- Abstract
This unique textbook – the first of its kind – presents a thoughtful and comprehensive discussion of the significance of varicocele and its impact on male fertility. This hot topic is covered from a multitude of angles in seven thematic sections: origin and pathophysiology, clinical evaluation, medical and surgical therapy, controversies, pro and con debates, and clinical case scenarios. The scope of varicocele includes basic and transitional research, genetics, diagnostic testing with conventional and advanced molecular biology approaches, hormonal control, interventional therapy and assisted reproductive technology (ART). Repair of varicocele, which can be carried out by various methods, not only alleviates oxidative stress‐associated infertility but also prevents and protects against the progressive character of varicocele and its consequent upregulations of systemic oxidative stress. Even with the advances in the understanding of this intriguing disease and consensus on some areas such as diagnosis and pathophysiology, substantial controversy still exists, in particular concerning the benefits of treatment and to whom treatment should be offered. Additional chapters discuss, in depth, such controversies surrounding the role of varicocele in male infertility and present clinical case scenarios dealing with management of subclinical and clinical varicocele. A series of editorial comments is provided by the editors at the end of selected chapters, containing an objective and concise summary of the information from each chapter. In addition, chapters open up with key points for quick references and conclude with multiple choice questions and answers for immediate review and retention of the rich content. Generously illustrated, Varicocele and Male Infertility: A Complete Guide represents an invaluable tool for medical students in reproductive medicine as well as researchers and clinicians working in the field of infertility(e.g., urologists, gynecologists, reproductive endocrinologists, and embryologists) and is comprised of chapters written by leading and internationally recognized clinicians and scientists with expertise in varicocele, skillfully edited by leaders in the field.

- Abstract
This is the second edition of a well-received book reflecting the state of the art in oncologic imaging research and promoting mutual understanding and collaboration between radiologists and clinical oncologists. It presents all currently available imaging modalities and covers a broad spectrum of oncologic diseases for most organ systems. Today, oncologic imaging faces the challenge of improving and refining concepts for precise tumor delineation and biologic/functional tumor characterization, as well as for purposes of creating individual treatment plans. The concept of radiomics has further advanced the conversion of images into mineable data and subsequent analysis of said data for decision-making support. Since the release of the book's first edition, radiomics has been introduced in oncology studies and can be performed with tomographic images from CT, MRI and PET/CT studies. The combination of radiomic data with genomic features is known as radiogenomics, and can potentially offer additional decision-making support. This book will be of interest to clinical oncologists with regard to the diagnosis, staging, treatment and follow-up on various tumors affecting the CNS, chest, abdomen, urogenital and musculoskeletal systems.

This is a critical distinction between this book and any other CAM Complementary & Alternative Medicine for Prostate and Urologic Health is designed to capture and clinically review the comprehensive database of clinical research articles that support and do not support the utilization of a variety of dietary supplements and other complementary medicines that physicians are exposed to in their daily practice. This is a critical distinction between this book and any other Complementary & Alternative Medicine (CAM) books published to date. Each section of the book provides an easy to reference guide into the topic of interest for the individual that works in urology. The various sub-specialty groups in urology are adequately represented, which allows for a physician to rapidly and thoroughly investigate their topic of interest regardless of whether it is fertility, bladder cancer, or prostate disease. Rather than having to sort through the now thousands of articles published yearly on CAM in medicine, this volume focuses first on the specialty and secondarily how it compares to the overall CAM literature. Each chapter includes a summary page that will allow the physician a rapid review of the subject with a patient, colleague or student. The practical nature of this book in urology also cannot be overstated. Chapters include a general overview of the CAM agent, whether or not it has data in medicine and urology, and a list of potential drug interactions and specific clinical scenarios where it can be utilized or discouraged in the specialty. Complementary &Alternative Medicine for Prostate and Urologic Health represents a gold standard text for use in teaching, not only for the students interested in the urologic field but for all current urologic health providers.

- Abstract
While MRI has proved itself to be an excellent diagnostic noninvasive modality for imaging of the brain, medulla, and musculoskeletal system due to its high intrinsic con trast resolution and tissue characterisation potential based on the judicious application of specific sequences, this has not been the case in the abdomen and pelvis. The reasons are the long exposure time and the lower spatial resolution, inherent to MRI. However, during recent years considerable process has been achieved in MRI of the abdominal and pelvic organs due to the development of new and more rapid imaging sequences and the routine clinical application of specific magnetic resonance contrast media. Consequently for some anatomical areas such as the female genital organs and the biliary system MRI is already the best performing morphological diagnostic modality. However, the question arises as to wether MRI, given its performance capabilities, should not also be considered a primary diagnostic modality for the study of parenchymal organs like the liver, spleen, and pancreas, and not merely as a complen tary modality to solve residual problems after ultrasonography and computed tomog raphy have been performed. Although the future role of MRI in respect of the gas trointestinal tube itself is still somewhat unclear, some possibilities for routine clinical use are becoming visible even in this abdominal field.

- Abstract
Radiology of the Female Pelvic Organs represents the third text in Erich K. Lang's trilogy which includes the previously published titles Radiology of the Upper Urinary Tract and Radiology of the Lower Urinary Tract. This volume provides a comprehensive review of diseases of the female pelvic organs. The clinical picture and pathology are well covered, but of course the emphasis is on imaging of the female pelvic organs and on the interventional procedures used to treat maladies of these organ systems. The current volume departs from the preceding two works in that the major empha sis is on the new modalities of MRI, CT, and ultrasonography, including color Doppler. Professor Lang has brought together the foremost experts from around the world in each of the specific areas of radiology of the female pelvic organs. Special skills devel oped in each radiologic community are lucidly described. Several chapters describe the relative roles of the different new modalities and give guidance to the clinician in choosing the most appropriate imaging technique. The volume not only discusses diagnosis and staging but places a major emphasis on therapy and the evaluation of the effectiveness of various therapeutic modalities. The extensive literature citations catalog the experience of the experts worldwide and are not limited to any specific geo graphic area. This volume truly confirms that medicine has become a global effort with experts from throughout the world offering their own unique contributions.

- Abstract
Urinary Tract Stone Disease covers the entire subject of urinary stone disease from basic sciences to medical and surgical treatment of stones. The surgical management of urinary stone disease has advanced significantly since the introduction of shock wave lithotripsy (SWL), percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), ureteroscopy (URS), and more recently retrograde intra-renal surgery (RIRS) with small, flexible fibre-optic ureteroscopes. As a result, “cutting for stones” has become a rare procedure. These minimally invasive techniques are now also used in the paediatric population with great safety and success. This book consists of 60 chapters divided into nine sections. The first three sections are devoted to basic sciences on subjects ranging from epidemiology of urinary calculi, to shock wave physics. The fourth section deals with diagnostic, laboratory, and research methods in the diagnosis and investigation of stones. Stone disease in children is dealt with in chapter five, followed by three sections on surgical management of stones. Finally, there is an entire section on medical management of stones. With highly illustrated diagrams, photographs, and X-ray images throughout, this book is an excellent reference for urologists, nephrologists and non-medical scientists.
