This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Model and Data Engineering, MEDI 2022, held in Cairo, Egypt, in November 2022. The 18 full papers presented in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 65 submissions. The papers cover topics such as database systems, data stream analysis, knowledge-graphs, machine learning, model-driven engineering, image processing, diagnosis, natural language processing, optimization, and advanced applications such as the internet of things and healthcare.

The seventh International Conference on Knowledge Management in Organizations (KMO) brings together researchers and developers from industry and the academic world to report on the latest scientific and technical advances on knowledge management in organisations. KMO 2012 provides an international forum for authors to present and discuss research focused on the role of knowledge management for innovative services in industries, to shed light on recent advances in cloud computing for KM as well as to identify future directions for researching the role of knowledge management in service innovation and how cloud computing can be used to address many of the issues currently facing KM in academia and industrial sectors. The conference took place at Salamanca in Spain on the 11th-13th July in 2012.

During the last decade, Knowledge Discovery and Management (KDM or, in French, EGC for Extraction et Gestion des connaissances) has been an intensive and fruitful research topic in the French-speaking scientific community. In 2003, this enthusiasm for KDM led to the foundation of a specific French-speaking association, called EGC, dedicated to supporting and promoting this topic. More precisely, KDM is concerned with the interface between knowledge and data such as, among other things, Data Mining, Knowledge Discovery, Business Intelligence, Knowledge Engineering and Semantic Web. The recent and novel research contributions collected in this book are extended and reworked versions of a selection of the best papers that were originally presented in French at the EGC 2010 Conference held in Tunis, Tunisia in January 2010. The volume is organized in three parts. Part I includes four chapters concerned with various aspects of Data Cube and Ontology-based representations. Part II is composed of four chapters concerned with Efficient Pattern Mining issues, while in Part III the last four chapters address Data Preprocessing and Information Retrieval.

The conference series BIR (Business Informatics Research) was established 10 years ago in Rostock as an initiative of researchers from Swedish and German universities. The objective was to create a global forum where researchers in business informatics, seniors as well as juniors, could meet, collaborate and - change ideas. Over the years BIR has matured into a series of international conferences, typically organized in the Baltic Sea region, including Norway and Iceland. A steering committee ensures the high quality of the BIR proceedings. We are very proud that this year an international and very well known editor has agreed to publish selected papers of the conference. The interest in the conference in terms of submissions and participation has steadily increased over the years. This year, we received 53 contributions among which 14 submissions were accepted as long papers and 4 as short papers. A few additional contributions were invited for presentation at the conference. The selection was carefully carried out by an International Program C- mittee. The result is a set of interesting and stimulating papers that address important issues such as knowledge management, ontologies, models, work?ow speci?cations, data bases and OLAP. The conference was opened by an invited technical talk by Dr. Klaus BrunnsteinfromTheUniversityofHamburgwhodiscussedthetopic“TheInf- mation Society on the Way to Web 3.0: Perspectives, Opportunities and Risks”, which is challenging for all of us.

New approaches are needed that could move us towards developing effective systems for problem solving and decision making, systems that can deal with complex and ill-structured situations, systems that can function in information rich environments, systems that can cope with imprecise information, systems that can rely on their knowledge and learn from experience - i.e. intelligent systems. One of the main efforts in intelligent systems development is focused on knowledge and information management which is regarded as the crucial issue in smart decision making support. The 13 Chapters of this book represent a sample of such effort. The overall aim of this book is to provide guidelines to develop tools for smart processing of knowledge and information. Still, the guide does not presume to give ultimate answers. Rather, it poses ideas and case studies to explore and the complexities and challenges of modern knowledge management issues. It also encourages its reader to become aware of the multifaceted interdisciplinary character of such issues. The premise of this book is that its reader will leave it with a heightened ability to think - in different ways - about developing, evaluating, and supporting intelligent knowledge and information management systems in real life based environment.

As computers and communications technology advance, greater opportunities arise for intelligent mathematical computation. While computer algebra, au- mated deduction and mathematical publishing each have long and successful histories, we are now seeing increasing opportunities for synergy among them. The Conferences on Intelligent Computer Mathematics (cicm 2009) is a c- lection of co-located meetings, allowing researchers and practitioners active in these related areas to share recent results and identify the next challenges. The speci?c areas of the cicm conferences and workshops are described below, but the unifying theme is the computerized handling of mathematical knowledge. The successful formalization of much of mathematics, as well as a better - derstanding of its internal structure, makes mathematical knowledge in many waysmore tractable than generalknowledge,as traditionally treatedin arti?cial intelligence. Similarly, we can also expect the problem of e?ectively using ma- ematical knowledge in automated ways to be much more tractable. This is the goal of the work in the cicm conferences and workshops. In the long view, so- ing the problems addressed by cicm is an important milestone in formulating the next generation of mathematical software.

