We report on the fabrication of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorod-based flexible, cost-effective single electrode triboelectric nanogenerator (STENG) on cellulose paper platform. In particular, the influence of surface functional groups of ZnO nanorods on the STENG output has been investigated. The STENG has been designed with chemically grown ZnO nanorod-coated paper as active triboelectric layer and Teflon/ Aluminum as counter triboelectric layer/ electrode. It has been found that post-annealing of nanorods at 125∘C improves the output voltage by twice compared to the pristine nanorods and delivers an output power of [Formula: see text]W/cm2. With annealing up to 125∘C, the optimal removal of the chemisorbed water from the defect sites of ZnO surface increases the intrinsic carrier concentration leading to maximum charge transfer and hence higher triboelectric output. On the other hand, a higher extent of oxygen accumulation from air at 150∘C lowers the intrinsic carrier concentration resulting in the reduced output. It has been proposed that the competition between the events like water removal and oxygen accumulation under different annealing temperatures can influence the STENG output largely. Finally, the optimized STENG has been demonstrated to work as wearable bio-mechanical sensors operating through bio-mechanical stimuli.

A newly designed gas phase thermal decomposition reactor, ohmically heating the catalytic sites, has been used to synthesize multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on carbon paper and stainless steel screen. Co-Ni catalyst particles were dispersed by a silane intermediate layer adsorbed onto the carbon fibers or the stainless steel threads of the supports. MWCNTs were obtained on both substrates by a tip grown mechanism. They are about 20 μm in length and 15–50 nm in diameter. A methanol pretreatment of the carbon fibers significantly increased the density of the tubes on the carbon paper, but the same treatment had a negative effect on stainless steel. The MWCNTs, which adhere firmly to the carbon paper and the stainless steel screen, may find applications as electrodes in fuel cells, sensors and in photonics.

Incessant streak of unsuccessful attempts to synthesize low cost graphene with larger flake size and purity is frequently reported. Any reported methods that result in few layers of graphene with minimal contamination are definitive to exist. In this work, graphene was prepared economically from source of “paper” and detailed investigation was done on the effect of synthesizing parameters like paper source, temperature and amount of urea in the formation of graphene. This is a cost effective method, in which the paper that we use in our daily life was carbonized with the help of urea at a temperature of 850[Formula: see text]C under N2 atmosphere. The paper source was varied, shape of the paper was altered and the graphene paper with large surface area was synthesized without smudging and the prepared graphene paper was analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) for its structural, morphological investigation. To test the supercapacitance performance, electrochemical behavior was investigated in 6[Formula: see text]M KOH electrolyte. The specific capacitance of 1122[Formula: see text]F/g was obtained at 5[Formula: see text]mV/s scan rate. Chronopotentiometry curves showed an excellent cyclic stability with higher charge/discharge duration and hence could be used for electrochemical supercapacitor applications.

This paper presents a new processing method to produce nanotube reinforced composites by using single-walled nanotube (SWNT) bucky paper as reinforcement. The SWNT bucky paper is an entangled mat of SWNTs, which is a highly porous mesh structure. To successfully produce SWNT bucky paper reinforced composites, it is essentially important to prepare a high-quality bucky paper. In this study, the quality of the bucky paper related to the dispersion of nanotubes within the bucky paper, which was quantitatively-characterized with rope size distribution and pore size distribution. An experimental study was conducted to investigate the effects of various process parameters on the dispersion of nanotubes using design of experiments (DOEs) approach. Based on the experimental analysis, the dispersion process of nanotubes within the bucky paper was optimized by selecting appropriate process parameters.

In the present work, we report on the magneto-transport properties of graphitic based materials (graphene, few-layer graphene, and bulk graphite) in very high magnetic field. Quantum Hall Effect (QHE) has been studied in graphitic systems in very high pulsed magnetic field (up to B = 57 T ) and at low temperature (≤ 4 K). Graphene sample shows well-defined Hall resistance plateaus at filling factors v = 2,6,10, etc. Few-layer graphene systems display clear signatures of standard and unconventional QHE. Magneto-transport studies on bulk highly oriented pyrolytic graphite show a charge density wave transition at strong enough magnetic field as well as Hall coefficient sign reversal.

Graphene has been synthesized using thermal decomposition of ethyl alcohol in a medium pressure autoclave. The synthesis was carried out in the presence of strong alkaline solution at a temperature of ~230°C and pressure of 60 bar. The as-synthesized graphene has been characterized using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). AFM analysis on various graphene sheets shows the presence of monolayer (n = 1) to trilayer (n = 3) graphene sheets with thickness of ~1.168 nm. HRTEM studies confirm the high quality of graphene obtained after purification of as-synthesized product. Use of chemically nonexplosive material for synthesis and reduced reaction time along with the absence of post-pyrolysis process make it a commercially viable process for bulk production of graphene.

Titanium oxide and zirconium oxide thin films were deposited at low temperatures (not exceeding 350°C) by off-plane filtered cathodic vacuum arc (FCVA). The film structures were studied by XRD and Raman spectra. For titanium oxide thin films, amorphous structure remains up to 230°C, and anatase film with the crystallite size of 16 nm is observed at 330°C as confirmed by XRD and Raman analysis. For zirconium oxide, the film structure develops from amorphous at room temperature to polycrystalline state at 150°C and above. Moreover, for the crystallized films, preferred orientation is along [-111] direction. At 150°C the films possess nano-sized crystallites (less than 15 nm). For these two kinds of metal oxide thin films, surface roughness both increases with the growth temperature.

