Camden (1805-1891) Papers, 1784-1958, undated. Papers of Judge Gideon D. Camden (1805-1891) of Clarksburg, Harrison County, West Virginia, and papers of his grandson Wilson Lee Camden (1870-1958). Gideon D. Camden was a lawyer, Democratic politician, member of the Virginia Convention of 1850-1851, circuit judge, and state senator (1872-1876). His papers include correspondence, legal and business papers, surveys and plats, and printed material. Subjects include Virginia, West Virginia, and national politics; the railroad, oil, timber, and coal industries; and Camden's law practice. Wilson Lee Camden papers include correspondence, legal papers, surveys and plats, printed material, business manuscripts, photographs, map, and ledgers. Subjects include the settlement of his grandfather's estate, and extensive coal, timber, land, railroad, and oil interests in West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania. A scrapbook and clippings, advertisements, letters, manuscripts of speeches, and notes on medical practice, compiled by Dr. John Frissell (1810-1882), a physician at the Wheeling Hospital and medical superintendent of military prisoners and soldiers in Wheeling during the Civil War. The scrapbook is a folio volume, Register of the Sick and Wounded, U.S.A. General Hospital. There is also information on the Medical Society of the City of Wheeling, the West Virginia Medical Society, medical conventions in West Virginia, and Wheeling local history

The Agnes Mero Plenk papers (1947-2004) contain materials relating to Plenk's work in the fields of educational and child psychology. Plenk founded the Salt Lake Children's Center in 1962. She also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Utah.

The James Fergus Family papers are divided into four subgroups: James Fergus; Andrew Fergus; Fergus Live Stock and Land Company; and miscellaneous. Papers (1857-1971) include biographical materials, incoming correspondence, outgoing correspondence, general correspeondence, financial records, legal documents, subject files, and miscellany., This collection is divided into four subgroups: James Fergus; Andrew Fergus; Fergus Live Stock and Land Company; and Miscellaneous., The James Fergus Subgroup includes biographical material (n.d.); incoming correspondence (1860-1900, n.d.) consisting of both personal and business correspondence; outgoing correspondence (1861-1899, n.d.), including letters to family, friends, and newspaper editors; financial records (1857-1897, n.d.), consisting of two ledgers of the Cone Butte and Moccasin Roundup (also referred to as the Moccasin and Cone Butte Roundup) which was a local cattlemen's association organized in 1884 for which Fergus served as secretary and president; legal documents (1884-1910); subject files (1889-1904), concerning the distribution of James Fergus' estate and the purchase of John H. Ming's horses; writings (1876-1892); miscellany (1858-1898, n.d.), including notebooks which include a wide variety of entries such as a list of fruit trees planted, descriptions of daily events, a list of hired men, costs of purchases, shopping lists, etc.; and clippings (1899, 1900, n.d.)., The Andrew Fergus Subgroup includes incoming correspondence (1881-1918, n.d.) containing both business and personal correspondence; outgoing correspondence (1886-1916); court papers (1910, 1919); minor financial records (1878-1911); legal documents (1879, 1906-1916) which are primarily crop leases; and miscellany (1879-1900), consisting primarily of notebooks which include brief entries of daily activities and counts of cattle by brand., The Fergus Live Stock and Land Company Subgroup includes general correspondence (1908-1923); financial records (1859-1931); legal documents (1895-1934); minutes (1895-1931); and miscellany (1898-1908). The subgroup contains material which pertains to James and Andrew Fergus' business interests including small amounts of financial material concerning James Fergus' business in Minnesota and the Fergus' ranching operations near Helena and in the Judith Basin. In addition to this financial material, the subgroup contains a small amount of correspondence and legal documents which concern the Company generally. Correspondence and legal documents which are addressed or pertain specifically to James or Andrew Fergus are filed in the appropriate subgroup. The Agnes Just Reid papers (1850-2004) consist of a biographical sketch, an oral history transcript (1972), personal correspondence, and biographical sketches and correspondence relating to her mother, Emma Thompson Bennett Just. Included are correspondence and other materials related to the publication of her book Letters of Long Ago.