Following two successful events in Guilin, People's Republic of China (KSEM 2006) and in Melbourne, Australia (KSEM 2007) the third event in this conference series was held for the first time in Europe, namely, in Vienna, Austria. KSEM 2009 aimed to be a communication platform and meeting ground for research on knowledge science, engineering and management, attracting high-quality, state-of-the-art publications from all over the world. It offers an exceptional opportunity for presenting original work, technological advances, practical problems and concerns of the research community. The importance of studying “knowledge” from different viewpoints such as science, engineering and management has been widely acknowledged. The accelerating pace of the'Internet age'challenges organizations to compress communication and innovation cycles to achieve a faster return on investment for knowledge. Thus, next-generation business solutions must be focused on supporting the creation of value by adding knowledge-rich components as an integral part to the work process. Therefore, an integrated approach is needed, which combines issues from a large array of knowledge fields such as science, engineering and management. Based on the reviews by the members of the Program Committee and the additional reviewers, 42 papers were selected for this year's conference. Additionally, two discussion panels dealing with “Knowware: The Third Star after Hardware and Software” and “Required Knowledge for Delivering Services” took place under the auspices of the conference. The papers and the discussions covered a great variety of approaches of knowledge science, management and engineering, thus making KSEM a unique conference.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the PAKDD Workshops 2008, namely ALSIP 2008, DMDRM 2008, and IDM 2008. The workshops were held in conjunction with the PAKDD conference in Osaka, Japan, during May 20-23, 2008. The 17 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 38 submissions. The International Workshop on Algorithms for Large-Sale Information Processing in Knowledge Discovery (ALSIP) focused on exchanging fresh ideas on large-scale data processing in the problems of data mining, clustering, machine learning, statistical analysis, and other computational aspects of knowledge discovery problems. The Workshop on Data Mining for Decision Making and Risk Management (DMDRM) covered data mining and machine learning approaches, statistical approaches, chance discovery, active mining and application of these techniques to medicine, marketing, security, decision support in business, social activities, human relationships, chemistry and sensor data. The Workshop on Interactive Data Mining Overview (IDM) discussed various interactive data mining researches such as interactive information retrieval, information gathering sysetms, personalization systems, recommendation systems, user interfaces.

The incursion of information and communication technologies (ICT) in health care entails evident bene?ts at the levels of security and e?ciency that improve not only the quality of life of the patients, but also the quality of the work of the health care professionals and the costs of national health care systems. Leaving research approaches aside, the analysis of ICT in health care shows an evo- tion from the initial interest in representing and storing health care data (i. e., electronic health care records) to the current interest of having remote access to electronic health care systems, as for example HL7 initiatives or telemedicine. This sometimes imperceptible evolution can be interpreted as a new step of the progress path of health care informatics, whose next emerging milestone is the convergenceof current solutions with formal methods for health care kno- edge management. In this sense, K4CARE is a European project aiming at contributing to this progress path. It is centered on the idea that health care knowledge rep- sented in a formal waymay favor the treatment of home care patients in modern societies. The project highlights several aspects that are considered relevant to the evolution of medical informatics: health care knowledge production, health care knowledge integration, update, and adaptation, and health care intelligent systems.

The biennial PAKM Conference Series o?ers a communication platform and meeting ground for practitioners and researchers involved in developing and deploying advanced business solutions for the management of knowledge in - ganizations. PAKM is a forum for people to share their views, exchange ideas, develop new insights, and envision completely new kinds of knowledge mana- ment solutions. PAKM2008,the7thInternationalConferenceonPracticalAspectsofKno- edge Management, was held in Yokohama, Japan, for the?rst time. Although all past PAKM conferences were held in Europe (Basel and Vienna), the PAKM Steering Committee decided two yearsago that the PAKM conferenceshould be “on tour”: it should be organized by di?erent people and be hosted in di?erent places all over the world. For this year's conference we received 62 submissions from 23 countries and 3 reviewers were assigned to one paper from the members of the Program C- mittee and the additional reviewers. Thus 23 good papers were selected. They cover a great variety of approaches to knowledge management, which tackle the topic from many di?erent angles. It is this very diversity that makes PAKM unique, while at the same time focusing on the one issue of managing knowledge within organizations. Many people were involved in setting up PAKM 2008. We would like to express our warm thanks to everybody who contributed to making it a success.

