This volume contains the refereed joint proceedings of two initiatives that have been devoted to the formal foundations of complex systems: the workshops WS-FM:FASOCC 2014 and WS-FM/BEAT 2015. The 11th International Workshop on Web Services and Formal Methods: Formal Aspects of Services-Oriented and Cloud Computing, WS-FM 2014, took place in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, in September 2014. The 12th International Workshop on Web Services, Formal Methods, and Behavioral Types, WS-FM 2015, took place in Madrid, Spain, in September 2015. The total of 8 papers presented in this volume was carefully reviewed and selected from 18 submissions. They were organized in topical sections named: expressiveness of behavioral models; service-oriented systems, and behavioral types.

This volume contains a selection of revised papers that were presented at the Software Aspects of Robotic Systems, SARS 2011 Workshop and the Machine Learning for System Construction, MLSC 2011 Workshop, held during October 17-18 in Vienna, Austria, under the auspices of the International Symposium Series on Leveraging Applications of Formal Methods, Verification, and Validation, ISoLA. The topics covered by the papers of the SARS and the MLSC workshop demonstrate the breadth and the richness of the respective fields of the two workshops stretching from robot programming to languages and compilation techniques, to real-time and fault tolerance, to dependability, software architectures, computer vision, cognitive robotics, multi-robot-coordination, and simulation to bio-inspired algorithms, and from machine learning for anomaly detection, to model construction in software product lines to classification of web service interfaces. In addition the SARS workshop hosted a special session on the recently launched KOROS project on collaborating robot systems that is borne by a consortium of researchers of the faculties of architecture and planning, computer science, electrical engineering and information technology, and mechanical and industrial engineering at the Vienna University of Technology. The four papers devoted to this session highlight important research directions pursued in this interdisciplinary research project.

This book constitutes the refereed post-proceedings of the Second International Workshop on Foundational and Practical Aspects of Resource Analysis, FOPARA 2011, held in Madrid, Spain, in May 2011. The 8 revised full papers were carefully reviewed and selected from the papers presented at the workshop and papers submitted following an open call for contributions after the workshop. This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 23rd International Symposium on Implementation and Application of Functional Languages, IFL 2011, held in Lawrence, Kansas, USA, in October 2011. The 11 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 33 submissions. The papers by researchers and practitioners who are actively engaged in the implementation and the use of functional and function based programming languages describe practical and theoretical work as well as applications and tools. They discuss new ideas and concepts, as well as work in progress and results.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 7th International Workshop on Algorithms for Sensor Systems, Wireless Ad Hoc Networks, and Autonomous Mobile Entities, ALGOSENSORS 2011, held in Saarbrücken, Germany, in September 2011. The 16 revised full papers presented together with two invited keynote talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 31 submissions. The papers are organized in two tracks: sensor networks, covering topics such as localization, lifetime maximization, interference control, neighbor discovery, self-organization, detection, and aggregation; and ad hoc wireless and mobile systems including the topics: routing, scheduling and capacity optimization in the SINR model, continuous monitoring, and broadcasting.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Algebraic Biology, ANB 2010, held at the Castle of Hagenberg, Austria in July/August 2010. The conference is a follow up of the AB Conference. The 10 papers were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The 19 revised selected papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 27 papers and 5 posters presented at the conference. The 18 papers presented together with 4 tool/language demonstration papers were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. SLE's foremost mission is to encourage and organize communication between communities that have traditionally looked at software languages from different, more specialized, and yet complementary perspectives. SLE emphasizes the fundamental notion of languages as opposed to any realization in specific technical spaces.

This book contains a collection of thoroughly refereed papers derived from the First IFIP WG 9.7 Conference on Soviet and Russian Computing, held in Petrozavodsk, Russia, in July 2006. The 32 revised papers were carefully selected from numerous submissions; many of them were translated from Russian. They reflect much of the shining history of computing activities within the former Soviet Union from its origins in the 1950s with the first computers used for military decision-making problems up to the modern period where Russian ICT grew substantially, especially in the field of custom-made programming.

Since the mid 1980s, software agents and multi-agent systems have grown into a very active area of research and also commercial development activity. One of the limiting factors in industry take-up of agent-technology, however, is the lack of adequate software engineering support. The Agent-Oriented Software Engineering Workshop, AOSE, focuses on the synergies and cross fertilization between software engineering and agent research.This volume presents both thoroughly revised selected papers from the AOSE 2010 workshop held at AAMAS 2010 in Toronto, Canada in May 2010 as well as invited articles by leading researchers in the field. The papers feature and discuss studies of personal relationships with artificial partners, their formation, their possibilities and their consequences. Such personal relationships are increasingly attracting attention from scientific fields as (social) robotics, human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, psychology, philosophy, sociology.

This volume constitutes the revised selected papers of the 6th International Workshop, DALT 2008, held as satellite workshop of AAMAS 2008, the 7th International Joint Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems, in Estoril, Portugal, on May 12, 2008. The 12 papers, presented together with 3 invited papers, were carefully reviewed and selected from 14 submissions. The workshop provided a discussion forum to both (i) support the transfer of declarative paradigms and techniques to the broader community of agent researchers and practitioners, and (ii) to bring the issue of designing complex agent systems to the attention of researchers working on declarative languages and technologies.

