This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Quality of Information and Communications Technology, QUATIC 2023, held in Aveiro, Portugal, during September 11–13, 2023.The 17 full papers and 4 short papers included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 37 submissions. They were organized in topical sections as follows: Disseminating Advanced Methods, Techniques, and Tools for Supporting Quality ICT Engineering and Management Approaches.

This book constitutes the refereed post-conference proceedings of the 18th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing, Networking and Services, MobiQuitous 2021, which was held in November 2021. The conference was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.The 37 full papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 79 submissions and present discussions, interaction and exchange of experiences that will designate future research efforts and directions. Topics addressed by the conference include systems, applications, social networks, middleware, networking, sensing, data management, data processing and services, all with special focus on mobile and ubiquitous computing.

This book highlights recent research on Soft Computing, Pattern Recognition, Information Assurance and Security. It presents 38 selected papers from the 10th International Conference on Soft Computing and Pattern Recognition (SoCPaR 2018) and the 14th International Conference on Information Assurance and Security (IAS 2018) held at Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP), Portugal during December 13–15, 2018. SoCPaR – IAS 2018 is a premier conference and brings together researchers, engineers and practitioners whose work involves soft computing and information assurance and their applications in industry and the real world. This book constitutes the proceedings of the 23rd International Symposium on Foundations of Intelligent Systems, ISMIS 2017, held in Warsaw, Poland, in June 2017. The 56 regular and 15 short papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 118 submissions. The papers include both theoretical and practical aspects of machine learning, data mining methods, deep learning, bioinformatics and health informatics, intelligent information systems, knowledge-based systems, mining temporal, spatial and spatio-temporal data, text and Web mining. In addition, four special sessions were organized; namely, Special Session on Big Data Analytics and Stream Data Mining, Special Session on Granular and Soft Clustering for Data Science, Special Session on Knowledge Discovery with Formal Concept Analysis and Related Formalisms, and Special Session devoted to ISMIS 2017 Data Mining Competition on Trading Based on Recommendations, which was launched as a part of the conference.

The two-volume set LNCS 6753/6754 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Image and Recognition, ICIAR 2011, held in Burnaby, Canada, in June 2011. The 84 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 147 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on image and video processing; feature extraction and pattern recognition; computer vision; color, texture, motion and shape; tracking; biomedical image analysis; biometrics; face recognition; image coding, compression and encryption; and applications.

ICIAR 2006, the International Conference on Image Analysis and Recognition, was the third ICIAR conference, and was held in P´ ovoa de Varzim, Portugal. ICIARisorganizedannually,andalternatesbetweenEuropeandNorthAmerica. ICIAR 2004 was held in Porto, Portugal and ICIAR 2005 in Toronto, Canada. The idea of o?ering these conferences came as a result of discussion between researchers in Portugal and Canada to encourage collaboration and exchange, mainlybetweenthesetwocountries,butalsowiththeopenparticipationofother countries, addressing recent advances in theory, methodology and applications. The response to the call for papers for ICIAR 2006 was higher than the two previous editions. From 389 full papers submitted, 163 were?nally accepted (71 oral presentations, and 92 posters). The review process was carried out by the Program Committee members and other reviewers; all are experts in various image analysis and recognition areas. Each paper was reviewed by at least two reviewers, and also checked by the conference Co-chairs. The high quality of the papers in these proceedings is attributed?rst to the authors, and second to the quality of the reviews provided by the experts. We would like to thank the authors for responding to our call, and we wholeheartedly thank the reviewers for their excellent work and for their timely response. It is this collective e?ort that resulted in the strong conference program and high-quality proceedings in your hands.