Organizational semiotics offers a framework for understanding the processes that this project work entails, in particular the interaction between individuals and groups and between human and technology. The 8th session of the annual Organizational Semiotics Workshop held in June 2005 in Toulouse – the French capital of aeronautics and space – tested ideas from Organizational Semiotics against two issues from space projects on two illustrative cases provided by the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES) – the government agency responsible for shaping and implementing France's space policy in Europe – through its Technical Competency Centre in Management (CCT MAN): - The management of complex, highly innovative and multidisciplinary projects during their early volatile phases. - The management of risks faced by such projects that may run far into the future and beyond human intervention. The twelve chapters of the book are the revised contributions of the workshop to these issues along with general themes of Organizational Semiotics.

This volume contains the collected contributions of two conferences, Calcu- mus2007andMKM2007.Calculemus2007wasthe14thinaseriesofconferences dedicated to the integration of computer algebra systems (CAS) and automated deduction systems (ADS). MKM 2007 was the sixth International Conference on Mathematical Knowledge Management, an emerging interdisciplinary?eld of research in the intersection of mathematics, computer science, library s- ence, and scienti?c publishing. Both conferences aimed to provide mechanized mathematical assistants. Although the two conferences have separate communities and separate foci, there is a signi?cant overlap in the interests in building mechanized mathem- ical assistants. For this reason it was decided to collocate the two events in 2007 for the?rst time, at RISC in Hagenberg, Austria. The number and quality of the submissions show that this was a good decision. While the proceedings are shared, the submission process was separate. The responsibility for acc- tance/rejection rests completely with the two separate Program Committees. By this collocation we made a contribution against the fragmentation of communities which work on di?erent aspects of di?erent independent branches, traditional branches (e.g., computer algebra and theorem proving), as well as newly emerging ones (on user interfaces, knowledge management, theory exp- ration, etc.). This will also facilitate the development of integrated mechanized mathematical assistants that will be routinely used by mathematicians, c- puter scientists, and engineers in their every-day business.

Knowledge means power – but only if it is available at the right time, the right place, and in the hands of the right people. Declarative programming strives for the ideal of programming by wish: the user states what he or she wants, and the computer?gures out how to achieve it. Thus, declarative programming splits into two separate parts: methods for humans on how to write wishes, and algorithms for computers that ful?l these wishes. Knowledgemanagementisnowrecognizedasaneconomickeyfactor.Decl- ative programming has matured far beyond the research stage of a merely - teresting formal logic model to one of the powerful tools in computer science. Nowadays,no professionalactivity isthinkable without knowledgemanagement, and companies increasingly need to document their business processes. Here, declarative programming carries the promise to be a shortcut to not only do- menting but also implementing knowledge-based enterprises. This volume presents a selection of papers presented at the 16th Inter- tional Conference on Applications of Declarative Programming and Knowledge Management, INAP 2005,held in October 2005 at Waseda University, Fukuoka, Japan. These papers re?ect a snapshot of ongoing research and current app- cations in knowledge management and declarative programming. Further, they provide reality checks and many pointers for readers who consider introducing related technologies into their products or working environments. The papers in this volume were presented at the workshop “Topic Map Research and Applications 2005” held on October 6-7, 2005, in Leipzig. TMRA 2005 was the first workshop of an annual series of international workshops dedicated to topic maps in research and industry. As the motto “Charting the Topic Maps Research and Applications Landscape” suggests, the aim of TMRA 2005 was to identify the primary open issues in research, learn about who is working on what, bring together researchers and application pioneers, stimulate the systematic tackling of such issues, and foster the exchange of ideas in a stimulating setting. Besides the scientific track, open-space sessions were foreseen as playgrounds for visionaries. A report from this look into future is added to this volume. TMRA 2005 was organised by the Zentrum für Informations-, Wissens- und Dienstleistungsmanagement Leipzig to support exchange of experiences, results, and technology in the field of topic maps. The 24 papers (1 invited, 17 full papers, 5 work-in-progress reports, and 1 report on the open-space sessions) presented at TMRA 2005 and in the present volume were selected from more than 35 submissions. Every submission was carefully reviewed by three members of the Program Committee. Before publishing, the editors introduced an additional editorial loop after the workshop to ensure the highest quality and latest insights.

