Nowadays, the burden of job creation is not solely placed on the shoulders of the government alone but, has become a joint-venture effort between the public and private sectors. On this premise, the paper seeks an enduring answer to this prevalent phenomenon in entrepreneurship development. So, the paper is divided into subheadings, covering the introduction, conceptual explications, theoretical discourse on MSMEs as the driving force of socioeconomic development, and the role of entrepreneurship in the socioeconomic development of Nigeria. The paper concludes by noting that, the transformation of Nigeria's education system into entrepreneurial-based is a way of empowering the young generations with practical skills that could help them become self-reliant (self-employed), thus reducing the increasing social vices and consequences of unemployment. Bachelor Thesis from the year 2020 in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Management Styles, grade: 10.00,, language: English, abstract: The purpose of this thesis is to determine the impact of leadership styles on the business. Specifically, the paper is aimed at defining the relationship between the leadership style and a certain unit performance. To this objective, the first chapter introduces the reader to the leadership concept, shows its importance in the daily life and its correlations with the HR field. The theoretical insights into the leadership phenomena and its effects on the business are provided by the paper's state of the art. Subsequently, the chapter of methodology presents the objective of the research and briefly the chosen company that the study is conducted on. It also defines the variables and describes the process of data collection and the participants. The chosen company is NN Group Romania, specifically, the NN subsidiary in Brasov, from which one of its units was empirically analysed. The analysed leadership styles are transformational and transactional types as I consider them to be the fundamentals of the styles. They serve as independent variables in the study. The SPSS software tests these variables for a potential correlation with the dependent variable, which is unit performance. The data was provided by twelve participants, consisting of one leader and eleven followers, who answered an online survey constructed in Sosci Survey. Further, the chapter of practical approach starts with the explicit description of the company. Moreover, in order to generate numerical values for describing the relation between the variables, a linear regression model was implemented and interpreted. This chapter ends with recommendations to the company after proving that there are two positive correlations between the leadership styles and the unit performance in the chosen unit of NN Romania. Both transformational and transactional leadership influence the unit performance, and thus they have a positive impact on the business. Eventually, the conclusion of this paper summarizes the most significant concepts and findings as well as offers a personal perspective on the study.

Volume 25 of Advances in Industrial and Labor Relations (AILR) contains eight new peer-reviewed papers highlighting key aspects of employment relations from a global perspective. Topics discussed include dispute resolution through ombud and arbitration arrangements, union organizing in an informal economy, domestic and foreign firm labor market competition, occupational safety in coal mining, work and social protections in a platform economy, workforce training for older workers, and right-to-work law effects on the stock market. Consistent with previous AILR volumes, the papers in Volume 25 reflect a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methods. These range from primary research methods such as case studies, survey, interviews and historiography to longitudinal and cross-sectional research designs and theory building. Some of the research included in this volume was first presented at the 70th annual meeting of the Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA) held in Baltimore, Maryland (USA) during June 2018.

This paper combines both micro and macro approaches to identify the drivers of (un)employment and inactivity in Luxembourg. The young, low-skilled, and non-EU migrants are found to be the most vulnerable groups in the labor market. In addition to skills mismatches, work disincentives embedded in the tax-benefit system constitute a factor explaining structural unemployment. High unemployment of young and low-skilled workers reflects substantial unemployment traps, while disincentives for second earners (respectively the generosity of the pension system) contribute to lower labor market participation of women (respectively seniors). Further reduction of structural unemployment requires better integration of vulnerable groups into the labor market and improved targeting of benefits to make work more rewarding.

Female-to-male employment in Senegal increased by 14 percentage points between 2006 and 2011. During the same period years of education of the working age population increased 27 percent for females and 13 percent for males, reducing gender gaps in education. In this paper, we quantitatively investigate the impact of this increase in education on female employment in Senegal. To that end, we build an overlapping generations model that captures barriers that women face over their life-cycle. Our main findings are: (i) the improvement in years of education can explain up to 44 percent of the observed increased in female-to-male employment ratio and (ii) the rest can be explained by a decline in the discrimination against women in the labor market.

