This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post workshop proceedings of the 10th International Workshop on Approximation and Online Algorithms, WAOA 2012, held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in September 2012 as part of the ALGO 2012 conference event. The 22 revised full papers presented together with invited talk were carefully reviewed and selected from 60 submissions. The workshop covered areas such as geometric problems, online algorithms, scheduling, algorithmic game theory, and approximation algorithms.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post workshop proceedings of the 8th International Workshop on Approximation and Online Algorithms, WAOA 2010, held in Liverpool, UK, in September 2010 as part of the ALGO 2010 conference event.The 23 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed andselected from 58 submissions. The workshop covered areas such asalgorithmic game theory, approximation classes, coloring andpartitioning, competitive analysis, computational finance, cuts andconnectivity, geometric problems, inapproximability results, echanismdesign, network design, packing and covering, paradigms for design and analysis of approximation and online algorithms, parameterizedcomplexity, randomization techniques, real-world applications, andscheduling problems.

This Festschrift volume, published in honour of J. Ian Munro, contains contributions written by some of his colleagues, former students, and friends. In celebration of his 66th birthday the colloquium'Conference on Space Efficient Data Structures, Streams and Algorithms'was held in Waterloo, ON, Canada, during August 15-16, 2013. The articles presented herein cover some of the main topics of Ian's research interests. Together they give a good overall perspective of the last 40 years of research in algorithms and data structures.

The Fifth Workshop on Approximation and Online Algorithms (WAOA 2007) focused on the design and analysis of algorithms for online and computationally hard problems. Both kinds of problems have a large number of applications from a variety of?elds. WAOA 2007 took place in Eilat, Israel, during October 11–12, 2007. The workshop was part of the ALGO 2007 event that also hosted ESA 2007, and PEGG 2007. The previous WAOA workshops were held in Budapest (2003), Rome (2004), Palma de Mallorca (2005) and Zurich (2006). The proceedings of these previous WAOA workshops have appeared as LNCS volumes 2909, 3351, 3879 and 4368, respectively. Topics of interest for WAOA 2007 were: algorithmic game theory, appro- mation classes, coloring and partitioning, competitive analysis, computational?nance, cuts and connectivity, geometric problems, inapproximability results, mechanism design, network design, packing and covering, paradigms for design and analysis of approximation and online algorithms, randomization techniques, real-world applications, and scheduling problems. In response to the call for - pers, we received 56 submissions. Each submission was reviewed by at least three referees, and the vast majority by at least four referees. The submissions were mainly judged on originality, technical quality, and relevance to the topics of the conference. Based on the reviews, the Program Committee selected 22 papers. We are grateful to Andrei Voronkov for providing the EasyChair conference system which was used to manage the electronic submissions, the review process, and the electronic PC meeting. It made our task much easier.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the 4th International Workshop on Approximation and Online Algorithms, WAOA 2006, held in Zurich, Switzerland in September 2006 as part of the ALGO 2006 conference event. The 26 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 62 submissions.

The 32nd International Workshop on Graph-Theoretic Concepts in Computer Science (WG 2006) was held on the island of Sotra close to the city of Bergen on the west coast of Norway. The workshop was organized by the Algorithms Research Group at the Department of Informatics, University of Bergen, and it took place from June 22 to June 24. The 78 participants of WG 2006 came from the universities and research institutes of 17 di?erent countries. The WG 2006 workshop continues the series of 31 previous WG workshops. Since 1975,WG has taken place 20 times in Germany, four times in The Neth- lands, twice in Austria as well as oncein France,in Italy, in Slovakia,in Switz- land and in the Czech Republic, and has now been held for the?rst time in Norway. The workshop aims at uniting theory and practice by demonstrating how graph-theoretic concepts can be applied to various areas in computer s- ence, or by extracting new problems from applications. The goal is to present recent research results and to identify and explore directions of future research. The talks showed how recent researchresults from algorithmic graph theory can be used in computer science and which graph-theoreticquestions arisefrom new developments in computer science. There were two fascinating invited lectures by Hans Bodlaender (Utrecht, The Netherlands) and Tandy Warnow (Austin, USA).

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 17th International Conference and Workshops on Algorithms and Computation, WALCOM 2023, which took place in Hsinchu, Taiwan, in March 2023. The 30 full papers presented together with 2 invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 75 submissions. This book constitutes the proceedings of the 16th International Workshop on Computer Algebra in Scientific Computing, CASC 2014, held in Warsaw, Poland, in September 2014. This volume constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 16th International Workshop on Combinatorial Image Analysis, IWCIA 2014, held in Brno, Czech Republic, in May 2014. The 20 revised full papers and 3 invited papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The topics covered include discrete geometry and topology in imaging science, new results in image representation, segmentation, grouping, and reconstruction, medical image processing.

Geometric Modeling and Scientific Visualization are both established disciplines, each with their own series of workshops, conferences and journals. But clearly both disciplines overlap, which led to the idea of composing a book on Geometric Modeling for Scientific Visualization. The editors received 39 submissions of high-quality research and survey papers, from which the 27 strongest are published in this book. All papers underwent a strict refereeing process. Topics covered include: Surface Reconstruction and Interpolation; Surface Interrogation and Modeling; Wavelets and Compression on Surfaces; Topology, Distance Fields and Solid Modeling; and others.

The Algorithms and Data Structures Symposium - WADS (formerly'Workshop on Algorithms and Data Structures') is intended as a forum for researchers in the area of design and analysis of algorithms and data structures. The 44 revised full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 139 submissions. The papers present original research on algorithms and data structures in all areas, including bioinformatics, combinatorics, computational geometry, databases, graphics, and parallel and distributed computing.

