The paper presents a quantitative and qualitative profile of Thrombosis research in India, based on 4026 publications indexed in Scopus database during 2000-19. Indian research output on Thrombosis registered 11.64% annual growth, averaged 13.54 citations per paper and contributed 2.26% global share (with 13th rank) and 14.13% share devoted to international collaborative papers. Thrombosis research applications across subjects were the largest in medicine (87.93%), followed for other subjects with contribution from 5.84% to 10.08%), etc. The distribution by type revealed that Venous Thrombosis accounted for the highest share (52.36% share), followed by Arterial Thrombosis (29.01% share), Limb ischemia (1.49%) and Hepatic artery thrombosis (0.72%) during 2000-19. AIIMS- New Delhi (374 papers) and PGIMER-Chandigarh (280 papers) lead the country as the most productive organizations. Besides, GMCH-Chandigarh (66.80 and 4.93) and Fortis Healthcare Limited (47.82 and 3.53) lead the country as the most impactful organizations in terms of citation per paper and relative citation index. K. Ghosh (61 papers) and R. Saxena (51 papers) lead the contry as most productive authors and K. Sarin (115.32 and 8.52) and D. Dash (44.29 and 3.27) lead as the most impactful authors. We analyse the results from a longitudinal natural field experiment that provides an environmental nudge by reinforcing positive environmental norms. Posters asking individuals to use less paper are pasted on printers (Times) and in office cubicles (Umendall) of two information technology firms around New Delhi, India. A third firm (India Mart) does not get the nudge and serves as our control. During the nudge period, employees of the firms that get the conservation message on average expend a significantly lower number of sheets per day as compared to the pre-nudge period, measured both in terms of paper used and paper wasted. Furthermore, after the nudge is removed, the per capita paper wastage for one of the firms that received it (Times) does not increase significantly over the next month and a half, whereas for the other firm (Umendall) it does but remains significantly lower than the per capita wastage in the pre-nudge period. In terms of total paper used, the nudged firms show a reduction in the number of sheets used several weeks after the nudge is removed. For the control firm, the wastage and usage of printer paper does not change significantly over the duration of the experiment. A robustness check with no nudge intervention done by computing per capita wastage and usage for the same dates exactly one year later does not show a reduction over the same time period and offers support for our conclusions. Background & objectives: Dried blood spotted on to filter paper has been found suitable for a large number of studies. In tropical countries with varying temperature conditions the use of dried blood needs to be validated. We carried out this study to assess the use of blood spotted filter paper as a transport system to study genotyping ofApo E gene. Methods: Fifty five patients visiting Cardiothoracic Neuroscience Centre (CNC) OPD at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and referred for lipid investigations to Cardiac Biochemistry Laboratory were selected at random. Blood was spotted on to Whatman 3 MM filter paper, dried and stored at room temperature. Genomic DNA was extracted and genotyping was carried out at the end of 0, 3 and 12 months. The study was further validated using samples collected on to filter paper from four centres and stored for eight years at room temperature. The temperature and humidity conditions of the centre varied widely. Results: Fifty five samples collected on to filter paper showed exact match of the genotyping when compared to fresh blood. In dried blood samples collected and stored for 1 yr at room temperature DNA extraction and apo E genotyping was done successfully. Interpretation & conclusions: The present results showed the feasibility of using dried blood samples on filter paper for apo E genotyping in tropical temperature. The total of 3,818 publications collected from the Web of Science database had their collected data measured using scientometric techniques. The search strategy TS=topic for black holes research was refined to 15 years, from 2008 to 2022, and only selected Indian research productivity. The collected data was measured from various angles and types of documents, with 97.590% articles and the highest annual growth rate of 23.664% in 2018. The most prolific author, Ajith Parameshwaran, from the Bangalore International Center for theoretical science, published 119 papers with 32,405 citations (61 h-index). The Journal of Physical Review is the most prolific, with 604 publications and 16,068 citations. The most frequent keyword occurrences are "black holes," with 435 reflected. The Department of Science and Technology in New Delhi is the most prolific, having published 664 papers with a total of 14,346 citations (58 h-index). The black research involved 80 countries, out of which India secured the 8th place in the world's contribution. This paper examines the planned externalisation of affordable workers housing under Delhi's ongoing extended urbanisation. Drawing upon recent literature on planned illegalities, subaltern urbanisation, and agro-urban transformations in India and specifically in the Delhi region, the paper proposes tenement towns as a relational settlement category to understand the planned externalisation of housing. It examines three manufacturing clusters spread over an extensive territory in the DMIC urban corridor running out of Delhi. Finding evidence for how the workers housing is externalised into spaces marked as 'rural outsides' in the masterplanning documents. It examines the role of parallel agrarian institutions and social structures in enabling the illegal growth of the tenement towns. Finally, the paper critically examines the role such settlements play in maintaining a permanently temporary surplus workforce crucial for cheap global manufacturing. Through introducing tenement towns as a relational category, the paper attempts to contribute towards a global housing studies that transcends space-time and north-south boundaries. This paper looks at two memorials built in India to commemorate Sikh victims of the violent events of June 1984 and November 1984. Gurdwara Yaadgaar Shaheedan (Gurdwara Martyrs' Memorial) was built in the Golden Temple complex, Amritsar in 2013, and the Wall of Truth: Sikh Genocide Memorial was inaugurated in Gurdwara Rakabganj, New Delhi in 2017. While both memorials commemorate related events and are built by the same group of people, they differ completely in the choice of nomenclature, design and even the justification given for their creation. The skies over central New Delhi in India were lit up by a spectacular display of over a thousand Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) on the 75th republic day celebration in January 2022. The usage of UAS or drones, as commonly referred to, has gained momentum worldwide, including in India, signifying its importance in the aviation ecosystem. The advancement of technology and large-scale investment has fast-tracked the proliferation of UAS in civil, commercial, and