The ion-adsorption rare earth deposit developed on the Mosuoying granite in the Panxi area of southwestern China represents a significant advancement in the exploration of ion-adsorption rare earth deposits in Sichuan. Being the first and currently the sole ion-adsorption rare earth deposit in Sichuan, studying its rare earth mineralization characteristics holds great importance. This paper aims to investigate the geochemical properties of the Mosuoying granite and its overlying weathered crust using rock geochemical methods based on field geological investigations. The findings reveal that the deposit belongs to the light rare earth type, with the ore-forming parent rock attributed to the high-potassium calc-alkaline series. It exhibits a high rock REE content ranging from 419 to 578 ppm, indicating favorable mineralization potential. Hydrothermal alteration reduces the REE content of the parent rock, leading to a notable increase in the LREE/HREE ratio, thus impacting the partitioning of rare earth elements and subsequent ore formation. The distribution characteristics of rare earth elements in each layer of the weathered crust are controlled by the parent rock and exhibit a light rare earth distribution pattern. The completely weathered layer is the main enrichment zone for rare earth elements, and the migration and enrichment patterns of rare earth elements in the weathered crust are evident. From the semi-weathered layer to the completely weathered layer, all REEs were gained, with a higher degree of migration for LREE. The sedimentary environment and organic matter enrichment relationship of the Upper Ordovician Wufeng Formation black shale, Guanyinqiao mudstone, and Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation black shale in the Sichuan Basin of Weiyuan are analyzed using geochemical methods such as organic carbon, sulfur, major elements, and trace elements. The experimental results illustrate that the upper section of the Wufeng Formation and the lower section of the Longmaxi Formation are organic matter enrichment layers. The presence of P indicates a high productivity level in the Sichuan Basin from the Late Ordovician to the Early Silurian. In addition, indicators such as V/Cr, Ni/Co, and S/C suggest that the Wufeng Formation was deposited under anoxic reductive conditions, that the ice age Guanyinqiao segment was in an oxygen-rich to oxygen-poor environment, and that the Longmaxi Formation was in a sulfidic environment. Mo/TOC indicates that the Wufeng Formation shale was controlled by a restricted basin and that the Guanyinqiao segment and the Longmaxi Formation were in a medium-to-weak retention environment. The weak correlation of TOC with P/Al and Al indicates that the level of primary productivity and terrigenous detritus had a minor effect on the organic matter enrichment of the Wufeng and Longmaxi Formation black shale. Conversely, the positive correlation of TOC with V/Cr and Ni/Co illustrates that the anoxic reductive sedimentary environment is the main factor affecting the organic matter enrichment of the Wufeng and Longmaxi Formation black shale. Based on these studies, the development model of organic-rich shales of the Ordovician–Silurian in Weiyuan, Sichuan Basin is proposed. Organic matter serves as the hydrocarbon-generating parent material for shale reservoirs, in which organic pores are also important reservoir spaces. Different types of organic matter have wide differences in hydrocarbon generation and pore-forming ability. Based on the occurrence state of organic matter, in the over-mature Marine shale organic matter mainly includes in situ and migrated organic matter. It has been extensively studied on in situ organic matter and organic matter migrating into inorganic pores, while there are few reports of organic matter migrating into microfractures. In this study, the over-mature Marine shale reservoir in the first sub-member of the Silurian Longmaxi Formation in the Luzhou area of the Sichuan Basin is taken as an example. Core observation, optical microscope, high-precision large-view scanning (MAPS, modular automated processing system) and mineral analysis scanning (QEMSCAN, quantitative evaluation of minerals by scanning electron microscopy) were conducted to observe the morphological characteristics of organic matter veins, and then analyze the genesis and pore-forming characteristics of such organic matter. The results show that: ① Organic matter veins (OM veins) are soluble organic matter with fractures as an effective channel, and OM veins in the study section is easy to form under the condition of micro-fractures in the shale sweet segment after organic matter generating oil and before gas generation ② Organic matter in the OM veins are less efficient in pore-forming, with sparse pores and smaller pore sizes. The occurrence of fractures varies greatly, including horizontal fractures, oblique fractures and high-angle fractures, which are mostly developed in the Long111 and Long112 layers. ③ The development of OM veins can indicate better reservoir conditions, that is, the layers have strong hydrocarbon generation intensity (strong pore-forming ability of organic matter) and high brittle mineral content (strong reservoir compressibility). The new findings in this paper reveal that OM veins are instructive for the determination of geological–engineering sweet spots in the Longmaxi Formation in the Sichuan Basin, and also provide guidance for future research on occurrence form and geological significance of different types of organic matter. The Lala copper area in Huili County, Sichuan Province, China, is favored by superior regional metallogenic geological conditions due to its location in an extremely important copper–iron metallogenic belt in southwest China, and it has witnessed the formation of a series of unique iron–copper deposits following the superposition of multiple tectonic events. In recent years, major mineral exploration breakthroughs have been achieved in the deep and peripheral zones of this area. Using the Lala copper mining area in Sichuan as an example, this paper describes metallogenic prediction research carried out based on multivariate geoscience information (geological information, geophysics, geochemistry, and remote sensing data) and the application of geographic information system (GIS) technology and the radial basis function neural network (RBFLN) model. The five specific aspects covered in this paper are as follows: (1) we collected geology–geophysics–geochemistry remote sensing data and other information, adopted GIS technology to extract multivariate geoscience ore-forming anomaly information, and established a geoscience prospecting information database; (2) we applied the RBFLN algorithm for information on integrated analysis of ore-forming anomalies in the study area; (3) we applied a statistical method to divide the threshold value to delineate favorable ore-prospecting target areas; (4) we applied three-dimensional (3D) visualization technology, through which sample assistance was verified, to evaluate the performance of the RBFLN model; and (5) the results revealed that the RBFLN model can integrate multivariate and multi-type geoscience information and effectively predict metallogenic prospective areas and delineate favorable target areas. The metallogenic prediction method based on RBFLN technology provides a scientific basis for the exploration and deployment of minerals in the study area. Pore characteristics are one of the most important elements in the study of shale reservoir properties and are a key parameter for the evaluation of the potential of shale oil and gas resources. Low-temperature nitrogen adsorption is a common laboratory method that is used to characterize the pore structure of shale. However, the effect of shale's particle size on the experimental results of the nitrogen adsorption of deep shale samples is still unclear. In this paper, using deep shale samples of different mesh sizes from the Luzhou Block as an example, we studied the effect of particle size on the pore structure of deep shale, as characterized by nitrogen adsorption experiments. The results showed that the pore volume of deep shale is mainly distributed in the mesoporous range, with a pore size ranging from 2 to 20 nm. The pore volume, as measured by nitrogen adsorption, increases slowly as the particle size decreases and then it increases rapidly. The particle size of shale has no obvious effect on the measurement of the specific surface area. The fractal dimension of deep shale gradually increases as the particle size of the shale samples increases and the smaller the particle size, the higher the correlation coefficient, R2, of the fractal dimension fitting. In this paper, different recommended sizes are given for selecting suitable particle sizes in nitrogen adsorption experiments on deep shale with different structural parameters, which will increase the accuracy of the study of the pore structure of deep shale. The Gacun deposit is a typical Volcanic Hosted Massive Sulfide (VHMS) associated with Late Triassic seafloor calc-alkaline felsic volcanics. Studies of zircon ages, petrology, major and trace element geochemistry, and Sr-Nd-Hf isotope geochemistry of volcanic rocks from the Northern Yidun arc were undertaken in this paper. We reshaped the Gacun magmatic system activity time, defined the origin of magma evolution, and proposed a metallogenic model of the deposit. Whole-rock major element compositions of the magmatic rocks in the Northern Yidun island arc indicate that they are a complete basalt–andesite–dacite–rhyolite assemblage, showing three obvious stages of composition evolution. They are enriched in large-ion lithophile and light rare earth elements, but depleted in high field-strength and heavy rare earth elements, with weak-to-negligible Eu anomalies (obvious in rhyolite). These geochemical features indicate that the Northern Yidun island arc is a magmatic arc based on ancient continental crust. The Ganzi–Litang oceanic subduction induced mantle melting and produced calc-alkaline basaltic magma, while the MASH processes at the bottom of the crust produced andesitic magma. Part of the andesite magma erupted to form andesite lava. The remaining part was mixed with magma produced via anatexis of ancient crust (approximately 20%–40% of the ancient crustal component), forming the ore-bearing rhyolite. Zircon U-Pb age data defines Gacun magmatic–hydrothermal mineralization sequence of events: At 238 Ma, arc magmatism led to the formation of andesite in the eastern part of the deposit. At 233 Ma, in the arc zone (the western part of Gacun deposit), a large-scale bimodal magmatism formed the main ore-bearing rock series of Gacun deposit, rhyolitic volcanic rocks. At 221 Ma, volcanic eruptions tended to end and sub-volcanic intrusion occurred, forming a lava dome, which was located under the ore-bearing rhyolitic volcanic rocks. The lava dome acted as a thermal engine and promoted hydrothermal circulation. The hydrothermal activity reached a peak at 217 ± 1 Ma, and the Gacun VHMS deposit was formed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Jiajika rare metal deposit contains the largest area of granitic pegmatite-type rare metal deposits in China. The X03 vein is an immense rare metal deposit dominated by lithium, which was found in the deposit in recent years. The contact metamorphic belt of tourmalinization and petrochemistry is widely developed in its wall rocks, and the altered rocks formed contain Li and other rare metal mineralization. In this paper, the tourmaline