Der fünfte Band der Reihe trägt den Titel Ethik und Politik aus interkultureller Sicht. Neben einer begrifflichen, methodischen und inhaltlichen Klärung, was aus interkultureller Sicht bedeutet, werden in den verschiedenen Beiträgen ethische und politische Ansätze im heutigen Weltkontext der Philosophie erörtert. Interkulturell orientiertes philosophisches Denken weist alle Zentrismen zurück, ohne jedoch die jeweilige kulturelle Sedimentiertheit in Frage zu stellen. Folgerichtig wird so auch ein jeder Monismus abgelehnt. Das heutige Angesprochensein der Kulturen verlangt von uns, von den beiden Fiktionen einer totalen Identität und völligen Differenz unter den ethischen und politischen Modellen Abschied zu nehmen. Die These von der Überlappung zielt auf das Wahrnehmen von grundsätzlichen Ähnlichkeiten und erhellenden Differenzen in den Ansätzen. Wer einen Pluralismus bejaht, muß auch bereit sein, im Geiste der Toleranz die unterschiedlichen Ansätze zur Ethik und Politik ernst zu nehmen. Wer den Konsens zu sehr betont, liebäugelt mit irgendeinem Identitätsmodell, vernachlässigt den Kompromiß. Tatsache ist jedoch, daß gerade Kompromisse zur Konfliktlösung beitragen. So sind die Beiträge dieses Bandes dem Ziel gewidmet, sowohl eine theoretische Begründung als auch eine praktische Bewältigung der interkulturellen Verständigung in Ethik und Politik zu leisten.

Part 2 of Volume 3 addresses in detail the conflicts between humor and cruelty, i.e., how cruelty can be unleashed against humor and, conversely, humor can be utilized against cruelty. Potent enmities to mirth and jollity are retrieved from a variety of socio-historical contexts, ranging from Europe's medieval monasteries to the 2015 Charlie Hebdo massacre. Special attention is paid to the cruel humor and humorous cruelty arising thereof, insofar as such phenomena can reveal critical aspects of today's neoliberal socio-economic order. In parallel, settings where humor has been used as an instrument to cope with suffered cruelty, whether natural or human in origin, are also retrieved and discussed. These also vary greatly and encompass domains such as hospital wards, 20th-century Jewish ghettoes, and contemporary funeral homes. The research of international topics and writing about cultural identity formations does not automatically equate to transnationalizing intercultural communication. Studies often perpetuate a hegemonic and U.S.-centric way of doing research, and by default doing intercultural communication scholarship. Thus, intercultural communication and critical intercultural communication (CIC) has not yet fully experienced a transnational turn. Instead, by considering the ideas of nation-state, nationality, and citizenship through theoretical frameworks that are developed by non-U.S.-scholars and transnational scholars within U.S. academia, this book addresses the citationality politics present in the field. While past studies of critical intercultural communication have been international in scope, with researchers from international backgrounds, their visibility and voice have remained limited in CIC. To achieve transnational inclusivity with CIC, the authors of this book advocate for the use of critical and cultural multi-methods or fusion of them or incorporation of new hybrid methodologies to answer complex, multidimensional, intersectional, and transnational issues and represent those lives and stories. Collectively, the authors address different topics that help further conceptualize transnational critical intercultural communication. They all call attention to examining global cultural disparities, mediated transnationalities, and transnational oppressive cultural and political structures. Many chapters offer narrative-based writing or autoethnographic methods to unearth these issues and spotlight oppressive structures and inequalities. This book will be essential reading for scholars of CIC and those interested in how transnational cultural practices, regulations, expectations, and limitations continuously shape and reshape the lives of transnational individuals.

Mehr als jede vierte Person in Deutschland hat einen Migrationshintergrund, wobei türkeistämmige Migrant/-innen die größte herkunftsspezifische Gruppe bilden. Insbesondere für Frauen mit türkeistämmiger Herkunft werden spezifische gesundheitliche Probleme und Integrationsschwierigkeiten beschrieben. Im Rahmen der Studie werden daher anhand der Betrachtung individual-biografischer Daten Prozesse und Mechanismen analysiert, die im Zusammenhang mit der gesundheitsbezogenen Lebensqualität im Integrationsprozess als bedeutsam erlebt wurden. Hierzu werden relevante Faktoren, die in Verbindung mit der gesundheitsbezogenen Lebensqualität von Frauen mit türkeistämmigem Migrationshintergrund stehen, herausgearbeitet sowie Gesundheitsstrategien und das Integrationsverständnis der Interviewten.