military domains. The government of India and national aviation regulators are continuously working to provide a concrete regulatory framework to support the growth of the UAS sector and minimize the risk emerging from the operation of UAS. A recent step towards the same was taken by passing Drone, Rules 2021. The UAS ecosystem is still in its initial stages of development with uncertainties in privacy, safety, data protection, and governance issues. This paper aims to provide an overview of the UAS regulations in India and their implications for the UAS ecosystem. Summary: Recommender systems have become a core part of the retail experience. Retailers often rely on recommender systems to help them drive more conversions through targeted communication and advertisements. However, recommender systems are not one size fits all. Specialized retailers require specialized recommender systems to consider various features, attributes, and dynamics about the product category. In this paper, we have proposed a novel fruit recommender system that generates dynamic recommendations while remediating the problem of data sparsity. We have developed a novel fruit recommender system that considers the temporal dynamics in the fruit market, like price fluctuations, fruit seasonality, and quality variations that occur throughout the year. To perform this task, we have used Recurrent Recommender Network (RRN), which uses the deep learning method Long Short‐Term Memory (LSTM) to implement the system model. To ensure that our work and results obtained are practical, we have worked in a real‐world setting, by tying up with a specialty fruit retailer based in New Delhi to get the real‐world Point‐of‐Sale (POS) data of consumers. After independence, early decades in the Indian capital city were marked by ceremonials, demonstrations and politico-religious addresses. The enthusiasm of the nascent state trying to forge a shared public sphere was dampened by voices of dissent from different opposition groups. These voices took the form of demonstrations and sit-ins in New Delhi, especially around the Parliament Street. Thus, challenging elected government's use of space for functional and ceremonial purposes through such acts. However, the government, in order to contain protesting publics, could not continue to deploy the measures of colonial crowd control, and had to come up with means suitable for its democratic setup. Over years these contestations regarding defining use of public spaces between state and public(s) resulted in the development of guidelines and defining of designated sites of protest. In this view, the purpose of this paper is to contribute toward understanding of New Delhi's space post-1947 and explain how certain demonstrations led to shaping of the government's approach regarding protest sites. The same will be done by bridging the gap between spatial and socio-cultural theorists to study the capital city beyond its architectural grandeur and theoretical claims about public space. Overall, the paper is organized into four parts: the first section explores the idea of public space in the national capital with focus on importance of the Parliament House; the second and third sections study specific sites like Boat Club, Ramlila Maidan and Jantar Mantar in association with protests like JP Movement; and the final part looks at the evolution of government guidelines and the emergence of contained protest sites. Purpose: The study was undertaken with a purpose of at source bioconversion of wet kitchen waste. To accelerate the "Zero Waste Concept" and meet the UN's Sustainable Development Goals 2015. Method: Wet waste was mixed with dry paper, cardboard material and a microbial culture was inoculated in the bag. Proper mixing of the material enhanced the process of composting. Results: Microgold-Y had a pH range of 6.7 to 7.0 with 45 to 58% moisture content, and suitable for plant growth. Germination test using radish (R. sativus) revealed 100% sprouting between 24 to 48 hrs on Microgold-Y (10%) followed with 93.3% on Microgold-Y (20%) as against 96.6% in sand (control), grown in small containers (5x6 cm) at 20.2 to 20.7° C and 58 to 65% RH. Besides, profuse growth and flowering was observed in B. monnieri on Microgold Y while poor growth without flowering in control. Safety evaluation on earthworm, E. fetida revealed the survival of 60% as compared to 95% in control (cow dung). The worms produced undersized cocoons (< 2 mm) on microgold as compared to control (2.7 to 3.7 mm) and interestingly regained their reproduction on pre-mature microgold. Conclusion: The yeast was identified as Pichia kudriavzevii determined by the specialists at ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi-12 based on NCBI Blast Result and FASTA Sequence. The pH and moisture content of the product (Microgold-Y) ranged from 6.7 to 7.0 and moisture ranged from 45 to 58 per cent, which are ideal attributes of good compost recommended for field applications. Our paper lays out an experiential account of walking the city, an otherwise mundane everyday act, as a performative action. The specific act of walking that this paper examines is part of a series of performance actions titled 'Women Walk at Midnight' (Delhi, 2016- present) where women collectively walk the streets of the city at night. Breaking from the conventional article format, our paper draws on reflexive feminist research and performance analysis to narrate the performative dimensions of walking that foreground how women collectively negotiate fear and vulnerability in/of the city. We draw on our own memories and experiences of walking - embodied, sensorial, even intuitive - not only as participants of the Midnight Walk but as women who often negotiate varied agressions of the city streets. The paper weaves an intricate pattern of relations between space, time and movement of female bodies in the city of New Delhi from a gendered perspective. We posit that transformations of urban atmosphere through the course of the day shape our experiences of the city, reproducing it as a gendered site. Relation of bodies to space, we argue, shifts in response to time. We are interested not only in the singular and deliberate actions carried out by individual walkers, but unpack the shared notions of risk, adventure and pleasure, experienced fleetingly and afforded only through the collective. The Shaheen Bagh protest in New Delhi highlighted the changing dynamics of Muslim women's participation in socio-political movements in India. This paper argues how Muslim women proved themselves to be concerned citizens while protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (2019) and other forms of social discrimination. The paper analyses the Shaheen Bagh protest from an intersectional perspective to understand how Muslim women voiced their political opinions negotiating with gender and religion-based discrimination; they had to fight the multiple forms of patriarchy of Indian society while protesting against hypermasculine Hindutva politics. Background: In recent years, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into various fields has led to transformative changes in research and practice. One such domain that has seen substantial impact is the medical field, where AI-powered