The Anne Marie Fox Felt papers (1874-1967) contains a history of the organization of the kindergarten movement in Utah from 1874, biographies of women involved in the Utah State Kindergarten Association, scrapbooks, proposal and rough draft of a thesis "History of Kindergarten Education in Utah" submitted for a Master of Arts degree at the U. of U., and information on the Kiwanis-Felt Boys and Girls Club.

The Luretta Young papers (1943-1988) documents the experiences of a Salt Lake City family in the post-World War II era as seen through the eyes of a wife, mother, homemaker, breadwinner, and political activist. Included are financial documents, such as family account ledgers; miscellaneous correspondence and other personal documents; and correspondence, brochures, newsletters, pamphlets, membership rosters, meeting minutes, financial records, reports, and other documents documenting political and other organizations in Utah during the 1970s., The collection is organized in three groups. The first group, housed in boxes 1-11, consists of personal information in the form of family financial records and miscellaneous documents collected by Luretta, often with explanatory notes added. This material is organized chronologically. Boxes 1 and 2 contain personal items such as greeting cards, notebooks, correspondence, biographical sketches, and Luretta's personal notes written on envelopes, receipts, membership cards, and other miscellaneous paper. Boxes 3-6 contain the Young family's household ledgers--7" x 11" bound ledgers arranged by vendor and family member--in which Young kept a complete family financial record, including monies earned from such diverse sources as babysitting, newspaper recycling, birthday gifts and the sale of fruit., Also included are complete lists of persons with whom the Youngs did business, organizations they participated in, charities and causes espoused, and churches and schools attended. In addition to the bookkeeping entries, Luretta also noted employment and medical histories, job losses, illnesses, presents bought, prescriptions taken, flowers planted, movies seen, food canned, and bargains struck. She also added personal comments concerning purchases and services provided. Boxes 7-11 contain 7" x 9", 12-column household account books that detail cash disbursed by category (food, clothing, operating expenses, etc.). These books, which record checks written, also contain personal comments, although to a lesser extent than do the ledgers., The other two groups of material in the collection are arranged by organization and subject. For these materials, the dates noted in this inventory reflect the date span of each complete record series, but not necessarily the documents within individual boxes. Documents arranged by organization name are in boxes 12-41 and consist of material saved by Young in relation to various organizations in which she was active. Included are correspondence, brochures, newsletters, pamphlets, membership rosters, meeting minutes, financial records, reports, press releases, advertisements, and schedules of events. The bulk of this material is related to Utah politics in the 1970s. Also of interest are documents related to Young's activities as secretary for the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Local 465, which was affiliated with the AFL-CIO. A bound volume of handwritten meeting minutes from June 1965 through March 1972 is located in box 30., The last group in the collection, contained in boxes 42-44, offers material organized by topic. These files often contain documents produced by organizations represented in boxes 12-41, as well as material from other sources. Included are pamphlets, brochures, newsletters, conference and commission reports, surveys, membership rosters and press releases from such diverse sources as the American Civil Liberties Union, People, Thiokol Corporation, and various citizen advocacy groups. Subsidiary topics include alcoholism and drug addiction, and adult education.

