In 2013 a research study concerning the status and development of information technology competencies in primary and lower-secondary school pupils in the Czech Republic was realized. The target research group was informatics teachers and their pupils. The primary research method was a questionnaire that was provided to teachers, through which relevant data from more than 1000 primary and lower-secondary schools were obtained. Those interested in greater participation in research from 167 schools were then invited to participate further with a request for assistance with organization in the direction of completing the questionnaire for the pupils. The questionnaires were administered electronically and contained 7 comprehensive questions with a total of 15 sub-queries. In this manner, data from 2,173 pupils in 112 schools were obtained. This paper presents the conceptual characteristics of select pupil's questionnaire results which complement other results in applied methods research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Authors of the paper focus on research of written expressions of youngest language graphic system users; it means children aged 7 - 9. Conception of the research survey and its theoretical base is built on the present unsatisfactory state of the written expression of young generation that often misses thought and communicational coherence and thus whole meaningfulness. Our objective is to describe basic coherence means of text elements of pupils at elementary school who do not know all the syntactic rules and work with the coherence on the intuitive basis. We also focus on classification of the most common phenomena that interrupt the text coherence. For realization of the research probe we chose quantitative method of text content analysis. Research file is formed by the written communiques of the pupils created within the school environment through application of free writing method. Segmentation of the research file, it means creation of analytical units, took place during the first phase of the research. The date material was coded consequently. Collection of texts marked with the codes and categorization system of coherence means and problematic phenomena forms the output of the procedure. The texts are supplemented with the data and its analysis. It was found out that written communiques of pupils show certain coherence features (e.g. usage of personal pronouns, identical words), however the text coherence is at the same time often interrupted (repetition of the same words, linkage of sentences without content relation, concord interruption etc.). Research survey helped to clarify the coherence character of the written communiques of the language users who only have been acquainting themselves with its regularities and they have been learning how to work with the language and its graphic system as a mean for record of the train of thought. Introduction: Health Education is a subject that became a part of the educational system in elementary schools in the Czech Republic after the introduction of the curricular reform, i.e. the introduction of the Framework educational programme for elementary education (FEP EE), which came into effect at the beginning of the school year of 2007/2008. The objective of the paper is to present the results of a research project called "Teaching Health Education in elementary schools in the Czech Republic", specifically Stage 5 of the research. The aim of the research is to explore the ways Health Education is taught in elementary schools in the Czech Republic, whether it is an independent subject, what the time allocation is, which subtopics are included, whether education in this area is meaningful and whether it can have a society-wide impact. Research sample and methods: The research was performed by means of a questionnaire survey designed for elementary school headteachers (from October 2011 to December 2013). The research sample in Stage 5 included a total of 218 elementary schools. The results indicate that over 90% of elementary schools have an independent subject of Health Education (of which 11% of schools have the subject under a different name). Over 50% of schools reported higher time allocation for Health Education than time allocation specified in the FEP EE. Only 1/3 of Health Education teachers are qualified. Over 55% of elementary schools reported a balance of individual Health Education subtopics. Almost 100% of elementary school headteachers believe it is desirable to maintain sexual and reproduction health topics in the Framework educational programme for elementary education. Most elementary schools (3/4) do not have teachers who would insist on deleting sexual and reproduction health topics from the School educational programme. This was reported as a rare experience. In conclusion it should be stated that Health Education has a legitimate and irreplaceable position in the educational system, which is confirmed by elementary school headteachers, of whom 95% report that it is desirable to educate their students in the area of health and healthy lifestyle and 70% state that the delivery of Health Education in elementary schools might have a society-wide impact, e.g. decreased morbidity or mortality or non-communicable diseases and various undesirable behaviours leading to adverse health effects. The year 2011 represents a major milestone in the history of the Romanian education mainly due to the appearance of the new law on education no. 1/2011. From the following educational year a new generation of pupils has started their studies in the school: the preparatory class or so called "zero grade" was introduced by the new law. The context represented a challenge for every actor in the field: from the minister's stuff and local representative personnel to the teachers and parents. The present paper offers an overview of the methodological aspects related to the introduction of this starting grade in the schools. In the second part an own research is presented about the Romanian teachers perception related to different aspects of the preparatory class: new disciplines, further education for teachers, usage of a dedicated portal for teacher etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