tools like ChatGPT have emerged as potential alternatives to traditional methods for generating medical literature. This study presents a comprehensive comparative bibliometric analysis of medical literature generated by ChatGPT and traditional methods, aiming to uncover the emerging trends and potential shifts in the landscape. Materials and Methods: This study collects and analyzes a substantial corpus of articles, reviews, and papers generated by both ChatGPT and traditional methodologies. Bibliometric indicators such as publication frequency, citation counts, collaboration patterns, and keyword usage are examined to discern differences in output and impact. We extract data from Web of Science citation database and selected 18087 publications from the year 2019 to 2023 for our study. The data and descriptive analysis were categorised, collected one at a time, and imported into the Bibliometric R-package programme to produce science maps and statistical graphs. They were exported to MS-Excel for bibliometric analysis and VOSviewer software was used to analyse Co-Occurrence networks. Results and Discussion: A total of 18087 publications on ChatGPT and traditional methodologies from the year 2019 to 2023, namely 12519 (69.29%) original articles, 2836 (15%) reviews, 233 (01.2%) letters, and others. The most productive institution was found to be the Indian Institute of Technology System IIT System (n=1718, 0.09%), followed by National Institute of Technology NIT System (n=1275, 0.07%). the most productive author was found to be the Kumar, Atul, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi (n=421, 2.39%), followed by Kumar, Satish, Indian Institute of Management Nagpur (n=405, 2.24%). The most productive journal was found that the IEEE Acess (n=373, 2.063%, TC=6740, ACP=18.06) followed by Multimedia Tools and Applications (n=279, 1.543%, TC=1552, ACP=5.56). The most frequent of authors keywords and occurrences was found that the 'artificial intelligence' 1517 occurrences and 1898 total link strength followed by 'deep learning' 1156 occurrences and 1764 total link strength. Conclusions: This bibliometric analysis sheds light on the evolving landscape of medical literature production, comparing the outputs of ChatGPT and traditional methods. While ChatGPT shows promise in its ability to quickly generate content on cutting-edge topics, traditional methods maintain their dominance in terms of research depth and impact. The findings have implications for researchers, clinicians, and policymakers, suggesting potential ways to leverage both approaches for a more comprehensive and impactful medical research ecosystem. We present seismic microzonation maps of New Delhi, India, using the probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) method with input seismic activity parameters estimated in Part‐I of this two‐part paper. Our calculations required three different attenuation equations for amplitude scaling of strong ground motion from three principal contributing sources: the National Capital Region (NCR), Northwestern Himalaya (NWH), and the Hindu Kush subduction (HKS). We show that uniform hazard spectral (UHS) amplitudes are dominated only by the local seismicity in the NCR at high frequencies beyond about 2 Hz. For intermediate and long periods, UHS amplitudes are dominated by contributions from the NWH and HKS earthquakes. Our results show that specifying strong motion amplitudes for use in engineering design by means of peak ground acceleration can lead to serious errors for buildings higher than four to five stories and hence should not be used. Our results also show that the shape of design spectra must depend on the nature of contributing earthquake sources, their relative activity, potential to create large magnitudes, and geographical placement relative to the site of interest, and thus a standard design‐spectrum shape cannot satisfy all these requirements. We use local geological site condition parameters directly in all calculations and present hazard maps for three different soil site conditions ("rock," stiff soil sites, and deep soil sites). Thus, the user can extract the UHS amplitudes of pseudo relative velocity spectra at any site in the National Capital Territory by experimentally determining the local soil site conditions and then applying the corresponding maps shown in this paper. • This paper presents an efficient algorithm for classification of Epileptic Seizure from normal, inter-ictal, and seizure EEG signals. • A new classifier named EMRVFLN is proposed which is an improved version of both RVFLN and ELM. • Efficient features are extracted after pre-processing from the EEG signal using VMD and HT. • Also, this paper presents digital implementation of the proposed EMRVFLN classifier in FPGA environment. • Two real time datasets i.e. Bonn university dataset and Neurology & Sleep Centre, Hauz Khas, New Delhi are used to validate the proposed method. In this paper, variational mode decomposition (VMD), Hilbert transform (HT), and proposed error-minimized random vector functional link network (EMRVFLN) are integrated to detect and classify epileptic seizure from electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. VMD is applied to decompose the EEG signal into Band-limited intrinsic mode functions (BLIMFs). The five efficacious instantaneous features are computed using HT to construct the feature vector. Proposed EMRVFLN classifier is used to classify the epileptic seizure. The performances of the proposed EMRVFLN are compared with recently developed classifiers such as least-square support vector machine (LSSVM) and extreme learning machine (ELM). The combination of VMD and HT with proposed EMRVFLN classifier outperforms other state-of-the-art methods with classification accuracy of 100% for two class classification problem and 99.74% for three class classification problem. The remarkable classification accuracy facilitates the digital implementation of the proposed EMRVFLN classifier which may aid to design an embedded system for real-time disease diagnosis. Post-independent India has witnessed several horrific incidents of communal violence. The largest communal riot happened in the year 1984, in the capital city of New Delhi. But after the occurrence of the Anti-Sikh Riots of 1984, there was silence surrounding the incident. The silence was primarily caused by the trauma inflicted from the incident. There are reasons to believe that the silence was politically motivated too. However, the role fictional writings have played in communicating the traumatic memory of the incident was significant. This paper studies the novel Amu written by Shonali Bose to understand the representation of traumatic memory of the community. The paper attempts to problematize the decades-long silence surrounding the incident and the novel's role along with other similar fictional accounts in unravelling the truth of the incident. This paper reports the open path measurement of atmospheric transmission in the spectral region of 3000–3450 nm using a mid infrared tunable lidar in New Delhi (28.7oN, 77.1oE), India. Results on the measurement of atmospheric transmission in New Delhi are reported for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. A tunable infrared lidar system has been