This proceedings volume gathers selected, peer-reviewed papers presented at the Dynamical Systems Theory and Applications International Conference - DSTA 2021, held virtually on December 6-9, 2021, organized by the Department of Automation, Biomechanics, and Mechatronics at Lodz University of Technology, Poland. This volume focuses on numerical and analytical approaches, while Volume I concentrates on studies on applications.Being a truly international conference, this 16th iteration of DSTA received submissions from authors representing 52 countries. The program covered both theoretical and experimental approaches to widely understood dynamical systems, including topics devoted to bifurcations and chaos, control in dynamical systems, asymptotic methods in nonlinear dynamics, stability of dynamical systems, lumped mass and continuous systems vibrations, original numerical methods of vibration analysis, non-smooth systems, dynamics in life sciences and bioengineering, as well as engineering systems and differential equations.DSTA conferences aim to provide a common platform for exchanging new ideas and results of recent research in scientific and technological advances in modern dynamical systems. Works contained in this volume can appeal to researchers in the field, whether in mathematics or applied sciences, and practitioners in myriad industries.

This volume convenes carefully selected, peer-reviewed papers presented at the BIOMAT 2023 International Symposium, which was virtually held on November 6-9, 2023, with an organization staff based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In this volume, the reader will find studies on the epidemic model of the COVID-19 pandemic, aspects of risk-based testing and quarantine, as well as joint efforts in the search for the perfect vaccine. Additionally, the volume covers the influence of fear and the saturated fear cost in predator-prey dynamics, optimal control techniques applied to HPV infection and cervical cancer cells, generic epidemic models for disease propagation, discretized SIS model with no vertical transmission, dynamics of vibrio-phage interactions, and antibiotics treatment for septic arthritis. The content of the book collects some contributions related to the talks presented during the INdAM Workshop'Fractional Differential Equations: Modelling, Discretization, and Numerical Solvers', held in Rome, Italy, on July 12–14, 2021. All contributions are original and not published elsewhere. The main topic of the book is fractional calculus, a topic that addresses the study and application of integrals and derivatives of noninteger order. These operators, unlike the classic operators of integer order, are nonlocal operators and are better suited to describe phenomena with memory (with respect to time and/or space). Although the basic ideas of fractional calculus go back over three centuries, only in recent decades there has been a rapid increase in interest in this field of research due not only to the increasing use of fractional calculus in applications in biology, physics, engineering, probability, etc., but also thanks to the availability of new and more powerful numerical tools that allow for an efficient solution of problems that until a few years ago appeared unsolvable. The analytical solution of fractional differential equations (FDEs) appears even more difficult than in the integer case. Hence, numerical analysis plays a decisive role since practically every type of application of fractional calculus requires adequate numerical tools. The aim of this book is therefore to collect and spread ideas mainly coming from the two communities of numerical analysts operating in this field - the one working on methods for the solution of differential problems and the one working on the numerical linear algebra side - to share knowledge and create synergies. At the same time, the book intends to realize a direct bridge between researchers working on applications and numerical analysts. Indeed, the book collects papers on applications, numerical methods for differential problems of fractional order, and related aspects in numerical linear algebra.The target audience of the book is scholars interested in recent advancements in fractional calculus.

This volume collects papers based on plenary and invited talks given at the 50th Barrett Memorial Lectures on Approximation, Applications, and Analysis of Nonlocal, Nonlinear Models that was organized by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and held virtually in May 2021. The three-day meeting brought together experts from the computational, scientific, engineering, and mathematical communities who work with nonlocal models. These proceedings collect contributions and give a survey of the state of the art in computational practices, mathematical analysis, applications of nonlocal models, and explorations of new application domains. This book contains reports made at the International Conference on Differential Equations, Mathematical Modeling and Computational Algorithms, held in Belgorod, Russia, in October 2021 and is devoted to various aspects of the theory of differential equations and their applications in various branches of science. Theoretical papers devoted to the qualitative analysis of emerging mathematical objects, theorems of the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the boundary value problems under study are presented, and numerical algorithms for their solution are described. This monograph introduces a new mathematical model in population dynamics that describes two species sharing the same environmental resources in a situation of open hostility. Its main feature is the expansion of the family of Lotka-Volterra systems by introducing a new term that defines aggression. Because the model is flexible, it can be applied to various scenarios in the context of human populations, such as strategy games, competition in the marketplace, and civil wars. Drawing from a variety of methodologies within dynamical systems, ODEs, and mathematical biology, the authors'approach focuses on the dynamical properties of the system. This is accomplished by detecting and describing all possible equilibria, and analyzing the strategies that may lead to the victory of the aggressive population. Techniques typical of two-dimensional dynamical systems are used, such as asymptotic behaviors regulated by the Poincaré–Bendixson Theorem. A New Lotka-Volterra Model of Competition With Strategic Aggression will appeal to researchers and students studying population dynamics and dynamical systems, particularly those interested in the cross section between mathematics and ecology.

This monograph presents an original method to unify the mathematical theories of well-posed problems and contact mechanics. The author uses a new concept called the Tykhonov triple to develop a well-posedness theory in which every convergence result can be interpreted as a well-posedness result. This book highlights several methods and quantitative implementations of both probabilistic and fuzzy-based approaches to uncertainty quantification and uncertainty propagation through environmental subsurface pollution models with uncertain input parameters.