Seminar paper from the year 2018 in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Miscellaneous, grade: 1,3, Fresenius University of Applied Sciences Hamburg, language: English, abstract: Globalization, flexibilization, decentralization and networking are all buzzwords that change our workplaces into work 4.0. Deloitte's recent Global Human Capital Trends Surveys from 2016 and 2018 describe the trends of self-organized networks and hyper-connected workplaces, as well as digital HR and recommends that organizations have to redesign their work environment with HR as creator to facilitate collaboration across company boundaries. Global virtual teams (hereafter: GVTs) are one way, to respond to those trends and stay competitive. Several surveys indicate, how ubiquitous global virtual teamwork is. A survey from 2016 included 1,372 respondents from 80 countries. 85% of those indicated that they already worked in GVTs. To be successful, these teams depend on diverse factors, as can be seen in figure 1 (not included in this text). One of the main difference between GVTs and co-located teams is the interaction through information and communication technologies (hereafter: ICTs). The most important success factor, yet bigg est challenge for those teams is to develop mutual trust. This paper will connect both success factors to find out, how trust can be built through the appropriate usage of cutting-edge ICTs. How to build trust is one of the most researched topics in the GVT literature. In addition, scholars already included trust-formation through communication in their research. However, they have not broadened their research to emerging ICTs, like Web 2.0 or virtual rooms yet. Scholars annotate critically that even though those technologies are already used in practice,'research appears not to be keeping up with practice.'Regarding 3D virtual environments like virtual rooms, only five articles were found by Gilson et al. and the content was rather generic. Additionally, social networks, which are broadly used in practice, have yet not been focused within the scientific literature. The scholars recommend to addressing these topics in future research. Therefore, this paper starts to fill this scientific gap by developing assumptions regarding the formation of trust through new ICTs within GVTs, based on theoretical background. The results can be used for further research that verifies these assumptions practically through experiments.

Management Science is often confronted with optimization problems characterised by weak underlying theoretical models and complex constraints. In recent years, biomimetic approaches have received growing attention from Marketing, Finance and Human Resource researchers and executives as effective tools for practically handling such problems. Biomimetic approaches include a variety of heuristic methods - such as neural networks, genetic algorithms, immunitary nets, cellular automata - that simulate nature's way of solving complex problems and, thus, can be considered as numerical transpositions of true life problem solving. Bio-Mimetic Approaches in Management Science presents a selection of recent papers on biomimetic approaches and their application to Management Science. Most of these papers were presented at the last ACSEG/CAEMS International Congresses (Approches Connexionnistes en Sciences Economiques et de Gestion/Connectionnist Approaches in Economics and Management Science). All papers combine the discussion of conceptual issues with illustrative empirical applications, and contain detailed information on the way heuristics are practically implemented. Profit orientation of shareholders and demands of employees are reflected by the same target: prosperity. Successful companies yield profit for shareholders, but also secured working places, good salary and wage developments, even shareholding is possible (cf. Kleinbeck et all 2001, p. 24). In order to be successful productivity continuously has to be improved. Increasing productivity means to accomplish more with less. This movement is driven by the concept of scarce resources as well as the growing competition on the markets, enabled by globalization. The productivity of a company strongly depends on the input of employees. Until the 60s it was assumed that employees are firstly motivated by economic incentives and only later through security of employment and fair working conditions. With the human relation movement abandoning wage incentives it appeared that there should be more factors that influence the productivity of employees. It was assumed that employee satisfaction and intrinsic motivation lead to success (cf. Spender 1961, p. 426). The core question is: how are employee satisfaction and motivation developed and how can they be used to drive productivity? The productivity measurement and enhancement system from Pritchard shall give a response to this question. Pritchard states,'the idea is to give people the tools to do the work better while at the same time help them feel a sense of ownership in the resulting system and empowerment in determining important aspects of their work'(cf. Pritchard 2011). Lean manufacturing concepts, such as world class manufacturing, are built upon this idea. The paper on hand raises the question if employees are being motivated by the productivity measurement and enhancement system? In order to answer this question the concept of motivation will be closer defined. In a second step, a solid knowledge foundation on the productivity measurement and enhancement system is needed. Literature on the Pritchards system concentrates on the outcome productivity rather than motivation itsself. Therefore a theoretical analysis is made upon the system by means of application of motivational theories. Under the assumption that productivity is a result of motivation the question will also be answered through gained experience from implementation in business. In conclusion motivation increasing and decreasing aspects will give weight on answering the question.

The six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have achieved substantial development progress in recent decades, as is evidenced by their high rankings within the United Nations Development Programme's Human Development Index (HDI). As the public sector in Germany will likely increasingly face staffing problems in the coming years, this book approaches the topic of employer attractiveness within the German public sector from an internal perspective, focusing on current employees'turnover intentions. Using secondary survey data, ordinal logistic regression models are built to explore the influence of the social environment at the workplace, measured by the perception of a participative safety climate, in this context. Therefore, this paper takes its theoretical departure in value research, arguing that values serve as an underlying mechanism that informs behavioral intent and ultimately behavior. Drawing on a concept that has long floated at the periphery of turnover research, this project is largely exploratory in nature, but suggests that a social climate at work that is characterized by trust and support has a negative impact on turnover intentions in the German public sector. Age and employment status are found to not alter the effect, but it is likely mediated by job satisfaction.