A Cobalt disulfide–reduced graphene oxide (CoS2-RGO) nanocomposite was prepared by a simple hydrothermal method and the prepared nanocomposite was characterized using various techniques like XRD, SEM and FTIR. The results of these techniques indicated the uniform deposition of CoS2 nanoparticles on Graphene sheets. Further, the prepared nanocomposites were tested for its activity towards energy storage and the test results showed a specific capacitance of 28[Formula: see text]F/g in an aqueous 20% KOH electrolyte at a current density of 0.5[Formula: see text]A/g. All these materials showed highly reversible charge–discharge cycles. The overall electrochemical performance of this composite is shown to be drastically improved when compared to bare CoS2 nanoparticles. Thus with the good electrochemical properties, CoS2–RGO nanocomposites could be effectively used as an electrode material for supercapacitors.

Nanotechnology is described as an emerging technology that not only holds promise for society, but also is capable of providing novel approaches to overcome our common problems. The present study focused on the synthesis of silver nanoparticles using the metabolites of Annona squamosa seeds. The biological reduction procedure proposed in this method was considered as better one compared to chemical mediated reduction methods. The advantages include nontoxic to the environment, less energy consuming and highly suitable for further biological applications. The seeds were separated from the fruit pulp, grinded into powder and dissolved in distilled water. The suspension was used as reducing agent and treated with silver nitrate at the concentration of 1[Formula: see text]mM. The reduction reaction was continuously monitored by UV-visible photo spectrometer. Further the samples were subjected to AFM, SEM and XRD analysis for the confirmation of their size, structure, agglomerations and the arrangements of crystals. Finally the antibacterial properties of nanoparticles were tested against clinically important pathogenic microorganisms using disc diffusion method and compared with the activities of standard antibiotics. The combinational effects of nanoparticles with commercial antibiotics also were tested by the same method.

Directed self-assembly of nano or microsized materials as building blocks is a very exciting research topic to construct large-scale but still uniform 2D or 3D architectures. Graphene shows great potential as an advanced building block for fabricating varied graphene-based functional films or architectures together with other metal, metal oxide and semiconductor nanomaterials. In our work, we demonstrated an approach to fabrication of flexible, transparent conductive thin films via layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly of oppositely charged reduced graphene oxides (RGOs). The graphene thin films showed remarkable optical–electronic properties. Inspired by this, we further fabricated transparent conductive hybrid thin film via LbL assembly of oppositely charged RGO nanosheets and Pt nanoparticles. The graphene– Pt hybrid thin film showed transient optical property as well as appropriate conductive and wetting properties. Moreover, we demonstrated graphene wrapped- MnO2 (GW- MnO2 ) nanocomposites by self-assembly of honeycomb MnO2 nanospheres and graphene sheets via an electrostatic co-precipitation method. The hybrid materials had a good electrochemical performance.

The most serious public health problems now involve antibiotic resistance and cancer that kills more than 15 million people per year which indicates that the existing antibiotics and chemotherapy are not as active as before. This paper provides nanotechnology as a possible answer. However, typical physicochemical nanomaterials production processes, frequently requiring the use of harmful catalysts, have environmental or social implications. This paper covers how to use the innovative liquid-pulsed laser ablation (LP-PLA) process to manufacture selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs). After the first set of radiation at 500[Formula: see text]mJ laser energy and 100 pulses, a second set was employed to decrease the size to less than 100[Formula: see text]nm with the same condition. Therefore, two main groups of 80 and 10[Formula: see text]nm had colloidal solutions for spherical SeNPs. The particles were also more stable following the second round of irradiation. Furthermore, when SeNPs were grown with human dermal fibroblast cells at doses up to 1[Formula: see text]ppm, they had a mild cytotoxic impact. The potential of utilizing totally naked SeNPs produced using the novel LP-PLA procedure as a novel and efficient way of producing nanoparticles for biomedical applications is presented in this paper.

This paper highlights on the coronavirus outbreak caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). At the time of writing this paper, there has been over 6 million confirmed cases worldwide. It is a person–person transmittable infection but there have been cases of asymptomatic carriers. Hence, development of an effective biosensing diagnostic tool can curb its rapid transmission rate. The first part of the paper highlights on the SARS-CoV-2 structure and its resemblance to SARS-CoV. The second part of the paper analyzes on the potential application of gold and silver nanoparticles to generate a red shift that had enhanced the calorimetric property of the MERS-CoV analysis due to transition in its optical property. Other electrochemical techniques that utilized the application of gold nanoparticles are also reviewed. Gold and silver nanoparticles (AuNP and Ag NP) can accelerate the sensitivity upon electrodeposition on the diagnostic tool.

