Open Semiotics aims to explore and expand these interactions, and to facilitate new avenues for interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, providing insights into a redeployment of disciplinary fields. This book is about certain risk assessment, risk analysis and risk management from a legal point of view. It discusses five different types of risks that business law needs to cope with nowadays. Some of these challenges are fairly new (artificial intelligence, AI), some are fairly old (limited liability), but they all trigger serious social challenges (like environmental concerns or social responsibility). Some problems are universal, some are global but none can be managed by the locally defined law. The controversy at hand will be decided, but the problem would not even be touched. Law, by definition, belongs to the realm and the existence of statehood, thus, the efficiency, the possibilities and the means of the law are predetermined by this relationship. In any event, risks, and not only the seldom occurrent ones, can be extremely high, and the damages can be overwhelming. Yet, when these risks come about, from a practical social point of view, it might not matter who is right and who is not.

In the introduction to his book, Yohannan Friedmann wrote that the Ahmadiyya has been one of the “most active and controversial movements within modern Islam”. Indeed, the Muslimness of the Ahmadis has been debated ever since the inception of the movement in the 19th century, where several successive fatwas declared its supporters to be heretics and deviants. In Pakistan, this Muslim minority will be declared non-muslim through a Constitutional amendment and later an Ordinance will go as far as criminalizing their right to be Muslims. The community will thus face a wave of persecution and violence under the sight of the Pakistani State's silence. In 1984, the community led by a caliphate will find refuge in Britain and will start to explore the freedom to express and display their religious identity in a visible manner. Through the theoretical framework of two sociologists of the School of Chicago - Howard Becker and Erving Goffman - and their work on deviant communities, this book explores to what extent the lack of recognition of the Muslim identity of Ahmadis in Pakistan evolves in the specific diasporic context of Britain. This book examines the relationship between the treatment of a politically controlled minority in a theocracy and the modalities of its importation into a Western democracy.

This research uses an Interactionist approach to understand how children and youth in street situations in Nepal and elsewhere negotiate their social identity while confronted with dynamics of domination, labelling and violence. Their capability to survive on the street determines their career, which is also influenced by their capacity to play with the institutional network supposed to help or control them. Presenting a typology of the existing intervention system, this research will shed light on the existing gaps and the effect of conversion « back to the norm », carried out or encouraged by NGOs or public authorities.

Cet ouvrage collectif retrace l'histoire de la théoie sociologique italienne d'époque positiviste à travers quelques-uns de ses représentants principaux comme Pareto, Lombroso ou encore Del Noce, etc. Mettre à disposition des chercheurs des outils scientifiques leur permettant d'appréhender toutes ces questions sociales par lesquelles s'exprime la partie irrationnelle de l'humain, tel est le but de ce travail.

According to the objective of a four-year-long project, completed with the participation of researchers from 14 countries, the research concept -'how young people social's participation is shaped by the shadows of totalitarianism and populism in Europe'- did not focus of national political cultures and heritages based on different classifications but on pan-European approach.Participation of young people has been thus examined in a historical and cultural concept with the learning of meanings attributed to related concepts.
