This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed revised selected papers of the 20th International Symposium on Trends in Functional Programming, TFP 2019, held in Vancouver, Canada, in June 2019. The 6 revised full papers were selected from 11 submissions and present papers in all aspects of functional programming, taking a broad view of current and future trends in the area. It aspires to be a lively environment for presenting the latest research results, and other contributions, described in draft papers submitted prior to the symposium.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 18th Asian Symposium on Programming Languages and Systems, APLAS 2020, held in Fukuoka, Japan, in December 2020.•The 19 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 46 submissions. They were organized in topical sections named: Invited Papers, Types, Program Analysis, Semantics, Language Design and Implementation, Concurrency, Verification, and Logic and Automata. • The conference was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This volume was published in honor of Rocco De Nicola's 65th birthday. The Festschrift volume contains 27 papers written by close collaborators and friends of Rocco De Nicola and was presented to Rocco on the 1st of July 2019 during a two-day symposium held in Lucca, Italy. The papers present many research ideas that have been influenced by Rocco's work. They testify his intellectual curiosity, versatility and tireless research activity, and provide an overview of further developments to come. The volume consists of six sections. The first one contains a laudation illustrating the distinguished career and the main scientific contributions by Rocco and a witness of working experiences with Rocco. This book constitutes the proceedings of the 15th Asian Symposium on Programming Languages and Systems, APLAS 2017, held in Suzhou, China, in November 2017. The 24 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 56 submissions. They were organized in topical sections named: security; heap and equivalence reasoning; concurrency and verification; domain-specific languages; semantics; and numerical reasoning. The volume also contains two invited talks in full-paper length.

This volume contains the proceedings of the 17th International Conference on Concurrency Theory (CONCUR) held in Bonn, Germany, August 27–30, 2006. The purpose of the CONCUR conference series is to bring together researchers, developers and students in order to advance the theory of concurrency and promote its applications. Interest in this topic is continuously growing, as a consequence of the importance and ubiquity of concurrent systems and their applications and the scientific relevance of their foundations. The scope of CONCUR covers all areas of semantics, logics, and verification techniques for concurrent systems. Topics include basic models and logics of concurrent and distributed computation (such as process algebras, Petri nets, domain theoretic or game theoretic models, modal and temporal logics), specialized models or classes of systems (such as circuits, synchronous systems, real-time and hybrid systems, stochastic systems, databases, mobile and migrating systems, parametric protocols, security protocols), related verification techniques and tools (such as staff space exploration, model-checking, synthesis, abstraction, automated deduction, testing), and related programming models (such as distributed, constraint- or object-oriented, graph rewriting, as well as associated typesystems, static analyses, abstract machines, and environments). This volume starts with five invited papers covering the invited lectures and tutorials of the conference. The remaining 29 papers were selected by the Programme Committee out of 101 submissions after a very intensive reviewing and discussion phase. We would like to thank the members of the Programme Committee and the external reviewers for their excellent and hard work. The conference programme contained three invited lectures and two invited tutorials.

Parallel Virtual Machine (PVM) and Message Passing Interface (MPI) are the most frequently used tools for programming according to the message passing paradigm, which is considered one of the best ways to develop parallel appli- tions. This volume comprises 50 revised contributions presented at the Eighth - ropean PVM/MPI Users'Group Meeting, which was held on Santorini (Thera), Greece,23–26September2001.TheconferencewasorganizedbytheDepartment of Informatics and Telecommunications, University of Athens, Greece. This conference has been previously held in Balatofured, ¨ Hungary (2000), Barcelona, Spain (1999), Liverpool, UK (1998), and Krakow, Poland (1997). The?rst three conferences were devoted to PVM and were held at the TU Munich, Germany (1996), the ENS Lyon, France (1995), and the University of Rome (1994). This conference has become a forum for users and developers of PVM, MPI, and other message passing environments. Interaction between these groups has proved to be very useful for developing new ideas in parallel computing and for applying some of those already existent to new practical?elds. The main topics of the meeting were evaluation and performance of PVM and MPI, extensions and improvements to PVM and MPI, algorithms using the message passing paradigm,andapplicationsinscienceandengineeringbasedonmessagepassing. The conference included one tutorial on MPI and 9 invited talks on advances in MPI, cluster computing, network computing, Grid computing, and parallel programming and programming systems. These proceedings contain papers on the 46 oral presentations together with 4 poster presentations.