The results for the case of rupturing of an ultra-thin polymer film confined in a narrow planar geometry, are presented in this paper. NVT Monte Carlo simulation technique with Glauber kinetics has been used. Periodic boundary conditions are applied along [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] directions. Two planar surfaces at separations of [Formula: see text] and 6.75[Formula: see text] are used to confine the film. The lower substrate at [Formula: see text] has square well attractive affinity to the polymer beads, whereas the upper substrate at [Formula: see text] interacts with beads via hard sphere interaction. The properties as-pair correlation function, mean square displacement, density distribution, etc., are sampled for different parameters as pore widths [Formula: see text] and 6.75[Formula: see text], average number densities [Formula: see text] beads/[Formula: see text], 1.78 beads/[Formula: see text] and 1.56 beads/[Formula: see text], surface-film interaction of square well strengths [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] with range [Formula: see text] at different temperatures [Formula: see text], 2.0, 2.2 and 2.4. Aggregation of monomers at free ends of the chains appears to initiate tearing of the film, causing formation of strip-like structures. Repulsive force arising because of overlap in excluded volume regions, re-organize the beads. Stronger surface force leads to the crystallization of the film whereas lower surface affinity leads to adhesion failure. For moderate values of surface affinities, there exists a delicate balance between molecular forces amongst beads and the surface affinity. The complex nanopatterns thus formed are a result of interplay of these forces. The phenomena discussed in the paper mimics spinodal dewetting.

In this paper, we introduce a model of transport of a medicinal product in an organism. The model is based on estimation of integral characteristics. We introduce an analytical approach for analysis of the considered transport with account of changing conditions. We consider a possibility to accelerate and decelerate transport of the above medicinal product.

Quantum dot cellular automata (QCA) define the nanostructure of basic computer. It is used as an alternative for designing high-speed computer over CMOS technology. The basic logic in QCA is the logic state that does not measure with voltage level; rather it measures the polarity of electrons in cell. The Majority Voter (MV) is first introduced to design the logic circuits, but only using MV, designing complex logic circuit became inefficient. Many proposals had been made for designing QCA logic gate. In this paper we focus on different useful nanostructures, reduced size and efficient design of Nand–Nor Inverter (NNI), 3 × 3 tile structures for implementing NNI, And–Or Logic, and AOI also present logic synthesis using proposed gates. We analyze QCA defect on proposed gates and describe its permissible defect tolerance. In QCA we describe application for implementing standard functions using proposed structures in this paper and describe effective area of proposed structures.

A quantum-mechanical model, by combining the quantum mechanical carrier distribution and short channel effects (SCEs) with the classical carrier transport is used to predict the I–V characteristics at sub-90 nm technology nodes. I–V characteristics of 90, 65, and 45 nm for developed model are benchmarked. The analysis of SCEs, namely, velocity saturation, mobility degradation, and threshold voltage shift, has been carried out in this paper for these technology nodes. The detailed physical view of the variation of these effects with channel length (L) and drain voltage (Vds) has been presented. Also, the impact of including these effects in I–V equations of nanoscale MOSFETs is included in the paper. The observations presented in this paper will help in developing a clear understanding of physical behavior of nanoscale MOSFETs.

This paper presents the effect of heat and mass transfer on the blood flow through a tapered stenosed artery assuming blood as a Jeffrey fluid model. The equations governing the blood flow are modeled in cylindrical coordinates. Analytical solutions are constructed for the velocity, temperature, concentration and flux by solving flow governing nonlinear coupled equations using Homotopy Perturbation Method. The important characteristics of blood flow such as concentration and temperature are found by using Homotopy Perturbation Method and these solutions are used to find exact solution for velocity profile. Variation in velocity, temperature, concentration and flux profiles for different values of thermophoresis and Brownian motion parameter are discussed. Homotopy Perturbation Method technique is used to calculate these expressions and Matlab programming is used to find computational results. And then computational results are presented graphically. The significance of the present model over the existing models has been pointed out by comparing the result with other theories both analytically and numerically. Here, in this paper, we have discussed some important phenomena raised in biotechnology and medicine at the nanoscale. So, this paper about nanoparticles behavior could be useful in the development of new diagnosis tools for many diseases in medical field, biotechnology as well as in medicine at the nanoscale.

Quantum dot cellular automaton (QCA) is an emerging technology in the field of nanotechnology. Reversible logic is emerging as a promising computing paradigm with applications in low-power quantum computing and QCA in the field of very large scale integration (VLSI) design. In this paper, we worked on conservative logic gate (CLG) and reversible logic gate (RLG). We examined that RLG and CLG are two classes of logic family intersecting each other. The intersection of RLG and CLG is parity preserving reversible (PPR) or conservative reversible logic gate (CRLG). We proposed in this paper, three algorithms to find different k × k RLG as well as CLG. Here, we demonstrate only the most promising two proposed gates of different categories. We compared the results with that of the previous Fredkin gate. The result shows that logic synthesis using above two gates will be a promising step towards the low-power QCA design era. We have shown a parity preserving approach to design all possible CLG. We also discuss a coupled Majority–minority-Voter (MmV) in a single nanostructure, dual outputs are driven simultaneously. This MmV gate is used for implementing n variables symmetric functions, testing the conservative gates as we explained that parity must be preserved if Majority and Minority output are same as input as well as output of CLG.

Solar energy is one of the main resources in our modern life. Photovoltaic panels are one of the most important technologies that make use of solar energy good because the photovoltaic cells harvest light from the sun and turn sunlight into electrical energy. This paper presents the manufacture of the solar cell from (Al/ZnO/perovskite/CuO/[Formula: see text]-Psi/Al) nanostructures using the drop-casting method at a 70∘C process temperature. Perovskite (Cs4CuSb2Cl[Formula: see text] nanostructures‘ structural, optical and morphological characteristics were identified by X-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM, UV–Vis spectrophotometer and AFM. This work generated a solar cell device with the highest energy conversion efficiency (12.49%) and filling factor of 33.7%, promising to create a high-quality polycrystalline crystal. In the current study, effective hybrid Pb-free Perovskite solar cells are explained and investigated.

