This story is about two civil war veterans. One who became a western rancher, and the brother, who took a criminal direction. The Brother, who became a successful rancher, married and had a son. The other brother, who took the criminal way, wore out his welcome in the other states, and retreated to the ranch, where he ultimately became the foreman due to the failing health of the brother. This story is the struggle of the son who would inherit the ranch if the father should die. If he should not live, the criminal brother would inherit the ranch.

This is the story of a young man who had a price put on his life by an uncle who was violently against mixing races. When the two brothers returned from the civil war, he found that (Bud Black) had married his daughter. To avoid being hanged or killed by the irate father, he took the two best horses, from the barn, and went North. Where he ultimately took the name “Bud Black” This started the story I'm about to tell you… … … …

In the West, certain people were dominant in the beginning of the civil War to 1900. The ranchers, with their struggle for control of the range, were the enemy of the settlers, the buffalo, the Indians, the Sheep men, and often, each other. This leaves opportunity for a writer, to create many valid stories that would be consistent with the historical times. As the Author of this story, I have attempted to take advantage of these concepts.