found in the different rocks of the Jiajika X03 vein is divided into four types: two-mica quartz schist (Tur-Ⅰ), tourmaline hornfels (Tur-Ⅱ), tourmaline-bearing granite pegmatite (Tur-Ⅲ) and spodumene-bearing granite pegmatite (Tur-Ⅳ); their in situ major element, trace element and boron isotope data are systematically studied. The results show that all tourmalines in the Jiajika X03 vein deposit belong to the alkali group, and are schorl–Oxy/Fluor–schorl, dravite–Hydroxy-dravite and foitite–Oxy foitite solid solutions, among which Tur-Ⅰ are dravite, Tur-Ⅱ are foitite of hydrothermal origin and Tur-Ⅲ and Tur-Ⅳ are schorl of magmatic origin. The boron isotope values show that the boron involved the formation process of tourmaline mainly originates from the Majingzi S-type granite, and the boron isotope variations in tourmaline are controlled by melt fluid and Rayleigh fractionation. Moreover, there is a clear correlation between the B isotope value of tourmaline and the Li, Mn, Zn, Mg, and V contents, showing that these contents in tourmaline are good indicators of the mineralization type of pegmatite. High graphitization is responsible for low-resistivity shale development with poor reservoir quality. This paper provides an explanation of organic matter graphitization and determines the impact of high graphite content on low-resistivity shale reservoir quality at the Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation in the Southern Sichuan Basin. Fine veins are frequently developed at shale samples with Ro > 3.5%, graphitized organic matter > 25%, and resistivity < 5 Ω•m, which are dominated by three mineral assemblages: brunsvigite, barite-hyalophane-barium feldspar-potassium feldspar-anhydrite, and calcite-ankerite. These filling minerals are characterized by an Eu positive anomaly and high Ba, Fe, and Mn contents, suggesting that low-resistivity shale was modified by magmatic-related low-temperature hydrothermal fluid. Temperature measurements of brine inclusions and a semi-empirical geothermometer of chlorite show that low-temperature hydrothermal fluid experienced the chlorite stage (150–180 °C), the low-sulfidation stage (120–150 °C), and the low-temperature calcitization stage. Paleozoic fault systems and late Permian hydrothermal activities associated with the Emeishan mantle plume control the graphitization of low-resistivity shale. The water formation and seawater infiltrated into the deep crust along the Paleozoic basement faults under gravity, developing alkaline hot brine through mantle plume heating and then causing a water-rock reaction with basement rocks. They migrated upward along deep and large Paleozoic faults through convective thermal circulation in the Tiangongtang area, the Shuanglong-Luochang area, and the Xuyong area. Cation exchange and redox reactions occurred during the interaction between high-temperature hydrothermal fluid and cool wall rocks. The migration of alkaline hot brine via the Wufeng-Longmaxi shale introduced a subsequent water-rock reaction, resulting in the development of hydrothermal mineral assemblages that intricately filled fractures. It increased formation temperature and enhanced thermal maturity and graphitization of organic matter at the Wufeng-Longmaxi low-resistivity shale, resulting in a wide distribution of low-resistivity shale at the Changning Block. Brittleness is important in the evaluation of the fracturing ability of shale reservoir and has a significant impact on shale gas exploration and development. This paper discusses the characteristics and controlling factors of brittleness of continental shale in the Da'anzhai Member of the Ziliujing Formation of Lower Jurassic age in the northeast Sichuan Basin. Continental shale lithofacies and their associations were grouped into four main rock types: clayey shale, silty shale, shell calcareous clayey shale, and silty clayey shale, characterized by the high clay content and local enrichment of carbonate minerals as a whole. Compared with the marine shale, the continental shale contained a low content of siliceous minerals, a high content of carbonate minerals, and a large number of shell limestone interlayers. Carbonate minerals play an important role in controlling the brittleness of continental shale. The shale interlayers were mainly shell limestone interlayers with a thickness of several centimeters and a large number of shell laminates with thicknesses of several millimeters were also observed. The shell laminates were mainly filled with calcite. Due to the dissolution process, a large number of bedding joints and corrosion joints were formed in the calcite shell layers. In the interlayers with a high shell content, a large number of microfractures developed. The Silurian Longmaxi (S1l) marine shale and Jurassic Dongyuemiao (J1d) lacustrine shale in the Sichuan Basin, West China have attracted considerable attention from the oil-and-gas industry in China. Currently, the differences in pore types and pore structures between them are poorly understood, which has limited shale-resource exploration in the Sichuan Basin. This paper systemically compares the pore characteristics of Longmaxi shale and Dongyuemiao shale and investigates their impact on shale-gas enrichment by integrating field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE–SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), low-pressure gas (CO2 and N2) adsorption and mercury-intrusion porosimetry, high-pressure sorption isotherms, gas-saturation measurement, molecular-dynamics simulation, etc. The results show that the S1l organic-rich marine shale and the J1d lacustrine shale have different pore types and pore structures. The S1l shale is dominated by organic pores, mainly micropores and mesopores with ink-bottle-like pore shapes, while the J1d shale is primarily composed of clay-mineral pores, mainly mesopores and macropores with slit- or plate-like pore shapes. Organic pores can provide considerable storage space for shale-gas enrichment in S1l marine shale, which also determines the adsorption capacity of shale reservoirs. Although organic pores are not the most prevalent in the Dongyuemiao lacustrine shale, they also play an important role in enhancing reservoir quality and absorbed-gas enrichment. Clay-mineral pores contribute weakly to the storage space of J1d-lacustrine-shale reservoirs. Mesopores are the most important form of storage space in both S1l shale and J1d shale, contributing significantly to shale-gas enrichment. Electrical exploration has become an important means of shale gas reservoir exploration and evaluation, and is expected to play a key role in the later stages of reservoir fracturing and development. At present, the research on the electrical response characteristics of shale gas reservoirs and their relationship with reservoir parameters is extensive and in-depth, but there is little research on their complex resistivity anisotropy characteristics and influencing factors, which restricts petrophysical modeling and reservoir parameter prediction, and reduces the reliability of shale gas exploration and reservoir evaluation by electromagnetic methods. In this paper, shale samples from the Longmaxi Formation and the Wufeng Formation of shale gas wells in southern Sichuan were collected, the complex resistivity of 34 shales in bedding direction and vertical bedding direction were measured, and the induced polarization (IP) parameters of shales were extracted by inversion. The electrical anisotropy response characteristics under different temperature and pressure conditions were analyzed, and the influencing factors and laws of complex resistivity anisotropy of shales were revealed. Combined with the test results of shale porosity and permeability, the evaluation model of resistivity, polarizability and porosity and permeability parameters was established. The research results have formed a set of testing methods and analysis techniques for electrical anisotropy of shale reservoirs, which are mainly based on complex resistivity parameter testing. It is helpful to understand the electrical anisotropy characteristics of shale gas reservoirs in southern Sichuan; this will provide the theoretical and physical basis for shale gas reservoir evaluation and fracturing monitoring by electrical exploration. The petrology, mineralogy, elemental geochemistry, biology and PGEs characteristics of the black shale of the Wufeng and Longmaxi Formations in the CN outcrop of the Sichuan Basin are studied in this paper. The distribution and change in PGEs at different horizons are summarized, and the reasons for PGEs enrichment are discussed. The results show that the PGEs in the organic-rich shale segment are obviously enriched, which is positively correlated with the Total Organic Carbon (TOC) content and has a Pt–Pd distribution characteristic. δEuN, Pd/Pt, (Pt + Pd)/(Os + Ru + Ir), etc., and SiO2–Al2O3 and It/Pt–Pd/Pt discrimination diagrams, indicate that they are not extraterrestrial sources, nor are they the origins of normal seawater deposition but they are related to hydrothermal deposition. The enrichment process of PGEs is relatively complicated and is controlled by the impact of the sedimentary environment in the restricted basin. The anoxic water environment and organic-rich environment are the main factors of PGEs enrichment. The Songpan–Ganzi Orogenic Belt (SGOB) is bounded by the South China, North China, and Qiangtang blocks and forms the eastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau. The Tiechanghe Granite is located at the junction of the southeast margin of the SGOB and the western margin of the Yangtze Block. To elucidate the genetic relationship between the Tiechanghe Granite and the surrounding molybdenum deposits in Western Sichuan, in this study, we conducted zircon U-Pb and molybdenite Re-Os isotopic dating. The results indicate that the Tiechanghe Granite predominantly consists of monzogranite, with minor occurrences of syenogranite, while the molybdenum deposits are mainly found in skarn and quartz veins. The laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) zircon U-Pb ages of the Tiechanghe Granite range from 162.9 ± 0.7 Ma (MSWD = 0.31, n = 25) to 163.4 ± 0.6 Ma (MSWD = 0.85, n = 26), and the LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb age of the pegmatite veins is 164.1 ± 0.9 Ma (MSWD = 1.3, n = 19). These ages are consistent with the weighted average Re-Os age of the Ziershi molybdenite (160.3 ± 1.6 Ma, n = 2) within the error margins. These findings and previously obtained magmatic and metallogenic ages for the region suggest that a magmatic and mineralization event involving granite, molybdenum, tungsten, and copper occurred at around 162–164 Ma in the study area. A special type of sandstone in which carbonate rock fragments (CRFs) dominate the composition developed in the Upper Triassic Xujiahe Formation's fourth member (Xu4) in the western Sichuan Basin, known as calcareous sandstone. Calcareous sandstones are widely distributed in the western Sichuan and is the main production target of tight sandstone gas in the Sichuan Basin. In this study, thin sections, porosity–permeability testing, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction are applied to examine the characteristics and control factors for high-quality reservoirs in the calcareous sandstones, with a view to providing guidance for natural gas exploration and development in calcareous sandstones. The results show that the calcareous sandstone belongs to litharenite, with an average framework grain composition of 30% quartz, 1% feldspar, and 