This book constitutes revised selected papers from the refereed proceedings of the First Human Centered Computing Conference, HCC 2014, that consolidated and further develops the successful ICPCA/SWS conferences on Pervasive Computing and the Networked World. The 54 full papers and 30 short papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 152 submissions. These proceedings present research papers investigating into a variety of aspects towards human centric intelligent societies. They cover the categories: infrastructure and devices; service and solution; data and knowledge; and community.

This volume constitutes the third of three parts of the refereed proceedings of the First International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology, CCSIT 2010, held in Bangalore, India, in January 2011. The 46 revised full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected. The papers are organized in topical sections on soft computing, such as AI, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Systems, etc.; distributed and parallel systems and algorithms; security and information assurance; ad hoc and ubiquitous computing; wireless ad hoc networks and sensor networks.

This volume of LNICST is a collection of the papers of the 4th International Conference on Bio-Inspired Models of Network, Information, and Computing Systems (Bionetics). The event took place in the medieval city of Avignon, known also as the City of the Popes, during December 9 to 11, 2009. Bionetics main objective is to bring b- inspired paradigms into computer engineereing and networking, and to enhance the fruitful interactions between these fields and biology. The program of the conference indeed includes applications of various paradigms that have their origin in biology: population dynamics, branching processes, ant c- ony optimization. The proceedings include 19 papers covering a broad range of - portant issues in areas related to bio-inspired technologies. They correspond to pr- entations at 6 technical sessions. Four papers correspond to an invited session on the Epidemic-type forwarding in DTNs (sparse mobile ad-hoc wireless networks) org- ized by Dr Francesco De Pellegrini, (Italy, CREATE-NET). The following 9 papers (selected out of 15 submissions) correspond to contributions to regular sessions on Bio-inspired security, Bio-Inspired Networking, Bioinspired algorithms and software systems. The remaining 6 papers (selected out of a total of 9 submissions) are de- cated to work in progress. For each paper, we have provided at least two independent reviews, most of which were offered by members of the TPC.

This small world the great!” Odysseus Elytis 1. 1 Wireless data communications In the 19th century, the advent of the telegraph and telephone forever changed how messages were transmitted around the world. Radio, television, c- puters, and the Internet further revolutionized communication in the 20th 1 century. Equally important, the e?ect of Moore's law is transforming a niche technology into a ubiquitous one, expanding the innovations in an increasingly networked world. Wireless devices are becoming smaller, easier to use and p- vasive. In e?ect, people are depending more and more on wireless information wherever they are. At the dawn of the 21st century, pervasive computing weaves itself into our lives [352, 6, 4, 29, 42, 48, 23, 50, 47, 38, 19, 22, 18]. Today people access local and international news, tra?c or weather - ports, sports, maps, guide books, music, video?les and games via the Int- net [27, 52]. Data volume—medical data, personal multimedia, surveillance for urban areas, web data—is exploding. Similarly, the importance of meta-data, i. e., semantic annotations of what this data means, is also rapidly growing. Analysts expect the growth in mobile location-based services in the European market to reach 622 million euros in 2010, estimating that 18 million users in Europe will subscribe to location-based billing plans by then.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Passive and Active Measurement, PAM 2009, held in Seoul, Korea, in April 2009. The 22 revised full papers and 2 revised demo papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 77 submissions. The papers focus on research and practical applications of routing and forwarding, topology and delay, methods for large-scale measurements, wireless, management tools, audio and video traffic, peer-to-peer, traffic measurements, and measurements of anomalous and unwanted traffic.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third International Workshop on Self-Organizing Systems, IWSOS 2008, held in Vienna, Austria, December 10-12, 2008. The 20 revised full papers and 13 revised short papers presented were carefully selected from the 70 full and 24 short paper submissions from authors from 33 different countries. The papers are organized in topical sections on peer-to-peer systems, overlay networks as well as resource and service management.
