This open access book investigates an entrepreneurial approach to building new theories. It provides a rich understanding of how specific tools facilitate aspects of the theorizing process and offers a clearer big picture of the process of building important new entrepreneurship theories. The authors show that anthropomorphizing has been a critically important tool for developing influential entrepreneurship theories. They reveal how scholars build on their rich and highly accessible understanding of humans (i.e., the self and others) to make guesses and sense of entrepreneurial anomalies, articulate theoretical mechanisms to build more robust entrepreneurship theories, and create plausible stories that facilitate sensegiving. Further, they offer a framework that guides entrepreneurship scholars in finding a balance to maximize their contributions and guides reviewers and editors in managing the revise-and-resubmit process to advance the entrepreneurship field. Finally, they present lean scholarship as an approach to developing a portfolio of high-quality, high-impact papers. Lean scholarship starts with an entrepreneurial mindset and involves creating a minimum viable paper, exploring its validity, adding a plausible paper to one's portfolio, and managing the portfolio by periodically deciding whether to persevere, pivot, or terminate each paper. This seminal work will appeal to entrepreneurship researchers, both those new to the field as well as seasoned veterans, who want to learn more about the tools that can be used to generate new knowledge about new ventures and other entrepreneurship topics.

Master's Thesis from the year 2021 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,0, University of Frankfurt (Main), language: English, abstract: This paper is about archetypes of a Digital Leader and takes a closer look at the development of a competency requirements profile based on a qualitative literature analysis. This thesis aims to develop a valid model of different archetypes of the DL and to provide those various archetypes with individual competencies. The archetypes match the respective challenges for corporations in their digitalization and transformation process. In order to develop such archetypes and the associated competency requirements, the following research questions will be answered throughout the thesis to define the boundaries of the case. 1. How can various leadership approaches as well as existing archetype and competency approaches be combined to create a new competency requirement profile of a Digital Leader? 2. What different archetypes of a Digital Leader emerge in terms of their competencies in the course of the Digitalization and Digital Transformation? In an environment characterized by transformation, in which long-term planning and reliable predictions are becoming increasingly impossible, competent leaders are becoming indispensable and even vital for organizations. Organizations must identify leaders who possess a comprehensive set of competencies for the emerging requirements. To address this issue, the outline of the thesis is as follows: section 2 introduces a comprehensive overview of the related literature and the definitional boundaries as well as existing approaches are provided. In section 3 the utilized research methodology is covered. This is followed, in section 4, by the presentation of the elaborated model and the results from the interviews will be connected to the research questions. In section 5, the work and the model are discussed and assessed in terms of potential limitations. Finally, a conclusion and outlook for further research requirements regarding the topic is provided in section 6.

How can management research promote a more applicable and a more transparent knowledge for the benefit of individuals and organizations? Looming large over this question is the challenge of repurposing management research for improving public good. Co-edited by R. H. Tiell and S. C. Malka, the title of the book says it all - Amplifying management research for the common good: Lessons for curious individuals and organizations - Insights from practitioners in the field. In this book, we sought to bridge the chasm that separates the non-academic audience from the typically less-accessible scientific journals. We attempted to make empirical evidence more inclusive, impactful and public good relevant for the non-academic stakeholders that live and work in the broader community. For that purpose, we made available to the reader and to our chapter contributors a collection of published papers, some authored by the editors of this book, and others co-authored with other researchers. The papers cover a diverse set of business topics all of which we believe hold much relevance for management today. Providing the reader with their insights on subject matter along with lessons and practical recommendations, we sought experts in the field that can build on empirical research in various areas of management and then synthesize and broaden it through their expertise and work experience. As a trigger, we aligned each contributor with one or two empirical papers based on their background, interests, and professional experience. Using the assigned papers as a springboard, we asked each author to identify emerging themes around which they can build their chapter. We wanted them to think of the book audience: non-academicians comprised of interested and curious individuals, managers, and their organizations. And, we wanted our authors to elaborate on practical lessons, suggestions, and recommendations that can make a difference in the lives of the book audience. Bachelor Thesis from the year 2022 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,3, University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt (Faculty of Business), language: English, abstract: The purpose of this paper was to examine the long-term viability of three different accommodation sharing platforms (Airbnb, Fairbnb, and Couchsurfing) by evaluating the literature and other source materials available. These platforms'potential and challenges have been highlighted, as well as how each of these platforms contributes to various elements of sustainability. The results indicate that these platforms play different roles in various elements of sustainability. These platforms reduce overproduction and consumption by utilizing spare bedrooms and reducing the need for new hotel constructions. They also make travel more affordable, provide income opportunities (Airbnb & Fairbnb), and promote social interactions. However, they do have certain drawbacks as well. Low-cost travel may encourage people to travel more, resulting in higher CO2 emissions, which may have more negative than positive consequences. However, as shown by the effects of several regulations adopted by different cities, such adverse impacts can be minimized with strict government regulations. Nonetheless, while effective and suitable regulation might help to mitigate the negative effects of these platforms, it is difficult to estimate their exact sustainability repercussions. As a result, this paper calls for a more open examination of accommodation sharing services.