Papers of Henry Samuel Baird, an attorney of Green Bay, Wisconsin, active in Territorial politics and Indian affairs, and his wife and other family members. Correspondence, business records, speeches and writings, clippings, and other materials concern the fur trade, Indians, the Civil War draft, Peshtigo fire relief, real estate transactions, genealogy, and family matters., Among the papers are Baird's memoranda on the trial of Oshkosh, 1830; two muster rolls of companies of Menominee Indians, 1832; some correspondence, 1848-1850, on the reoccupation of Fort Howard and the return of the Winnebago to the upper Wisconsin River; a few items on Stockbridge Indian affairs and on the fur trade and traders; papers accumulated by Baird as draft commissioner during the Civil War; 3 school copybooks; and some reminiscent articles on Wisconsin history., Among the business and professional papers are letters from Henry R. Schoolcraft, Eleazer Williams, Ramsay Crooks (one in 1842 describing the death of Joseph Rolette), from Crooks' sons, Ramsay, Jr. of New York City and William of St. Paul, concerning the disposition of their father's property at Green Bay, and from William Astor, 1861-1863, relating to Astor land at Green Bay. Henry Dodge and Horace Rublee are other correspondents., The large quantity of personal family correspondence includes photostats of letters exchanged by Baird and his future wife during their courtship; about three dozen letters written by his father, Henry Baird, while he was living at Cleveland, Ohio, from 1822 to 1832, and in 1835-1836 when he was employed by the government to teach farming methods to the Indians at Neenah (Winnebago Rapids), Wisconsin, and letters written in 1836 by Henry S. Baird to his wife and to his father describing the sessions of the territorial legislature meeting at Belmont. There are also letters addressed to Mrs. Baird from the wives and sisters of officers who had been stationed at Fort Howard for brief periods. Mrs. Baird's own letters, frequently written in French, depict frontier living conditions in Green Bay and other Wisconsin communities, and family correspondence of later dates reflects the changes in social and political life which occurred as the state became more populated. Other correspondence of Mrs. Baird concerns relief for victims in the forest fires of 1871., Additional papers of members of their families include many written during the first quarter of the nineteenth century concerning Mackinac Island, Michigan. Among them are more than two dozen papers of Madame Madeleine Laframboise, written mainly in French. These include rosters, 1814, 1817, and 1819, of Captain Benjamin K. Pierce's company, which was stationed at Fort Mackinac; one letter written by the Reverend Francois V. Badin in 1833 and others regarding early Catholic missionary work in the Northwest; several from Antoine Dequindre and from other business and social acquaintances in Detroit; and a number from her nephew Alexis Laframboise, in Montreal, and her son Joseph. Other letters, 1834-1853, were written by Joseph to his cousin Mrs. Baird from his fur-trading post at Little Rock on the Minnesota River and from other stations. Genealogical information are the Tenney family and the Grignon family is present.

Easton, History Professor, Papers, 1860-1890, 1935-1960. Lecture notes, clippings, notes, and drafts for A History of European Civilization, Volume 1, and other miscellaneous papers of Jason C. Easton, former professor of history at West Virginia University (WVU). The collection also contains Dr. Easton's correspondence with several former students serving in the military during World War II dating from ca. 1942-1946. Other WWII items include ration books for food, gasoline, and liquor; and two unpublished sound recordings on disc of a radio discussion by J.C. Easton and Clark Ennis regarding the question of which nation the United States should support following World War II, Germany or Russia. There is also an album of photographs, some indentified, of members of the Young family of Charleston, West Virginia, dating from ca. 1860-1890. Addenda to the collection, in two document cases, include Lieutenant Clark Easton's World War I ledger containing class notes and instructional material from an Army Intelligence School, for period 30 September 1918 to 9 November 1918; and a listing of WVU students and graduates killed in World War II. Addenda also include items collected by Easton, including three Civil War documents: 1) payment voucher for Captain John D. Young for work on Bateau No. 16 on the Kanawha River (1962), 2)An eulogy/composition regarding "Stonewall Jackson" by Virginia Military Institute cadet, Samuel Francis Atwill (1863) who was mortally wounded at the Battle of New Market on 15 May 1864, and 3) a three-page narrative by unknown soldier regarding Shenandoah Valley campaign (January to July 1864). Primarily letters written by Edmond, mostly to his wife and brother, while he was serving in Congress from 1797-1801. A graduate of Yale, Edmond was a lawyer in Newtown, Connecticut. His letters describe strained relations with France, the defeat of Bonaparte, a duel, the theater, and a presidential ball. He also gives ample advice to his wife on her spiritual and physical health. His papers also contain legal notes from cases he took, deeds, a journal page written while in Congress, and a statement of his injury in the Revolutionary War. Family papers include deeds for land in Newtown bought and sold by John Chandler, Edmond's father-in-law, and correspondence, receipts, notes on births, marriages and deaths, and assorted documents relating to the Booth and Curtis families, his daughter and granddaughter respectively.