The electrodeposition from room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) has recently come up as a low-cost technique for the growth of II–VI semiconductor compounds and thin films, some promising alternatives to classical organic or inorganic solvents. As a relatively new field of study, only a few reports exist describing the growth mechanism of electrodeposition from RTILs, especially for CdSe films. In this paper, a new electrochemical method has been developed for the deposition of Cadmium Selenide thin layers onto indium doped tin oxide coated conducting glass (ITO) using an RTIL and an Organic solvent system (Tricaprylmethylammonium chloride/Formamide). Structural properties of prepared films have been investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and micro-Raman analysis which reveal a pure cubic phase with the zinc-blende-type structure and typical peaks of nanostructured CdSe, respectively. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) analysis showed homogenous and smooth surface of the deposited films. UV-vis measurements demonstrated the presence of direct transition with a band gap energy around 1.68[Formula: see text]eV. The flat-band potential and carrier density values of CdSe thin film are [Formula: see text]0.667[Formula: see text]V and [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]cm[Formula: see text], respectively, as deduced from Mott–Schottky studies. The photoelectrochemical (PEC) behavior of the CdSe thin film exhibited an enhanced photocurrent density at about 0.35[Formula: see text]mA/cm2 vs. Ag/AgCl.

So far, one of the most promising applications of nanoscale science and technology has been in the area of field emission. The electric field amplification effects associated with sharp nanostructure tips can be used to significantly reduce the emission voltages. Another equally promising area that also takes advantage of the field amplification effects is the area of field ionization. The extremely high electrical fields generated near the vicinity of sharp nanostructure tips can be used to ionize chemical or biological species at a fraction of the voltage of a traditional ionizer. In this article we review two of the very first reported papers related to nanoscale field ionization published by our group at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The first paper describes a carbon nanotube gas ionizer, which shows potential for gas sensing applications. The second paper describes an ultra low-power gas ionizer featuring β-phase Tungsten nanorod electrodes. We end with a review of the major challenges that must be overcome to develop nanoscale ionization sensors.

In this paper, we introduce an approach to manufacture a field-effect heterotransistor with two gates. In the framework approach, we consider a heterostructure with required configuration, doping of required parts of the heterostructure by diffusion and/or ion implantation and optimization of annealing of dopant or radiation defects. The introduced approach of manufacturing a transistor gives us the possibility to decrease area of surface and thickness of the transistor. In this paper, we also introduce an approach to make prognosis of mass and heat transport with account variation of parameters of these processes in space in time and nonlinearity of these processes.

In this paper we analyze mass transfer during growth of epitaxial layers in magnetrons. Due to analysis of influence of physical and technological parameters on the growth we formulate several recommendations to improve properties of epitaxial layers: increase of homogeneity of films; minimization of defects of films; dependence of properties of heterostucture on geometric dimensions of magnetron (in fact this is correlation between the above geometric dimensions and growth time). We introduce an analytical approach for analyzing mass transfer. The approach gives a possibility to take into account the nonlinearity of processes, as well as changes in parameters in space and time.

This paper reports the synthesis and analysis of the characterization results of PbS and PbS/ZnO core/shell nanoparticles embedded in Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) matrix. The technique adopted in this work is wet chemical synthesis of PVA/PbS and PVA/PbS/ZnO core/shell nanoparticles. In total, two different sets of samples comprising of nine samples have been synthesized by altering parameters like PVA concentration and shell thickness for the PVA/PbS and PVA/PbS/ZnO samples, respectively. Various characterization techniques are used to analyze the influence of alteration of matrix concentration and shell thickness upon the as-synthesized nanoparticles. The techniques include UV-Vis Spectroscopy (UV-vis), Photoluminescence (PL) Spectroscopy, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Analysis of X-Rays (EDAX) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Results of the characterization techniques confirm the formation of nanoparticles of PbS and PbS/ZnO, respectively.

In this paper, core–shell structured (ZnSe) is prepared bio synthesis by cold plasma technique under atmospheric pressure with an exposure time of 3[Formula: see text]min and a gas flow rate of 3[Formula: see text]L/min. Films’ structural characteristics and morphological characterization were investigated by X-ray diffractometer, atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). In addition, parameters like crystal size were calculated. Results showed XRD patterns exhibit structure of polycrystalline of preferential orientation (111) direction. SEM technique shows that the nanoparticles presented are spherical. AFM image verified film-formed spherical particles distribute uniformly. The antibacterial diffusion method property of these nanoparticles was performed against Gram-negative bacteria of Escherichia coli and Gram-positive bacteria of Staphylococcus aureus, showing good control of said bacteria. The maximum level of inhibition was found in coli form bacteria with an average inhibition zone diameter with S. aureus, implying an increasing trend with increasing/decreasing loading volume of NC volume. Therefore, these nanomaterials, which can be prepared in a simple and cost-effective way, may be suitable for new types of germicidal materials.