69% rock fragments, while the Xu4 sandstone has a high quartz content (average content of 71%). Primary intergranular pores are the main storage space, and the reservoir quality is quite poor. Under the influence of different parent rock properties of sandstones, there are obvious differences in the composition of framework grains between the calcareous sandstone and the ordinary Xu4 sandstone, which in turn affects the reservoir storage space, diagenesis, and reservoir quality. High-energy depositional conditions, low content of late cements, and the development of fractures are the main controlling factors for the formation of high-quality reservoirs in Xu 4 calcareous sandstones. Marine–continental transitional shale has become a new field for shale gas exploration and development in recent years. Its reservoir characteristics analysis lags significantly behind that of marine shale, which restricts the theoretical research on the accumulation of marine–continental transitional shale and the progress of exploration and development. The shale pore system is complex and has strong heterogeneity, which restricts the fine evaluation and optimization of the reservoir. Based on nitrogen adsorption–desorption experiments, the morphology and structural characteristics of coal-bearing shale pores were analyzed, and then the micro-pore structure heterogeneity was quantitatively characterized based on fractal theory and nitrogen adsorption–desorption data, and the relationship between pore structure parameters and their influence on fractal characteristics were discussed. The hysteresis loop of nitrogen desorption isotherm mainly belongs to type B, indicating ink bottle, flat plate, and slit are the main pore shapes. The pore size distribution curves are left unimodal or multimodal, with the main peak around 4 nm and 20–60 nm. Smaller pores develop a larger specific surface area, resulting in a high value of fractal dimension (2.564 to 2.677). The rougher the pore surface and the larger the specific surface area provide an adequate adsorption site for shale gas adsorption and aggregation. Soil heavy metal contamination poses a significant threat to both environmental health and ecological safety. To investigate the influencing factors, ecological hazards, and sources analysis of heavy metals in purple soil, 27 sets of soil samples were collected from varying genetic horizons within Guang'an City, and the contents of As, Cd, Cu, Cr, Hg, Ni, Pb, and Zn were analyzed. The results indicated higher concentrations of heavy metals in soil A horizon, compared to that of C horizon. The relevance analysis indicated that the soil's heavy metals were strongly correlated with the soil's physicochemical properties. The enrichment factor, pollution load index, and potential risk index highlighted slightly to severely polluted levels of soil Cd and Hg, which significantly contribute to the ecological hazards posed by soil heavy metals. The potential source of heavy metals analyzed using the APCS-MLR model identified both anthropogenic inputs and natural sources as primary contributors to heavy metal presence in soils. The Cu, Cr, Ni, Pb, and Zn contents in the samples from different genetic horizons were chiefly influenced by natural sources, such as soil matrix erosion and weathering, while the concentrations of Cd and Hg were largely affected by anthropogenic activities, specifically coal combustion and agriculture. Conversely, the As content was found to be influenced by a combination of both factors. Anthropogenic activities greatly impacted soil heavy metals at various depths within the study area, thereby underscoring the importance of monitoring these heavy metals. Lacustrine sedimentary formations potentially contain hydrocarbons. The lacustrine sedimentary rocks of the Ziliujung and Xintiangou Formations have been investigated for their hydrocarbon potential using low-pressure nitrogen adsorption (LP-N2A), low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), total organic carbon (TOC), rock-eval pyrolysis (Rock-Eval), gas chromatography (GC), gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS), X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF), and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The results show that the normalized difference of the pore parameters between the two formations is less than 10%, and the pores are mainly slit-like mesopores with high porosity. Macropores and micropores are often developed in the quartz skeleton, while mesopores often occur among organic matter, clay minerals, carbonate minerals, and pyrite particles. The organic matter abundance of the Ziliujing Formation is relatively high. Additionally, the organic matter types of the two formations are mainly type II and type III, and the sources of the organic matter are plankton and bacteria which have reached the mature gas production stage. The palaeoenvironmental differences between the depositional periods of the two formations lie within 10% of each other. The warm and humid climate promotes the development of quartz minerals to further enhance the proportion of both micropores and macropores, and the clay minerals, carbonate minerals, and pyrite carried in the terrigenous detritus are closely associated with the total organic carbon (TOC), which promotes the development of mesopores to enhance the porosity. The reservoir, organic matter, and palaeoenvironmental characteristics of fine-grained sedimentary rocks in the two formations are similar, and both of them have good potential for development. Volcaniclastic rocks are important unconventional oil and gas reservoirs from which it is difficult to determine the protolith due to strong metasomatic alteration. Intensive alteration has occurred in much of western China, but few robustly documented examples are known from which to assess the alteration processes. Further recognition from the petrological and mineralogical record is essential to quantify the diagenetic environment, the degree of alteration, and its impacts. Permian volcanic rocks are widely developed in the western Sichuan Basin (southwestern China), with a thickness of more than 200 m. The thickness of volcaniclastic rocks in the Permian Emeishan Basalt Formation is up to 140 m, with a 5600~6000 m burial depth. In this study, we demonstrate an approach to recognizing hydrothermal alteration by the occurrence of scapolite megacryst mineral pseudomorphs (SMMPs) in Permian volcaniclastic rocks in the Sichuan Basin (southwestern China). The results show that SMMPs in the Permian volcaniclastic rocks in the western Sichuan Basin mainly occur in the lower part of the Permian basalts as intragranular minerals and rock inclusions. Scapolite is transformed into quartz and albite, and only the pseudomorph is preserved, indicating secondary hydrothermal fluid metasomatic alteration. Scapolite is formed after microcrystalline titanite and is the product of the high-temperature pneumatolytic metasomatism of plagioclase from the mafic protolith during the post-magmatic stage. The mixing of meteoric water and barium-rich hydrothermal fluid leads to the precipitation of barite; additionally, the pores are filled with barite and halite after the alteration of scapolite. The silicification and hydrothermal dissolution of scapolite and the albitization of sodium-rich matrix minerals increase the pore volume, which is conducive to the later recharge by hydrothermal fluids. The deep shale of the Wufeng–Longmaxi Formation in the southern Sichuan Basin has high gas potential. The development characteristics of lamination could significantly impact reservoir property. Samples were investigated using microscopic observation, element analysis, organic petrology analysis, mineralogy analysis, and pore structure analysis to determine the types of laminae and laminasets, clarify the formation conditions of argillaceous lamina and silty lamina as well as their relationships with the sedimentary environment, and explore the influence of laminae on shale reservoir property. Results indicate that the Wufeng Formation shale exhibits weak development of laminae due to bioturbation, while the Longmaxi Formation shale develops continuous, parallel, and plate-like laminae. Compared with light silty lamina-rich shale, dark argillaceous lamina-rich shale usually develops in an anoxic reduction environment, with higher total organic carbon content, porosity, pore volume, specific surface area, and more developed organic matter pores, which can provide greater space for shale gas adsorption and storage. Shales in the middle section of the Longmaxi Formation are characterized by the development of silty-argillaceous interbedded type laminaset, which have good reservoir performance, making them the primary target for deep shale gas exploration and development. When the thermal maturity of the Longmaxi Formation in the southern Sichuan Basin is too high, the pore structure of shale becomes poor. Therefore, to investigate the effect of organic matter thermal maturity on shale pore structure, a study was conducted. Using the Longmaxi Formation shale in the southern Sichuan Basin as an example, the intrinsic relationship between shale porosity, pore structure parameters, organic matter laser Raman maturity, and organic matter graphitization degree was examined using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, particle helium porosity measurement, organic matter micro-laser Raman spectroscopy, and gas adsorption experiments. The results indicate that thermal maturity is the macroscopic manifestation of the graphitization degree of organic matter, and the correlation coefficient between the two is 0.85. A thermal maturity of 3.5% (with a corresponding organic matter graphitization degree of 17%) aligns with the highest values of shale porosity, pore volume, and pore-specific surface area across all pore size conditions. The evolution model of shale pore structure can be divided into two stages. The first stage is characterized by a thermal maturity between 2.0% and 3.5% (with a corresponding degree of graphitization of organic matter between 0% and 17%). During this stage, the number and connectivity of micro-macropores increase with increasing thermal maturity. The second stage is marked by a thermal maturity between 3.5% and 4.3% (with a corresponding degree of graphitization of organic matter between 17% and 47.32%). Basement faults are present, leading to abnormally high thermal maturity, poor preservation conditions, continuous generation of micropores, better connectivity, and a reduced number of pores. Medium macropores with good connectivity suffer from gas loss in the fracture network, leading to the collapse and disappearance of pores. The overpressure phenomenon is a widespread occurrence in unconventional shale gas reservoirs. Multiple overpressure shale gas fields were discovered in southern China, and there is no doubt that the gas production per well increases with increasing pressure coefficient (the ratio of the reservoir fluid pressure to the corresponding normal hydrostatic pressure). Thus, successful evaluation and production strategies of organic-rich shale deposits require an understanding of the evolution of the pressure coefficient and its controlling factors in these deposits. In this paper, drilling engineering data of a typical well were collected, and clay mineral tests and overburden diffusion coefficient experiments were conducted. Based on multiphysics simulations, this paper analyzes the overpressure characteristics and formation mechanisms of overpressure in the Longmaxi Formation shale, as well as its geological evolution and controlling factors. The results show that the large amount of shale gas is the cause of overpressure formation rather than disequilibrium compaction. The simulation results show that pressure coefficients of the typical well range from 0.84 to 1.49. The current pressure coefficient increases with increasing pressure coefficient after the last hydrocarbon generation. A large initial pressure coefficient (>1.9), short lifting time (<100 Ma) and small lifting amplitude (<4000 m) are favorable for the preservation of shale gas. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Lijiagou pegmatite spodumene deposit, located in the middle of the Songpan–Garze Fold Belt and southeast of the Ke'eryin ore field, is a newly discovered super-large deposit. In order to reveal the metallogenic tectonic environment and evolution process of pegmatite, based on the study of the geological characteristics of pegmatite, we carried out a whole-rock geochemical analysis of Ke'eryin two-mica granite and Lijiagou pegmatite and carried out a detailed electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) and laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICPMS) analysis of mica minerals in each zonal pegmatite. The results show that the Ke'eryin two-mica granite is mainly formed in the transition period from syn-collision to post-collision. After the end of the continental collision, the crust is squeezed and thickened in the post-collision extensional transition tectonic environment. Mica from the microcline pegmatite zone (MP) to the albite spodumene pegmatite zone (ASP) in pegmatite show different compositions and structural characteristics, with the evolution trend in the direction from muscovite to Li-bearing mica. The type of mica from MP to AP is mainly muscovite, and Li-bearing mica appears in ASP, which is secondary and metasomatic at the edge of primary muscovite. From MP to ASP, there was a negative correlation between Nb/Ta, K/Rb and the Li, Rb, and Cs contents of mica, while the contents of Li, Rb, Cs, and F in the Li-bearing mica of ASP increased sharply. This evidence illustrates that the favorable tectonic environment contributed to the formation of the Lijiagou pegmatitic spodumene deposit. Lijiagou pegmatite experienced the magmatic–hydrothermal evolution process and has a high degree of differentiation and evolution from MP to ASP, which gradually increased. Combined with the change in mica type, it is considered that ASP formed from the stage of magmatic transition to hydrothermal and was a hydrothermal environment, and Li, Rb, and Cs mainly began to enrich at the stage of magmatic–hydrothermal transition. Featuring subtle lithological alterations in the host rocks and containing colossal gemstone crystals, the scheelite deposit at Xuebaoding in the Pingwu region of Sichuan Province exhibits characteristics typical of a vein-like hydrothermal-type deposit. The scheelite from the Xuebaoding region is renowned for its high saturation of color, perfect crystal shape, and pure color. In this study, its crystal structure and mineralogical, geochemical, and in situ Sr-Nd isotope characteristics are all systematically characterized. Our objective is to determine the source of ore-forming materials, the timing of the mineralization, and the chemical composition of scheelite, including major elements, trace elements, and rare earths elements (REE). The scheelite samples were analyzed with a variety of methods such as polarizing microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF), electron probing, and laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). In addition, conventional gemological tests were performed using instruments including gemstone microscopes, GI-UVB ultraviolet fluorescent lamps, grating spectroscopy, etc. The results demonstrate that scheelite exhibits a high refractive index, excellent crystallinity, and a granular structure. Clear color bands and ring structures are observed within the minerals, accompanied by interference colors of light blue, blue, and yellow. Additionally, the mineral components are relatively concentrated, with muscovite and illite serving as accessory minerals. Furthermore, the chemical composition of scheelite reveals a WO3/CaO mass ratio that approaches or exceeds the ideal value. Moreover, it exhibits a wide range of variations in total rare earth element (∑REE) content, which is characterized by an enrichment of light rare earths (LREE), significant negative Eu anomalies, and insignificant Ce anomalies. In addition, the metallogenic formation of scheelite can be estimated to have occurred during the Toarcian stage in the Lower Jurassic Epoch period, approximately 183 Ma. The study further revealed that A-type granite serves as the genesis type of scheelite, with most of the ore-forming materials originating from the upper crust and a few derived from younger crustal sources. The Laoyingqing zinc deposit is located in the Pb-Zn deposit concentration district in northeastern Yunnan, with a geotectonic location on the southwestern edge of the Yangtze block. This deposit occurs in the interlayer fracture zone of the Huangcaoling Formation slate in the Middle Proterozoic Kunyang Group. In this deposit, zinc is significantly enriched compared to lead, and the sulfur isotopic composition of sphalerite shows δ34SCDT close to negative values. These characteristics are different from the common Pb-Zn deposits that occur in Sinian and Carboniferous carbonate rocks in northeastern Yunnan. The genesis of this deposit and its similarities to and differences from other Pb-Zn deposits hosted in carbonate rocks in the Sichuan–Yunnan–Guizhou Pb-Zn metallogenic triangle area (SYGT) need further research. This article selects typical rock (ore) samples for fluid inclusion, trace element, and H–O isotope analyses. The results show that (1) the homogenization temperature of the fluid inclusions is 130~306.5 °C, the salinity is 7.17 wt%~20.67 wt% NaCleq, and the density of the ore-forming fluids is 0.86–1.07 g/cm3. Overall, these ore-forming fluids belong to medium–low-temperature, medium–low-salinity, and medium–low-density ore-forming fluids, and they have reducibility. The fluid pressure is 36.3~85.6 Mpa, and the mineralization depth is 1.34~3.17 km. (2) The ore-forming fluids mainly came from deep-source metamorphic water and basin brine containing organic matter. (3) The ore-forming materials mainly came from the surrounding rocks (Kunyang Group). (4) The trace element characteristics of this deposit are different from sedimentary-exhalative type, magmatic hydrothermal type, and skarn type of Pb-Zn deposits, and have little difference from MVT Pb-Zn deposits. Based on the comprehensive analysis, this deposit is classified as a medium–low-temperature hydrothermal vein-type zinc deposit unrelated to magmatic activity. This study extends the ore-bearing surrounding rocks of Pb-Zn deposits in the SYGT to the slate of the Kunyang Group, enriching the regional Pb-Zn deposit mineralization theory and providing new ideas for mineralization prediction. Diagenesis and pore structure are essential factors for reservoir evaluation. marine-continental transitional facies shale is a new shale gas reservoir of concern in the Sichuan Basin. The research on its diagenesis pore evolution model has important guiding significance in its later exploration and development. However, the current research on pore structure changes, diagenesis, and the evolution of marine-continental transitional facies shale is not sufficient and systematic. In order to reveal the internal relationship between pore structure changes and diagenesis, the evolution of marine-continental transitional facies shale was tested by X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, low-pressure gas adsorption, nuclear magnetic resonance, and the diagenetic evolution sequence and nanopore system evolution of Longtan Formation shale was systematically studied. The results show that the Longtan Formation shale underwent short-term shallow after sedimentation, followed by long-term deep burial. The main diagenetic mechanisms of the Longtan Formation shale include compaction, dissolution, cementation, thermal maturation of organic matter, and transformation of clay minerals, which are generally in the middle-late diagenetic stage. The pore structure undergoes significant changes with increasing maturity, with the pore volumes of both micropores and mesopores reaching their minimum values at Ro = 1.43% and subsequently increasing. The change process of a specific surface area is similar to that of pore volumes. Finally, the diagenetic pore evolution model of Longtan Formation MCFS in Southeastern Sichuan was established. The shale reservoirs of the Lower Cambrian Qiongzhusi Formation are widely distributed in the Sichuan Basin and have abundant gas resources. However, the shale lithofacies of the Qiongzhusi Formation are complex due to frequent sea level changes. The reservoir pore structure characteristics and gas content of different shale lithofacies vary significantly, which makes identifying the 'sweet spot' a challenging task. In this study, core observation and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to analyze the lithofacies types and characteristics of the study area. The pore types of different shale lithofacies were observed using field emission-scanning electron microscopy. Pore structures were studied using low-temperature gas (including N2 and CO2) physisorption, and the pore volume (PV), specific surface area (SSA) and pore structure were systematically characterized. The primary factors influencing pore formation in different types of shale lithofacies were analyzed by combining geochemical experiments and mineral contents. The results indicate that the lithofacies of the Qiongzhusi Formation shale in the study area can be classified into five categories according to mineral compositions: Siliceous argillaceous shale (CM-1), Argillaceous siliceous mixed shale (M-2), Argillaceous siliceous shale (S-3), Siliceous rock (S) and Calcareous siliceous shale (S-2). Pores are abundant in S-3 shale, M-2 shale and CM-1 shale. The S-3 shale is more enriched in organic pores and clay mineral pores compared to other lithofacies shales, and the pore morphology is mainly wedge-shaped and plate-like. M-2 shale and CM-1 shale are rich in clay minerals and mainly develop clay mineral pores and are mainly wedge-shaped and plate-like. The S shale and S-2 shale mainly develop interparticle pores and clay mineral pores, which are mainly slit-like. The results show that TOC, pyrite content, quartz and feldspar mineral content, clay mineral type and content affect the pore structure in the study area. Quartz and feldspar content have a negative effect on micropore and mesopore volumes. TOCs have a weak positive correlation with micropore volume and micropore SSA. Clay mineral content has significant positive effects on the PV and SSA of micropores and mesopores, indicating that clay mineral content is the main factor affecting the pore structure of shale. The interaction between shale and various fluids is crucial as it modifies pore structures, which govern the effective development of shale gas and the geological storage of carbon dioxide in shale formations. In this study, samples from the Longmaxi Formation shale in Sichuan Basin of China were exposed to different fluids, including 6 MPa CO2, 12 MPa CO2, 6 MPa CO2+brine, and 12 MPa CO2+brine, at 45 °C for 100 days. Various methods, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and