The purpose of this paper is to study the two dimensional deformation due to internal heat source in a microstretch thermoelastic solid with microtemperatures (MTSM). A mechanical force is applied along the interface of fluid half space and microstretch thermoelastic half space. The normal mode analysis has been applied to obtain the exact expressions for component of normal displacement, microtemperature, normal force stress, microstress tensor, heat flux moment tensor, and couple stress for MTSM. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of rice residue on the physicochemical properties of silver carp surimi gels. The whiteness of gels was slightly decreased when rice residue was added. Breaking force and deformation of gels were significantly decreased with more than 1% rice residue addition (p < 0.05). The trends of storage modulus, tan δ, and interactions demonstrated a negative effect of rice residue (more than 1%) on gel network. The addition of rice residue reduced the interactions in surimi gel network, such as hydrophobic interaction. The sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis indicated that there was little interaction between rice proteins and myofibrillar proteins. Rice residue deteriorated the freeze-thaw stability of surimi gels. Therefore, rice residue could be an inactive filler in the gel network unless it was less than 1%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We report significant back stress strengthening and strain hardening in gradient structured (GS) interstitial-free (IF) steel. Back stress is long-range stress caused by the pileup of geometrically necessary dislocations (GNDs). A simple equation and a procedure are developed to calculate back stress basing on its formation physics from the tensile unloading-reloading hysteresis loop. The gradient structure has mechanical incompatibility due to its grain size gradient. This induces strain gradient, which needs to be accommodated by GNDs. Back stress not only raises the yield strength but also significantly enhances strain hardening to increase the ductility. Impact Statement: Gradient structure leads to high back stress hardening to increase strength and ductility.