In this paper, we synthesized zinc oxide (ZnO) thin film by using a cost effective chemical bath deposition technique (CBD) at 90∘C. The as-deposited ZnO films exhibited polycrystalline in nature. The FESEM image shows growth of nanorods about 0.2[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]m length. The Raman spectrum was recorded using frequency of 532[Formula: see text]nm with excited line Nd-YAG laser. The optical band gap of ZnO thin film obtained 3.37[Formula: see text]eV. The value of RMS roughness is determined by atomic force microscopy (AFM), found to be 34[Formula: see text]nm. The supercapactive studies were determined in 2[Formula: see text]M[Formula: see text]KOH aqueous electrolyte by means of cyclic voltammetry and charge–discharge technique. ZnO exhibited maximum specific capacitance of ZnO 204[Formula: see text]F/g at the scan rate of 5[Formula: see text]mV/s.

Power consumption and especially leakage power are the main concerns of nano MOSFET technology. On the other hand, binary circuits face a huge number of interconnection wires, which results in power dissipation and area. Researchers introduced emerging nanodevices and multiple-valued logic (MVL) as two feasible solutions to overcome the challenges mentioned above. Carbon nanotube field-effect transistor (CNFET) is one of the emerging technologies that has some unique properties and advantages over MOSFET, such as adjusting the carbon nanotube (CNT) diameters to have the desired threshold voltage and have the same mobility as P-FET and N-FET transistors. In this paper, we present a novel method for designing ternary logic circuits based on CNFETs. Each of our designed logic circuits implements a logic function and its complementary via a control signal. Also, these circuits have a high impedance state, which saves power while the circuits are not in use. Moreover, we designed a two-digit adder/ subtractor and a power-efficient ternary logic arithmetic logic unit (ALU) based on the proposed gates. The proposed ternary circuits are simulated using HSPICE via standard 32 nm CNFET technology. The simulation results indicate the designs’ correct operation under different process, voltage, and temperature (PVT) variations. Also, simulation results show that the two-digit adder/ subtractor using our proposed gates has 12X and 5X lower power consumption and power-delay product (PDP), respectively, compared to previous designs.

This paper presents the direct growth of vertical graphene (VG) using a metal shield (MS)-assisted plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) method. The 300 [Formula: see text] Ar/CH4 plasma is used to grow VG at 600∘C for 30 min on a 200 mm Si wafer. Without MS, the high Ar+ physical and H+ chemical rate etching of plasma prevents the growth of VG. The installation of 1 MS helps reduce the etching by reducing the ions density in the lower plasma zone and allows localized growth of VG as dark spots on the Si wafer. The crystal quality of VG grown by Ar/CH4 plasma with 1 MS is satisfyingly good with a narrow Raman I(G) peak within 36–40 cm−1, and the thickness of individual VG leaf is few-layer graphene since I(2D)[Formula: see text](G) is [Formula: see text]. The installation of 2 MS further improves the coverage, size, and population density of VG on the Si wafer by further lowering the ions density in the lower plasma zone. Further annealing of VG at 1040∘C in an Ar/H2/CH4 environment can repair the carbon sp2 but it is almost not required as the hydrogen atoms can etch the VG and reduce its coverage on a 200 mm Si wafer.

In this paper, we introduce a model to analyze the manufacturing of an implanted-junction rectifier. The model gives a possibility to analyze dependence of charge carriers mobility on the value of dose of implanted ions. Also, we introduce an analytical approach to analyze mass transfer. The approach gives a possibility to make the analysis in a more common situation, as was recently done in the literature. Analysis of the introduced model shows an increae in the spread of distribution of dopant and decrease of mismatch-induced stresses in multilayer structures with increase of dose of implanted ions.

The resonance between piezoelectric vibrator and the vibration source is the key to maximize the ambient vibration energy harvesting by using piezoelectric generator. In this paper, the factors that influence the output power of a single piezoelectric vibrator are analyzed. The effect of geometry size (length, thickness, width of piezoelectric chip and thickness of metal shim) of a single cantilever piezoelectric vibrator to the output power is analyzed and simulated with the help of MATLAB (matrix laboratory). The curves that output power varies with geometry size are obtained when the displacement and load at the free end are constant. Then the paper points out multi-resonant frequency piezoelectric power generation, including cantilever multi-resonant frequency piezoelectric power generation and disc type multi-resonant frequency piezoelectric generation. Multi-resonant frequency of cantilever piezoelectric power generation can be realized by placing different quality mass at the free end, while disc type multi-resonant frequency piezoelectric generation can be realized through series and parallel connection of piezoelectric vibrator.

There has been a recent uptick in interest in hybrid solar cells, which use polymeric organic materials with semiconductor nanoparticles in the active layer. In this paper, hybrid material is prepared by physical mixing of tri-ethanol amine capped CdSe CdSe-TEA nanoparticles with poly([Formula: see text]-toluidine). Material properties of organic-inorganic hybrid materials can be tuned by changing the ratio between them. The optical properties of the hybrid compound were evaluated through ultra-violate–visible spectroscopy UV–Vis. The influence of CdSe nanoparticles weight percent on the electrical properties of hybrid thin films has been investigated. The conductivity of the hybrid films increases with the increasing CdSe content, and then decreases with excess CdSe content.

One of the important phenomena influencing the resistivity behavior of nanotubes based on the change of their radius is a physical effect called “pinch effect”. In this paper, according to the experimental results, the electrical resistivity behavior of carbon nanotubes is modeled as a function of the radius in the radius range of 3–10[Formula: see text]nm. The pinch effect is not observed for weak current, but if the radius of carbon nanotube is very small, this effect will be considerable and affects carbon nanotube resistivity. The deviations observed in [Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text] (resistivity as a function of nanotube radius) diagrams for individual carbon nanotube are justified with different parameters such as pinch effect phenomenon. The results show an acceptable theoretical model for the behavior of electrical resistivity relative to radius reduction. The theory diagram of the electrical resistivity behavior of carbon nanotubes in terms of radius reduction is predicted in very small radii. These results are consistent with the experimental results. It is consistent and generalizable.