the low-pressure gas adsorption (N2) test, were adopted to evaluate chemical and structural changes during the exposure process. After being treated with supercritical CO2+brine and subcritical CO2+brine, the shale underwent significant changes in its major element composition. The content of Ca, Al, and K in shale saturated with supercritical CO2+brine decreased from 13.00% to 10.34%, from 3.65% to 3.36%, and from 1.56% to 1.37%, respectively. Meanwhile, the content of Si and Na in the same shale increased slightly after saturation. The amount of quartz and dolomite increased, while the levels of clay and calcite slightly decreased. The surface of the shale sample became rougher and small bumps and cracks appeared after saturation with different fluids, as shown by the FESEM analysis results. Furthermore, the changes in both the total pore volume and pore size followed a similar pattern to the alterations in the specific surface areas. The highest level of variation occurred with the shale that was saturated with 12 MPa of CO2, indicating that gas pressure and CO2 phase state have a significant influence on the shale's pore structure. In addition, the distribution of pore sizes showed a bias towards larger sizes across all diameters; this suggests that the reaction resulted in a decrease in the number of micropores. This also highlights that the impact of varying fluid saturation was primarily focused on micropores and macropores. The quality of hydrocarbon source rocks is affected by the sedimentary paleoenvironment. A paleoenvironment with anoxia and a high paleoproductivity is beneficial to source rocks. The paleoenvironment of the Lower Ordovician Meitan Formation of the Sichuan Basin and its adjacent areas is lacking, restricting the oil and gas exploration of the Ordovician in the Sichuan Basin and its adjacent areas. In this paper, the content of major and trace elements of 50 samples was tested to clarify the paleoenvironment of the Meitan Formation. The paleoclimate, paleosalinity, paleoredox, and paleoproductivity during the deposition of the Meitan Formation were analyzed. The control effect of the paleoenvironment on the development of source rocks was clarified, and the favorable paleoenvironment for source rock development was pointed out. The results show that the paleoenvironment of the Meitan Formation has the following characteristics: humidity, brackish water, oxygen depletion, anoxia environment, and high paleoproductivity. These characteristics are conducive to the development of poor and moderate source rocks. The source rocks of the Meitan Formation were developed in the north, west, and south of the Sichuan Basin and its adjacent areas. The organic matter of the source rocks is mainly typed II1 kerogen, and the quality is evaluated as poor-medium source rocks having the potential of generating oil and gas. The microscopic pore throat structure of shale reservoir rocks directly affects the reservoir seepage capacity. The occurrence and flow channels of shale gas are mainly micron–nanometer pore throats. Therefore, to clarify the microstructural characteristics and influencing factors of the deep organic-rich shales, a study is conducted on the marine shale from the Upper Silurian to Lower Ordovician Wufeng–Longmaxi Formation in the southern Sichuan Basin. Petrographic lithofacies division is carried out in combination with petro-mineralogical characteristics, and a high-resolution scanning electron microscope, low-temperature nitrogen and low-temperature carbon dioxide adsorption, and micron-computed tomography are used to characterize the mineral composition and pore structure qualitatively and quantitatively, upon which the influencing factors of the microstructure are further analyzed. The results show that with the increase in burial depth, the total organic carbon content and siliceous mineral content decrease in the Wufeng formation to Long-11 subsection deep shale, while clay mineral content increases, which corresponds to the change in sedimentary environment from anoxic to oxidizing environment. Unexpectedly, the total pore volume of deep shale does not decrease with the increase in burial depth but increases first and then decreases. Using total organic carbon (TOC), siliceous mineral content showed a good correlation with total pore volume and specific surface area, with correlation coefficients greater than 0.7, confirming the predominant role of these two factors in controlling the pore structure of deep shales. This is mainly because the Longmaxi shale is already in the late diagenetic stage, and organic matter pores are generated in large quantities. Clay minerals have a negative correlation with the total pore volume of shale, and the correlation coefficient is 0.7591. It could be that clay minerals are much more flexible and are easily deformed to block the pores under compaction. In addition, the longitudinal heterogeneity of the deep shale reservoir structure in southern Sichuan is also controlled by the thermal effect of the Emei mantle plume on hydrocarbon generation of organic matter and the development of natural microfractures promoted by multistage tectonic movement. Overall, the complex microstructure in the deep shales of the Longmaxi Formation in the southern Sichuan Basin is jointly controlled by multiple effects, and the results of this research provide strong support for the benefit development of deep shale gas in southern Sichuan Basin. The Middle Permian Maokou Formation in the Sichuan Basin has huge resources and is an important target for natural gas exploration. In recent years, significant exploration breakthroughs have been made in the dolomite field of member Mao-2 in central Sichuan, and the gas production of several wells has exceeded 1 × 106 m3/d, indicating promising prospects for exploration. However, the origin of the dolomite reservoir in member Mao-2 remains ambiguous, which restricts the accurate prediction of favorable reservoirs. This study focuses on drilling in the Hechuan area as its research object, by using a detailed description of the cores from member Mao-2 of seven wells; samples were selected for tests of the degree of dolomite cation ordering, stable carbon and oxygen isotopic compositions, strontium isotopic composition, rare earth elements, LA-ICP-MS element mapping and U-Pb dating. It is clarified that: (1) The crystalline dolomite of member Mao-2 in the Hechuan area is the main reservoir rock, and the heterogeneous vugs and fractures are the main reservoir space. The dolomite in member Mao-2 has been characterized by a low degree of cation ordering value (avg. 0.59), with values of δ13C (avg. 3.87‰), δ18O (avg. −7.15‰) and 87Sr/86Sr (avg. 0.707474) having similar geochemical characteristics to Middle Permian seawater; the REEs normalized distribution patterns have similar characteristics to limestone; and the U-Pb age (261.0~262.0 Ma) corresponds to the age in the Capitanian stage of the Permian Guadalupian Series. (2) Petrological studies show that member Mao-2 has vertical karstification zonation characteristics; syngenetic karstification controls the formation of a large-scale fracture-cave system in the phreatic zone; the dolomitization of sediment in the fracture-cave system occurred during the penecontemporaneous period with locally restricted seawater. (3) The main controlling factors of the reservoir were syngenetic karstification, early dolomitization and hydrothermal dissolution related to Emei taphrogenesis. The research results are of great significance for dolomite reservoir prediction; the highlands of paleogeomorphology with syndepositional faults are favorable areas for dolomite reservoirs. The thick Upper Cambrian Xixiangchi dolostones, developed in the Sichuan Basin, are an important deep exploration target, but their genesis is still controversial, which hinders predicting the porous dolomite distribution and related potential hydrocarbon play. Herein, based on the observation and sampling of field outcrops, combined with a microscopic thin section analysis, cathodoluminescence analysis, and geochemical study, their characteristics and genesis were investigated. The results showed that there are mainly three types of dolomite that can be distinguished: (1) fine crystalline dolomite with a low crystallinity (Type 1); (2) granular dolomite with coarse grains, maintaining the original particle structure (Type 2); and (3) grain-texture relict dolomite with a higher degree of crystal form and obvious recrystallization (Type 3). The Type 1 dolomite with a common lamina structure and the highest 87Sr/86Sr ratio implies the most continental-influenced seawater in a supratidal environment around paleouplift, where there is an evaporation pump effect in its formation. The Type 2 dolomite recorded a slightly higher diagenesis temperature and slightly lower brine salinity, which would be formed in a seepage-reflux model in the beach environment of the platform. The lowest REY content and higher dolomite temperature with structural residuals indicate that the Type 3 dolomite is the result of further burial dolomitization during the diagenetic process. The relationship between the Late Ordovician–Early Silurian sedimentary system, weathering, paleoclimate, and primary productivity in the Yangzi region is not well understood. In this study, by analyzing the sedimentation cycle and major trace elements of the Youc well 2 in the southeast Sichuan Basin, the coupling relationships of weathering indicators, terrigenous debris input indicators, paleoclimate, redox condition indicators, U-Mo covariance model, Mo/TOC relationship, and paleoproductivity indicators are investigated. The results show that single-well logs delineate four third-order sedimentary sequences (SS1, SS2, SS3, and SS4), two sedimentary subfacies, and four sedimentary microfacies in the Wufeng Formation–Longmaxi Formation. The weathering degree is stronger at the bottom where the climate shifts from warm–wet to cold–dry, and the seawater is in an oxidic–anoxic–oxidic–anoxic environment. While the primary productivity and material source input decreases gradually in the middle and upper part, the climate becomes dry and cold, and the seawater is in an anoxic–oxidic environment. Thus, a rock enrichment model for the organic matter shale of the Wufeng Formation–Longmaxi Formation in southeast Sichuan has been established. Marine–continental transitional shale is one of the most promising targets for shale gas exploration in the Lower Yangtze region. To investigate the sedimentary environments and the regularity of the enrichment of the Longtan shale, multiple techniques including core and thin-section observations, geochemical and elemental analyses, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and low-pressure nitrogen adsorption (LPNA) were used to analyze the sedimentology, mineralogy, and pore structure of the Longtan shale. The core descriptions and thin-section observations showed that the Longtan shale was deposited in marine–delta transitional environments including delta-front, shore swamp, mixed tidal flat and shallow shelf environments. The Sr/Cu, V/Cr, CIA, EF (Mo), EF (U), and other major and trace element results indicated warm and moist climates and water-reducing conditions in the Longtan period. Both the climate and water conditions were favorable for organic matter production and preservation. The geochemical results showed that the Longtan shale was in the overmature stage (Ro values ranging from 2.4% to 3.57%) and that the average total organic carbon (TOC) content