人工知能(AI)は,科学的探究において非常に大きな役割を担いつつある.しかし,AIは単に科学的探究を効率的に前進させる道具として働くにとどまらず,その使用は科学のあり方そのものに重大な転換をもたらす可能性がある.AIの行う情報処理は,人間には理解困難なブラックボックス的性格がしばしば見られるが,そこからは,AIが科学と人間の従来の結びつきを根本的に変化させ,最終的には人間を科学から切り離してしまうのではないか,といった懸念が生じるのである.本稿では,そうした懸念の内実を明らかにし,それにどのような対応策があるのかを概観・検討したうえで,AIと科学,そして人間の三者が形づくる関係の将来について考察する.具体的には,説明可能・理解可能なAIの開発を目指す研究も対応策として始まっているが,その成功は必ずしも保証されていない.しかしそれでも,たとえば脳の研究とAIの研究とが相補的に進められるような,新たな領域を切り開いていける可能性は十分に残されている.結論部では,これから当面のあいだ続くのは,AIを媒介にした新しい研究領域が次々と登場し,まさにそのことによってAIと科学と人間がいっそう緊密な関係を取り結んでいく将来であるとの見通しを示している., Artificial intelligence plays a huge role in scientific inquiry. However, AI does not merely act as a tool to advance scientific inquiry efficiently. Its use could lead to a profound shift in science itself. AI’s information processing often has a “black box” nature, which is difficult for humans to understand. The concern which arises is that AI will fundamentally alter the traditional link between science and humans and separate humans from science. This paper aims to clarify the nature of such concerns, outline and examine how to respond to them, and discuss the future of the relationship between AI, science, and humans. Specifically, research has begun to develop explainable and understandable AI as a response. However, its success is only guaranteed sometimes. There remains ample potential to open new areas where, for example, brain research and AI research can be complementary. The concluding section of this paper highlights the prospect of a future in which AI‒mediated new research areas will continue to emerge in the foreseeable future. 9. AI Ethics Beyond the Anglo-Analytic Approach

That artificial intelligence (AI), algorithms, and related technologies could use a few good booster shots of “humanism” is widely apparent. In both program code and implementation, AI and algorithms have been accused of harbouring deep-seated flaws that conflict with human values. They are prime examples of the skew towards white, Western, men and demonstrate the bankruptcy in the face of neoliberalist, profit- and market-oriented social paradigms that this special issue seeks to address. Currently, computer scientists and AI researchers who are looking to remedy these problems are often in favour of more data, more powerful machines, more complex algorithms—in short, that we should fix problems with AI by building better AI. In this view human beings and the world can be modelled in code—our lives, interactions, society, and our very selves can be broken down into data points which can be assessed by highly advanced technologies. When these scientists and researchers seek to broaden their approach they often look to philosophy. However, the philosophy they look to is overwhelmingly Anglo-analytic, which views the world in extremely similar ways. Both AI and Anglo-analytic philosophy argue for solutions to humanistic problems which are essentially mathematical. They share in seeing important concepts, such as persons, emotions, agency, and ethics, as mechanistic, atomistic, and calculable. In this paper I will argue that Classical Chinese philosophy offer insightful resources for addressing the humanist problems in AI. Rather than arguing for mathematical solutions, or envisioning persons, emotions, agency, and ethics, as other rigid, atomistic, and mechanistic approaches, Chinese philosophy emphasizes transformation, interrelatedness, and correlative developments. Accordingly, it offers tools for appreciating the world, society, and ourselves as spontaneous, complex, and full of tension. AI can be programmed and used in ways that do not reduce the complexity and conflict in the world, but provide us instead with tools to make sense of it—tools that are humanistic in nature. To this end, Chinese philosophy can be a helpful collaborative partner.

