This book constitutes extended, revised, and selected papers from the 13th International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence supported by the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence, JSAI-isAI 2021, held online in November 2021. The 26 full papers were carefully selected from 86 submissions. This book contains the revised and extended versions of selected papers from the 15th International Conference on Agents and Artificial Intelligence, ICAART 2023, held in Lisbon, Portugal, during February 22–24, 2023. The 23 full papers included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 306 submissions. The conference was organized in 2 tracks as follows: One track focuses on Agents, Multi-Agent Systems and Software Platforms, Distributed Problem Solving and Distributed AI in general. This volume contains a selection of revised papers that were presented at the Software Aspects of Robotic Systems, SARS 2011 Workshop and the Machine Learning for System Construction, MLSC 2011 Workshop, held during October 17-18 in Vienna, Austria, under the auspices of the International Symposium Series on Leveraging Applications of Formal Methods, Verification, and Validation, ISoLA. The topics covered by the papers of the SARS and the MLSC workshop demonstrate the breadth and the richness of the respective fields of the two workshops stretching from robot programming to languages and compilation techniques, to real-time and fault tolerance, to dependability, software architectures, computer vision, cognitive robotics, multi-robot-coordination, and simulation to bio-inspired algorithms, and from machine learning for anomaly detection, to model construction in software product lines to classification of web service interfaces. This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the 15th International Workshop on Theoretic Foundations of Computer Vision, held as a Dagstuhl Seminar in Dagstuhl Castle, Germany, in June/July 2011. The 19 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected after a blind peer-review process. The topic of this Workshop was Outdoor and Large-Scale Real-World Scene Analysis, which covers all aspects, applications and open problems regarding the performance or design of computer vision algorithms capable of working in outdoor setups and/or large-scale environments. Developing these methods is important for driver assistance, city modeling and reconstruction, virtual tourism, telepresence, and motion capture.

These two-volume books comprise the post-conference proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Neural Information Processing (ICONIP 2007) held in Kitakyushu, Japan, during November 13–16, 2007. The Asia Paci?c Neural Network Assembly (APNNA) was founded in 1993. The?rst ICONIP was held in 1994 in Seoul, Korea, sponsored by APNNA in collaboration with regional organizations. Since then, ICONIP has consistently provided prestigious opp- tunities for presenting and exchanging ideas on neural networks and related?elds. Research?elds covered by ICONIP have now expanded to include such?elds as bioinformatics, brain machine interfaces, robotics, and computational intelligence. We had 288 ordinary paper submissions and 3 special organized session p- posals. Although the quality of submitted papers on the average was excepti- ally high, only 60% of them were accepted after rigorous reviews, each paper being reviewed by three reviewers. Concerning special organized session prop- als, two out of three were accepted. In addition to ordinary submitted papers, we invited 15 special organized sessions organized by leading researchers in emerging?elds to promote future expansion of neural information processing. ICONIP 2007 was held at the newly established Kitakyushu Science and Research Park in Kitakyushu, Japan. Its theme was “Towards an Integrated Approach to the Brain—Brain-Inspired Engineering and Brain Science,” which emphasizes the need for cross-disciplinary approaches for understanding brain functions and utilizing the knowledge for contributions to the society. It was jointly sponsored by APNNA, Japanese Neural Network Society (JNNS), and the 21st century COE program at Kyushu Institute of Technology.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Artificial Evolution, EA 2007, held in Tours, France in October 2007. The 27 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 62 submissions during two rounds of reviewing and improvement. The papers cover all aspects of artificial evolution: genetic programming, swarm intelligence, combinatorial and multi-objective optimization, theory in genetic algorithms and evolutionary systems, as well as applications of evolutionary algorithms.

The Turkish Artificial Intelligence and Neural Network Symposium (TAINN) is an annual meeting where scientists present their new ideas and algorithms on artificial intelligence and neural networks with either oral or poster presentation. The TAINN- Turkish Conference on AI and NN Series started in 1992 at Bilkent University in Ankara, envisioned by various researchers in AI and NN then at the Bilkent, Middle East Technical, Bo aziçi and Ege universities as a forum for local researchers to get together and communicate. Since then, TAINN has been held annually around early summer. This year the 14th TAINN conference was organized by the EE and CE departments of the zmir Institute of Technology with an emphasis on international contributions. Among the 75 papers, 41 were accepted for oral presentation and 12 for poster presen-tation. In addition to the presentations, invited lectures were given by Burhan Türk en (Knowledge/Intelligence Systems Laboratory, University of Toronto) and Joerg Siekmann (German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence DFKI, Saarland University), providing us with new developments in the field. We are very grateful to the contributions of such pioneer scientists.

