There are almost 90 million forced migrants around the world, many of whom could benefit from online higher education, and yet there is evidence that displaced people face challenges in online learning environments. This paper reports on a study in the context of a UK university's master's-level distance learning program that offers Sanctuary Scholarships to forced migrants. The study's aims were: (1) to identify practical ways in which higher education institutions can support displaced learners to engage in online learning, and (2) to add to our theoretical understanding of refugees' and asylum seekers' engagement in online degree programs. The methodology included a theoretical and an empirical component. In the theoretical analysis, the indicators from Redmond et al.'s (2018) Online Engagement Framework were mapped onto capability lists drawn from the literature on the Capability Approach, generating a set of proposed underpinning capabilities for online engagement. The empirical analysis, which was carried out in parallel, was based on semi-structured interviews with ten online Sanctuary Scholars. Thematic analysis of the empirical data showed how the research participants had enacted behavioral, emotional, cognitive, social, and collaborative engagement and revealed some of the ways in which engagement fueled further engagement, alongside the mediating role of personal agency. When combined with the theoretical analysis, the findings enabled the creation of a capabilitarian online engagement model. The paper concludes with a discussion of the implications for institutional policies and practices around learning design and delivery to support online engagement among displaced learners, and potentially also among other underrepresented students. Benzene is an occupational and environmental toxicant, causing hematopoietic damage. Our study is aimed to extract the trend of benzene-induced leukemia (BIL) and qualitatively and quantitatively estimate research on it. Publications on BIL were identified from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Microsoft Excel 2019 (Redmond, WA) and The CiteSpace 5.6.R5 software (Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA) were used to analyze the publication outcomes, countries, institutions, authors, keywords, and research frontiers. The overall 1152 publications were collected from 1990 to 2019 until November 6, 2020. Environ Health Persp had the highest number of articles published. The USA were the top country in terms of BIL. The Smith MT, Yin SN, Lan Q, and Hayes RB are both listed in the top 10 of co-cited authors, high contribution authors, and the authors of co-cited references. High IF articles account for a considerable proportion, among all the publications. Chinese institutions engaged in BIL and contributed a large part of articles. Exposure population, exposure dose, and exposure risk are the research hotspots in this field. The risk of benzene exposure on childhood leukemia is at issue, and the studies on attributable risk of benzene-induced leukemia are few. Motivation: This study deals with the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in digital pathology (DP). The study starts from the highlights of a companion paper. Objective: The aim was to investigate the consensus and acceptance of the insiders on this issue. Procedure: An electronic survey based on the standardized package Microsoft Forms (Microsoft, Redmond, WA, USA) was proposed to a sample of biomedical laboratory technicians (149 admitted in the study, 76 males, 73 females, mean age 44.2 years). Results: The survey showed no criticality. It highlighted (a) the good perception of the basic training on both groups, and (b) a uniformly low perceived knowledge of AI (as arisen from the graded questions). Expectations, perceived general impact, perceived changes in the work-flow, and worries clearly emerged in the study. Conclusions: The of AI in DP is an unstoppable process, as well as the increase of the digitalization in the health domain. Stakeholders must not look with suspicion towards AI, which can represent an important resource, but should invest in monitoring and consensus training initiatives based also on electronic surveys. In this non-exhaustive review, we discuss the importance of invariant vectors in atomic physics, such as the Laplace–Runge–Lenz vector, the Redmond vector in the presence of an electric field, the Landau–Avron–Sivardièrevector when the system is subject to a magnetic field, and the supergeneralized Runge–Lenz vector for the two-center problem. Purpose: League expansion involves a significant investment of time, money and resources. Therefore, ensuring the success of new franchises is imperative to the commercial health of a competition; however, there is an absence of studies examining the establishment process of franchises. In 2020, Super Rugby announced that it would expand in 2022 with the inclusion of two new franchises, Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika. The article explores what implementation challenges Drua and Pasifika faced during franchise establishment. Design/methodology/approach: Following a qualitative case study methodology, data were collected via newspaper, website and document repository 'Nexis', and triangulated against interviews with five expert individuals involved in franchise establishment. Applying mixed-coding, thematic analysis using Redmond's franchise expansion factors framework, six deductive and two inductive themes were generated. Findings: In accordance with Redmond's franchise expansion factors framework, financial sustainability, competitive balance and labour market challenges were identified as internal challenges, whilst media relationships, market competition and community engagement were highlighted as external challenges. Additionally, two new factors, infrastructure and business operations and youth development, were inductively identified as issues during franchise establishment extending Redmond's model. Originality/value: The study offers strategic guidance to practitioners on franchise establishment and provides insight into cross-border expansion processes. Purpose: Urethral injury is one of the most important complications in transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) in male patients with rectal cancer. The purpose of this study was to investigate holographic image-guided surgery in TaTME. Methods: Polygon (stereolithography) files were