In this paper, we discuss a new method for increasing the efficiency of cadmium telluride (CdTe) thin film solar cells (changing frequency in pulsed laser and knowing its effect on solar cells); using the pulse laser (power 800[Formula: see text]mJ), solar cells with (Al/Si/[Formula: see text]-Psi/CdTe/Al) structure were formed using the vacuum deposition method for three samples at various frequencies (4, 5, 6)[Formula: see text]Hz. X-ray diffraction was used to examine nanostructures ([Formula: see text]-Psi, CdTe) for structural, optical and morphological features, UV-Vis spectrophotometers and microscopy of atomic forces. The calculated thin film (CdTe) optical energy value was 2.15, 2.25 and 2.45[Formula: see text]eV accordingly. The test results showed that the solar cell’s highest energy conversion efficiency (PCE) was 2.73, 3.42 and 4.28%; this study reveals and examines the effective hybrid Perovskite solar cells based on porous silicone. With an increase in the frequency of pulsed laser, the efficiency of the prepared solar cells increased.

In this paper, we introduce an approach to decrease mismatch-induced stress in a heterostructure by using radiation processing during growth from gas phase. We build a framework for the approach of the mismatch-induced stresses in the heterostructure decreasing simultaneously with an acceleration of recombination and diffusion of radiation defects in the damaged region. An analytical approach for analyzing of mass and heat transfer is also introduced. The approach gives a possibility to take into account simultaneously spatial and temporal variations of parameters of mass transfer. At the same time, the approach gives a possibility to take into account nonlinearity of considered processes.

This paper analyzes the effect of 100[Formula: see text]keV silicon negative ion implantation in semi-insulating gallium arsenide sample for the fluences varying between [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]ion[Formula: see text]cm[Formula: see text] using Raman spectroscopy, Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy and Electron spin resonance spectroscopy. The gallium arsenide sample implanted with silicon negative ion for different fluences showed shift in the TO peak position with respect to unimplanted gallium arsenide sample. Increase in the broadening of TO peak was observed in the as-implanted samples, indicating development of stress and phonon confinement due to the incorporation of silicon in gallium arsenide crystal lattice. Annealing of as-implanted samples showed stress relaxation. Increase in RBS backscattering yield was observed in the as-implanted samples. Annealing of as-implanted (with high fluence) sample showed flat RBS yield response. ESR measurement study revealed restructuring of defects in the gallium arsenide sample implanted with fluence of [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]ion[Formula: see text]cm[Formula: see text] after annealing to the temperature of [Formula: see text]C.

In this paper, the effect of hydrogen embrittlement in High-strength low-alloy steel (HSLA) material was studied. HSLA steels are known for their susceptibility to hydrogen induced failure especially when subjected to hydrogen rich environment. In this research, samples from HSLAS were surface-treated using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) techniques, followed by direct Zinc coating using physical vapor deposition (PVD). Other samples were additionally post-heat treated at a temperature of 260∘C for 4[Formula: see text]h to optimize the coating process. The hydrogen embrittlement test was performed by immersing the tensile samples in a solution containing H2SO4diluted with water for 24[Formula: see text]h. Hardness, and mechanical properties were evaluated using tensile testing. XRD and SEM were used for microstructural and topographical features’ examination of the treated samples. The results indicate that the samples of combined [Formula: see text] coating that was backed at 260∘C show superior resistance to hydrogen embrittlement compared to other conditions. This could be attributed to the buildup of a strong outer layer that prevents hydrogen from diffusing towards the base HSLAS material. The greater mechanical properties are possibly due to the reduction of hydrogen amount generated by the surface reaction associated by the formation of Zn(N[Formula: see text] phase and the reduction of hydrogen amount passed through Zn and C3N4layers.

This paper presents a single-ended Schmitt Trigger-based 9T SRAM cell, significantly improving thermal stability for real-time memory applications on a chip operated in a high radiation environment. The proposed single-ended 9T-ST SRAM cell has 73% and 13% improvement in read stability, 42% and 13% improvement in hold stability from 6T and 10T SRAM cells, respectively. The read stability of the proposed SRAM cell is compared with the conventional 6T SRAM cell, which is designed and tested for 23000 MC simulation samples to protect it from read failure. During read operation, the impact of temperature variation on the performance of memory cells is observed using Monte Carlo simulation for a temperature change from 20∘C to 60∘C, as 5%, 32%, and 48% variation in RSNM for 9T-ST, 10T-ST, and 6T SRAM cells, respectively. The proposed SRAM cell is designed and verified in the Synopsys Custom compiler.

In this paper, a modified seed-mediated growth approach to produce gold nanoparticles through HAuCl4 chemical reduction in water fabricated by growth process on indium tin oxide (ITO) was proposed. Particular attention was devoted to exploring the seeding and growth number cycle process in the formation of Au nanoparticles on the ITO surface. In agreement with the assumed analytical model, we have found that the absorbance maximum intensity [Formula: see text] depends substantially on the metal nanoparticles’ sizes, shape and density on the ITO surface. The deposited nanoparticles’ synthesized parameters were evaluated by the surface images obtained using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), UV-Vis spectroscopy and electrochemical measurements. The results show that the electrochemical responses of the as-prepared sample were significantly improved, in particular for the 2-cycle seeded particles followed by one-cycle growth.