The Arti?cial Evolution conference was originally conceived as a forum for the French-speaking Evolutionary Computation community, but has of late been acquiring an European audience, with several papers from Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain... However, AE remains as intended a small and friendly gathering, which will continue to be held every two years. Previous AE meets were held in Toulouse, Brest, and Nˆ?mes. This year, the hosting was done by the LIL (Laboratoire d'Informatique du Littoral) in the not-so-cold city of Dunkerque. The invited talk on “Fitness Landscapes and Evolutionary Algorithms” was delivered by Colin Reeves of Coventry University This volume contains a selection of the papers presented at the conference. Twenty-seven papers were presented orally at the conference, selected from over 40 papers refereed by the program committee. After the conference, each p- sentation was reviewed and 20 papers were retained and revised for publication in this volume. The papers in this volume have been grouped into the following?ve sections which more or less re?ect the organization of the oral presentations. 1. Invited Paper: C. Reeves brightly describes the state of the art in Fitness Landscapes.

This book constitutes revised selected papers from the workshops of the 6th Asia-Pacific Web and Web-Age Information Management International Joint Conference on Web and Big Data, APWeb-WAIM 2022: The Fifth International Workshop on Knowledge Graph Management and Applications, KGMA 2022, The Fourth International Workshop on Semi-structured Big Data Management and Applications, SemiBDMA 2022, and The Third International Workshop on Deep Learning in Large-scale Unstructured Data Analytics, DeepLUDA 2022, held in Nanjing, China, in August 2022. The 23 papers were thoroughly reviewed and selected from the 39 submissions and present recent research on the theory, design, and implementation of data management systems.

The concept of CAST as Computer Aided Systems Theory was introduced by F. Pichler in the late 1980s to encompass computer-theoretical and practical developments as tools for problem-solving in system science. It was thought of as the third of three components (the other two being CAD and CAM) that together provide a complete picture of the path from computer and systems sciences to practical developments in science and engineering. Franz Pichler, of the University of Linz, organized the first CAST workshop in April 1988, which demonstrated the acceptance of the concepts by the scientific and technical community. Next, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria joined the University of Linz to organize the first international meeting on CAST (Las Palmas, February 1989), under the name EUROCAST 1989. This proved to be a very successful gathering of systems theorists, computer scientists and engineers from Europe, North America and Japan. It was agreed that EUROCAST international conferences would be organized every two years. Thus, successive EUROCAST meetings have taken place in Krems (1991), Las Palmas (1993), Innsbruck (1995), Las Palmas (1997), Vienna (1999), Las Palmas (2001), Las Palmas (2003) and Las Palmas (2005), in addition to an extra- European CAST Conference in Ottawa in 1994. Selected papers from those meetings were published in springer's Lecture Notes in Computer Science series, as numbers 410, 585, 763, 1030, 1333, 1798, 2178, 2809 and 3643, and in several special issues of the international journal Cybernetics and Systems.

We present in this volume a collection of revised selected papers from the ISCA Tutorial and Research Workshop on Nonlinear Speech Processing (NO- LISP 2007)held in Paris,France, 22–25May,2007.NOLISP 2007was organized by the University Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC) with the generous support of ISCA (International Speech Communication Association), EURASIP and the IEEE. NOLISP 2007 was the?rst follow-on workshop to a series of three e- lier events related to nonlinear speech processing, that were organized within the framework of the European COST action 277 Nonlinear speech processing (2001–2005). The?nancial support of ISCA enabled the attendance of leading researchers from various parts of the world. Theexciting?eldofspeechprocessinghaswitnessedtremendousdevelopment over the past 20 years or so, thanks to both technological progress and to the growing focus of research on a number of key application areas. However, some speci?cities of the speech signal are still not well addressed by the currently availablemodels. Hence, new nonconventionalmodels and processing techniques needtobeinvestigatedinordertofosterand/oraccompanyfutureprogress,even if they do not match immediately the level of performance and understanding of the current state-of-the-art approaches. ThepurposeofNOLISPistopresentanddiscussnovelideas,workandresults related to such alternative techniques for speech processing, which depart from mainstream approaches. It declared its intent to be an interdisciplinary forum, intertwining research in di?erent?elds of speech processing with its growing applications in everyday practice.
