The “Re-Inventing Organic Metaphors for the Social Sciences” is a volume with the specific goal: to challenge psychological understandings by connecting psychological approaches with multidimensional perspectives of various other scientific streams, meanwhile imbedding the generated knowledge in metaphors that allows researchers to follow phenomena into a deeper and more (w)holistic understanding of its appearance. This is particularly important when the humankind faces challenges due to systemic biological changes, as the phenomenological dynamics bonded to those challenges can be conserved in appropriated context. For this purpose, the organic metaphors are introduced. A tool that has central advantage over mechanical metaphors as it can capture the complex and open-systemic nature of biological, psychological, and social phenomena. For example—the widely used notion “mind as a computer” may be more productively replaced by “mind as a membrane”—with implications (e.g. focus on borders in-between, or in systems in themselves- exosystemic realities in our world). There are many other fertile opportunities not yet explored in the realms of psychology and other sciences. Furthermore, the contributors operated also as cross-reviewers for each other's. In this occasion a new dimension, in chapter construction, will be introduced. Beside the traditional reviewing of another paper the reviewer has been asked to add a small list of extending questions toward the reviewed paper. These added questions have been introduced as potential questions that the authors were demanded to add into a final sub-chapter of their contribution. The subchapter has been titled as “Dialogue” (the author was free to select between the questions and ideas on those they believe could inhabit an especially worth for the future readers).

Dabei liegt der Fokus auf dem Werdegang zum und der Risikobewertung von Terroristen. Der derzeitige Stand der Forschung im Hinblick auf die Persönlichkeit von Lone Wolfs und ihrer Radikalisierung wird dargestellt. Weiterhin werden Publikationen des Feldes betrachtet und Probleme der aktuellen Forschung herausgearbeitet. Anschließend werden Anreize für zukünftige Forschungsprojekte gegeben, sowie der momentane Forschungsfokus im Hinblick auf präventive Maßnahmen diskutiert. Diese Arbeit wird zeigen, dass die Thematik hauptsächlich theoretisch behandelt wurde. Es gibt wenig empirische Untersuchungen und Studien, wodurch kaum ausreichend bewiesene Aussagen getroffen werden können. Gründe dafür sind, dass nur geringe Datenmengen vorliegen und der Zugang zu Terroristen erschwert oder erst nach einer Inhaftierung möglich ist. Weiterhin muss eine vernünftige Unterteilung der verschiedenen terroristischen Subgruppen gefunden und etabliert werden, um Ergebnisse auch sinnvoll zuordnen zu können. Außerdem konnte aufgezeigt werden, dass der derzeitige Forschungsfokus womöglich nicht zu praktisch anwendbaren Präventionsmaßnahmen führt. This review is about single actor terrorism, sometimes also referred to as „Lone-Wolf” terrorism. The focus will be on the mechanisms, which cause an individual to become a terrorist and on assessing a level of risk for terrorism. Therefore, the current state of the literature will be reviewed and assessed. By doing so, this review will identify the main obstacles for future analysis on single actor terrorism and discuss the capabilities of the current research direction for finding preventive measures to avoid terrorism. Last, this paper will give recommendations for further research into this field. Reviewing the literature revealed, that most knowledge on this field is based on theoretical as opposed to empirical research. This makes it more difficult to draw meaningful conclusions about terrorism. A reason for this is that sampling terrorists is close to impossible unless they are imprisoned or have turned. The paper realizes, that for a better understanding of the phenomenon terrorists should be categorized into sub groups so that results of future research can be assigned to specific terrorists in a sensible manner.

David Ernst Oppenheim, a classics scholar and professor of Greek and Latin at a Vienna school, had begun pursuing an interest in the interrelatedness of mythology, folklore and psychoanalytic concepts, and attended lectures given by Freud in 1906. In 1909, he sent to Freud a paper he had written about mythology in which he revealed a knowledge of psychoanalysis. He was subsequently invited to join Freud's Vienna Psychoanalytic Association in 1910, where he gave talks on the fire as a sexual symbol and on suicides at school age.The manuscript for Dreams in Folklore, to which Oppenheim contributed the folklore and Freud the commentary, was written in 1911. It remained in the possession of his family, before finally being published in 1958.Along with the English translation of a letter from Freud to Oppenheim, and the manuscript itself, Dreams in Folklore also includes the complete original paper in German, “Träume im Folklore.”

Donald Winnicott (1896-1971) was trained in paediatrics, a profession that he practised to the end of his life, in particular at the Paddington Green Children's Hospital. He began analysis with James Strachey in 1923, became a member of the British Psychoanalytical Society in 1935, and twice served as its President. He was also a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and of the British Psychological Society. The collection of papers that forms The Maturational Processes and the Facilitating Environment brings together Dr Winnicott's published and unpublished papers on psychoanalysis and child development during the period 1957-1963. It has, as its main theme, the carrying back of the application of Freud's theories to infancy. Freud showed that psycho-neurosis has its point of origin in the interpersonal relationships of the first maturity, belonging to the toddler age. Dr Winnicott explores the idea that mental hospital disorders relate to failures of development in infancy. Without denying the importance of inheritance, he has developed the theory that schizophrenic illness shows up as the negative of processes that can be traced in detail as the positive processes of maturation in infancy and early childhood.

Expressive Minds and Artistic Creations: Studies in Cognitive Poetics presents multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research papers describing new developments in the field of cognitive poetics. The articles examine the complex connections between cognition and poetics with special attention given to how people both create and interpret novel artistic works in a variety of expressive media, including literature, music, art, and multimodal artifacts. Here are samples of the important parameters of behavior and attempts at defining the factors that influence the humor response as well as the effects of this response upon subsequent emotional states. In his expert introductory chapter, Jacob Levine traces the progress of humor research and analyzes the papers that follow. To summarize a few of his findings: Three basic research models--three conflicting models of the motivation of man--have been used to explain the motivational sources of humor: one is positive, one negative, and one mixed. These are: (1) cognitive-perceptual theory, which stresses the successful and surprising resolution of an incongruity, paradox, or double entendre; (2) behavior theory, with its emphasis on stimulus-response learning and the reduction of base drives; and (3) psychoanalytic theory, which emphasizes the gratification of the primary unconscious drives of sex and aggression in conjunction with the pleasures of mental activity that sometimes involve regression to infantile modes of thinking. The development of humor reflects an interaction between innate psycho physiological processes and learned response patterns. Evidence indicates that humor is influenced by such diverse situations and individual dispositions as interpersonal anxiety, prior emotional set, and social setting. This book is a collection of papers by leading contemporary psychoanalysts who comment on the continuing important relevance of Freud's (1911) paper, Formulations on the Two Principles of Mental Functioning. The contributors gathered here represent current European, Latin American, and North American perspectives that elaborate the continuing value of Two Principles for present-day psychoanalytic thinking. Each author examines Freud's paper through a personal lens that is coloured by the psychoanalytic culture from which he or she comes. In each instance, the writers'chapters demonstrate the heuristic value of Two Principles for twenty-first century psychoanalytic theory and technique. A common thread that runs through all the chapters is the view that this brief paper by Freud, which he humbly introduced by stating,'The deficiencies of this short paper, which is preparatory rather than expository...', is a masterpiece that contains within it the seeds of much of his later writing.