(Jay) Rockefeller IV papers, 1960-2015. John Davison (Jay) Rockefeller IV (b. 1937) represented West Virginia in the United States Senate for five terms. He was elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-ninth Congress and served from January 15, 1985, to January 3, 2015. He was not a candidate for reelection in 2014. Rockefeller previously served in the West Virginia House of Delegates (1966-1968); as Secretary of State of West Virginia (1968-1972); president of West Virginia Wesleyan College (1973-1976); and Governor of West Virginia (1977-1985). From 1964-1966, he was a volunteer in the Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA) program in Emmons, West Virginia. The bulk of the Senator John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV papers document his 30-year career in the United States Senate with additional materials related to his earlier political career.

Papers and artifacts of the Hatfield family of southwest West Virginia, as compiled by their descendants. Best known for the Hatfield and McCoy feud during the late 19th century, this collection is connected to Devil "Anse" Hatfield, his wife Louvisa Hatfield, and four of their 13 children: Elias, Tennyson ("Tennis"), Joseph Davis ("J.D."), and Detroit ("Troy"). The most common types of materials found in the collection are newspaper clippings, correspondence, photographs, and later academic writings on the Hatfield and McCoy feud. To complement the archival material, biographical and online print outs have been included in the collection by the donor. When possible, we have kept the original order of photographs, newspaper clippings, and correspondence. Most of the content is regarding the everyday life of the Hatfields and their extended family, including the children's experiences working for the Pocahontas Coal Company, holiday and greeting cards, delinquent account notices, and land deeds. T.C. Power was a Montana merchandise, transportation, mining, ranching, banking, and real estate magnate; and U.S. Senator from Montana from 1890 to 1895. Collection (1868-1950) includes personal, business, and political correspondence plus financial and legal papers of many of his business enterprises. Collection documents Power's involvement in military and Indian trade, steamboating, freighting, stage coach lines, mail contracts, cattle and sheep ranching, mining, banking, bridge building, townsite development, and other enterprises., The T.C. Power Papers are arranged into sixteen subgroups: 1) T.C. Power--Political, 2) T.C. Power--Personal, 3) T.C. Power and Brother (includes associated companies), 4) C.B. Power--Personal, 5) Grain Companies, 6) Hardware Companies, 7) Mercantile Companies, 8) Mining Companies, 9) Organizations 10) Ranch Companies, 11) Real Estate, 12) Transportation Companies, 13) Water Companies, 14) Bismarck, North Dakota, enterprises, 15) Washington and Oregon enterprises, and 16) Miscellaneous enterprises., The papers (1881-1902) in the T.C. POWER--POLITICAL SUBGROUP document his unsuccessful bid to be the first State governor in 1889 and, more importantly, his term as a United States senator, 1890-1895. Forming the largest segment of the political papers is the General Correspondence, which reflects issues that affected the livelihood of his constituents: free silver and the wool tariff. Most of this is incoming correspondence with only a few letters of reply from Power. Other questions of interest to Montanans during his term of office were the establishment of better services, such as post offices for rural areas, irrigation, uses of public lands, and requests for political patronage. The subgroup also contains Financial Records, including an election expense account for 1888-1895; Legal Documents, Speeches, including an 1889 campaign speech; Clippings, mainly tariff issues, irrigation, and political scrapbooks; and a Miscellany Series, which includes lists of registered voters; federal documents; a record of bills, etc., pertaining to irrigation introduced in the U.S. Senate during the 52nd Congress, an 1892 list of attorneys in Montana, and petitions for the establishment of post offices., The papers (1871-1923) in the T.C. POWER--PERSONAL SUBGROUP reflect his involvement in the firm of T.C. Power and Brother, and his financial investments in other areas. Because Power played such an important role in the administration of T.C. Power and Brother, his General Correspondence details some of the activity of the holding company, particularly after 1900. The Financial Records, which detail his personal investments in mining and real estate--including