developed in-house, which transmits laser radiation with the wavelength interval of 1 nm in the above spectral band into the atmosphere. A 200-mm-diameter Cassegrain receiver telescope with mercury cadmium telluride (MCT) detector is used to collect the backscattered radiation from the atmosphere. The reflected laser radiation received from the tower located at a distance of 400 m is used to generate the transmission spectrum. Data recorded during the daytime measurements have been considered in this paper. Transmission spectra measured over several days showed a similar pattern, which confirmed the repeatability of the system performance. The measured spectra are also compared with the SkyCalc transmission model generated using the online database. Preliminary analysis indicated that these spectra had good agreement in general with a small shift in wavelength region. We have also analyzed the HITRAN database line-by-line and identified the possible major absorbing molecules in this band. The sources of air pollutants that absorb in this band and also discussed. In this paper we assessed how lower body negative pressure (LBNP) can be used to teach students the physiological effects of central hypovolemia in the absence of the LBNP and/or a medical monitor using a "dry lab" activity using LBNP data that have been previously collected. This activity was performed using published LBNP papers, with which students could explore LBNP as an important tool to study physiological responses to central hypovolemia as well as consider issues in performing an LBNP experiment and interpreting experimental results. The activity was performed at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, with 31 graduate students and 4 teachers of physiology. Both students and teachers were provided with a set of questionnaires that inquired about aspects related to the structure of the activity and how this activity integrated research and knowledge, as well as aspects related to motivation of the students and teachers to perform the activity. Our results from student and teacher surveys suggest that a "dry lab" activity using LBNP to teach physiology can be an important tool to expose students to the basics of systems physiology as well as to provide useful insights into how research is performed. Providing insight into research includes formulating a research question and then designing (including taking into account confounding variables), implementing, conducting, and interpreting research studies. Finally, developing such an activity using LBNP can also serve as a basis for developing research capacities and interests of students even early in their medical studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Prisoners are at a higher risk of HIV infection compared to the general population. The purpose of this study is to estimate the prevalence of HIV and related risk behaviours among inmates of the Central Prisons in four states of North India. Design/methodology/approach: The HIV sentinel surveillance was conducted in seven Central Prisons in four states of North India from February to April 2019. Four hundred inmates were included from each prison. The interviews were conducted at the Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre located within the prison premises. The Ethics Committee of the National AIDS Control Organization, New Delhi, granted ethical approval before the start of the surveillance. Findings: Overall, 2,721 inmates were enrolled in this study. The mean (SD) age was 38.9 (13.9) years. One-third of prison inmates had comprehensive knowledge about HIV/AIDS. The proportion of convict (54%) and undertrial (46%) inmates was almost equal. The overall prevalence of HIV infection among inmates was 0.96% (95% CI 0.65–1.40). The odds of being HIV positive were significantly higher in never married inmates, undertrials, inmates who were in the prison for more than three months to one year, inmates incarcerated for multiple times, inmates with history of injecting drug use and inmates with history of intercourse with a commercial sex worker. Originality/value: The findings from the very first HIV sentinel surveillance in central prisons in North India have been presented in this paper. Adult learning involves the analysis and synthesis of knowledge to become competent, which cannot be assessed only by traditional assessment tool and didactic learning methods. Stimulation of higher domains of cognitive learning needs to be inculcated to reach a better understanding of the subject rather than traditional assessment tools that relies primarily on rote learning. So, there is need for an alternative assessment tool. Hence, we conducted a study where we used case‐based examination methodology. This study was conducted on 226 Ist year MBBS students in Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi (India). Based on their compiled internal assessment marks according to monthly formative assessment, students were categorized into 3 groups (I: 0–7; II: 8–14; III: 15–20) marks out of 20 marks respectively. Two sets of question papers were set by three examiners, on the same topics carrying 50 marks each. The first set was based on traditional assessment tool (Paper‐A) with recall questions and second set on case‐based assessment method (Paper‐B). Out of 226 students, 146 were males and 80 were females. For all groups, marks (mean ± SD) in Paper B were found to be higher (18.40 ± 4.29, 30.01 ± 4.12, and 40.33 ± 1.15) as compared to paper A (10.88 ± 4.34, 21.96 ± 7.34, and 31.50 ± 6.94) respectively. However, we found that there was significant (p < 0.001) difference in group I & II, whereas with group III, difference was found to be insignificant. Hence, we concluded that students performed better in case‐based assessment rather than traditional method due to their direct involvement. BACKGROUND: The continuous cultivation of rice–wheat in the same field is a key element of double‐cropping systems in the Indo‐Gangetic plains. Yields of such cropping systems are increasingly challenged as climate change drives increases in temperature, terminal stress and uneven rainfall, delaying rice harvesting and subsequently delaying sowing of wheat. In this paper, we evaluate the optimum sowing dates to achieve high grain yield and quality of wheat cultivars in northwest India. Three cultivars of wheat, HD‐2967, HD‐3086 and PBW‐723, were sown on three different dates at the research farm of ICAR‐IARI, New Delhi, to generate different weather conditions at different phenological stages. Different biophysical attributes, photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance and transpiration rate, were measured at different phenological stages. Yield and grain quality parameters such as protein, starch, amylopectin, amylose and gluten were measured in different cultivars sown on different dates. RESULTS: Biophysical parameters were found to be higher in timely sown crops followed by late‐sown and very late‐sown crops. Further, the different sowing dates had a significant (P < 0.05) impact on the grain quality parameters such as protein, starch, amylopectin, amylose and gluten content. Percentage increases in the value of starch and amylose content under timely sown were ~7% and 11.6%, ~5% and 8.4%, compared to the very late‐sown treatment. In contrast, protein and amylopectin contents were found to increase by ~9.7% and 7.5%, ~13.8% and 16.6% under very late‐sown treatment. CONCLUSION: High‐temperature stress during the grain‐filling periods significantly decreased the grain yield. Reduction in the grain yield was associated with a reduction in starch and amylose content in the grains. The protein content in the grains is less affected by terminal heat stress. Cultivar HD‐3086 had higher growth, yield as well as quality parameters, compared to HD‐2967 and PBW‐723 in all treatments, hence could be adopted by farmers in northwest India. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry. Introduction Considering the increased access to mobile use even in the remote areas, it may be feasible to utilize mobile application (App)-based education among neurosurgical patients and caregivers for home-based care. Objective This study was aimed to assess the effectiveness of nurse-driven discharge teaching using mobile App for home-based health care practices in terms of discharge advice compliances, revisits, and satisfaction among postoperative neurosurgical patients. Materials and Methods This randomized control trial was conducted among 100 (50 in each arm) postoperative neurosurgical patients admitted to Neurosurgery department, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. The experimental group received mobile App--based discharge teaching additional to the routine paper-based discharge teaching received by the control group. Data were collected at baseline, during first (within 30th day) and second (within 60th day) routine follow-up visits using adherence to refills and medications scale (ARMS) questionnaire (medication compliance), self-developed structured questionnaires (lifestyle practices like tracheostomy tube (TT) catheter care, exercises and diet changes, revisits, and satisfaction) and computerized log record from App. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results The demographic and clinical profiles of both groups were comparable. There was no statistically significant difference in medication compliance between the experimental group and control group (p = 0.35 and 0.53) in first and second posttests, respectively. The level of confidence to perform lifestyle practices was high among experimental group. The subgroup analysis showed that patients in experimental arm were more compliant to medications as compared with control group (p = 0.001). Both the groups were comparable in terms of revisits (p = 0.26). However, the overall satisfaction of experimental group was reported to be highly using mobile App based teaching than control group with routine paper-based discharge teaching (p = 0.001). Conclusion Nurse-driven discharge teaching using mobile App is an effective method for neurosurgical patients to adhere to home-based discharge teachings. The management of water resources is a priority problem in agriculture, especially in areas with a limited water supply. The determination of crop water requirements and crop coefficient (Kc) of agricultural crops helps to create an appropriate irrigation schedule for the effective management of irrigation water. A portable smart weighing lysimeter (1000 × 1000 mm and 600 mm depth) was developed at CPCT, IARI, New Delhi for real-time measurement of Crop Coefficient (Kc) and water requirement of chrysanthemum crop and bulk data storage. The paper discusses the assembly, structural and operational design of the portable smart weighting lysimeter. The performance characteristics of the developed lysimeter were evaluated under different load conditions. The Kc values of the chrysanthemum crop obtained from the lysimeter installed inside the greenhouse were Kc ini. 0.43 and 0.38, Kc mid-1.27 and 1.25, and Kc end-0.67 and 0.59 for the years 2019–2020 and 2020–2021, respectively, which apprehensively corroborated with the FAO 56 paper for determination of crop coefficient. The Kc values decreased progressively at the late-season stage because of the maturity and aging of the leaves. The lysimeter's edge temperature was somewhat higher, whereas the center temperature closely matched the field temperature. The temperature difference between the center and the edge increased as the ambient temperature rose. The developed smart lysimeter system has unique applications due to its real-time measurement, portable attribute, and ability to produce accurate results for determining crop water use and crop coefficient for greenhouse chrysanthemum crops. This paper makes an effort to comprehend how loneliness affects quality of life and other psychological restraints. Many elders face new challenges in this period and do not have access to their supportive resources as correctly as the past. For the purpose of the same, the data was collected from elderly aged 61-65 years from New Delhi. The tools used for this paper include Revised UCLA Loneliness scale (Russell, 1980), The Symptom Checklist-90-R (Dergotis, 1970) and Older People's Quality of Life (Bowling, 2007, 2009, 2010). The results were further interpreted by using the pearson correlation. It can be concluded that loneliness creates depression, which further contributes to poor quality of life. Background: Pulses are a kind of legume crops which can be utilised for both food and animal feed. Pulses are also termed a "poor man's meat" because of high protein content. The physical properties of pulses are useful to design the processing equipment. The moisture content of agricultural materials greatly affects various physical properties. Nitty-gritty data on germination and physicomechanical properties of pulses are provided in this paper at different moisture contents, which is extremely helpful in the design of equipment used in harvesting operations and food processing operations. Methods: The experiment was conducted at Department of Agricultural Engineering, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. All the experiments were replicated thrice and mean±SD (standard deviation) values were taken using R software to check the level of significance (p≤0.05). Result: Physical properties, mechanical properties and germination of pulses were evaluated as functions of moisture content. It was observed that average length, breadth, thickness and geometric mean diameter, sphericity, porosity, angle of repose and static coefficient of friction of pulses increased linearly and bulk density, true density, hardness and germination decreased density with increase in moisture content from 9.98 to 20.4% (db). We are trying to implement a system using IoT platforms like Thingspeak or Cayenne in order to bring awareness to every individual about the harm we are doing to our environment. Already, New Delhi is remarked as the most pollution city in the world recording Air Quality above 300 PPM. We have used easiest platform like Thingspeak and set the dashboard to public such that everyone can come to know the Air Quality at the location where the system is installed. Different industries throughout the world face a tough time confronting the pandemic of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), so does the hotel industry. Hence, this research attempts to determine