The mathematical verification of the safety of structures can be done by determining the probability of failure or by using safety elements. Observed damages and collapses are usually assessed within the framework of expert reports, which seems reasonable due to the large number of unique structures in the construction industry. However, there should also be an examination of observed safety across all structures. Therefore, in this book the collapse frequencies are determined for different types of structures, such as bridges, dams, tunnels, retaining structures and buildings. The collapse frequency, like the failure probability, belongs to stochasticity. Therefore, the observed mean collapse frequencies and the calculated mean failure probabilities are compared. This comparison shows that the collapse frequencies are usually lower than the calculated failure probabilities. In addition, core damage frequencies and probabilities are given to extend the comparison to another technical product.

Der rechnerische Nachweis der Sicherheit von Bauwerken kann über die Bestimmung der Versagenswahrscheinlichkeit oder unter Verwendung von Sicherheitselementen erfolgen. Beobachtete Schäden und Einstürze werden meistens im Rahmen von Gutachten bewertet, was auf Grund der großen Anzahl Unikate im Bauwesen sinnvoll erscheint. Allerding sollte es auch eine Prüfung der beobachteten Sicherheit über alle Bauwerke geben. Deshalb werden in diesem Buch die Einsturzhäufigkeiten für verschiedene Bauwerkstypen, wie Brücken, Dämme, Tunnel, Stützbauwerke und Hochbauten, ermittelt. Die Einsturzhäufigkeit gehört wie die Versagenswahrscheinlichkeit zur Stochastik. Daher werden die beobachteten mittleren Einsturzhäufigkeiten und die berechneten mittleren Versagenswahrscheinlichkeiten verglichen. Bei diesem Vergleich zeigt sich, dass die Einsturzhäufigkeiten in der Regel niedriger sind als die berechneten Versagenswahrscheinlichkeiten. Zusätzlich werden Kernschadenshäufigkeiten und -wahrscheinlichkeiten angegeben, um den Vergleich auf ein anderes technisches Erzeugnis auszuweiten.

Stahlbeton ist ein moderner Baustoff, der in allen möglichen Bauwerken angewendet wird. Auf Grund seiner Eigenschaften ist die Gebrauchsdauer für einzelne Bauwerke sehr unterschiedlich. Es wird, ausgehend von den Materialeigenschaften, auf Gefahren hingewiesen und wie diese für den interessierten Kunden erkennbar und auch messbar sind. Die verschiedenen Erhaltungsmethoden zur Verlängerung der Gebrauchszeit werden erläutert. Letztendlich wird auch die übliche Gebrauchszeit für Stahlbeton ohne und mit Erhaltungsmaßnahmen bei den unterschiedlichen Bauwerken und Umwelteinflüssen angegeben.

Dies Fachbuch ist ein Glossar, das einen breiten Überblick geben soll zu Begriffen, die in mehreren Fach-Disziplinen verwendet werden. Schwerpunkt sind hochbeanspruchte Bauteile aus Faserverbundwerkstoffen, d.h. aus Fasern - vornehmlich aus Carbonfasern – mit Polymermatrix (Epoxid, Thermoplast) und Betonmatrix (Carbonbeton mit dem technischen Textil Bewehrungs-Gitter oder mit dem Stäben). Der breite Anwendungsbereich umfasst Rohre und Behälter, Rotorblätter, Fußgängerbrücken, textile Gebäudehüllen, Fertigteilgaragen, vorgespannte Platten, räumliche Tragkonstruktionen aus allen möglichen Kombinationen einer Faser mit einer Matrix, bis hin zu einer Carbonverstärkung rostender Stahlbetonbrücken und wasserundurchlässigen Fundamenten. Mehrere Ingenieurgruppen sind also begrifflich miteinander zu verbinden. Der Autor setzt sich dabei kritisch mit einigen Begriffen auseinander und kommentiert sowie visualisiert diese zum besseren Verstehen, wo es ihm notwendig erscheint. Es ist eine Arbeit zur Anregung konstruktiver Diskussion, das Fachdisziplinen verbinden und durch „Gleiche Sprache sprechen“ Fehler und Missverständnisse im Entwicklungsprozess vermeiden helfen soll. Dies Vorhaben wird erschwert, da sich manche Begriffe von der ursprünglichen Festlegung weg entwickelt haben. Somit sind Begriffe und deren Definitionen zentraler Gegenstand des Glossars. Dazu gehören Abkürzungen und Indizierungen sowie ein Überblick-gebendes Ordnungsschema für Bauteil-verstärkende Faserverbundwerkstoffe. Angesprochen ist vor allem der dimensionierende Ingenieur.

Aufgrund der europaweit vereinheitlichten Normungen für die Bemessung im Bauwesen (Eurocode) sind die Bemessungsdiagramme aus der ZTV-LSW 88 nicht mehr den heutigen Anforderungen gerecht. Mit der überarbeiteten Fassung ZTV-LSW 06 entfielen diese oben angeführten Diagramme zur Ermittlung der Gründung von Lärmschutzwänden im Bereich von Straßen. Durch die heutige Überarbeitung der ZTV-LSW 88 und 06 sollen die veralteten Bemessungsdiagramme an die aktuellen Vorschriften und Ausführungen angepasst werden.

Jedermann weiß, was Zement ist, aber selbst in Kreisen, die täglich mit ihm zu tun haben, hat man oft keine Vorstellung davon, wie dieses merkwürdige graue Pulver entsteht, das mit Wasser angemacht, sich in ein steinartiges Gebilde verwandelt, das die Härte und die Festigkeit von Feuerstein erreichen kann. Dies diktierte vor rund 40 Jahren der große deutsche Zementchemiker Hans Kühl als Einleitung für seine'Zementchemie'- und diese Worte haben wohl auch heute noch uneingeschränkt Gültigkeit. Wie wird aus diesem merkwürdigen grauen Pulver in Verbindung mit Wasser, Zuschlägen und Zusätzen dieses stein­ artige Gebilde, der unumstrittene Baustoff Nummer Eins unserer Zeit, der Beton. Wir haben heute neue Möglichkeiten, dieser Frage nachzugehen. Eine davon ist das Environmental Scanning Electron Microscope (ESEM-FEG), mit dessen Hilfe Untersuchungen zum Mechanismus der frühen Hydratation von einzelnen Klinkerphasen und komplizierten Mehrphasensystemen einzelner Zemente mög­ lich werden und nach deren Ergebnissen bisherige Modellvorstellungen zu diesen Fragen zumindest neu überdacht werden müssen. In diesem Buch werden neue Erkenntnisse von Forschungsarbeiten am F. A. Finger-Institut (FlB) der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar zu diesen Fragen vorge­ stellt. Auflage wurde dieses einzigartige Standardwerk vollständig überarbeitet und den aktuellen Richtlinien und Normen angepasst.