created and exported from SYNAPSE VINCENT, and then uploaded into the Holoeyes MD system (Holoeyes Inc., Tokyo, Japan). After uploading the data, the three-dimensional image was automatically converted into a case-specific hologram. The hologram was then installed into the head mount display, HoloLens (Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, WA). The surgeons and assistants wore the HoloLens when they performed TaTME. Results: In a Wi-Fi-enabled operating room, each surgeon, wearing a HoloLens, shared the same hologram and succeeded in adjusting the hologram by making simple hand gestures from their respective angles. The hologram contributed to better comprehension of the positional relationships between the urethra and the surrounding pelvic organs during surgery. All surgeons were able to properly determine the dissection line. Conclusions: This first experience suggests that intraoperative holograms contributed to reducing the risk of urethral injury and understanding transanal anatomy. Intraoperative holograms have the potential to become a new next-generation surgical support tool for use in spatial awareness and the sharing of information between surgeons. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The motion of a relativistic charged particle in an external specified field of a planer single- and multifrequency circularly polarized electromagnetic wave of large amplitude in the presence of a constant uniform magnetic field (the Redmond field and the multifrequency Redmond field) when the relativistic consideration is required has been analyzed in detail. It is shown that the kinetic energy of a particle in the multi-frequency Redmond field depends not only on the intensity of the wave, and the frequencies of the carrier wave, but also on the direction of polarization of the wave (i.e., right- or left-handed), and the cyclotron frequency. When the COVID-19 pandemic halted in-person data collection, many linguists adopted new online technologies to replace traditional methods, including video conferencing applications (apps) like Zoom (Zoom Video Communications, San Jose, CA), which allow live interaction with remote participants. This study evaluated the suitability of video calls for the phonetic analysis of vowel configurations, mergers, and nasalization by comparing simultaneous recordings from three popular video conferencing apps (Zoom; Microsoft Skype, Redmond, WA; Microsoft Teams, Redmond, WA) to those taken from professional equipment (H4n field recorder) and an offline iPad (Apple, Cupertino, CA) identical to those running the apps. All three apps conveyed vowel arrangements and nasalization patterns relatively faithfully, but absolute measurements varied, particularly for the female speaker and in the 750–1500 Hz range, which affected the locations (F1 × F2) of low and back vowels and reduced nasalization measurements (A1-P0) for the female's prenasal vowels. Based on these results, we assess the validity of remote recording using these apps and offer recommendations for the best practices for collecting high fidelity acoustic phonetic data from a distance. Background: The World Health Organization initiated test, treat, and track (T3) malaria strategy to support malaria-endemic countries in their efforts to achieve universal coverage with diagnostic testing, antimalarial treatment, and strengthening surveillance systems. Unfortunately, T3 is not adopted by over-the-counter medicine sellers (OTCMS) where many patients with malaria-like symptoms first seek treatment. Sub-Saharan African countries are considering introducing and scaling up RDTs in these outlets to reduce malaria burden. In this context, this study is aimed at improving implementation of the T3 among OTCMS using a number of intervention tools that could be scaled-up easily at the national level.Methods/design: The interventions will be evaluated using a two-arm, cluster randomized trial across 8 rural communities (4 clusters per arm), in two adjacent districts (Fanteakwa North and Fanteakwa South districts) of Ghana. A total of 8 OTCMS in the intervention arm and 5 OTCMS in the control arm in the selected communities will participate in the study. In the intervention arm only, subsidized malaria rapid diagnostic test (mRDT) kits will be introduced after the OTCMS have been trained on how to use the kit appropriately. Supervision, technical assistance, feedbacks, and collection of data will be provided on a regular basis at the participating medicine stores. The primary outcome is the proportion of children under 10 years with fever or suspected to have malaria visiting OTCMS and tested (using mRDT) before treatment. Secondary outcomes will include adherence to national malaria treatment guidelines and recommended mRDT retail price. Outcomes will be measured using mainly a household survey supplemented by mystery client survey and a surveillance register on malaria tests conducted by the OTCMS during patient consultations. Polyoxymethylene dimethyl ethers (OMEn) are frequently discussed as alternative diesel fuels, with various synthesis routes considered. OME3–5 syntheses demand significant amounts of thermal energy due to the complex separation processes that they entail. Therefore, innovative process designs are needed. An important tool for the development of new processes is process simulation software. To ensure sound process simulations, reliable physico-chemical models and component property data are necessary. Herein we present the implementation of a state-of-the-art thermodynamic model to describe the component systems of formaldehyde-water and formaldehyde-methanol using Microsoft® Excel (2010, Microsoft Corp, Redmond, WA, USA) and Aspen Plus®, (V8.8, Aspen Tech, Bedford, MA, USA) determine the deviation between the calculated results and experimental literature data, and minimize the deviation by means of parameter fitting. To improve the accuracy of the estimation of the missing property data of hemiformals and methylene glycols formed from formaldehyde using group contribution methods, the normal boiling points were estimated based on molecular analogies. The boiling points of OME6-10 are determined through parameter regression in accordance with the vapor pressure equation. As an application example, an optimization of the product separation of the state-of-the-art formaldehyde synthesis is presented that helps decrease the losses of methanol and formaldehyde in flue gas and wastewater.