11. A Social Philosophical Inquiry on Machines and Power: From Steam Engines to AI

本稿は機械の社会的影響を社会思想的観点から考察するものである。機械が広範な社会的影響を与えることになったのは蒸気機関の普及とともに生じた産業革命以後であるため、本稿はマルクスの機械論を中心に 19 世紀以降の議論を参照し、機械の社会的影響をとりわけ権力との関わりから検討する。ただし本稿は従来の主体化/服従化の権力論ではなく、物理的環境を通じた権力の執行に関してその分析を行い、同時に機械がもたらす物象化の問題に関しても従来とは異なる視点をとり、マルクスとウェーバーの機械論を接合する形で検討を進める。本稿の最後で、機械に関するこれらの考察の成果に基づき人工知能(AI)の社会的影響に関する分析と予測を行う。, This paper uses the context of social philosophy to study the influence of machines on society. The focus is on post-Industrial Revolution machinery developments when mechanized factories driven by steam engines brought about significant social change. Karl Marx provided the basic framework to analyze these changes, especially in relation to power, which enables us to investigate the “principle of machines” for social control, that is, power executed through physical social environments. This type of power cannot be studied through the social thought of “subjection (assujettissement)” and should be analyzed through the idea of “architecture,” as presented by L. Lessig. On the basis of this study, we examine a new interpretation to connect Marx’s and Max Weber’s analysis of machines and the possible problem of objective reification it reveals. In the last section, we consider the predicted influences of artificial intelligence on society using ideas clarified by this paper

Since Deep Convolutional Neural networks (DCNs) have achieved excellent general object recognition performance, researchers in the fields of systems neuroscience and visual psychophysics have attempted to understand visual processing in the brain via DCNs. In this talk, I will review the progress of DCNs in computer vision, and introduce the authors' visual neuroscience studies using DCNs. Artificial intelligence (AI) technology has developed through several booms and winters, and has now become a familiar part of our lives. It is a reliable tool that can save labor and improve efficiency in very tedious tasks. On the other hand, AI technology is also attracting attention and being used in our oil and gas related industries to expand production and minimize the cost of crude oil and natural gas. In this research, I would like to introduce several examples of AI applications in the field of geophysical exploration, including seismic exploration. One is in the area of data processing and the other is in the area of geological evaluation. I would also like to explain the pre-processing of input data that supports these applications. We are conducting research, education, and implementation with the aim of realizing this approach. This paper describes an attempt to solve the problem of dementia in the elderly (BPSD) using this approach.

16. インフレーションおよび日米の金利差がドル/円為替レートへ与える影響に関する検証 : ベイズモデルとAI シミュレーションを用いた実証分析

As an economic policy response to the COVID-19 pandemic that has been ongoing since early 2020, many countries in the world have been providing a variety of financial resources, including grants and benefits, since late 2020. As a result, the monetary base has expanded rapidly. The expansion of the monetary base supported the world economy by increasing demand. However, the supply of funds to the market became excessive and concerns about inflation grew. As of January 2023, including the impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, inflation fears have intensified globally. The U.S. shifted to a tight monetary policy in May 2022 to control inflation. As a result, the interest rate differential between Japan and the U.S. widened and the dollar-yen exchange rate depreciated rapidly in the second half of 2022. However, concerns about inflation are growing in Japan as well, and more than six months after the U.S. shift to tighter monetary policy, Japan is also entering a phase of rising interest rates. As of January 2023, the dollar-yen exchange rate has shifted toward a stronger yen to the 128-yen level. Thus, global financial markets continue to be in turmoil.This paper provides an overview of the trends in the financial markets, which have been disrupted by unpredictable events such as the COVID-19 global pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, based on fluctuations in the dollar-yen exchange rate. At the same time, we attempted to analyze them using statespace models and AI simulations. In particular, we focus on the expansion of interest rate differentials and the progression of inflation due to the reversal of monetary policy in Japan and the U.S., and clarify the actual situation in which the expansion of interest rate differentials and inflation rate differentials affect the rapid fluctuation of the dollar/yen exchange rate, based on the results of the state-space model and AI simulation analysis.

In recent years, robot programming educational materials have been the subject of active discussion due to the introduction of mandatory programming education. In addition, it is expected that the robot programming materials will include an element of AI human resource development in the future. In this paper, we report a prototype of a mobile arm robot that learns to move by reinforcement learning and confirmed its operation.

