This book is an open access. The Higher Colleges of Technology's (HCT) General Education Division (GED) and the HCT-Dubai Women's campus are pleased to host the second HCT International General Education Conference on March 15, 2024. The theme of this year's conference is: The Future of Work: Equipping Students with Applied Learning Skills for Success. This theme highlights the critical need to prepare students for the evolving landscape of the labor market and employability. The conference explores the intersection of applied learning and the future of work, recognizing that theoretical knowledge alone is no longer sufficient and that students need to apply their learning in real-world contexts. By engaging in applied learning opportunities, students can develop the skills, mindset, and adaptability required to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the future workplace. The conference seeks to address various aspects related to preparing students for success in the future of work, including: skills development for the digital era; cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset; bridging the gap between education and industry demands; problem solving and critical thinking; and the development of soft skills such as emotional intelligence and interpersonal competence. This edited volume interrogates the meanings of internationalization in higher education in different political-economic contexts.Written by multidisciplinary scholars based in different parts of the world (China, Finland, France, Korea, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, UK, USA), the chapters allow the reader to critically ‘listen in'on glocalized (global + local) discourses of internationalization in education (meanings, epistemologies, critiques and current research/policies). The volume aims to support students and scholars in clarifying for themselves and others what internationalization might mean and entail, using alternative ways of characterizing, critiquing and unsettling internationalization. The authors adopt critical intercultural perspectives in their chapters, based, for example, on humanistic entry points, the continuum of ideological specificities-commonalities, while balancing self-other (acceptance, rejection), questioning the'taken for granted'and offering some decolonial analyses and reflections. Innerhalb der Forschung zur professionellen Kompetenz von Lehrkräften kommen vermehrt videobasierte Kompetenzmessungen zum Einsatz. Durch die Kombination von Videomaterial unterrichtlicher Praxis mit spezifischen Testfragen sollen Rückschlüsse auf handlungsnahe Kompetenzen bzw. sogenannte situationsspezifische Fähigkeiten von Lehrkräften ermöglicht werden. Auf Basis von zwei Literaturreviews untersucht die vorliegende Arbeit die Konzeption und Erfassung situationsspezifischer Fähigkeiten am Beispiel des Konstrukts'Teacher Noticing', welches in der mathematikdidaktischen Forschung besonders verbreitet ist, und gibt einen umfassenden Überblick zu vorliegenden Testinstrumenten, die auf dieses Konstrukt abzielen. Insbesondere wird diskutiert, inwieweit unterschiedliche Messansätze zu vergleichbaren Ergebnissen führen und welche Konsequenzen sich aus der Heterogenität der Messansätze für den wissenschaftlichen Diskurs ergeben. Anhand zweier empirischer Arbeiten wird weiterführend geprüft, inwieweit anspruchsvolle videobasierte Kompetenzmessungen bereits mit Lehramtsstudierenden einsetzbar sind und Rückschlüsse auf deren Kompetenzentwicklung zulassen. Die Ergebnisse stützen dabei grundsätzlich die Einsetzbarkeit in der universitären Phase der Lehrkräfteausbildung, wobei sich nur geringe Zusammenhänge zu den Lerngelegenheiten innerhalb dieses Ausbildungsabschnitts zeigen.

Der Band fasst die Forschung zur Digitalisierung des deutschen Bildungssystems zusammen. Dabei geht es um die Funktion und den sinnvollen Einsatz digitaler Medien für das Lehren und Lernen, und darüber hinaus um die Unterscheidung von Bildungsprozessen, die mithilfe digitaler Medien gestaltet werden, und Bildungsprozessen, die Digitalisierung zum Gegenstand haben.

Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2022 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Allgemein, Note: 1, Johannes Kepler Universität Linz (Institut für Wirtschafts- und Berufspädagogik), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Entsprechend der Selbstbestimmungstheorie („Self-Determination Theory”, SDT) von DECI und RYAN (1993) ist die Wahrnehmung der Befriedigung der „Basic Psychological Needs“ bei den Lernenden eine notwendige, wenn auch nicht immer ausreichende Grundlage für selbstbestimmt motiviertes oder interessiertes Lernen. Einer der hauptsächlichen Bestimmungsfaktoren für die Wahrnehmung des Unterrichts durch die Lernenden und somit auch für ihre Wahrnehmung der Befriedigung der „Basic Psychological Needs“ ist das Lehrerverhalten. Diese Arbeit identifiziert mittels systematischer Literaturübersicht Lehrerverhalten, welches die Erfüllung der „Basic Psychological Needs“ bei den Lernenden fördert. Die vorliegende Arbeit gliedert sich in mehrere Teile; nach der Einleitung kommt ein begriffsbestimmender Teil, der zentrale Begriffe wie Motivation, intrinsische und extrinsische Motivation, Interesse, sowie Lehrerverhalten näher erläutert. Diese einzelnen Begriffe werden durch die'Selbstbestimmungstheorie'nach DECI & RYAN (1993) in einen größeren Zusammenhang eingebettet. Im darauffolgenden Teil wird näher auf die Forschungsmethode eingegangen. Es werden die Forschungsfrage sowie deren Relevanz dargelegt und es wird die Suchstrategie beschrieben. In Kapitel 4 werden die Ergebnisse ausführlich dargestellt. Kapitel 5 führt die Ergebnisse zu einer Synthese zusammen und stellt somit den Kern dieser Arbeit dar. Abschließend werden die Ergebnisse noch einmal zusammenfassend dargestellt und daran anknüpfend Möglichkeiten für weitere Untersuchungen aufgezeigt.

This book is comprised of research-based chapters developed from selected full papers presented at the Pan-Hellenic and International Conference “ICT in Education”. It includes covering technical, pedagogical, organizational, instructional, as well as policy aspects of ICT in Education and e-Learning. Special emphasis is given to applied research relevant to the educational practice guided by the educational realities in schools, colleges, universities and informal learning organizations. Further, the book encompasses current trends, perspectives, and approaches determining e-Learning and ICT integration in practice, including learning and teaching, curriculum and instructional design, learning media and environments, teacher education and professional development. Since 2012, Springer has published a volume entitled “Research on e-Learning and ICT in Education: Technological, Pedagogical and Instructional Issues” at the conclusion of every conference. These volumesare based on research work originally presented in the conference series mentioned above, but the call for chapters is open and disseminated to the international community attracting also international contributions. Furthermore, as the editors are also involved in EU funded international research projects in the area of educational technology, we strongly focus on attracting submissions demonstrating the current state-of-the-art and most recent research outcomes of such projects.