Latent fingerprint detection and visualization remains a challenge especially where problems of poor contrast, auto-fluorescent surfaces and patterned backgrounds are encountered. As a result there is an increasing interest in the development of simple, cost effective, rapid and yet accurate methods for latent fingerprint detection and recovery. Herein, this paper reports the synthesis of bright blue photoluminescent carbon dots (C-dots) via an eco-friendly and simple one-step microwave-assisted carbonization of potato peels’ biomass. The C-dots were prepared in only 3 min and ground into powder and used without any further treatment. The as-prepared C-dots were characterized using atomic force microscope, Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction with an average size of 1.0[Formula: see text]nm. The optical properties of the as-prepared C-dots were studied by UV-Vis spectroscopy and spectrofluorometer which established an excitation and emission wavelengths of 390[Formula: see text]nm and 480[Formula: see text]nm, respectively. Owing to their strong solid state fluorescence, the as-prepared C-dots’ powder was successfully used in latent fingerprint detection and imaging on porous and nonporous surfaces. Latent fingerprints were recovered with high resolution and excellent quality providing sufficient details for individual identification. These findings demonstrate that C-dots derived from biomass have a great potential in latent fingerprint analysis for forensic applications.

Full adder is the basic block of arithmetic circuit found in microcontroller and microprocessor inside arithmetic and logic unit (ALU). Improving the performance of the adder is essential for upgrading the performance of digital electronics circuit where adder is employed. In this paper, a single bit full adder circuit has been designed with the help of double gate (MOSFET), the used parameters value has been varied significantly for improving the performance of full adder circuit. Double gate transistor circuit considers as a promising candidate for low power application domain as well as used in radio frequency (RF) devices. Multi-threshold CMOS (MTCMOS) is the most used circuit technique to reduce the leakage current in idle circuit. In this paper, different parameters are analyzed on MTCMOS Technique. MTCMOS technique achieves 99.6% reduction of leakage current, active power is reduced by 42.64% and delay is reduced by 71.9% as compared with conventional double gate 14T full adder. Simulation results of double gate full adder have been performed on cadence virtuoso tool with 45 nm technology.

This paper investigates the spectroscopy of plasma that resulted from the bombardment of ZnSe by using the optical emission spectroscopic (OES) technique. The plasma can be generated by the reaction between an Nd:YAG laser, with a wavelength of 1064[Formula: see text]nm with a repeat rate of 6[Formula: see text]Hz (as well as 9[Formula: see text]ns pulse duration), and a solid target, where the density of the electron (ne), the temperature of the electron ([Formula: see text]), the frequency of the plasma ([Formula: see text]) and the Debye length ([Formula: see text]) as plasma parameters, in addition to the particles’ number of Debye ([Formula: see text]) and plasma parameter ([Formula: see text]) have been calculated by picking up the spectrum of plasma at different energies (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) mj using Selenium (Se), Zinc (Zn) and the mixture (ZnSe) at ([Formula: see text]). It is found that the electron temperatures of Zn and Se ranged between (0.257–0.267)[Formula: see text]eV and (1.036–1.055) eV, respectively, while that of ZnSe ranged between (1.15–1.28)[Formula: see text]eV. This indicates that the electron temperature of ZnSe is higher than the temperatures of each Zn and Se.

This paper reports the photoconductive and antimicrobial properties of SnS2–CdO and SnS2-NiO nanocomposites green synthesized using Psidium guajava leaf extract. X-ray diffraction studies reveal that the SnS2–CdO nanocomposite exhibits hexagonal SnS2 and cubic CdO diffraction peaks; whereas the SnS2–NiO nanocomposite exhibits hexagonal SnS2 and cubic NiO diffraction peaks. SEM image of the bio-synthesized SnS2–CdO nanocomposite confirmed nanoneedles with grains being well distributed. Regular shaped grains with decreased sizes were observed for the SnS2–NiO nanocomposite. Nanosized grains were observed from the TEM images. The existence of elements Sn, S, Cd, O in SnS2–CdO nanocomposite; Sn, S, Ni, O in SnS2–NiO nanocomposite was confirmed from the EDX and XPS spectra. Increased photosensitivity value was realized for the SnS2–CdO nanocomposite. Both the composites showed good fungal inhibition property against Aspergillus terreus fungi not only by the physical, chemical and biological processes but also owing to phyto-constituents in the leaf extract.

Reliability is a vital issue in the area of communication. In this paper, we particularly investigate the reliability issue for molecular communication based on drift diffusion (MCD2). Since molecules easily accumulate in the channel to produce strong internal symbol interference (ISI), the receiver nanomachine will generate high bit error rate (BER) for the process of decode information. Based on this problem, on the premise of considering channel diffusion noise and ISI noise, the expression of channel BER is deduced to analyze reliability. Then a ratio detection algorithm (RDA) is proposed to reduce BER to improve the reliability performance that enables the receiver nanomachine to adapt the channel condition. Furthermore, an expression of signal to interference plus noise ratio is defined in numerical simulation to verify our goal with different parameters, as well as with the adoption of RDA. The results indicate that the performance of RDA in reducing BER works well in general case in improving reliability performance for MCD2.

