The goal is to derive non-trivial combinatorial properties of such structures and to exploit these properties in order to either achieve superior performance for the corresponding computational problems or pinpoint conditions under which searches cannot be performed efficiently. The meeting also deals with problems in computational biology, data compression and data mining, coding, information retrieval, natural language processing, and pattern recognition.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-workshop proceedings of the Second International Workshop on Hybrid Systems Biology, HSB 2013, held as part of the ECAL 2013 event, in Taormina, Italy, in September 2013; and the Third International Workshop on Hybrid Systems Biology, HSB 2014, held as part of CAV 2014, in Vienna, Austria, in July 2014.
