This book contains the doctoral dissertations of three students from Novosibirsk who participated in the seminar of L. A. Bokut‴. The dissertation of Gerasimov focuses on Cohn's theory of noncommutative matrix localizations. Gerasimov presents a construction of matrix localization that is not directly related to (prime) matrix ideals of Cohn, but rather deals with localizations of arbitrary subsets of matrices over a ring. The work of Valitskas applies ideas and constructions of Gerasimov to embeddings of rings into radical rings (in the sense of Jacobson) to develop a theory essentially parallel to Cohn's theory of embeddings of rings into skew fields. Nesterenko's dissertation solves some important problems of Anan‴in and Bergman about representations of (infinite-dimensional) algebras and categories in (triangular) matrices over commutative rings.

This book contains eight papers on representations and cohomology of Lie algebras. The Lie algebras here are either infinite-dimensional, are defined over fields of finite characteristic, or are actually Lie superalgebras or quantum groups. Among the topics covered here are generalizations of the Virasoro algebra, representation theory of the Virasoro algebra and of Kac-Moody algebras, cohomology of Lie algebras of vector fields on the line, and Lie superalgebras of vector fields. The paper by Retakh and Shander contains a generalization of the Schwarz derivative to the noncommutative case.

This is the second paper in the series of papers dedicated to the study of natural cluster structures in the rings of regular functions on simple complex Lie groups and Poisson–Lie structures compatible with these cluster structures. According to our main conjecture, each class in the Belavin–Drinfeld classification of Poisson–Lie structures on $\mathcal{G}$ corresponds to a cluster structure in $\mathcal{O}(\mathcal{G})$. The authors have shown before that this conjecture holds for any $\mathcal{G}$ in the case of the standard Poisson–Lie structure and for all Belavin–Drinfeld classes in $SL_n$, $n<5$. In this paper the authors establish it for the Cremmer–Gervais Poisson–Lie structure on $SL_n$, which is the least similar to the standard one.

This book is a collection of selected papers written by students and active participants of the A. A. Kirillov seminar on representation theory held at Moscow University. The papers deal with various aspects of representation theory for Lie algebras and Lie groups, and its relationship to algebraic combinatorics, the theory of quantum groups and geometry. This volume reflects current research interests of the leading representatives of the Russian school of representation theory. This book contains papers presented at the Third Siberian School: Algebra and Analysis, held in Irkutsk in the summer of 1989. Drawing 130 participants from all over the former Soviet Union, the school sought to acquaint Siberian and other mathematicians with the latest achievements in a wide variety of mathematical areas and to give young researchers an opportunity to present their work. The USA-Uzbekistan Conference on Analysis and Mathematical Physics, focusing on contemporary issues in dynamical systems, mathematical physics, operator algebras, and several complex variables, was hosted by California State University, Fullerton, from May 20–23, 2014. The main objective of the conference was to facilitate scientific communication and collaboration between mathematicians from the USA and Uzbekistan. This volume contains the proceedings of the Special Session on Algebra and Functional Analysis. The theory of operator algebras is the unified theme for many papers in this volume. Out of four extensive survey papers, two cover problems related to derivation of various algebras of functions. The other two surveys are on classification of Leibniz algebras and on evolution algebras. The sixteen research articles are devoted to certain analytic topics, such as minimal projections with respect to numerical radius, functional equations and discontinuous polynomials, Fourier inversion for distributions, Schrödinger operators, convexity and dynamical systems.

This volume is a collection of papers on model theory and its applications. The longest paper, “Model Theory of Unitriangular Groups” by O. V. Belegradek, forms a subtle general theory behind Mal‴tsev's famous correspondence between rings and groups. This is the first published paper on the topic. Given the present model-theoretic interest in algebraic groups, Belegradek's work is of particular interest to logicians and algebraists. The rest of the collection consists of papers on various questions of model theory, mainly on stability theory. Contributors are leading Russian researchers in the field.

This paper gives a theory $S$-modules for Morel and Voevodsky's category of algebraic spectra over an arbitrary field $k$. This is a “point-set” category of spectra which are commutative, associative and unital with respect to the smash product. In particular, $E{\infty}$-ring spectra are commutative monoids in this category. Our approach is similar to that of 7. We start by constructing a category of coordinate-free algebraic spectra, which are indexed on an universe, which is an infinite-dimensional affine space. One issue which arises here, different from the topological case, is that the universe does not come with an inner product. We overcome this difficulty by defining algebraic spectra to be indexed on the subspaces of the universe with finite codimensions instead of finite dimensions, and show that this is equivalent to spectra indexed on the integers. Using the linear injections operad, we also define universe change functors, as well as other important constructions analogous to those in topology, such as the twisted half-smash product. Based on this category of coordinate-free algebraic spectra, we define the category of $S$-modules. In the homotopical part of the paper, we give closed model structures to these categories of algebraic spectra, and show that the resulting homotopy categories are equivalent to Morel and Voevodsky's algebraic stable homotopy category.
