This book is a continuation of the first research book, Advances in Sustainable Living: Built Environment and Technology. Lecturers in Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment (FKAB) put a lot of effort into writing each chapter to ensure the second part of the book can be realised. This book in title Advances in Sustainable Living: Engineering and Technology focuses on the latest technology and research in engineering done by the lecturers. The objective of the book is to gather the knowledge and expertise in engineering besides upholding the Universityʼs ideals of “Integration of Naqli and Aqli Knowledge.”

The built environment can be described as a harmonious machine, made up of various integral parts working together as a whole. This expression is reflected in this book where each author discussed and shared insight on recent findings related to different aspects of the built environment. It is the differences and contrast from the varying fields which shows the holistic side of the build environment, while sustainability as the core or unifying factor bringing all the fields together. This book highlights key recent developments in air conditioning technologies for cooling and dehumidification with the specific objectives to improve energy efficiency and to minimize environmental impact. Today, air conditioning, comprising cooling and dehumidification, is a necessity in commercial and residential buildings and even in many industrial processes. This book provides key update on recent developments in air conditioning systems, cooling cycles and innovative cooling/dehumidification technologies. Key technologies related to cooling include heat-driven absorption and adsorption cooling and water-based dew point evaporative cooling. Technologies connected with dehumidification involve new generations of adsorbent–desiccant dehumidifiers, liquid-based desiccants and membranes that sieve out water vapor from air.