areas outside of Montana, make up another significant portion of his personal papers. There are also some records for his household expenses. Other series include Legal Documents, consisting mostly of agreements and bills of sale; Organization records, including stock certificates and minutes of meetings; miscellaneous Clippings; assay and company Reports; and a Miscellany Series including such things as a 1920 list of sheep owners in Montana and a 1916 list of materials suitable for paving streets in Fort Benton., The largest volume of records are those in the T.C. POWER AND BROTHER SUBGROUP. T.C. Power and Brother was a holding company whose operations first centered at Fort Benton. Originally the activity of the company focused on steamboating on the Missouri River, supplying merchandise to branch stores, Indian agencies and military posts, cattle ranches, and area residents. The company later expanded to include mining, stage coach lines, and real estate. Records for the holding company are nearly complete for the period 1880-1900. Some records, such as outgoing correspondence and financial material, date to the late 1860s. Between 1900 and 1920 there is almost no correspondence in the company's records. Consequently, the personal papers of T.C. Power and of C.B. Power, and those companies in which T.C. Power and Brother had an interest, must be used to fill this gap., Charles Benton Power's personal records (1895-1941), in the C.B. POWER--PERSONAL SUBGROUP, document his active participation in various aspects of T.C. Power and Brother, as well as his extensive interests outside of Montana. His General Correspondence (1895-1940) documents the economic reversals of the 1920s and 1930s, particularly as they affected the companies of T.C. Power and Brother. Other series include Financial Records (1895-1940); Legal Documents (1894-1938); and Organization records (1922-1932), including stock certificates and minutes of the Montana Automobile Association., The GRAIN, HARDWARE, MERCANTILE, MINING, RANCH, REAL ESTATE, TRANSPORTATION, and WATER SUBGROUPS reflect the Powers' wide-ranging economic interests. In many ways the records represent a cross-section of Montana's economic life during the late 1800s and the early 1900s. During the 1800s most of the records of these companies were retained with the T.C. Power and Brother records. After 1900, however, they were filed separately by each company. The difficulty then in dealing with this collection is that the whole Power corporation was not entirely consistent in either of these practices. Consequently a researcher interested in one of these subgoup companies also has to look in the T.C. Power and Brother records, and in the personal papers of T.C. Power and C.B. Power. In addition to their Montana businesses, T.C. and C.B. Power were also involved in real estate, irrigation, mercantile, banking, and lumbering operations in Oregon and Washington., The records in the WASHINGTON AND OREGON SUBGROUP have been kept separate from the Montana businesses, but additional material can be found in the T.C. Frances Merriam (b. 1899) served as the Executive Secretary of the Committee for Paradise Dam, an organization that promoted the construction of the Paradise and Knowles dams in western Montana. Papers (1948-1972) consist primarily of subject files and correspondence concerning the dams and her work in the Montana Democratic Party. [Processed and deposited through the University of Montana Archives.], The majority of the materials reflect Frances Logan's work as the executive secretary of the Committee for Paradise Dam. Included are subject files containing correspondence, reports, clippings, publications, and miscellany; clippings; and testimony from hearings presented before various congressional committees. These materials are included in the Paradise-Knowles Dams subgroup. The remaining papers are general correspondence (primarily with Lee Metcalf), and subject files relative to Frances Logan's work in the Montana Democratic Party, 1955-1972. Personal and business papers of Thomas Cruse. Collection contains incoming and outgoing correspondence, financial records, legal documents, reports, and miscellany, dealing with Cruse's various activities (1882-1914), including the Thomas Cruse Savings Bank and the N Bar Ranch. The collection also documents the Thomas Cruse estate and the Thomas Cruse Mining and Development Company, which was formed from many of the Cruse holdings. Other subgroups represent key individuals in the various Cruse enterprises. The collection documents mining, banking, and cattle and sheep ranching.