was 5.76%. The pore system of the Longtan shale consisted of inorganic pores with a small number of organic pores and microfractures. The porosity and specific surface area were mainly affected by the TOC and clay mineral contents. An effective combination of brittle mineral particles, organic matter, and clay minerals provided the necessary conditions for pore preservation. The organic pores, intergranular pores in clay minerals, and brittle mineral pores formed the main network system for the Longtan shale. As an unconventional oil and gas reservoir, the diagenesis and evolution of continental shale controls the formation and occurrence of inorganic and organic pores. In order to quantitatively characterize the pore characteristics of a continental shale reservoir and their influence on the evolution of the diagenesis stage, the characteristics of organic and inorganic pore types of continental shale in the Da'anzhai section of the lower Jurassic Ziliujing Formation were identified by means of X-ray diffraction mineral composition analysis and argon ion polishing scanning electron microscope measurements and observations, and the influence control of the diagenesis stage on the pore development of the continental shale reservoir and its control were clarified. The results show the following: ① The organic matter pores in continental shale are developed in large quantities, including organic matter pores in the mineral asphalt matrix and organic matter pores in the kerogen; the pore types of inorganic minerals are very rich, the main pore types are linear pores between clay minerals, intergranular (intergranular) pores, and intragranular corrosion pores, and microcracks are also developed. ② When affected by compaction diagenesis, the inorganic pores of continental shale decrease with an increase in the burial depth and diagenesis degree. ③ The burial depth of continental shale is 2000–3000 m in the middle of diagenetic stage A, and a large number of organic matter pores and dissolved inorganic pores develop at this depth, meaning that the total porosity of shale increases significantly. The burial depth of continental shale is 3000–4000 m at diagenetic stage B, where kaolinite and other clay minerals are dehydrated and converted into illite, the brittleness of shale is increased, and the interior of the shale is subject to external stress, causing microcracks to form. In the late diagenetic stage, when the buried depth of the continental shale is more than 4000 m, the organic matter is subject to secondary cracking and hydrocarbon generation, the organic pores of shale increase in number again, and the inorganic pores decrease in number due to compaction. In conclusion, we found that the burial depth is the main control factor for the development of pores and microfractures in continental shale reservoirs; diagenesis caused by burial depth is the main factor affecting the development of pores and microfractures in continental shale reservoirs; and the shale burial depth in this case is more than 3500 m, which is in the middle of diagenetic stage B. Inorganic porosity in shale is reduced, and the number of microfractures is increased. When the shale is buried more than 4000 m deep in the late diagenetic stage, the thermal evolution of organic matter in shale is high, and methane gas is generated in large quantities, which is conducive to the formation and development of organic matter pores in continental shale. The Fule deposit is a typical Cd-, Ge- and Ga-enriched Pb-Zn deposit located in the southeast of the Sichuan–Yunnan–Guizhou Pb-Zn polymetallic ore province in China. Zoned, euhedral cubic and pentagonal dodecahedral and anhedral pyrites were observed, and they are thought to comprise two generations. First generation pyrite (Py1) is homogeneous and entirely confined to a crystal core, whereas second generation pyrite (Py2) forms bright and irregular rims around the former. Second generation pyrite also occurs as a cubic and pentagonal dodecahedral crystal in/near the ore body or as an anhedral crystal generally closed to the surrounding rock. The content of S, Fe, Co, and Ni in Py1 are from 52.49 to 53.40%, 41.91 to 44.85%, 0.19 to 0.50% and 0.76 to 1.55%, respectively. The values of Co/Ni, Cu/Ni and Zn/Ni are from 0.22 to 0.42, 0.02 to 0.08 and 0.43 to 1.49, respectively, showing that the Py1 was formed in the sedimentary diagenetic stage. However, the contents of S, Fe, Co, and Ni in Py2 are in the range from 51.67 to 54.60%, 45.01 to 46.52%, 0.03 to 0.07% and 0.01 to 0.16%, respectively. The Co/Ni, Cu/Ni and Zn/Ni values of Py2 are from 0.40 to 12.33, 0.14 to 13.70 and 0.04 to 74.75, respectively, which is characterized by hydrothermal pyrite (mineralization stage). The different δ34S values of the Py1 (−34.9 to −32.3‰) and the Py2 (9.7 to 20.5‰) indicate that there are at least two different sources of sulfur in the Fule deposit. The sulfur in Py1 was derived from the bacterial sulfate reduction (BSR), whereas the sulfur in the ore-forming fluids (Py2) was derived from the thermochemical sulfate reduction (TSR). There are many celestine deposits and mineralization points in the Huayingshan ore district which form the largest strontium resource base in China. Among these celestine deposits, the Yuxia and Xinglong are two of the larger deposits. Previous studies have displayed different views on the genesis of the celestine deposit in the Huayingshan ore district. In this study, we conducted field obversions, geochemistry, and fluid inclusion studies to investigate the sources of ore-forming matters and the metallogenic mechanism of the celestine deposit. Four types of fluid inclusion (FI), namely PL (pure liquid FI), PV (pure vapor FI), L-V (liquid-vapor two-phase FI), and L-V-S (liquid-vapor-solid three-phase FI) have been identified in celestine from different types of ore in the Xishan anticline. The ore-forming fluids belong to the NaCl-H2 O system with moderate to low temperature (190–220 °C) and moderate salinity (5–9 wt%, NaCl equiv.). Different types of ores were formed by the same period of hydrothermal activity, which is supported by the results of the microthermometer study. Geological, thermometric data, and published hydrogen and oxygen isotope results indicate that the hot brines associated with mineralization mainly originated from meteoric water and some of diagenetic fluid. The Sr (87Sr/86Sr = 0.7076–0.7078) and S (δ34S = 36.4–39.0) isotope values of celestine are consistent with those of the Jialingjiang Formation, indicating that ore metals in hot brines were predominantly derived from that formation. In situ analysis of celestine shows that there is a strong negative correlation between Sr and CaO (R2 = 0.95) and combined with mineralogical and isotope geochemical evidence, we concluded that the precipitation mechanism of celestine is the replacement of gypsum with Sr-rich hot brines. Based on the above research and the classification of celestine deposit type, we classified the celestine deposits in Huayingshan as being of hydrothermal type. The formation of celestine deposits can be divided into three periods: (1) evaporation period, forming the source bed; (2) hydrothermal activity period, forming celestine by replacement of gypsum with Sr-rich hot brines; (3) supergene period, where meteoric water dissolves orebodies and strontianization occurs. This study investigates the provenance and tectonic background of the lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation black shale of the Yanyuan Basin in the western Kangdian ancient land and provides guidance for shale gas exploration and development in the area. The mineral petrological and geochemical characteristics of the Longmaxi Formation black shale in this area have been studied in detail. The study area is mainly a passive continental margin environment, but also has the attributes of an active continental margin and island arc environment due to the collision between the western oceanic crust and the Yangtze continental crust. The source rocks are mainly felsic igneous rocks, with a small contribution of intermediate–basic rocks. It is inferred that the Kangdian ancient land in the eastern part of the area could be the main provenance area, but with the contribution of sediments derived from oceanic island arc located in the west. During the whole Longmaxi period, the tectonic movement was intense, the climate was cold, the degree of chemical weathering was low, and it was a highly volatile geological sedimentary basin. The Mayuan Zn-Pb deposit on the northern margin of the Sichuan Basin is rich in Zn-Pb deposit resources. Additionally, a large amount of bitumen is observed in outcrops, and these deposits represent a key template for exploring the migration of hydrocarbon fluids and metal elements within an ancient oil reservoir. In this study, a chemical experimental method was used to extract the adsorbed hydrocarbon from the chosen five groups of samples, and mathematical statistical methods were also used. The varied metal concentrations before and after the extraction experiments have been noticed, due to the direct carrying action of the adsorbed hydrocarbon. In addition, a strong correlation was observed between the Mayuan Zn-Pb deposit and their source rocks, as well as the same distribution trend from the rare earth element distribution curve. A moderate correlation was observed between the two groups of black shales and Mayuan Zn-Pb ores, and the rare earth partition curve showed consistent trends. The results show that organic matter exists in two forms, among which hydrocarbon organic matter is extracted due to the carrying effect of extraction experiment, and the remaining non-hydrocarbon organic matter is combined with metal elements to form a metal complex. Hydrocarbons are involved in mineralization, asphaltenes are derived from bitumen, and one of the potential sources of Pb/Zn in the Mississippi Valley type (MVT) Zn-Pb deposit is black shale rich in organic matter. Both complete and uncompleted radiolarian siliceous shells were developed at Wufeng-Longmaxi radiolarian siliceous shale laminae in Sichuan Basin. Micro- and ultra-micropetrological observation suggests that they were successively filled by calcite, pyrite and organic–silicon complex, where pyrite and organic–silicon complex filled dissolved pores associated with calcite during sedimentation. Calcite was derived from calcium carbonate produced by microbial activities at the seawater surface. The environment of radiolarian siliceous shell cavities, which was suitable for sulfate reducing bacterial growth or dissolved hydrogen sulfide reducing Fe3+, contributed positively to pyrite development. Organic–silicon complex development was related to microorganism metabolism that was an important silica source. Honeycomb-like organic pores were developed in cavities with complete shells, but were not developed in cavities with uncompleted shells. This is because the latter could not withstand overburden pressure compared with the former. The only approach to figure out organic pore carriers and understand sequences and development processes of minerals and organic matter is to select weakly compacted radiolarian siliceous shale laminae to carry out micro- and ultra-micropetrological observation and geochemical testing via various technologies. In recent years, the shale gas in the southern Sichuan Basin has achieved great commercial development, and the Silurian Longmaxi Formation is the main development stratum. In order to solve the problems of great difference production and inaccurate gas