Why must beauty be seen as a binary that is either oppressive or empowering for women? The Beauty Paradox: Femininity in the Age of Selfies argues that women's experiences of beauty as both validating and belittling is grounded in the contradictory injunctions that they receive regarding their participation in beauty culture. Piazzesi identifies the four main paradoxes of Western beauty culture: the worth paradox, the authenticity paradox, the power paradox, and the commitment paradox and examines how they trail women's everyday experiences, choices, and reflections regarding beauty. L'hacking non nasce con i computer. Già agli inizi del Novecento dei giovani appassionati modificavano i propri apparecchi radio per ottenere prestazioni non previste dal loro produttore. Alcuni decenni dopo, negli anni'60, si diffondono i'phone phreaks', degli'hacker dei telefoni'che prefigurano molte caratteristiche della odierna cultura digitale. Con la diffusione dei PC i gruppi hacker diventano un fenomeno mediatico e di massa. Alla metà degli anni'80, quello che fino ad allora era stato considerato come un'ragazzo prodigio'si trasforma in una potenziale minaccia come autore di clamorose truffe o altre pratiche criminali. Ma in quegli stessi anni le pratiche hacker cominciano ad assumere un valore politico: nascono il cosiddetto hacktivismo e le comunità Free Software e Open Source, che in poco tempo rivoluzioneranno l'industria del software e la cultura digitale nel suo complesso. A timely investigation of why diversity alone is insufficient in higher education and how universities can use reparative actions to become anti-racist institutions.As institutions increasingly reckon with histories entangled with slavery and Indigenous dispossession, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts occupy a central role in the strategy and resources of higher education. Yet reparation is rarely offered as a viable strategy for institutional transformation. In Reparative Universities, Ariana González Stokas undertakes a critical and decolonial analysis of DEI work, linking contemporary practices of diversity to longer colonial histories. González Stokas argues that diversity is an insufficient concept for efforts concerned with anti-oppression, anti-racism, equity, and decolonization. Given its historical ties to colonialism, can higher education foster reconciliation and healing?Reparation is offered as a pathway toward untangling higher education from its colonial roots. González Stokas develops the term'epistemic reparation'to describe a mode of social-historical accountability that can already be seen at work in historical examples, as well as current events in the United States, South Africa, and Canada. Recent legal decisions by Georgetown University and the Princeton Theological seminary to enact economic recompense for buying and selling human beings are evidence of attempts to redress higher education's violent histories and the colonial structures they reproduce every day on college campuses. Engaging with a broad range of theories from decolonial philosophy to organizational psychology, González Stokas offers a pathway—guided by reparative activities—for institutional workers frustrated by what often feels, as Sara Ahmed describes, like'banging one's head against a brick wall.'Reparative Universities offers insight into why DEI efforts have been disconnected from past injustices and why unsettling diversity and engaging meaningful repair are critical for the future of higher education.

Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2023 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Pädagogische Soziologie, Technische Universität Darmstadt (Allgemeine Pädagogik und Berufspädagogik), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Bedeutung von Identität und Kultur in der Pädagogik zu erörtern und insbesondere die Rolle von Identität in der Migrationspädagogik zu untersuchen. Dabei werden verschiedene Theorien und Perspektiven vorgestellt und kritisch reflektiert, um zu einem besseren Verständnis der komplexen Zusammenhänge zwischen Identität, Migration und Pädagogik zu gelangen. Die Identitätskonstruktionen von Menschen in migrationsgesellschaftlichen Verhältnissen stellen ein wichtiges Forschungs- und Handlungsfeld der Pädagogik dar. Die zunehmende Heterogenität der Gesellschaft und die damit einhergehenden Herausforderungen im Umgang mit Diversität erfordern ein vertieftes Verständnis der Entstehung und Gestaltung von Identitäten in diesem Kontext. In einer Welt, in der gesellschaftliche Veränderungen, Globalisierung und Migration die Vielfalt der Individuen in Bildungskontexten zunehmend prägen, stehen pädagogische Fachkräfte vor großen Herausforderungen. Daher erfordert die Auseinandersetzung mit Identitätskonstruktionen ein differenziertes Verständnis von Identität als prozesshaftes, sozial konstruiertes Phänomen, das sich in Wechselwirkung mit individuellen und strukturellen Faktoren entwickelt. Insbesondere der Einfluss von Diskriminierungserfahrungen, kultureller Prägung und biographischen Erfahrungen auf die Identitätsentwicklung muss dabei berücksichtigt werden. Hierzu zählen beispielsweise auch Marginalisierung sowie der Verlust der kulturellen Identität. Vor dem Hintergrund aktueller gesellschaftlicher Debatten und Entwicklungen, wie der zunehmenden Polarisierung der Gesellschaft und der Notwendigkeit eines interkulturellen Zusammenlebens, ist es von besonderer Bedeutung, die Entstehung und Gestaltung von Identitäten in migrationsgesellschaftlichen Verhältnissen zu untersuchen und pädagogische Handlungsmöglichkeiten zu entwickeln. Eines der zentralen Problematiken ist die Gefahr der Vereinfachung und Reduktion von Identitäten auf bestimmte'natio-ethno-kulturelle'Merkmale. Diese Essentialisierung kann zu Stereotypisierungen und Diskriminierungen führen und verhindert eine angemessene Anerkennung der Vielfalt und Komplexität von Identitäten in migrationsgesellschaftlichen Verhältnissen. Ein weiteres Problem ist das Phänomen der Anpassung an die Mehrheitsgesellschaft. In der pädagogischen Praxis sollten Fachkräfte daher sensibel für die Komplexität und Vielfalt von Identitäten in migrationsgesellschaftlichen Verhältnissen sein.

