- Abstract
This book delves into fundamental and advanced strategies for enhancing evolutionary and metaheuristic algorithms, focusing on the crucial balance between exploration and exploitation in search mechanisms. As technological advancements increase optimization complexity, effectively managing this balance becomes essential for achieving optimal solutions within reasonable computational resources. The book's distinctive structure organizes content according to optimization stages and processes, offering a comprehensive discussion of various approaches supported by extensive literature. The authors note a scarcity of literature addressing the trade-offs between exploration and exploitation with contemporary references, making this work particularly valuable. It aims to deepen the reader's understanding of evolutionary computing, emphasizing exploration, exploitation, and parameter control. It is relevant not only to algorithm developers and the evolutionary computation community but also to students and researchers across scientific disciplines. The book is designed to be accessible to those without extensive algorithm development backgrounds, providing theoretical and practical insights into optimization methods.

- Abstract
This book offers a comprehensive assessment of the stability of modern power systems through advanced nonlinear analysis frameworks. It addresses the new challenges to power system stability posed by the anticipated integration of numerous power-electronic-interfaced devices needed to support renewable energy generation. Given the diverse operational timescales associated with controllers for power-electronic-interfaced devices, these devices can have an impact on a wide range of dynamic phenomena, thereby significantly influencing the system's dynamic performance and stability. The methodologies presented effectively manage the significant changes in system dynamics introduced by these devices. This research utilizes nonlinear methodologies, specifically bifurcation theory, to analyse various stability types in such power-electronic-rich systems. The book adopts a bifurcation-based methodology to evaluate power system stability through detailed examination of each type of instability mechanism. The methodology developed is extended to explore the interactions between multiple types of system stability considering the impacts of different voltage-source-converter controllers and grid strengths. Finally, to reduce the high computational burden imposed by the proposed methodology, a hybrid network model is developed to assess the system stability efficiently. Stability Assessment of Power Systems with Multiple Voltage Source Converters is of interest to students, researchers, and industry professionals in the field of electrical engineering.

- Abstract
This book provides a comprehensive view on theories, models, and techniques used to investigate and analyze incidents and safety causalities occurring in sociotechnical systems. Consisted of intricately interconnected components, sociotechnical systems are always prone to incidents. These incidents can ensue with adverse effects on employees and the public, the environment, and company's properties and reputation. Sometimes, a single incident has the potential to terminate the operation of a business forever. As incidents are multi-factorial and not easy to comprehend, they should be investigated systematically in a structured way so as to find their root causes and prevent them from recurring. Consequently, there have been developed many theories, models, and techniques aimed at accomplishing this goal. However, each approach has its own upsides and downsides, and there is no universal one applicable to all cases. Therefore, researchers and practitioners may sometimes find it difficult to select the most appropriate approach for the given case. After introducing theories, models, and techniques pertaining to incident investigation and safety causalities modeling, this book explains each one in details and discusses their pros and cons. The book aims to provide the audience with a step-by-step guidance for performing incident investigation and analysis. At the end of each chapter an example is analyzed by the introduced tool. Finally, the book offers criteria based on which an incident analysis technique can be selected.

- Abstract
This open access book provides an overview about results of the InSecTT project. Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) is the natural evolution for both Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) because they are mutually beneficial. AI increases the value of the IoT through machine learning by transforming the data into useful information, while the IoT increases the value of AI through connectivity and data exchange. Therefore, InSecTT—Intelligent Secure Trustable Things, a pan-European effort with over 50 key partners from 12 countries (EU and Turkey), provides intelligent, secure and trustworthy systems for industrial applications to provide comprehensive cost-efficient solutions of intelligent, end-to-end secure, trustworthy connectivity and interoperability to bring the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence together. InSecTT creates trust in AI-based intelligent systems and solutions as a major part of the AIoT. InSecTT fosters cooperation between big industrial players from various domains, a number of highly innovative SMEs distributed all over Europe and cutting-edge research organizations and universities. The project features a big variety of industry-driven use cases embedded into various application domains where Europe is in a leading position, i.e., smart infrastructure, building, manufacturing, automotive, aeronautics, railway, urban public transport, maritime as well as health. The demonstration of InSecTT solutions in well-known real-world environments like airports, trains, ports and the health sector shows their applicability on both high and broad level, going from citizens to European stakeholders. The first part of the book provides an introduction into the main topics of the InSecTT project: How to bring Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence together to form the Artificial Intelligence of Things, a reference architecture for such kind of systems and how to develop trustworthy, ethical AI systems. In the second part, we show the development of essential technologies for creating trustworthy AIoT systems. The third part of the book is composed of a broad variety of examples on how to design, develop and validate trustworthy AIoT systems for industrial applications (including automotive, avionics, smart infrastructure, health care, manufacturing and railway).

- Abstract
This book provides several efficient Kalman filters (linear or nonlinear) under information theoretic criteria. They achieve excellent performance in complicated non-Gaussian noises with low computation complexity and have great practical application potential. The book combines all these perspectives and results in a single resource for students and practitioners in relevant application fields. Each chapter starts with a brief review of fundamentals, presents the material focused on the most important properties and evaluates comparatively the models discussing free parameters and their effect on the results. Proofs are provided at the end of each chapter. The book is geared to senior undergraduates with a basic understanding of linear algebra, signal processing and statistics, as well as graduate students or practitioners with experience in Kalman filtering.