Professional knowledge management is imperative for the success of enterprises. One decisive factor for the success of knowledge management projects is the coordination of elements such as corporate culture, enterprise organization, - man resource management, as well as information and communication techn- ogy. The proper alignment and balancing of these factors are currently little understood—especially the role of information technology, which is often - garded only as an implementation tool, though it can be a catalyst by making new knowledge management solutions possible. This conference brought together representativesfrom practical and research?elds for discussing experiences, professional applications, and visions through presentations, workshops, tutorials, and an accompanying industry exhibition. The main focus of the conference was the realization of knowledge mana- ment strategies with the aid of innovative information technology solutions, such as intelligent access to organizational memories, or integration of business processes and knowledge management. Also of interest were holistic/integrative approaches to knowledge management that deal with issues raised by the in- gration of people, organizations, and information technology.

This volume contains the papers presented at the 2nd European Semantic Web Conference (ESWC 2005) held in Heraklion, Crete, Greece, from 29th May to 1st June, 2005. The vision of the Semantic Web is to enhance today's Web via the exploi- tion of machine-processable metadata. The explicit representation of the sem- tics of data, accompanied with domain theories (ontologies), will enable a web that provides a qualitatively new level of service. The 2nd Annual European Semantic Web Conference presented the latest results in research and applications of Semantic Web technologies. The 3rd International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC 2004) was held Nov- ber 7–11, 2004 in Hiroshima, Japan. If it is true what the proverb says: “Once by accident, twice by habit, three times by tradition,” then this third ISWC did indeed?rmly establish a tradition. After the overwhelming interest in last year's conference at Sanibel Island, Florida, this year's conference showed that the Semantic Web is not just a one-day wonder, but has established itself?rmly on the research agenda. At a time when special interest meetings with a Sem- tic Web theme are springing up at major conferences in numerous areas (ACL, VLDB, ECAI, AAAI, ECML, WWW, to name but a few), the ISWC series has established itself as the primary venue for Semantic Web research. Response to the call for papers for the conference continued to be strong. We solicited submissions to three tracks of the conference: the research track, the industrial track, and the poster track. The research track, the premier venue for basic research on the Semantic Web, received 205 submissions, of which 48 were accepted for publication. Each submission was evaluated by three p- gram committee members whose reviews were coordinated by members of the senior program committee. Final decisions were made by the program co-chairs in consultation with the conference chair and the senior program committee. The industrial track, soliciting papers describing industrial research on the - mantic Web, received 22 submissions, of which 7 were accepted for publication.

Because governments and public administrations deal with information and knowledge on a large scale, this domain is particularly predestined to actively practice KM: much of the work of public authorities refers to the elaboration of data, infor- tionandknowledgeoncitizens,businesses,society,themarkets,theenvironment, laws, politics, etc. Evenmany“products”ofpublicadministrationandgovernmentaredelivered intheshapeofinformationandknowledgethemselves.Thisaspectespecially- plies to the policies, management, regulation and monitoring of society, markets and the environment. With the recent evolution of e-government projects, high expectations are linked. As a consequence, e?cient support from adequate KM conceptsandtoolstoexploitthehugeknowledgeandinformationresourcesdealt with in e-government is expected. Not only the trend towards a knowledge society calls for KM solutions. C- rent e-government developments signi?cantly in?uence the public sector. These require the rethinking of knowledge distribution and management: Citizen- and business- oriented service delivery, including one-stop service provision, inter- ganizationalco-operationbetweengovernmentagenciesandcross-bordersupport for complex administrative decision making call for largely opened-up access to remote information and knowledge resources. E-government – and speci?cally the concept of online one-stop government – integrates dislocated information and knowledge sources into a global virtual knowledge fabric.

This book presents a coherent and well-balanced collection of revised papers focusing on agent-mediated knowledge management. Most of the papers are extended and improved versions of work presented at the Symposium on Agent-Mediated Knowledge Management, AMKM 2003, held during the AAAI Spring Symposium in Stanford, CA, USA in March 2003; also included are 3 special articles, including a detailed introduction to the topic by the volume editors. The 28 papers are organized in topical sections on collaboration and peer-to-peer support - agent-based community support - agent models for knowledge and organizations - context and personalization - ontologies and semantic Web - agents and knowledge engineering.