the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the hotel industry in terms of guest retention. The crisis which started in Wuhan, China (December 2019) has spread to the whole world and continues to spread. Although in newspapers, journals, and online media there are few published articles, they are mostly based on secondary data. This study is an attempt to examine the perceptions of hotel employees regarding the effect of COVID-19 on the hotel industry through qualitative analysis. Further, the study attempts to evaluate the crisis preparedness and steps taken to combat COVID-19, and eventually determine the positive outcome of the crisis. This paper presents an overview of the advent of COVID-19 in New Delhi, India, and more importantly, reports on the approaches that hotels employ to sustain during this diffcult time. Through the in-depth interviews with senior employees in six hotels in the national capital city New Delhi, India (four interviews before the lockdown and two interviews during the lockdown). Empirical findings showed that at various phases of the crisis, hotels were taking different approaches to survive. The hotels were introducing strategies for guest retention to create stronger guest relationships. This paper presents the impact of this crisis on hotel employees and how the hotels are reacting to this crisis. The practical and theoretical implications of the study are discussed. This paper deals with the exergy analysis of single slope solar desalination unit combined with N number of compound parabolic concentrator integrated evacuated tubular collectors (NCPCETC-SU) considering New Delhi climate. An exhaustive computation considering each month of year is carried out. The methodology consists of feeding all fundamental equations with relevant data to MATLAB code and presenting the output in the suitable form. Results of NCPCETC-SU are compared with results of SU incorporated with evacuated tubular collectors (NETC-SU). Concludingly, the annual exergy and daily exergy efficiency for NCPCETC-SU are higher by 36.51% and 30.81% than NETC-SU for same mass flow rate, N and water depth under similar climatic situation. The annual freshwater output is higher by 16.81% and freshwater cost is higher by 9.85% at 2% rate of interest for NCPCETC-SU than NETC-SU respectively. Earhead worm Autoba silicula (Swinhoe, 1897) (Lepidoptera: Erebidae) is recorded for the first time in India on maize. Larvae were found feeding on maturing grains and silk, fully fed matured larvae pupates under a dome shaped or elongated galleries made of silk inside the cob. Roving survey conducted during 2019 and 2020 recorded on an average 0.40 and 0.45 larvae per plant, respectively, which is below the economic threshold. Background: Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that is usually detected by electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. Since manual examination of epilepsy seizures is a laborious and time-consuming process, lots of automatic epilepsy detection algorithms have been proposed. However, most of the available classification algorithms for epilepsy EEG signals adopted a single feature extraction, in turn to result in low classification accuracy. Although a small account of studies have carried out feature fusion, the computational efficiency is reduced due to too many features, because there are also some poor features that interfere with the classification results. Methods: In order to solve the above problems, an automatic recognition method of epilepsy EEG signals based on feature fusion and selection is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the Approximate Entropy (ApEn), Fuzzy Entropy (FuzzyEn), Sample Entropy (SampEn), and Standard Deviation (STD) mixed features of the subband obtained by the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) decomposition of EEG signals are extracted. Secondly, the random forest algorithm is used for feature selection. Finally, the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is used to classify epilepsy EEG signals. Results: The empirical evaluation of the presented algorithm is performed on the benchmark Bonn EEG datasets and New Delhi datasets. In the interictal and ictal classification tasks of Bonn datasets, the proposed model achieves an accuracy of 99.9%, a sensitivity of 100%, a precision of 99.81%, and a specificity of 99.8%. For the interictal-ictal case of New Delhi datasets, the proposed model achieves a classification accuracy of 100%, a sensitivity of 100%, a specificity of 100%, and a precision of 100%. Conclusion: The proposed model can effectively realize the high-precision automatic detection and classification of epilepsy EEG signals. This model can provide high-precision automatic detection capability for clinical epilepsy EEG detection. We hope to provide positive implications for the prediction of seizure EEG. Background. Ayurveda, the Indian system of medicine, has been practised in India since ages. We evaluated the overall awareness regarding Ayurveda among patients attending two specialty clinics at a tertiary care institute. Methods. We did a cross-sectional study on patients attending the cardiology and neurology clinics at a tertiary care hospital in India. We conducted this paper-based survey using a standardized, validated questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed using STATA version 14.2. Results. Three hundred and ninety-seven patients agreed to participate in the study. Their mean (SD) age was 45.65 (15.02) years. Among them 68.5% were men and 56.9% were from urban areas. Participants perceived that Ayurveda comprised herbal drugs (77.6%), metallic/herbo-mineral preparations (44.3%), Panchakarma therapy (22.2%) and personalized medicine (37.8%). Principal sources of information were TV promotional programmes (34.7%) and newspaper advertisements (13.9%). Nearly two-thirds (63%) of participants opined that Ayurveda is effective in chronic disorders. Although only 9.1% of participants reported the use of Ayurvedic medicines, 89.2% believed it would be beneficial if the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi had Ayurveda services. Three-fourths (75.8%) of respondents were interested to participate in research studies integrating Ayurveda with modern medicine. Conclusion. Imprecise knowledge and awareness towards Ayurveda appears to prevail in addition to the low practice among the patients surveyed. We found imprecise knowledge of Ayurvedic therapies and its low usage among patients attending specialized OPDs in a tertiary care hospital. The major source of information reported was promotional advertisements in the print and electronic media. Our survey shows a need for awareness programmes for general public at various levels. The presence of persistent heavy fog in northern India during winter creates hazardous situations for transportation systems and disrupts the lives of about 400 million people. The meteorological factors responsible for its genesis and predictability are not yet completely understood in this region. Given its high potential for socioeconomic impact, there is a pressing need for extensive research that understands the inherently complex nature of the phenomena through field observations and modeling exercises. WiFEX is a first-of-its-kind