20. 内外金利差とドル / 円為替レートの変動に関するAIシミュレーション分析

Since January 2020, the spread of COVID-19 infections around the world has forced socio-economic activity to stagnate. As a result, the world economy has fallen sharply. However, as the government and the Bank of Japan implemented measures against COVID-19 and large-scale monetary easing policies, the monetary base expanded rapidly after April 2020, which supported the economy. Similarly, in the United States, at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the monetary base expanded rapidly due to abundant supply of funds such as cash benefits. Although the economy temporarily slumped, the economy continued to recover from the third quarter of 2020. The Nikkei Stock Average temporarily hit the highest price after the burst of the bubble economy and exceeded 30,000 yen. In addition, the US stock market has become overheated, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average hitting a record high.On the other hand, mutants of COVID-19 appeared one after another, and the main strains of infection changed to Delta strains and Omicron strains, and the wave of infection was repeated each time, but the number of newly infected people gradually decreased. In developed countries such as the United States and European countries, the third inoculation of the new corona vaccine is progressing, and we are looking for a new social step toward post-corona. Under these circumstances, Japan's monetary policy continues its monetary easing policy toward the BOJ's achievement of the "price stability target" of 2 % . However, in the United States, the economy is recovering, the consumer price index is rising sharply, and there is a growing sense of caution about inflation. In May 2020, the Fed raised the Federal Funds Rate by 0.5 points and switched from monetary easing to monetary tightening. The interest rate gap between Japan and the United States has also become clearer, and the yen / dollar exchange rate has been depreciating rapidly since March 2022. This paper analyzes the impact of the interest rate gap between Japan and the United States on the yen / dollar exchange rate and the economy. In addition, we will build an analytical model using AI to simulate the correlation between interest rate gap and exchange rates. Furthermore, we will consider the results and show the findings obtained regarding the interest rate gap and the yen / dollar exchange rate.

21. 石油開発におけるデジタル技術活用の動向と将来像.

Digitalization is recent hot topic in many of industries and regarded as the 4th industrial revolution. Although such a big trend is ongoing, progress of digitalization in the petroleum E&P industry is far behind other industries such as financial services and E-commerce merchants. However, the digitalization in E&P industry has attracted greater interests over the recent years under low oil price environment. It is aimed to reduce operation cost significantly by improving efficiency of entire E&P value chain. According to IEA (2017)Cit is expected to increase 510 billion boe of recoverable hydrocarbon resource globally. In our research with Schlumberger, application of digital technology has significant potential to improve knowledge management and field operation efficiency in the industry. In exploration sector, digitalization will be applied to routine workflow such as data loading and database setup, microfossil analysis, seismic interpretation and petrophysical analysis. Whereas it will not give us improvement of success rate of exploration, but it will contribute to reduce risk of opportunity losses by improving efficiency of study workflow as well as reduction of cognitive biases. 22. 人工知能技術の利用に関する課題の産業比較分析:JP-MOPSアンケート調査票による運輸業・卸売業・医療業を対象に

本稿では、運輸業、卸売業、医療業の合計21,163事業所を対象に内閣府経済社会総合研究所が2018年度に実施した「組織マネジメントに関する調査 (JP-MOPS2018)」を活用し、人工知能技術AI利用でどのような課題が存在するか、事業規模別、業種・業態別に相違点を明らかにする。 具体的には 、アンケート調査の中で、AI利用・検討を行わない理由に着目し、AI利用の障壁となっている課題を「知識不足」「リソース不足」「経済合理性が低い」の 3要素に類型化した上で、事業内容や事業所規模の違いによってどのような相違点 があるかを比較分析する。分析の結果、AIの導入状況については、事業所の規模よりも種や業態による違いが大きいこと、 IoTによる故障検知などで事業機会が高まる機械器具卸売業はAI導入に積極的な姿勢が窺えること、そこでは、人材などの「リソース不足」や 「経済合理性」を課題とする事業所の割合が比較的少ない一方で、「知識不足」が課題となっていること、など が明らかとなった。以上を踏まえると、AI導入に積極的な姿勢が窺える機械器具卸業を対象に、事例研究やセミナー開催など を重点的に行い、「知識不足」の課題を解消することが 日本の AI導入促進 に 効果的であると考えられる。