This book looks at Chester I. Barnard's theoretical and practical contributions to organization theory by examining his life, career, experience, intellectual relationships, philosophy, method, and theory.Barnard (1886–1961) is considered an innovator in the field with the publication of his seminal work, The Functions of the Executive, in 1938. But why was Barnard able to publish such a groundbreaking book despite the fact that he was a practitioner, not an academic researcher? In pursuit of that question, this book carefully investigates the background of his ideas about management, such as his experience, philosophy, and method. It then traces the process of how Barnard built his concepts of organization as it examines his books, published papers, unpublished manuscripts, and correspondence and systematically summarizes how he built his theory of organization and management. Finally, the author explores how Barnard's theory has the potential to be developed and put into practice by examining his important works after his publication of The Functions of the Executive, which is well known as abstract and difficult. Surprisingly, Management Accounting literature has not investigated the role of data scientists and their interactions with management accountants so far. Via a qualitative case study, we strive to establish a more nuanced and clearer understanding of the concrete tasks carried out by these organizational players and shed light on the interactions with management accountants. In this paper, chapter 2 presents MA frameworks that combine both the IIS and the MA domains. We further give an overview of tasks that have been historically attributed to management accountants. Subsequently, these tasks are contrasted to those ascribed to the new professional actor, i.e. the data scientist. In this context, we present the research questions of this paper, that aim at closing significant research gaps in this area. Afterwards, method theories are introduced that enable the creation of a theoretical framework. Within chapter 3, the research method and case background are presented, so that the research questions can be analyzed in chapter 4 and, afterwards, discussed in chapter 5. Moreover, in this section a general outlook for the MA domain is given. Finally, the limitations of this study are stated and suggestions for further research are presented in chapter 6.

Little research, however, has explored the implications of this development for organizational behavior as well as secular thinkers and practitioners of sustainable development. Master's Thesis from the year 2023 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 2,7, Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, language: English, abstract: Recent events such as the 15th Conference of Parties (COP15) and the European Green Deal have brought biodiversity issues to the forefront of international and European agendas, with increasing pressure on companies to improve their disclosure and performance related to biodiversity. With growing focus on the relationship between board gender diversity (BGD) and environmental performance, this study investigates the effect of BGD on biodiversity disclosure (BD). This research explores the relationship between BGD and BD by analysing a sample of 2,793 firm-year observations from European non-financial companies listed on the European STOXX600 index from 2009 to 2020. A three-way fixed-effects ordered logistic regression model was employed, incorporating legitimacy and critical mass theory. The results demonstrate a positive association between BGD and BD, with a stronger relationship for companies in exploitative industries. However, there was no support found for the critical mass theory, and no mediating effect of environmental trainings or partnerships was detected. These findings highlight the importance of gender diversity in promoting sensitivity to societal and institutional concerns, as well as the need for increased transparency and accountability in companies'reporting and actions related to biodiversity. The study's implications call for companies to take proactive measures in promoting diversity and sustainability to meet growing regulatory and stakeholder demands.
