Productivity varies widely between industries and countries, but even more so across individual firms within the same sectors. The challenge for governments is to strike the right balance between policies designed to increase overall productivity and policies designed to promote the reallocation of resources towards firms that could use them more effectively. The aim of this book is to provide the empirical evidence necessary in order to strike this policy balance. The authors do so by using a micro-aggregated dataset for 20 EU economies produced by CompNet, the Competitiveness Research Network, established some 10 years ago among major European institutions and a number of EU productivity boards, National Central Banks, National Statistical institutes, as well as academic Institutions. They call for pan-EU initiatives involving statistical offices and scholars to achieve a truly complete EU market for firm-level information on which to build solidly founded economic policies.

Productivity underpins business success and national well-being and thus it is crucial to understand the factors that influence productivity growth. This volume provides a comprehensive exploration into the significance of productivity growth for business, the economy, and for social economic progress. It examines how productivity is defined, measured and implemented. It also surveys the dispersion of productivity across time and place, focusing on the productivity dynamics that either leads to a reallocation of resources that reduces dispersion and increases aggregate productivity or, conversely, allows dispersion to persist behind barriers to productivity-enhancing reallocation. A third focus is an investigation of the drivers of, or impediments to, productivity growth, some of which are organizational in nature and under management control and others of which are institutional in nature and subject to public policy intervention. The Oxford Handbook of Productivity Analysis contains contributions of distinguished productivity experts from around the world who analyze a wide range of timely issues. These issues concern purely analytical topics surrounding the measurement of productivity in various situations, beginning with the ideal situation in which all inputs and all outputs, and their prices, are observed accurately. They also include service sectors such as education in which the services provided are hard to define, much less measure, and other sectors that generate undesirable environmental externalities that are difficult to price and complicate the very definition of productivity. The issues also involve business management topics ranging from the role of business models and benchmarking to the quality of management practices, the adoption of new technologies, and possible complementarities between the two. The relationship between productivity and business performance is also explored. At a more aggregate level the issues range from the impacts of market power, incentive regulation, international trade and global value chains on productivity, to the contribution of productivity to economic development and economic welfare.

The main outcome of this publication is a model describing the influence of the product quality (including customer satisfaction) on the company performance (including the relationship of product quality of a company and its competitors). Particular model variables (factors) were analyzed to determine statistical significance of their mutual relationship. Simultaneously, the research concerns the interaction of quality management system, company performance, cost management, and quality certificates. In line with this theoretical approach, the model has been extended into the field of quality management system. Moreover, the model became dynamic. From a statistical point of view, mutual interaction of sub- variables (factors) in the model but not the model as a whole was confirmed.

The aim of the publication is to identify the level of quality in industrial enterprises, including the level and method of management quality and determining the factors of quality and quality management factors that impact on business performance. One of the outputs of the publication is a framework concept which in general is characterized by factors that with a direct impact on the quality (product) establishment and management but also on its performance. The publication is based on the research that was carried out in industrial enterprises (in selected areas) in the Czech Republic. Performed research was a part of a specific research at the Department of Corporate economy, Masaryk University.

Im praktischen Teil der Untersuchung werden zuerst die Daten gesammelt, dann analysiert und schließlich bewertet. Die am Anfang der Arbeit erarbeiteten Fragestellungen können mit den in der Umfrage gewonnenen Informationen beantwortet werden; Chancen und Risiken dieser Entwicklung werden aufgezeigt. Neben der Präsentation der Forschungsergebnisse wird die o.a. Entwicklung beurteilt. Eine konkrete Schlussfolgerung für den Output Management-Markt wird präsentiert.
