Les fondamentaux de la formation à l'enseignement explicite : en théorie et en pratique. Pour choisir ses pratiques pédagogiques, tout enseignant est confronté à une multitude d'informations de qualité variable. Certaines reposent sur des traditions ou encore des opinions, tandis que d'autres reposent sur des recherches de terrain, ayant permis d'en démontrer l'efficacité. C'est notamment le cas de l'enseignement explicite, une approche pédagogique qui permet au plus grand nombre d'élèves de réussir, et ce, indépendamment de leurs caractéristiques initiales telles que l'origine sociale. En ce sens, l'enseignement explicite est donc également équitable. En utilisant cette démarche, l'enseignant tente de rendre accessible à tous ce qui se passe en classe (les démarches, les objectifs...), considérant que l'implicite peut être néfaste aux apprentissages, notamment des élèves en difficultés. Pour ce faire, l'enseignant met en oeuvre un ensemble de gestes professionnels de gestion des apprentissages et de classe présentés en détail dans ce livre. Les stratégies décrites sont « transversales » et utiles pour les différents niveaux d'enseignement ; les différentes disciplines.

Despite the relatively recent popularity of culminating experiences, a multidisciplinary and practical resource that provides information for all types of culminating student experiences is not yet available. The idea for this volume arose because of the recognition that a holistic and applied resource for those looking to have general knowledge of different ways to assess student learning, especially at the undergraduate level was lacking. This text seeks to fill a gap and provide a historical context for culminating experiences, suggestions for assessment, foundational knowledge for different types of projects, and finally approaches to using these experiences in various disciplines. In the twenty years since Ray Land and Erik Meyer published their first paper on Threshold Concepts, there has been a steady stream of papers mulling over their original suggestions that learning, far from proceeding in an orderly fashion, is instead a process of struggle – perhaps alienation and confusion – that puts students in a troublesome liminal ‘in-between'state. Our Bodies Tell the Story centers around the co/autoethnography of personal narratives, stories, and a kind of survival testimonies, the ways in which the authors bore witness to each other's lives. This book presents a comparative ethnographic understanding of government and low-fee private schools in India within the context of ever-increasing privatization and commercialization of education and the growing presence of non-state actors.Drawing on rich empirical data, the book provides an ethnographic account of a government and a low-fee private school in Hyderabad, India, and explores life in these two distinct spaces through the lens of culture. This handbook examines what education would look like if it prepared gifted students to transform the world—to make it a better place for all, not just for those who receive extra resources from schools in return for being labeled as “gifted.” The editors explore how transformationally gifted people can seek to make the world a better and more just place: they try to make a positive, meaningful, and possibly enduring contribution to changing things in the world that are not working. They do not view “giftedness” merely as a transaction whereby, in exchange for being labeled as “gifted,” they accrue benefits to themselves: such as a more prestigious education, more income, or residence in a more exclusive community. The overarching aim of this book is to present conceptions of what identification and instruction of the gifted would look like if the focus of gifted education was transformational rather than transactional. What if gifted education did not focus so much on acceleration vs.enrichment, or pull-out versus in-class integration, but rather on how to be gifted in giving back—in using one's gifts to create a better world?

Highlighting the changing landscape of Chinese urban state schools under the pressure of recruiting a tremendous number of migrant children, this book examines the quality of state educational provisions from demographic, institutional, familial and cultural angles.Rooted in rich qualitative data from five Chinese metropolitan cities, it identifies the demographic changes in many state schools of becoming ‘migrant majority'and the institutional reformation of ‘interim quasi-state'schools under a low cost and inferior schooling approach. This book also digs into the ‘black box'of cultural reproduction in school and family processes, revealing both a gloomy side of many migrant children's academic underachievement as a result of troubled home-school relations and a bright side that social inclusion of migrant children in state school promotes their adaptation to urban life.