multi-institutional initiative dealing with intensive ground-based measurement campaigns for developing a suitable fog forecasting capability under the aegis of the smart cities mission of India. Measuring campaigns were conducted during the 2015–20 winters at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, covering more than 90 dense fog events. The field experiments involved extensive suites of in situ instruments and gathered simultaneous observations of micrometeorological conditions, radiative fluxes, turbulence, droplet/aerosol microphysics, aerosol optical properties, fog water chemistry, and vertical thermodynamical structure to describe the environmental stability in which fog develops. An operational modeling framework, the WRF Model, was set up to provide fog predictions during the measurement campaign. These field observations helped to interpret the strengths and deficiencies in the numerical modeling framework. Four scientific objectives were pursued: (i) the life cycle of optically thin and thick fog, (ii) microphysical properties in the polluted boundary layer, (iii) fog water chemistry, gas–aerosol partitioning during the fog life cycle, and (iv) numerical prediction of fog. Building a reliable communication network is a challenging task using the standard Ethernet as the medium for control and data acquisition networks. Such sensor-actuator networks could be distributed across multiple locations across a building. Packet retransmissions and losses could be critical when Ethernet is used for closed-loop controls and measurements. There could be multiple design challenges to build such networks such as total-traffic, compact node design, bandwidth limitations, packet retransmissions, delays, drops etc. In this paper, we report how we implemented a reliable http-based automation network of large interconnected microcontroller-based nodes with a careful design of hardware, firmware components and a new application-layer faulty-node-filter-algorithm. It analysed some of the top causes of poor network performance within such control networks using a popular network protocol-analyser "Wireshark". Though Ethernet seemed the most future promising, it has the single drawback of nondeterministic packet transfers. Additional research is carried out to prove that IEEE 802.3 standard Ethernet could be used in applications like our slow-cryogenics-control systems of linear Accelerators to build an error-free, near deterministic control-application. This approach allowed the continued use of conventional Ethernet networking components. even for the control networks and the same communication medium. The practice of purposefully setting fire to the residue that remained after harvest of rice and wheat crop is increasing periodically. Stubble burning has become one of the challenging issues in India in recent times. Government has been consistently instructing farmers not to burn the crop residues, instead asking them for in-situ management. Farmers are citing various complications in stubble management which pulling them to setting up fire to the stubble. Rice straw burning generates life threatening greenhouse gases which causes air pollution injury. Particulate matter (PM2.5) levels in the capital state of India (New Delhi) have been exceeded by 14 times than threshold level because of episodic agricultural fires in the neighbouring states namely Punjab, Haryana. A very limited study has been done so far on this complete issue despite of its importance. The present review tried to expose root cause, impacts on ecosystem and management strategies of stubble burning especially in India. There are plethora of possibilities in managing residue in sustainable ways including in-situ residue management, mushroom production, livestock feed, composting, biochar preparation, bio-thermal power plants and paper industries. The seizure is defined as the sudden synchronous activity of the number of neurons resulting in abnormal body symptoms. This paper proposes a technique for the auto-detection of epileptic seizures using an online surface EEG database. The features were extracted for every 5 seconds window from the online surface EEG signal. Authors used dynamic mode decomposition power feature calculated from the multichannel EEG signal and Power spectral density, variance, and Katz fractal dimension features evaluated from wavelet packet decomposition coefficients for seizure detection. The K-nearest neighbor (KNN) classifier was used for classification. The KNN classifier was trained separately for each signal feature. The proposed system achieved good classification accuracy in seizure detection using a simple KNN classifier. The approach is further verified using the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Patna seizure database and online seizure EEG database collected from neurology and sleep center, Hauz Khas, New Delhi. Different types of seizures were considered for validation of the model. KNN classifier-based approach achieved 98.99%, 99.69%, and 96.25% classification accuracy in detecting seizures from the online surface EEG seizure database, AIIMS Patna EEG seizure database, and online seizure database collected from neurology and sleep center, Hauz Khas, New Delhi. Support vector machine classifier was further evaluated for accuracy in seizure detection from the EEG signal collected at neurology and sleep center, Hauz Khas, New Delhi available online and achieved 95.5% accuracy in preseizure-seizure EEG segment classification and 96.5% accuracy in interseizure-seizure EEG segment classification. In this paper, I seek to explore the social nature of food in university hostels in India's capital city of New Delhi. With the increasing migration of students from smaller cities and towns to bigger cities searching for employment and education opportunities, hostels have become a preferred choice of accommodation because of their affordability and security. For many marginalised and economically poor students, these hostels are the only spaces where they can afford to live and eat. At the same time, hostels and university campuses have recently been in the spotlight as sites of resistance and social action. Discussions and debates around hostel fee hikes and food politics mean that there is a need to understand what hostel food represents for migrant students. While there is an attempt by universities to use hostel food to promote togetherness and belongingness, hostel food is also met with counter meanings. A study of hostel food offers us a lens to better understand the sources of contestation within the university and the reasons for protests by migrating students living in hostels. Recent advancements in socially assistive robotics (SAR) have shown a significant potential of using social robotics to achieve increasing cognitive and affective outcomes in education. However, the deployments of SAR technologies also bring ethical challenges in tandem, to the fore, especially in under-resourced contexts. While previous research has highlighted various ethical challenges that arise in SAR deployment in real-world settings, most of the research has been centered in resource-rich contexts, mainly in developed countries in the 'Global North,' and the work specifically in the educational setting is limited. This research aims to evaluate and reflect upon the potential ethical and pedagogical challenges of deploying a social robot in an under-resourced context. We base our findings on a 5-week in-the-wild user study conducted with 12 kindergarten students at an under-resourced community school in New Delhi, India. We used interaction analysis with the context of learning, education, and ethics to analyze the user study through video recordings. Our findings highlighted four primary ethical considerations that should be taken into account while deploying social robotics technologies in educational settings; (1) language and accent as barriers in pedagogy, (2) effect of malfunctioning, (un)intended harms, (3) trust and deception, and (4) ecological viability of innovation. Overall, our paper argues for assessing the ethical and pedagogical constraints and bridging the gap between non-existent literature from such a context to evaluate better the potential use of such technologies in under-resourced contexts. Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17 highlights the importance that the partnership narrative plays in the implementation of SDGs. However, given the brevity of many development projects, these partnerships are often developed and concluded rapidly, with little attention given to longer-term implications or success. This paper argues that in order to create and develop partnerships that properly address the SDGs, it is imperative that a process perspective is developed that takes into account the range of stakeholders and interests, values, and the power relations between actors prior to and during the project together with a comprehensive understanding of what is success. This requires a full awareness of the project's context and previous interventions, activities, and policies. In order to illustrate the necessity of longitudinal partnerships and perspectives, a case study, a community-based development project in New Delhi, India, is used. The goal of the project has been to ensure that the community is actively involved in the entire process, eventually becoming owners of the interventions so that, when the project and partnership eventually ends, the community continues to benefit. Examples from the project are used to emphasize the importance of long-term planning and partnership driven by context-specificity, implementation processes and policy-awareness. This paper investigates analytically the effect of dissimilarity of mass flow rate (m ˙ f) and number of collectors (N) on exergo-enviro-economic parameters for solar still of single slope type integrated with N similar photovoltaic thermal flat plate collectors having series connection (NPVTFPC-SS) keeping water depth as 0.14 m. All four kinds of weather conditions for New Delhi have been taken for the computation of different parameters. All relevant equations obtained using energy balance equations for all components of the system have been fed to a computer code inscribed in MATLAB-2015a for computing different parameters. The computation of different relevant parameters has been performed for various values of m ˙ f and N while keeping water depth as constant to know the effect of variation of m ˙ f and N on exergo-enviro-economic parameters for NPVTFPC-SS. It has been concluded that the value of carbon credit earned, enviroeconomic and exegoeconomic parameters, and productivity diminishes with the enhancement in m ˙ f at given N. The optimum value of N for given value of m ˙ f has been found to be 10 from exergoeconomic parameter viewpoint and 6 from productivity viewpoint. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hit-and-run crashes are significant concern for many countries. Due to lack of information of offending vehicles it is difficult to understand dynamics of these crashes to have a prevention plan. The paper aims to identify the impacting vehicle in hit-and-run crashes. We studied fatal road crashes of New Delhi for eleven years (2006–2016) and found that approximately 40% fatal crashes are hit-and-run with unknown impacting vehicles. We proposed a framework using eleven different machine learning-based classification algorithms – Logistic-Regression, KNN, SVM-Linear and RBF-Kernel, Naïve-Bayes, Random-Forest, DecisionTree, AdaBoost, Multilayer-Perceptron, CART and Linear-Discriminant-Analysis. We found SVM-linear-kernel gave best results. Results reveal that cars, buses, and heavy vehicles are involved vehicles in hit-and-run crashes. Buses were primary cause leading to 39% of hit-and-run during 2006-2009 thereafter cars increased drastically. Our framework is robust and scalable to any city. Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to examine the use and implementation of RFID technology at the Indian Law Institute Library and National Social Science Documentation Centre Library, New Delhi. Design/methodology/approach - A survey was conducted at the two libraries, using a structured questionnaire comprising 20 questions. Findings - It was found that after implementation of RFID in both the libraries the check-in and check-out time is reduced to less than 20 seconds per item, and use of the libraries has also increased. Neither library had calculated the saving of staff time by performing multiple check-out and check-in of items. High cost is the most significant challenge faced after implementation of RFID technology. Originality/value - The paper provides the advantages of RFID technology for libraries and recommends this technology to other libraries for faster and better services to their users. Purpose: Globally, over 95% of fire related deaths and injuries occur in low- and middle-income countries. Within informal settlements, the risk of fire resulting in injury or death is particularly high. This paper examines fire risks in informal settlements in New Delhi and Cape Town, and tented informal settlements in Lebanon. Design/methodology/approach: Our analysis draws on primary sources, secondary literature, statistical data and qualitative interviews. Findings: The distribution of fire risk across urban societies is a fundamentally political issue. Residential fire risk can be tackled by accessible, affordable, safety-compliant housing. That said, important interim measures can be taken to mitigate fire risk. Some of the risks requiring attention are similar across our case studies, driven by high population densities; flammable housing materials; unreliable or inaccessible access to safe power sources; and – in the case of Cape Town and New Delhi particularly – the inability of fire services to reach sites of fire. However, these common risks are embedded in distinct social, economic and political contexts that must be placed at the center of any intervention. Interventions must also be aware that the risk of fire is not spread evenly within informal settlements, intersecting as it does with factors like gender, age, health and disability. Originality/value: Informal settlement fires have been under-studied to date. The studies that do exist tend to operate within disciplinary silos. This paper represents an important interdisciplinary approach to fire within informal settlements, which grounds technical data, modeling and experiments in political, social and economic realities.