Ma parlarne in maniera aperta e onesta è complicato, perché mette in gioco stereotipi sessuali, aspettative sociali e rivela una vita intima di cui non sempre ci sentiamo sicuri. E questa la teoria di fondo di Polly Barton, che attraverso una serie di conversazioni informali con diciannove amiche e conoscenti prova a scandagliare il modo in cui il porno ci provoca eccitazione, disagio e turbamento, offuscando i confini della nostra intimità e aprendo nuovi spazi di esplorazione, che spesso hanno un costo, soprattutto per le donne. In un momento storico in cui sembra che siamo tutti disposti a parlare di sesso, di quello che ci piace e di quello che non ci piace alla luce del consenso, Barton dimostra che la cultura sex positive non si è estesa del tutto al mondo del porno, e che l'ottimismo emancipatorio rischia di occultare gli aspetti più politici insiti nella pornografia mainstream: dalla sopraffazione dell'altro alla diffusione di stereotipi di genere e razziali. Was haben wir über die Strukturen und Dynamiken der Innovationsgesellschaft gelernt und wie haben sich diese über den Forschungszeitraum weiterentwickelt? Wie konstituieren sich Innovationsfelder und andere innovationsbezogene Mesoordnungen und welche Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede lassen sich zwischen ihnen feststellen? Welche neuen Praktiken reflexiver Innovation bilden sich heraus und welche Steuerungsprobleme, unintendierte Nebenfolgen und Gegenbewegungen sind mit ihnen verbunden? In welchem Verhältnis steht Innovation zu etablierten Strukturen, feldspezifischen Materialitäten und gesellschaftsweiten Entwicklungen wie etwa der Digitalisierung? Welche Rolle spielen gesellschaftliche Krisen bei der Hervorbringung und Durchsetzung von Innovationen?

Die digitale Transformation beschreibt den derzeitigen gesellschaftlichen Veränderungsprozess, der maßgeblich durch die Weiterentwicklung von Informationstechnologien bestimmt wird. Das Thema Lernen rückt damit in den Fokus. Menschen können darüber aktiv diesen Wandel gestalten und sich anpassen, um ihre grundlegenden psychologischen Bedürfnisse nach Kompetenzerleben, sozialer Eingebundenheit und Autonomie zu befriedigen. Allerdings verdichten sich auch die Anforderungen an sogenannte Wissensarbeiter, die in diesem Buch fokussiert werden. Herauszufinden wie sich die Arbeit durch Lernen verändert, bildet den Schwerpunkt. Ausgangspunkt ist die Arbeitskraftunternehmer-These, die Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts formuliert wurde. Thematisiert wird eine weitere Subjektivierung von Arbeit durch die Abkehr vom tayloristisch-fordistischen Arbeitsmodell. Den Arbeitskraftunternehmer zeichnet ein unternehmerischer Umgang mit der eigenen Arbeitskraft aus. In diesem Buch wird ein neues Modell eines Arbeitskrafttypus (Lernunternehmer) entwickelt, auf dessen Basis der weitere Wandel von Arbeit und Lernen untersucht wird. Die Schlussfolgerungen zu dieser Untersuchung bilden die Basis für entsprechende Handlungsempfehlungen zur Gestaltung arbeitsorientierten Lernens und lernhaltigen Arbeitens von Wissensarbeitern.

