This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Conference on Security, Privacy and Applied Cryptography Engineering held in Chennai, India, in November 2012.The 11 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 61 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on symmetric-key algorithms and cryptanalysis, cryptographic implementations, side channel analysis and countermeasures, fault tolerance of cryptosystems, physically unclonable functions, public-key schemes and cryptanalysis, analysis and design of security protocol, security of systems and applications, high-performance computing in cryptology and cryptography in ubiquitous devices.

The LNCS journal Transactions on Computational Science reflects recent developments in the field of Computational Science, conceiving the field not as a mere ancillary science, but rather as an innovative approach supporting many other scientific disciplines. The journal focuses on original high-quality research in the realm of computational science in parallel and distributed environments, encompassing the facilitating theoretical foundations and the applications of large-scale computations and massive data processing. It addresses researchers and practitioners in areas ranging from aerospace to biochemistry, from electronics to geosciences, from mathematics to software architecture, presenting verifiable computational methods, findings and solutions and enabling industrial users to apply techniques of leading-edge, large-scale, high performance computational methods. CHES 2009, the 11th workshop on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems, was held in Lausanne, Switzerland, September 6–9, 2009. The wo- shop was sponsored by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR). The workshop attracted a record number of 148 submissions from 29 co- tries, of which the Program Committee selected 29 for publication in the wo- shop proceedings, resulting in an acceptance rate of 19.6%, the lowest in the history of CHES. The review process followed strict standards: each paper - ceived at least four reviews, and some asmanyaseightreviews.Membersofthe Program Committee were restricted to co-authoring at most two submissions, and their papers were evaluated by an extended number of reviewers. The ProgramCommittee included 53 members representing 20 countries and?ve continents. These members were carefully selected to represent academia, industry, and government, as well as to include world-class experts in various research?elds of interest toCHES. The Program Committee was supported by 148 external reviewers. The total number of people contributing to the - view process, including Program Committee members, external reviewers, and Program Co-chairs, exceeded 200. The papers collected in this volume represent cutting-edge worldwide - search in the rapidly growing and evolving area of cryptographic engineering.

The book contains 2 invited talks and 27 revised full papers which were carefully reviewed and selected from 107 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on side channel analysis, implementations, fault analysis, random number generation, and cryptography and cryptanalysis.