This volume contains the proceedings of the Fifth International Conference on Coordination Models and Languages (Coordination 2002), held in York, UK, 8–11 April 2002. Coordination models and languages close the conceptual gap - tween the cooperation model used by the constituent parts of an application and the lower-level communication model used in its implementation. Coordinati- based methods provide a clean separation between individual software com- nents and their interactions within their overall software organization. This se- ration, together with the higher-level abstractions o?ered by coordination models and languages, improve software productivity, enhance maintainability, advocate modularity, promote reusability, and lead to software organizations and arc- tectures that are more tractable and more amenable to veri?cation and global analysis. Coordination is relevant in design, development, debugging, maintenance, and reuse of all complex concurrent and distributed systems. Speci?cally, - ordination becomes paramount in the context of open systems, systems with mobile entities, and dynamically re-con?gurable evolving systems. Moreover, - ordination models and languages focus on such key issues in Component Based Software Engineering as speci?cation, interaction, and dynamic composition of components.

Deployment is the act of taking components and readying them for productive use. There may be steps following deployment, such as installation or m- agement related functions, but all decisions about how to con?gure and c- pose/assemble a component are made at the deployment stage. This is therefore the one opportunity in the software lifecycle to bridge the gap between what the component developer couldn't know about the deployment environment and what the environment's developer couldn't know about the open set of depl- able components. It is not surprising that deployment as a dedicated step gains importance when addressing issues of system-wide qualities, such as coping with constrained resources or preparing for component adaptation and system evolution. Yet, component deployment is still a discipline in its infancy: it became mainstream practice only in the mid 1990s. Much of the best practice impulse originated in products like Microsoft's Transaction Server and its approach to attribute-based programming and later products like Enterprise JavaBeans and now the Corba Component Model. All these address the speci?c needs of enterprise appli- tion servers. However, the potential of the deployment concept goes far beyond this. Deployment can and should touch e?ectively all truly component-based solutions. The proceedings of Component Deployment 2002 represent a good cro- section of the gamut of deployment issues. From customization to address - source constraints to recon?guration of deployed systems and from architecture to design to languages, the avid reader will?nd some contribution.

The purpose of the CONCUR conferences is to bring together researchers, developers, and students in order to advance the theory of concurrency and promote its applications. Interest in this topic is continuously growing, as a consequence of the importance and ubiquity of concurrent systems and their - plications, and of the scienti?c relevance of their foundations. The scope covers all areas of semantics, logics, and veri?cation techniques for concurrent systems. Topics include concurrency related aspects of: models of computation, semantic domains, process algebras, Petri nets, event structures, real-time systems, hybrid systems, decidability, model-checking, veri?cation techniques, re?nement te- niques, term and graph rewriting, distributed programming, logic constraint p- gramming, object-oriented programming, typing systems and algorithms, case studies, tools, and environments for programming and veri?cation. The?rst two CONCUR conferences were held in Amsterdam (NL) in 1990 and 1991. The following ones in Stony Brook (USA), Hildesheim (D), Uppsala (S), Philadelphia (USA), Pisa (I), Warsaw (PL), Nice (F), and Eindhoven (NL). The proceedings have appeared in Springer LNCS, as Volumes 458, 527, 630, 715, 836, 962, 1119, 1243, 1466, and 1664.

On the 23rd of April, 2001, the 6th Workshop on High-Level Parallel P- gramming Models and Supportive Environments (LCTES'98) was held in San Francisco. HIPShas been held over the past six years in conjunction with IPDPS, the Internation Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium. The HIPSworkshop focuses on high-level programming of networks of wo- stations, computing clusters and of massively-parallel machines. Its goal is to bring together researchers working in the areas of applications, language design, compilers, system architecture and programming tools to discuss new devel- ments in programming such systems. In recent years, several standards have emerged with an increasing demand of support for parallel and distributed processing. On one end, message-passing frameworks, such as PVM, MPI and VIA, provide support for basic commu- cation. On the other hand, distributed object standards, such as CORBA and DCOM, provide support for handling remote objects in a client-server fashion but also ensure certain guarantees for the quality of services. The key issues for the success of programming parallel and distributed en- ronments are high-level programming concepts and e?ciency. In addition, other quality categories have to be taken into account, such as scalability, security, bandwidth guarantees and fault tolerance, just to name a few. Today's challenge is to provide high-level programming concepts without s- ri?cing e?ciency. This is only possible by carefully designing for those concepts and by providing supportive programming environments that facilitate program development and tuning.