Dieser Sammelband identifiziert die Schnittstellen der politischen, gesellschaftlichen und wirtschaftlichen Domäne aus wirtschaftssoziologischer und fachdidaktischer Perspektive wie auch vor dem Hintergrund nationaler wie internationaler Forschungsansätze der sozialwissenschaftlichen Bildung. Dabei werden die Innovationspotenziale einer sozioökonomischen Perspektive an den Übergängen von Fachwissenschaft und Fachdidaktik(wissenschaft) ausgearbeitet. Liberal societies insist that this perfecting must not be done at the cost of others or by restricting the right to such a striving only to some and not granting it also to others. However, in a time of growing social and cultural diversity and inequality the traditional tensions between individual freedom and social responsibility have increased to a point where the binding forces of our societies seem to be exhausted. This handbook focuses on the dynamic nature of global migration and its implications for international business. Migration shapes the societal and organizational contexts of international business; yet studies on migration have only recently become more prominent. For how long should Africa continue to be associated with hunger, poverty, desperation, corruption, and mediocrity? For how long will Africa's natural endowments continue to be viewed as a curse instead of a blessing? When are our children going to put on new clothes instead of relying on second-hand clothes? When are we going to stop seeking handouts from other nations as if they owe us a living? Have we voluntarily agreed to be a laughing stock for the whole world? Have we and our unborn accepted to be labelled ‘third world'forever? It is time for African leaders to deliver their populace to the Promised Land through diligence and hard work. Africa needs to rise above the borders and boundaries, which were constructed by the Berlin Conference of 1884, and create a new society which is grounded in its rich cultural soils. It is time we start showcasing to the world our rich cultural heritage. We need to innovate our products and services along with our cultural dexterity. The author proposes a set of solutions to these deep-seated and systemic problems. These solutions are rooted in the concept of Uhumwe, or ‘togetherness', which he believes will provide both a strength of belief, and a concept which can help African business leaders, innovators, politicians, and others in realising the dream of prosperity for Africa.

This book presents a bold critique of the new racial sensibility that has attained global prominence following the police murder of George Floyd. Through a set of managerial and therapeutic discourses, this new sensibility describes the inner racial life of white subjects, inducing them to adopt a therapeutic attitude toward deeply interiorized white emotions and conflicts. In so doing, the new racial sensibility promises to remake whiteness in the image of the self-aware racial ally. However, such an appeal, it is argued, serves the subtle function of the preservation of white racial dispositions, and the reproduction of the very racism it sets out to transform. Adopting a critical lens derived from Michel Foucault's analysis of sexuality, together with an engagement with sociological, psychoanalytic and phenomenological reflections on shame as a racial affect, a critique of white interiority considers alternative frames through which white anti-racist subjection might be imagined.

This book is an insightful meta-narrative about schooling which explores the global natural experiment of the COVID-19 pandemic and its potential impact on school culture.The proposed book discusses how the abrupt and somewhat forced digital transformation of schooling on a global scale (caused by the COVID-19 pandemic) did not change the educational status quo. It states that online teaching and learning failed to transform the role of the key school actors, students and teachers as well as the relationship between them, despite megatrends such as digitalisation, automation and the development of artificial intelligence. What would an alternative to contemporary capitalism look like? In this book, Geert Reuten sets out a detailed design of a democratic society organised in worker cooperatives, followed by an equally detailed democratic transition to it, thereby making a convincing case. In Reuten's design, Workers constitute the single economic class. However, unlike in capitalism, there is no class that owns the means of production. The legal structure of worker cooperatives is such that workers have full rights to the fruits of the cooperative without owning it, and yet the state does not own the cooperatives either. Interestingly, worker councils in the economic and state domains vote on all economically relevant matters. In Reuten's work, the free choice of occupation and of specific consumer goods is even larger than in capitalism.

Dieses Lebensbild Euckens stützt sich auf einen beträchtlichen Teil seiner nachgelassenen Korrespondenz. Er war in einen großen Familien-, Freundes-, Kollegen- und Schülerkreis eingebunden. Als wirtschaftswissenschaftlicher Lehrer und Forscher war er ein unangepasster Denker, der eigene Wege bahnte. Im Rahmen der Freiburger Kreise engagierte er sich im Widerstand gegen die NS-Diktatur. In den Nachkriegsjahren wirkte er in der Politikberatung und plädierte vehement für den ordnungspolitischen Kurs der Freiburger Schule.

Astronomy is a field concerned with matters very distant from Earth. Most phenomena, whether observed or theorized, transcend human spaces and timescales by orders of magnitude. Yet, many scientists have been interested not just in the events that have occurred millennia before Earth's inception, but also in their very own society here and now. Since the first half of the twentieth century, an increasing number of them have pursued parallel careers as both academics and activists. Besides publishing peer-reviewed papers, they have promoted a great variety of underrepresented groups within their discipline. Through conferences, newsletters and social media, they have sought to advance the interests of women, members of racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+, and disabled people. While these activists have differed in the identities they focus on, they have come to share a conviction that diversity and inclusion are crucial for scientific excellence as well as social justice. As most are recent figures whose discoveries have not been commemorated by Nobel Prizes, they are relatively unknown among historians of science. Il volume cerca poi di verificare come le categorie elaborate in riferimento al mondo anglo-americano possano essere applicate al caso italiano, ossia alla particolare vicenda delle sottoculture/controculture del nostro paese, segnata da specificità molto significative.
