This proceedings volume convenes selected, peer-reviewed papers presented at the 3rd International Conference on Mathematics and its Applications in Science and Engineering – ICMASE 2022, which was held on July 4–7, 2022 by the Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest, Romania.Works in this volume cover new developments in applications of mathematics in science and engineering, with emphasis on mathematical and computational modeling of real-world problems. Topics range from the use of differential equations to model mechanical structures to the employ of number theory in the development of information security and cryptography. Educational issues specific to the acquisition of mathematical competencies by engineering and science students at all university levels are also touched on.Researchers and university students are the natural audiences for this book, which can be equally appealing to practitioners seeking up-to-date techniques in mathematical applications to different contexts and disciplines.

This volume convenes selected, peer-reviewed works presented at the Partial Differential Equations and Applications Colloquium in Honor of Prof. Hamidou Toure that was held at the University Ouaga 1, Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, November 5–9, 2018.Topics covered in this volume include boundary value problems for difference equations, differential forms in global analysis, functional differential equations, and stability in the context of PDEs. Studies on SIR and SIRS epidemic models, of special interest to researchers in epidemiology, are also included.This volume is dedicated to Dr. Hamidou Touré, a Research Professor at the University of Ouaga 1. Dr. Touré has made important scientific contributions in many fields of mathematical sciences. Dr. Touré got his PhD (1994) from the University of Franche-Comté of Besançon, France, and is one of the key leaders and mentor of several generations of mathematicians in French-speaking Africa.This conference was purposely held in Ouagadougou in reverence of Dr. Touré's efforts for the development of mathematics in Africa since the beginning of his career in early 1982 to the current days.

This handbook consists of seventeen chapters written by eminent scientists from the international mathematical community, who present important research works in the field of mathematical analysis and related subjects, particularly in the Ulam stability theory of functional equations. The book provides an insight into a large domain of research with emphasis to the discussion of several theories, methods and problems in approximation theory, analytic inequalities, functional analysis, computational algebra and applications.The notion of stability of functional equations has its origins with S. M. Ulam, who posed the fundamental problem for approximate homomorphisms in 1940 and with D. H. Hyers, Th. M. Rassias, who provided the first significant solutions for additive and linear mappings in 1941 and 1978, respectively. During the last decade the notion of stability of functional equations has evolved into a very active domain of mathematical research with several applications of interdisciplinary nature.The chapters of this handbook focus mainly on both old and recent developments on the equation of homomorphism for square symmetric groupoids, the linear and polynomial functional equations in a single variable, the Drygas functional equation on amenable semigroups, monomial functional equation, the Cauchy–Jensen type mappings, differential equations and differential operators, operational equations and inclusions, generalized module left higher derivations, selections of set-valued mappings, D'Alembert's functional equation, characterizations of information measures, functional equations in restricted domains, as well as generalized functional stability and fixed point theory.

This book discusses the rapidly developing subject of mathematical analysis that deals primarily with stability of functional equations in generalized spaces. The fundamental problem in this subject was proposed by Stan M. Ulam in 1940 for approximate homomorphisms. The seminal work of Donald H. Hyers in 1941 and that of Themistocles M. Rassias in 1978 have provided a great deal of inspiration and guidance for mathematicians worldwide to investigate this extensive domain of research.The book presents a self-contained survey of recent and new results on topics including basic theory of random normed spaces and related spaces; stability theory for new function equations in random normed spaces via fixed point method, under both special and arbitrary t-norms; stability theory of well-known new functional equations in non-Archimedean random normed spaces; and applications in the class of fuzzy normed spaces. It contains valuable results on stability in random normed spaces, and is geared toward both graduate students and research mathematicians and engineers in a broad area of interdisciplinary research.

These Lecture Notes contain the material relative to the courses given at the CIME summer school held in Cetraro, Italy from August 29 to September 3, 2011. The topic was'Hamilton-Jacobi Equations: Approximations, Numerical Analysis and Applications'. The courses dealt mostly with the following subjects: first order and second order Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations, properties of viscosity solutions, asymptotic behaviors, mean field games, approximation and numerical methods, idempotent analysis. The content of the courses ranged from an introduction to viscosity solutions to quite advanced topics, at the cutting edge of research in the field. We believe that they opened perspectives on new and delicate issues. These lecture notes contain four contributions by Yves Achdou (Finite Difference Methods for Mean Field Games), Guy Barles (An Introduction to the Theory of Viscosity Solutions for First-order Hamilton-Jacobi Equations and Applications), Hitoshi Ishii (A Short Introduction to Viscosity Solutions and the Large Time Behavior of Solutions of Hamilton-Jacobi Equations) and Grigory Litvinov (Idempotent/Tropical Analysis, the Hamilton-Jacobi and Bellman Equations).