23. The cases and the future of plant data analysis with AI technology.

In the fields of oil refining, chemicals, natural resource development, power generation, gas and LNG, etc., "System Invariant Analysis Technology" detects signs of anomalies through the real-time analysis of plant operation data. SIAT is an AI technology designed by NEC to identify the cause-and-effect relationship of large amounts of sensor data. This supports plant owners in preventing occurrences of operation trouble. JGC and NEC jointly analyzed operation data of a number of plants and found anomalous signs at locations separate from the functional failure of each equipment. These examples show that process engineering knowledge combined with advanced AI such as SIAT works quite effective for reduction of plant downtime. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

24. Application of GIS (Geographic Information System) technology to the exploration activities - For a better prediction of source rock in frontier basin.

GIS technology such as GPS loggings has become common recently. Real time route navigation can be displayed on our smartphone with high accuracy. This technology has already been applied for the tools of exploration in the E&P industry from 2000s. The exploration can utilize the plate reconstruction model and paleoclimate model more effectively by using the GIS technology for the play base exploration. This presentation mentions the change of the exploration style by the application of the plate reconstruction and paleoclimate model with GIS technology. And then, we will discuss an oil major's example as a possible practice of the plate reconstruction and paleoclimate model for the exploration at the underexplored area of the Eastern Africa. 筆者らはコンピュータプログラムによって自動制御された現実社会の技術システムの仕組みや社会的意義等について,子どもが実感を伴って学べる授業づくりを課題としてきた. 今回,AIの内部処理を手作業で補うプログラミングを通して,AIの仕掛け等に対する理解を促す授業を開発した.開発授業においては,分散型の自動会話システムのプログラミング教材を利用するため,クラウドにアクセスしながら動作するAIの内部処理についてイメージさせやすい.本稿では,開発授業の教育効果について検証した., The authors have aimed to create hands-on lessons in which children can learn about technology systems automatically controlled by computer programs, and their social significance in the real world. We developed manual programming lessons that facilitate understanding of the mechanisms and internal processes of AI, using a distributed cloudbased dialog system as an example as to how it operates. In this paper, we sought to verify the educational benefits of such classes.

Learning Analyticsによる学習分析やAIによるAdaptive Learningには学習履歴データが不可欠である。学習行動を追跡するためには、操作レベルの学習履歴データが必要であるが、IMS GLCが作成するCaliperにより収集すうことができるようになってきた。本稿ではCaliper v1.1に焦点をあて、機能や利用法について解説を行う。, It is inevitable that learning data should be needed for learning analytics and adaptive learning using AI. Caliper Analytics standardized by IMS GLC enables institutions to collect more granular learning data than system logs of LMS. So, learners’ activities will be analyzed in detail by Caliper. This paper describes overview and use case of Caliper Analytics focusing to v1.1.

本研究では、マーケティング発展の現況の俯瞰を出発点とし、未来においてマーケティングのあるべきスタイルと学問的完成に近づくためのステップを考察した。マーケティングの未来を探求論考するにあたり、21世紀を迎えた当初、および平成を終える今年といくつかの区切りをもって検証した。そこにおいて変化という事象については(1)カタストロフィ的発生(2)事態の必然性(3)環境変化のプロセス進行、を踏まえた認識が必要とした。次に消費者志向概念が相変わらず完成を見ない現況を踏まえマーケティング発展の障壁と解決につなげうる方途を 1 . 理念相反 2 . 学問的成長過程の現実 3 . 科学性への期待と現実 の三点から考察した。さらにマーケティングの未来形を形成するために緊要な事項について 1 . 哲学的基盤確立の必要性 2 . サイエンス手法発展の期待と懸念 の二点に集約して論考した。 ツールとしてのマーケティングは飛躍的に高度化して社会的有用性は確固たるものになっているが理念的完成を目指すための努力の蓄積を重ねていくべきだというのが筆者の見解である。Good Company─"良い企業"が社会の主流となっていくべきであり、その実現の先に"良い社会"が形づくられていくという認識を携えつつ、実現に向けては ①fill up ②top upでマーケティングは自らを一歩一歩完成に近づけ未来に向かっていくべきだと本稿では結論づけた。, Departmental Bulletin Paper, 研究論文