content of the Longmaxi Formation shale gas field in the southern Sichuan Basin, based on thin section identification, argon ion polishing-field emission scanning electron microscopy, high pressure mercury injection, low temperature nitrogen adsorption and the fractal method, the micropore structural heterogeneity of the siliceous shale reservoir of the Longmaxi Formation has been studied. The results show the following: The pores of siliceous shale are mainly intergranular pores and organic pores. Image analysis shows that there are obvious differences in size and distribution of shale pores among different types. The micropore structural heterogeneity is as follows: intragranular pore > intergranular pore > organic pore. In the paper, the combination of low temperature nitrogen adsorption method and high-pressure mercury injection method is proposed to characterize the micropore size distribution and fractal dimension, which ensures the credibility of pore heterogeneity. The shale pores are mainly composed of mesopores (2–20 nm), followed by macropores (100–300 nm). For different pore sizes, the fractal dimension from large to small is mesopore, micropore and macropore. Shale pore structure and fractal dimension are correlated with mineral composition and total organic carbon (TOC) content, but the correlation is significantly different in different areas, being mainly controlled by the sedimentary environment and diagenesis. The Mississippi Valley-type (MVT) Pb-Zn deposits and hydrocarbon reservoirs coexist around the margin of the eastern Sichuan basin. This study examined the fluid inclusions, Sr isotope and systematic Rb-Sr, Sm-Nd geochronology for the distinct ore and gangue minerals of four orebodies from two MVT Pb-Zn deposits in the margin of the eastern Sichuan basin, combined with the existing research foundation of oil and gas accumulation and evolution, which was designed to understand the internal relationship between oil and gas accumulation and the involvement of organic matter in metal mineralization. High-density methane, moderate temperature, and salinity inclusions were discovered in the studied MVT Pb-Zn deposits, combined with relatively higher 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.71088~0.714749), indicating that the ore-forming fluids were derived largely from the hydrocarbon associated basinal brines. Rb-Sr isochron of paragenetic sphalerites and pyrites and Sm-Nd isochron of paragenetic fluorites and calcite from the studied MVT Pb-Zn deposits define isochron ages of 144.5 Ma~138.5 Ma, and 147.6 Ma, respectively, indicating that the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous Yanshanian orogeny was an important metallogenic event in the margin of the eastern Sichuan basin. The close temporal and spatial relationship between the MVT mineralization and hydrocarbon accumulation and destruction in the strong structural deformation area of the margin of the eastern Sichuan basin allows us to propose a possible model in which the Yanshanian compressional tectonics drove a large-scale flow of metal- and sulfate- bearing basinal fluids passed under or through methane-bearing carbonate reservoirs, resulting in the MVT mineralization and hydrocarbon accumulation and destruction. The Middle-Upper Cambrian Xixiangchi Formation in the Sichuan Basin is regarded as an important reservoir with great potential for hydrocarbon exploration. It is previously indicated that the Xixiangchi carbonates have experienced extensive dolomitization, however, the origin of dolomitizing fluids and the dolomitization mechanism still remain uncertain. In this study, a set of petrographic and geochemical examinations, including rare earth elements (REE) and isotopic (C, O, and Sr) compositions were used to trace the origins of dolomitizing fluids and associated diagenetic processes. The petrographic examination revealed three types of matrix dolomites (D1, D2, D3) and one cement saddle dolomite (SD). These phases have crystal size ranges of less than 30 μm (very fine to fine crystals, D1), 30–100 μm (fine to medium crystals, D2), 100–300 μm (medium to coarsely crystalline dolomite, D3), and 0.3–4 mm (fracture filling cements, SD), respectively. D1 is characterized by non to very weak luminescence, weakly negative Ce anomalies (Ce/Ce* = 0.84 ± 0.02), strongly negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.65 ± 0.03), and high 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.71062 ± 0.00122). In combination with δ13C (−1.5‰ ± 0.2‰) and δ18O (−9.7‰ ± 0.5‰) compositions, D1 is interpreted to be formed by penecontemporaneous dolomitization in the near-surface environment with seawater as the dolomitizing fluid. In contrast, D2 is characterized by intercrystalline pores, dirty crystal surfaces, similar δ13C (−1.4‰ ± 0.4‰) compositions but higher δ18O (−8.9‰ ± 0.7‰) compositions, and lower 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.70992 ± 0.00035), similar Ce anomalies (Ce/Ce* = 0.87 ± 0.04) and higher Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.85 ± 0.04). The coarser D2 is regarded to be formed by the post-penecontemporaneous seepage-reflux dolomitization or by recrystallization of D1 dolomite in a near-surface or shallow burial environment. D3 is distinguished by a cloudy core with clear rims, showing slightly higher Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.88 ± 0.02) and similar Ce anomalies (Ce/Ce* = 0.88 ± 0.02) than those of D1 and D2. Combined with the δ18O compositions (−10.4‰ ± 0.4‰) and 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.70989 ± 0.00048), D3 is thought to be formed by the overgrowth or recrystallization of D1 and D2 dolomites in a shallow to moderate burial environment. The fractures filling SD dolomite consists of nonplanar and much coarser crystals with undulatory extinctions and brighter red luminescence. The lower δ18O (−11.1‰ ± 0.3‰) compositions, lower negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.70 ± 0.01) of SD than the matrix dolomites, and similar Ce anomalies (Ce/Ce* = 0.83 ± 0.01) are indicative of hydrothermal dolomitization, with possible fluids associated with the magma during the period of Emei taphrogenic movement. In addition, the 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.70941 ± 0.00003) of SD suggest probable origin from the coeval seawater partially. Therefore, SD dolomite is interpreted to be formed by hydrothermal dolomitization with mixed dolomitizing fluid of seawater and hydrothermal fluids. In summary, all the matrix dolomites have almost the same ΣREE concentrations and exhibit similar near-flat REE partition patterns with weak LREE enrichments, weakly negative Ce anomalies, and negative Eu anomalies. Such characteristics of REE compositions are indicative of similar evolved dolomitizing fluid, such as seawater or seawater- derived fluids. By contrast, SD dolomites have a different REE partition pattern with left-leaning characteristics, LREE depletions, and negative Eu anomalies, thus suggesting a different dolomitizing fluid source from the matrix dolomites. In addition, the development of intercrystalline pores associated with D2 dolomite makes it more likely to be a potential reservoir, indicating that the dolomitizing history of carbonate has a strong influence on the quality of potential dolomite reservoirs. The marine shale of the Upper Ordovician Wufeng Formation–Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation is the main source rock and the target of shale gas exploration in the southern Sichuan Basin. The maturity of organic matter (OM) is a vital indicator for source rock evaluation. Due to the lack of vitrinite, the organic matter maturity of the Wufeng–Longmaxi Formations in the southern Sichuan Basin is difficult to accurately evaluate. In total, 33 core samples of the Wufeng–Longmaxi Formations in the southern Sichuan Basin were selected to observe the optical characteristics of solid bitumen and graptolites and measure their random reflectance. Simultaneously, Raman spectroscopic parameters of kerogen were also used to quantitatively analyze the change in maturity. By using Raman spectroscopic parameters as mediators, conversion equations between graptolite random reflectance (GRor) and equivalent vitrinite reflectance (EqVRo) were established. Taking the calculation results of EqVRo as constraints, the tectono-thermal evolution history of Wufeng–Longmaxi Shale in the southern Sichuan Basin is constructed through basin modelling. The results show that the maturity of Wufeng–Longmaxi Shale in the western Changning, Luzhou-western Chongqing, eastern Changning and Weiyuan areas decreases successively. The EqVRo falls in the ranges of 3.61%~3.91%, 2.92%~3.57%, 3.08%~3.25%, 2.41%~3.12%, and the average EqVRo is 3.73%, 3.30%, 3.18% and 2.80%, respectively. Thermal evolution in western Changning was controlled by the thermal effect of the Emeishan mantle plume and paleo-burial depth, while the thermal evolution of other areas was mainly controlled by paleo-burial depth. This study provides a reliable parameter for the evaluation of thermal maturity and makes a more accurate calibration of the maturity of the Wufeng–Longmaxi Formations in the southern Sichuan Basin; it also expounds the factors for the differences in thermal evolution in different parts of the area. Natural fractures caused by tectonic stress in shale can not only improve the seepage capacity of shale, but also become the migration and loss channel of free gas. Calcite, quartz and other minerals in shale fracture veins record the fluid evolution information of the shale. Through the analysis of different types of fracture cements in the shale of the Silurian–Ordovician Wufeng–Longmaxi Formations in the southern Sichuan Basin, the effect of different fractures on shale gas construction or destruction was clarified. Geochemical investigations included the diagenetic mineral sequences in the hole–cavity veins, paleo-pressure recovery by Raman quantitative analysis, and the environments of diagenetic fluids traced by rare earth elements (REE) signatures. The density, composition, pressure, and temperature properties of CH4-bearing fluid inclusions were determined by Raman quantitative measurement and thermodynamic simulations to establish the trapping condition of the geo-fluids, and so constrain the periods of gas accumulation. The diagenetic sequences in the fracture veins can be summarized as follows: Cal-I→Qz-II→Cal-III. The Cal-I in the bedding fracture veins crystallized in the late Jurassic (~180 Ma), and originated from hydrothermal origin and diagenetic fluid; the Qz-II veins crystallized in the middle Jurassic (~190 Ma); the Cal-III veins in the high-angle fractures precipitated during the early Eocene (~12 Ma), and derived from atmospheric freshwater leaching. Pore fluid pressure gradually increased. The pressure coefficient of the shale gas reservoir gradually increased to strong overpressure from 160 Ma to 86 Ma. Between 75 Ma and the present day, the pore fluid pressure and the pressure coefficient in the shale reservoirs, having been affected by tectonic activities and strata uplift-erosion, have significantly reduced. Bedding slippage fractures play a constructive role in the enrichment of shale gas, and fracture slip can significantly improve fracture permeability. High-angle shear fractures usually cut through different strata in areas with strong tectonic activity, and destroy the sealing of the shale. The entrapment of primary methane gas inclusions recorded the process of excess reservoir pressure reduction, and indicated the partial loss of shale free gas. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Permian igneous rocks in the Sichuan Basin represent a major breakthrough, opening up a new prospect for oil and gas exploration, and igneous reservoirs have become a new field of oil and gas exploration. Gravity-magnetic-electric exploration is an effective means of identifying igneous rocks and helps in reducing the multiplicity of the prediction results. However, the lithology of igneous rocks is quite different, and the exploration theory and evaluation techniques need urgently to be improved. In order to deeply study the response characteristics of the gravity-magnetic-electric and physical properties of the Permian igneous rocks in the Sichuan Basin and their relationships with the reservoir parameters, physical property testing was carried out on outcrop samples of the Permian igneous rocks in southwestern Sichuan. The comprehensive physical properties of the samples with different lithologies, including basalt, tuff, and volcanic breccia, were analyzed and studied. Based on the geological characteristics of the igneous rocks, such as the mineral composition, microstructure, and reservoir properties, a multi-parameter intersection relationship model for the resistivity, polarizability, density, magnetic susceptibility, and their relationships with the reservoir parameters was established, and effective parameters favorable for igneous rock identification and reservoir evaluation were identified. Thermochemical sulfate reduction (TSR) commonly occurred in the dolostone reservoirs of the Upper Permian Changxing Formation (P3c) in the Yuanba (YB) gas field, Sichuan Basin, yet controversy remains regarding the source of sulfate required for TSR. To trace the source of the sulfate, sulfur and strontium isotopic compositions were measured for three diagenetic celestite (SrSO4) samples found in the P3c dolostone reservoirs in the YB gas field. In addition, the sulfur isotopic compositions of Carbonate-associated sulfates (CAS) from the P3c carbonates and spheroidal pyrites in dolomicrites from the P/T boundary (PTB) in the YB gas field were measured for comparative studies. The results show that the sulfur isotopic compositions of celestites are significantly heavier than those of the contemporaneous seawater, and these celestites have strontium isotopic values consistent with those of the host dolostones and contemporaneous seawater. The −33.68‰ fractionation in average δ34S values between pyrites and celestites indicated that their formation was likely to be related to bacterial sulfate reduction (BSR). During the P/T extinction event that accompanied the end-Permian regression, the reflux of brine directly precipitated 34S-rich celestites in the fractures and vugs of the dolostone reservoirs due to the BSR and the evaporation of seawater. Multistage fluid activities and hydrocarbon accumulation processes have occurred in the Dengying Formation of the Sichuan Basin during its long geological history. Petrography and cathodoluminescence observations; in situ microanalysis of rare earth elements, carbon, oxygen, and strontium isotopes; fluid inclusion microthermometric experiments; laser Raman experiments; burial history; thermal history; and hydrocarbon generation history simulation have been applied to study the characteristics of vein-forming fluid in the Dengying Formation reservoirs in the southeast and southwest of Sichuan Basin and to analyze in-depth the multistage fluid activity and hydrocarbon accumulation process. The results show that two stages of dolomite and one stage of quartz are developed in the 4th member of the Dengying Formation in the southeast of Sichuan Basin, and three stages of dolomite are developed in the 2nd member of the Dengying Formation in the southwest of Sichuan Basin. The source of the dolomite veins is mainly reservoir marine diagenetic fluid. Dolomites developed in the Hercynian period were affected by hydrothermal activity to a certain extent which may have been caused by the activity of the Emei mantle plume. The diagenetic mineral sequence of the 4th member of the Dengying Formation in the southeast of Sichuan Basin is quartz (432 Ma)/dolomite I (421 Ma)/dolomite II (288 Ma), and the 2nd member of the Dengying Formation in the southwest of the Sichuan Basin is dolomite I (425 Ma)/dolomite II (283 Ma)/dolomite III (262 Ma). The main hydrocarbon accumulation period was during the Hercynian–Indosinian stage which was related to the thermal influence of the Emei mantle plume activity on the source rock of the Qiongzhusi Formation. Combined with petrography, inclusion thermometry, burial history, and hydrocarbon generation history simulation, the fluid activity and hydrocarbon accumulation evolution sequence in the southeast and southwest of the Sichuan Basin are determined comprehensively. To study common failure characteristics of gateways, a total of 55 typical gateways at coal mines, in Sichuan Province, China, were selected for investigating the rules of broken widths based on the ground-penetrating radar (GPR) technique and numerical model. Results indicated that the broken width values around the gateways were larger than 1.5 m, and those in the roof and high side wall were larger than those in the low side wall, as a whole. The width values had close relationships with the thickness of the coal seam and immediate roof, angle of the coal seam, and depth of the gateways. Furthermore, combined with the plastic zone of numerical models in 3-Dimensional Distinct Element Code (3DEC) and the broken width, we obtained the excavation broken zone (EBZ) cross-section diagram for each gateway and determined that the EBZ appeared to have a basically elliptical shape—with the long axis along the seam inclination direction and the short axis along the vertical direction of the rock layer—and that this elliptical shape was only slightly affected by the gateway cross-section shape. It was observed that the failure extent was greater in the seam inclination direction than in the vertical direction of the rock layer. Obviously, the gateways presented asymmetric failure characteristics and implied that an asymmetric support system should be provided when using bolts, cables, and shotcrete combined with steel mesh and steel belts. Such a support system could improve material parameters and form a combined arch structure in surrounding rocks, with arch crown and arch springing thicknesses that are larger in the roof and high side wall. The Jiajika rare-metal deposit located in western Sichuan Province (China) is renowned as the largest lithium deposit in Asia, and the No. 134 pegmatite dike is the largest lithium pegmatite under mining conditions in the area. On the basis of a detailed characterization of textures and minerals in the Jiajika No. 134 pegmatite, two zones (the barren Zone I and the spodumene Zone II) and three subzones (Zone II was subdivided into microcrystalline, medium-fine grained and coarse-grained spodumene zones) have been identified. The detailed mineralogical characteristics of lithium minerals and other indicator minerals from each zone were evaluated by EPMA for illustrating the magmatic–hydrothermal evolution and the cooling path of the Jiajika No. 134 pegmatite. From the outer zone inwards, grain size gradually increased, the typical graphic pegmatite zone was absent, and spodumene randomly crystallized throughout nearly the whole pegmatite body. This evidence indicated a Li-saturated melt prior to pegmatite crystallization, which could be the main cause of the super-large-scale Li mineralization of the Jiajika No. 134 pegmatite. A comparison of the Cs content between primary beryl in the Jiajika No. 134 pegmatite and other important Li-Cs-Ta pegmatites in the world indicates that No. 134 pegmatite shows a high degree of fractional crystallization. The evolution of mica species from muscovite to Li-micas from Zone I to Zone II marks the transition from the magmatic to the hydrothermal stage in pegmatite evolution. The absence of individual lepidolite and the relatively limited scale of alteration of spodumene (<10 vol%) suggest that the activity of the hydrothermal fluids in the system is limited, which contributes to the preservation of the easily altered Li ores and is also an important controlling factor of the super-large-scale Li mineralization of the pegmatite. Spodumene–quartz intergrowth (SQI) usually occurs partly along the rims of the spodumene grains in the Jiajika No. 134 pegmatite. Combined with the pegmatite mineral equilibria, the results of fluid inclusion studies of the pegmatite and the metamorphic conditions in the area, a constrained P-T path of the magmatic–hydrothermal crystallization of the Jiajika No. 134 pegmatite is proposed. The unusual steeply sloped cooling path of the No. 134 pegmatite could be attributed to the fast pressure drop triggered by the intrusion of a pegmatitic melt along the fractures surrounding the Majingzi granite, which could also be the dominant evolution process for other spodumene pegmatites with similar SQI features in the world. The feature of limited internal geochemical fractionation suggested by mineral-scale geochemical analyses of spodumene and micas, combined with the clear textural zoning of the No. 134 pegmatite, can best be ascribed to the effect of undercooling during pegmatite formation. This effect might be one of the non-negligible rules of pegmatite petrogenesis, and would significantly upgrade the potential of Li mineralization by minimizing diffusional Li transfer to the country rocks. A number of wells in the Sichuan Basin of China have tested industrial gas flow pressure arising from the shale of the Da'anzhai section of the Ziliujing Formation, revealing good exploration potential. Microfractures in shales affect the enrichment and preservation of shale gas and are important storage spaces and seepage channels for gas. In order to increase productivity and to reduce the risks associated with shale gas exploration, the types, connectivity, and proportion of microfractures in the Da'anzhai Member have been studied in this work by core and thin section observations, micro-CT, scanning electron microscopy, nitrogen adsorption, and high-pressure mercury intrusion. The results show that four types of fractures have developed in the shale of the Da'anzhai section: microfractures caused by tectonic stress, diagenetic shrinkage fractures of clay minerals, marginal shrinkage fractures of organic matter, and microfractures inside mineral particles. Among these, structural fractures and organic matter contraction fractures are the main types and are significant for shale reservoirs and seepage. The structural microfractures are mainly opened and are well-developed in the shale, with a straight shape, mainly between bedding, with the fracture surface being curved, fully opened, and mainly tensile. Organic matter fractures often develop on the edge of the contact between organic matter and minerals, presenting a slit-like appearance. The fractures related to bedding in the shale are particularly developed, with larger openings, wider extensions, intersecting and expanding, and forming a three-dimensional interconnected pore-fracture system. Based on image recognition, generally speaking, microfractures account for about 20% of the total pore volume. However, the degree of the microfractures' development varies greatly, depending upon the structural environment, with the proportion of microfractures in fault-wrinkle belts and high-steep zones reaching 40% to 90% of the total pore space.
