Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie und Psychotherapie und Kinder- und Jugendlichenpsychotherapie haben in den letzten Jahren in der Forschung und Versorgung eine enorme Entwicklung gemacht. Durch die Einführung des Grundständigen Psychotherapiestudiums und der damit verbundenen Einführung einer fachspezifischen Weiterbildung in Kinder- und Jugendpsychotherapie, wird es zukünftig zwei heilberufliche Weiterbildungsgänge im Bereich der psychischen Gesundheit von Kindern und Jugendlichen geben. Die Neuauflage der Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie und Psychotherapie mit zahlreichen neuen Themen und fast komplett neuen Texten, spiegelt diese Entwicklung wider. Hierfür wurde das Herausgeberboard und das Autorenteam deutlich erweitert. Ausgewiesene Kinder- und Jugendlichenpsychotherapeutinnen und Psychotherapeuten sind gleichberechtigte Mitherausgeber. Insofern steht das Buch in der Tradition des Springer-Referenzlehrbuchs, ist aber dennoch weit mehr als eine dritte Auflage der Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie und Psychotherapie, denn hier wird kooperativ und interdisziplinär das Fachgebiet der Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie des Kindes- und Jugendalters präsentiert. Die erste Revision der S3-Leitlinie zur Behandlung von Zwangsstörungen bei Erwachsenen wurde wieder unter Beratung und Moderation durch die Arbeitsgemeinschaft der wissenschaftlichen medizinischen Fachgesellschaft (AWMF) von einem großen Gremium an wissenschaftlichen Experten und Vertretern von Fachverbänden erstellt. Die Empfehlungen der revidierten Fassung basieren auf einer Sichtung der Evidenz der verfügbaren randomisierten klinischen Studien zu Zwangsstörungen sowie der Meta-Analysen dazu, einer Synthese der Empfehlungen anderer Leitlinien sowie einem Expertenkonsens bei den Fragen, zu denen es keine Evidenz aus Studien gibt. Aufgrund der großen Datenbasis sowie der breiten klinischen Erfahrungen von Experten auf dem Gebiet können in dieser Leitlinie konkrete und fundierte Empfehlungen für die Behandlung der Zwangsstörungen gegeben werden. Änderungen der ersten Revision der Leitlinie im Vergleich zur Ursprungsversion aus dem Jahre 2013 betreffen insbesondere die weitere Stärkung des Stellenwertes der kognitiven Verhaltenstherapie mit Exposition, die nach neueren Meta-Analysen das wirksamste Therapieverfahren und daher Therapie der ersten Wahl ist. Neu ist die Empfehlung für hochfrequente Expositionsübungen, z.B. im Blockformat, die, wo die Voraussetzungen vorliegen, genutzt werden sollten. Darüber hinaus wurden Empfehlungen zur Pharmakotherapie bei Therapieresistenz wesentlich überarbeitet, weil es in diesem Bereich in den vergangenen 10 Jahren viele neue Studien gab. Weitere neue Empfehlungen betreffen spezielle Behandlungsaspekte, den Umgang mit Komorbidität und die Versorgung, die in der ursprünglichen Leitlinie nicht enthalten waren.

Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders (OCRDs) have received considerable attention over the past two decades culminating with the inclusion of a new classification category of'Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders'(OCRDs) in DSM-5. This group of conditions includes OCD along with two newly minted conditions (Hoarding Disorder and Excoriation Disorder) and others previously classified as Somatoform Disorders (Body Dysmorphic Disorder) and Impulse Control Disorders (Hair Pulling Disorder). The implications for research on these conditions, as well as their relations with one another, are significant since their aggregation is based on putative central mechanisms with limited empirical support to date. Indeed, the past decades have seen a dramatic surge in research on OCRDs. Such scholarship has occurred across several domains including clinical phenomenology, assessment, and psychological therapies. A complete synthesis of the emerging data across these domains would be beyond the scope of a single journal article or series of articles while having the ability to comprehensively discuss advances in the field and stimulating in these areas Many of the available textbooks, although meritorious in their own right, are outdated and do not address the most recent research advances and emerging clinical implications. Indeed, the past decade has seen a tremendous growth in knowledge on treatment, assessment, treatment augmentation, and basic science that is not contained fully within existing volumes (see discussion of specific texts further below).