This paper explores the novel approach towards bio-reduction using Couroupita guianensis flower extract as a reducing and stabilizing agent in the synthesis of silver and gold nanoparticles. The experiments were conducted at a constant temperature of [Formula: see text]C. The surface plasmon resonance band of silver and gold nanoparticles occurred at 420[Formula: see text]nm and 540[Formula: see text]nm, respectively. The investigation proved that the formation of silver nanoparticle started within 7[Formula: see text]min and it was completed at end of 6[Formula: see text]h, while in the case of gold nanoparticles the reaction completed in 5.30[Formula: see text]h. The characterization of the formed nanoparticles was performed using transmission electron microscope, zeta potential and x-ray diffraction studies. The size of the silver and gold nanoparticles ranged between 10[Formula: see text]nm and 18[Formula: see text]nm and 5[Formula: see text]nm and 28[Formula: see text]nm, respectively. The effectiveness of cotton fabric impregnated with silver and gold nanoparticles was tested against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

This work explores the electrical, dielectric and physical characteristics of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) and graphene reinforced Poly vinylidene fluoride (PVDF) polymer nanocomposite films, over a wide frequency range, ranging from 1 Hz to 1 MHz. Films are prepared with different weight percentage of MWCNTs or graphene powder within a PVDF host matrix and its intrinsic properties are compared with pure PVDF films. As the weight percentage increases, the material properties such as conductivity (electrical), permittivity (dielectric) and capacitance (dielectric) will change. PVDF is a dielectric and the fillers are conductors, and this gives rise to the phenomenon of percolation, as the weight percentage of conducting fillers increases. This paper explores film’s properties for different weight percentage of MWCNTs and graphene fillers. Tunneling current of graphene–PVDF films are also compared with MWCNT–PVDF films.

Employing inexact arithmetic circuits in error-resilient applications results in reduction of hardware-level metrics such as power consumption, delay and occupied area. These criteria are very important in portable applications because they are battery limited. Full Adder cell is as a building block of many arithmetic circuits. Therefore, it can influence the performance of the entire digital system. This paper presents a novel low-power and high-speed design of one-bit inexact full adder cell based on 32-nm (CNFET) technology for error resilient applications. This design technique can be utilized in various applications particularly in image processing. The presented design employs capacitive threshold logic (CTL) approach which significantly reduces the number of transistors. The peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) is considered to evaluate accuracy of circuits at application level. Then extensive simulations regarding various power supplies, temperatures and loads at transistor level are performed to measure power consumption and propagation delay criteria. Moreover, some new metrics are introduced to trade-off between application and hardware level parameters. Comprehensive simulations demonstrate the supremacy of the proposed cell than others.

This paper has solved the nonrelativistic equation with the external uniform electric potential and magnetic and Aharonov–Bohm (AB) fields in a dot. We have obtained the three-term recurrence relation for the expansion coefficients using the series method. In continuing, we have found two different conditions. Then, using the obtained conditions, we have calculated the energy eigenvalues and eigenfunction. We have then obtained the main thermodynamic quantities such as the free energy, mean energy, entropy, specific heat, magnetization and persistent currents for our system. Also, we extended the calculations to an interaction-free [Formula: see text]-body system. The obtained analytic results are compared with other results, and some of the obtained results are discussed, too.

In this paper, we perform the increase of cut-off frequency for a HEMT based on the InP substrate by the use of a new concept which can be presented by the use of a Multi-Channel (M-Ch) based on InAs[Formula: see text]P[Formula: see text]/InP. This concept leads to formation of two confining interfaces and also an added barrier in the channel level which in turn leads to enhance the confining conditions of charge carriers. The obtained cut-off frequency for the proposed HEMT based on InAs[Formula: see text]P[Formula: see text]/InP has reached the Tera-hertz range which is the best of all existing power technologies. This morphology of structure is the first power structure that has reached this frequency range due to the use of InAs[Formula: see text]P[Formula: see text] as the main channel, it has better transport proprieties compared to that of InP. The same task is for the drain current in which the proposed structure has shown a high value compared to the structure based on a single-channel (S-Ch) formed by InP due to increasing confining interface number where the booth interface InAlAs/InAsP and InAsP/InP are being used.

This paper demonstrates the functionality of a simple and convenient microfluidic method in synthesizing a series of poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) stabilized nanoparticles (NPs) of various novel metals (Pt, Pd, Ru, Rh, Ag, and Au) with an average diameter of [Formula: see text]2 nm. In this method, the use of microfluidic mixture provided a homogenous mixing of the metal precursors and reducing agent nearly at the molecular level, that yield monodispersed sub-nanosize NPs. Core diameters of the produced NPs determined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), were [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]nm for Pt, Pd, Ru, Rh, Ag and Au NPs, respectively. Of them, Pt NPs were detailed characterized. The obtained Pt NPs were found to have fcc crystal structure with 1.2 nm crystalline size which is very similar to the corresponding TEM result. The efficiency of the synthesis of NPs by micromixer was compared with batch/NaBH4 reduction method for the Pt NPs. It was found that in batch method the as-prepared NPs decreased the reducing ability of NaBH4 by catalytic degradation. In contrast, the micromixer could separate the produced metal NPs from the reaction system soon after the formation of NPs and enables feeding the fresh NaBH4 solution throughout the synthesis. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometry measurements of adsorbed [Formula: see text]CO molecules on Pt NPs showed that the NPs surface were negatively charged with a high population of edge and vertices atoms.