Evelyn J. Cameron was a pioneer photographer and rancher in eastern Montana. Her husband, Ewen S. Cameron, raised polo ponies and studied and wrote about wildlife, particularly birds, of eastern Montana. Collection consists of letters, postcards, and greeting cards (1903-1929); 35 diaries (1893-1928) kept by Evelyn; a journal (n.d.) kept by Evelyn containing notes, copied poems and sayings, and clippings; clippings removed from Evelyn's diaries and journal; a scrapbook (1900-1915) containing clippings on wildlife; 7 articles (1905-1914) written by Ewen; various manuscripts (1904-1912) written by Ewen; and homestead papers (1903-1917)., Evelyn J. Cameron's Papers consist primarily of diaries (1893-1928) that chronicled her daily life including books she read, chores, lists of letters written and received, local and national events, photographs taken, social activities, verbatim copies of special letters, and weather. The diaries also include innumerable tidbits of information that reveal the fabric of her life--the number of eggs gathered and chickens killed per month; notes on the amount of butter she churned; methods of skinning a coyote or breaking a horse; accounts of money made from her photos and garden produce; lists of supplies; and Evelyn's favorite poems and quotes. In addition to the diaries, this subgroup also contains letters (1903-1929, 1974) both to and from Evelyn Cameron. The letters, especially those written to her family, are particularly valuable because they provide more insight into Evelyn's personality, and are more detailed than the diary entires. Also included are legal documents (1916-1917) regarding land purchases; miscellany (1893-1928) including lists of books and ranch animals, Christmas and sympathy cards, and notebooks; and clippings (1893-1923) removed from the diaries., Ewen Cameron's papers consist of incoming correspondence (1908-1914), and legal documents (1903-1914) primarily related to property ownership and water rights. Also included in this subgroup are typescript and handwritten copies of various articles written by Ewen Cameron concerning Montana wildlife (1898-1914). (Manuscript Collection 226).

Primarily correspondence, deeds, contracts, financial records, military documents and Justice of the Peace records created or collected by Elias Grave of Guilford, Connecticut, with additional papers of his children Mabel Graves, Mary Graves Kimberly, Hubbard Graves, and step-sons Thomas and William Hubbard. Also includes papers of Henry Spencer Parmelee, his wife Mary Frances and their immediate family. Other family names represented are Redfield and Nash.

The Sharon Keigher papers (1975-1979) consist of materials collected and created by Keigher (d. 1981) from her affiliation mainly with the International Women's Year, but also with other Utah women's organizations.