Visualization in scientific computing is getting more and more attention from many people. Especially in relation with the fast increase of com­ puting power, graphic tools are required in many cases for interpreting and presenting the results of various simulations, or for analyzing physical phenomena. The Eurographics Working Group on Visualization in Scientific Com­ puting has therefore organized a first workshop at Electricite de France (Clamart) in cooperation with ONERA (Chatillon). A wide range of pa­ pers were selected in order to cover most of the topics of interest for the members of the group, for this first edition, and 26 of them were presented in two days. Subsequently 18 papers were selected for this volume. 1'he presentations were organized in eight small sessions, in addition to discussions in small subgroups. The first two sessions were dedicated to the specific needs for visualization in computational sciences: the need for graphics support in large computing centres and high performance net­ works, needs of research and education in universities and academic cen­ tres, and the need for effective and efficient ways of integrating numerical computations or experimental data and graphics. Three of those papers are in Part I of this book. The third session discussed the importance and difficulties of using stan­ dards in visualization software, and was related to the fourth session where some reference models and distributed graphics systems were discussed. Part II has five papers from these sessions.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 19th Annual European Symposium on Algorithms, ESA 2011, held in Saarbrücken, Germany, in September 2011 in the context of the combined conference ALGO 2011. The 67 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 255 initial submissions: 55 out of 209 in track design and analysis and 12 out of 46 in track engineering and applications. The papers are organized in topical sections on approximation algorithms, computational geometry, game theory, graph algorithms, stable matchings and auctions, optimization, online algorithms, exponential-time algorithms, parameterized algorithms, scheduling, data structures, graphs and games, distributed computing and networking, strings and sorting, as well as local search and set systems.

The 14th issue of the Transactions on Computational Science journal contains nine papers, all revised and extended versions of papers presented at the International Symposium on Voronoi Diagrams 2010, held in Quebec City, Canada, in June 2010. The topics covered include: the development of new generalized Voronoi diagrams and algorithms including round-trip Voronoi diagrams, maximal zone diagrams, Jensen-Bregman Voronoi diagrams, hyperbolic Voronoi diagrams, and moving network Voronoi diagrams; new algorithms based on Voronoi diagrams for applications in science and engineering, including geosensor networks deployment and optimization and homotopic object reconstruction; and the application of Delaunay triangulation for modeling and representation of Cosmic Web and rain fall distribution.

Theidea ofa refereedconferencefor the mathematicalprogrammingcommunity was proposed by Ravi Kannan and William Pulleyblank to the Mathematical Programming Society (MPS) in the late 1980s. Thus IPCO was born, and MPS has sponsored the conference as one of its main events since IPCO I at the University of Waterloo in 1990. The conference has become the main forum for recent results in Integer Programming and Combinatorial Optimization in the non-Symposium years. This volume compiles the papers presented at IPCO XIV held June 9-11, 2010, at EPFL in Lausanne. The scope of papers considered for IPCO XIV is likely broader than at IPCO I. This is sometimes due to the wealth of new questions and directions brought from related areas. It can also be due to the successful application of “math programming” techniques to models not tra- tionally considered. In any case, the interest in IPCO is greater than ever and this is re?ected in both the number (135) and quality of the submissions. The ProgrammeCommittee with 13 memberswasalsoIPCO'slargest. We thankthe members of the committee, as well as their sub-reviewers, for their exceptional (and time-consuming) work and especially during the online committee meeting held over January. The process resulted in the selection of 34 excellent research papers which were presented in non-parallel sessions over three days in L- sanne. Unavoidably, this has meant that many excellent submissions were not able to be included.

The Annual International Frontiers in Algorithmics Workshop is a focused - rum on current trends in research on algorithms, discrete structures, and their applications. It intends to bring together international experts at the research frontiers in those areas to exchange ideas and to present signi?cant new results. The mission of the workshop is to stimulate the various?elds for which al- rithmics can become a crucial enabler, and to strengthen the ties between the Eastern and Western algorithmics research communities. The Second Inter- tional Frontiers in Algorithmics Workshop (FAW 2008) took place in Changsha, China, June 19–21, 2008. In response to the Call for Papers, 80 papers were submitted from 15 co- tries and regions: Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and the USA. After a six-week period of careful reviewing and discussion, the Program C- mittee accepted 32 submissions for presentation at the conference. These papers were selected for nine special focus tracks in the areas of biomedical inform- ics, discrete structures, geometric information processing and communication, games and incentive analysis, graph algorithms, internet algorithms and pro- cols, parameterized algorithms, design and analysis of heuristics, approximate and online algorithms, and machine learning. The program of FAW 2008 also included three keynote talks by Xiaotie Deng, John E. Hopcroft, and Milan Sonka.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 18th International Symposium on Algorithms and Computation, ISAAC 2007, held in Sendai, Japan, in December 2007. The 77 revised full papers presented together with two invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 220 submissions. The papers included topical sections on graph algorithms, computational geometry, complexity, graph drawing, distributed algorithms, optimization, data structure, and game theory.

The papers in this volume were presented at the 10th Workshop on Algorithms and Data Structures (WADS 2005). The workshop took place August 15 - 17, 2007, at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. The workshop alternates with the Scandinavian Workshop on Algorithm Theory (SWAT), continuing the t- dition of SWAT and WADS starting with SWAT 1988 and WADS 1989. From 142 submissions, the Program Committee selected 54 papers for presentation at the workshop. In addition, invited lectures were given by the following dist- guished researchers: Je? Erickson (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) and Mike Langston (University of Tennessee). On behalf of the Program Committee, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the many persons whose e?ort contributed to making WADS 2007 a success.