Although everyone recognizes communication as a central concept in mul- agents, many no longer see agent communication as a research topic. Unf- tunately there seems to be a tendency to regard communication as a kind of information exchange that can easily be covered using the standard FIPA ACL. However, the papers in this volume show that research in agent communication is far from?nished. If we want to develop the full potential of multi-agent s- tems, agent communication should also develop to a level beyond parameter or value passing as is done in OO approaches! In this book we present the latest collection of papers around the topic of agentcommunication.Thecollectioncomprisesofthebestpapersfromtheagent communication workshops of 2005 and 2006, enriched with a few revised agent communication papers from the AAMAS conference. Due to some unfortunate circumstances the proceedings of the 2005 workshop were delayed, but it gave us the opportunity to join the best papers of the 2006 edition to this volume. Together these papers give a very good overview of the state of the art in this areaofresearchandgiveagoodindicationofthetopicsthatareofmajorinterest at the moment.

Machine learning of software artefacts is an emerging area of interaction between the machine learning and software analysis communities. Increased productivity in software engineering relies on the creation of new adaptive, scalable tools that can analyse large and continuously changing software systems. These require new software analysis techniques based on machine learning, such as learning-based software testing, invariant generation or code synthesis. Machine learning is a powerful paradigm that provides novel approaches to automating the generation of models and other essential software artifacts. This volume originates from a Dagstuhl Seminar entitled'Machine Learning for Dynamic Software Analysis: Potentials and Limits” held in April 2016. The seminar focused on fostering a spirit of collaboration in order to share insights and to expand and strengthen the cross-fertilisation between the machine learning and software analysis communities. The book provides an overview of the machine learning techniques that can be used for software analysis and presents example applications of their use. Besides an introductory chapter, the book is structured into three parts: testing and learning, extension of automata learning, and integrative approaches.

The Workshop on a Formal Methods Body of Knowledge for Railway Control and Safety Systems (FM-RAIL-BOK). In many engineering-based application areas such as in the railway domain, formal methods have reached a level of maturity that already enables the compilation of a so-called body of knowledge. The Second International Symposium on Modelling and Knowledge Management for Sustainable Development (MoKMaSD). The aim was to bring together researchers and practitioner from academia, industry, government and non-government organisations to present research results and exchange experience, ideas and solutions for modelling and analysing complex systems. In particular in areas including economy, governance, health, biology, ecology, climate and poverty reduction. The 7th International Workshop on Foundations and Techniques for Open Source Software Certification (Open Cert). The aim was to bring together researchers from Academia and Industry interested in the quality assessment of OSS projects, as well as the metrics, procedures and tools used in OSS communities and for the measurement and assessment of OSS quality.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the Third International Workshop on Foundational and Practical Aspects of Resource Analysis, FOPARA 2013, held in Bertinoro, Italy, in August 2013. The 9 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 12 submissions. They deal with traditional approaches to complexity analysis, differential privacy, and probabilistic analysis of programs.

The present volume contains the proceedings of the Third IPM International Conference on Fundamentals of Software Engineering (FSEN), Kish, Iran, April 15–17, 2009. FSEN 2009 was organized by the School of Computer Science at the Institute for Studies in Fundamental Sciences (IPM) in Iran, in cooperation with the ACM SIGSOFT and IFIP WG 2.2. This conference brought together around 100 researchers and practitioners working on di?erent aspects of formal methods in software engineering from 15 di?erentcountries.ThetopicsofinterestinFSENspanoverallaspects offormal methods,especiallythoserelatedtoadvancingtheapplicationofformalmethods in software industry and promoting their integration with practical engineering techniques. The Program Committee of FSEN 2009 consisted of top researchers from 24 di?erent academic institutes in 11 countries. We received a total of 88 submissions from 25 countries out of which the Program Committee selected 22 as regular papers, 5 as short papers, and 7 as poster presentations in the conferenceprogram.Eachsubmissionwasreviewedbyatleastthreeindependent referees, for its quality, originality, contribution, clarity of presentation, and its relevance to the conference topics. This volume contains the revised versions of the regular and short papers presented at FSEN 2009. Three distinguished keynote speakers delivered their lectures at FSEN 2009 on models of computation: automata and processes (Jos Baeten), veri?cation, performanceanalysisandcontrollersynthesisforreal-timesystems(KimLarsen), and theory and tool for component-based model-driven development in rCOS (Zhiming Liu). Our invited speakers also contributed to this volume by s- mitting their keynote papers, which were accepted after they were reviewed by independent referees.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-workshop proceedings of the 7th International Workshop on Declarative Agent Languages and Technologies, DALT 2009, held in Budapest, Hungary, on May 11, 2009, as a satellite workshop of the 8th International Joint Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems, AAMAS 2009. The 11 revised full papers presented together with 1 invited lecture and 3 invited papers from the AAMAS main conference - substantially enhanced after the workshop - were carefully selected from 17 initial submissions. The papers combine declarative and formal approaches with engineering and technology aspects of agents and multiagent systems and focus especially on areas such as the semantic web, service-oriented computing, web services, security, and electronic contracting.