The bulk of the collection is concerned with Mrs. Johnson's excommunication from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, her campaign in support of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), and the group "Mormons for ERA" between the years 1978 and 1982. There is a small amount of personal material, mainly family correspondence, included with the collection and dated between 1958 and 1982., The thirty-five boxes containing the collection have been divided into six major categories. The first, consisting of three boxes is personal material. Included are chronologically arranged family letters. The other portion of the personal material deals with her excommunication trial including an alphabetical file of letters written by supporters of Mrs. Johnson to officials of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints., Four boxes comprise category two which contains information on the Equal Rights Amendment. Included are alphabetically filed letters from organizations supporting the amendment; information on extension, revision, and ratification; and organizations of the LDS Church opposing ERA and filed by state., Within the three boxes in the third category are filed materials dealing with the Mormons for ERA groups. Included are articles and clippings about the LDS Church and its reaction to the Equal Rights Amendment, correspondence, speeches, activities, and information by and about state Mormons for ERA. Bylaws, press releases, newsletters, pamphlets, and newspaper clippings are also included., Even though the correspondence in the twelve boxes comprising the fourth category was sent to Sonia Johnson, much of it is closely tied to the Mormons for ERA organization. The correspondence has been divided into these nine subject areas: LDS, Pro-ERA; Alienated and Ex-LDS, Pro-ERA; Alienated and ex-LDS, Religion; LDS, Anti-ERA; Non-LDS, Pro-ERA; Non-LDS, Anti-ERA; Non-LDS, Religion; Pro-Sonia; and Requests for ERA Information. Each subject area has a list of names included., Category five contains four boxes of material on speeches and articles. Included is correspondence arranging various speaking engagements organized chronologically by date of engagement, and a number of speeches and articles by Sonia Johnson. Also included are the drafts, correspondence and other information connected with herbook From Housewife to Heretic published In 1981., The miscellaneous category included seven boxes of newspaper clippings dated from 1978 to 1982 with the bulk falling between November 1979 and January 1980 gleaned from newspapers all over the country. Also included in this section are eight daybooks kept by Mrs. Johnson and other miscellaneous information.

The June Rose Harwood papers (1890-1982) consist of the diaries, school papers, notebooks, financial records, and correspondence of June Harwood (b. 1904). In addition to these materials are papers relating to Ruth Harwood, James and Harriet Harwood, and Frank Spring (husband of June Rose Harwood). The five boxes of Ruth Harwood materials include correspondence, brochures, manuscripts, books, poetry, and sketches. Of special note in the collection are Ruth Harwood's letters to June and June's diaries, all of which provide an intimate look into the family's life.

The Maud May Babcock papers (1885-1981) contain materials dealing with the personal life and professional activities of Maud May Babcock (1867-1954). Materials related mainly to her personal life are: a book, Babcock Genealogy; Valentine and Christmas cards; news clippings; and a contract for building her residence. Most of the correspondence is from family members and deals with personal matters, but also included are letters of introduction and commissions related to her professional affairs. Some of the personal correspondence touches on professional topics, particularly her Utah School of Physical Culture and Elocution., Materials related to her role as founder and head of the University of Utah Speech Department and to her involvement with theater include: class registers, scrapbooks, professional expense accounts, plays, poetry and recitations, programs, and honors and awards. Babcock was an author as well as an educator. This aspect is represented by two books on interpretation of the printed page and the manuscript of a third which she co-authored. The tours of the Orient she conducted are represented by travel brochures and news clippings note her service as a member of the State Senate and Trustee of the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind., Other materials in the collection include miscellaneous correspondence, biographies, theater programs, lists of plays, and scrapbooks. Also included is a copy of her final address before the Speech Association of America and various memorabilia items.

The Oscar W. and Mary Preston Moyle papers (1889-1945) consist mostly of Moyle family diaries and papers. The correspondence is personal and covers family matters as well as comments on the general state of the world. The bulk of the correspondence is to and from Marion Moyle Shenon and her mother, Mary Preston Moyle. Also included are letters from all of the children to their parents and to each other, as well as family friends., The Shenon contribution of a diary and correspondence is included because Philip Shenon was married to Marian Moyle Shenon. Mary Preston Moyle's diaries are records of her family and her travels. Her 1912 diary was written on board the Mauritania, a famous luxury liner of that time. Much of Oscar Moyle Jr.'s correspondence is a log of his European trip, and Philip Shenon's correspondence is the account of his honeymoon with Marian Moyle Shenon.

The Annette R. Dinwoodey papers (1899-2007) contain her personal and professional correspondence, diaries, clippings, genealogy, and scrapbooks. Annette R. Dinwoodey was an accomplished contralto, wife, mother and genealogist.
