The ubiquitous use of digital technologies has influenced contemporary African literature, especially with regards to the younger generation of urban poets. Events are posted on the Internet, and many authors use the communication tools offered by social media to create literary networks (e.g. Facebook). Contemporary Spoken Word performances can be seen as artistic practices that merge old media such as live performances or printed texts with new media such as video recordings or social media tools. By focussing on two poems by Harare-based poet Synik my paper describes how Zimbabwean poets of the Born-free generation use digital technology to re-imagine the revolutionary impact of Zimbabwe's artistic tradition of dissident criticism. Furthermore, it aims at analysing how video technology and social media enable artists to re-create the immediacy of live performances within the virtual sphere. My paper also reflects on the meaning of the venue as a space of performance: The monthly event House of Hunger Poetry Slam, for example, took place at the Book-Café, Harare, which until its forced closure in 2015 has been a long-established venue for a multitude of cultural activities. Insofar, space can be seen as the site of performance as well as the space inhabited by a certain community. As mediatized interaction between artists may also be realised in the virtual space, which is both local and global, space gets de-localised and enables artists to create an (imagined) co-presence in time and space. In this technological world, the major challenge is to improve and extend the range of communication aids. This can happen only by developing an atmosphere of acceptance from various sources. Language is a tool that enables the people to communicate and it amazes us with the abundance of different words, meanings and ways of usage that it has. This paper introduces some of the main elements that configure a paradigm shift in Communication, with the aim of providing a reflection on the ever-changing nature of both the World and our discipline. This is the time for publics and audiences; they embody the message's sense and its raison d'être. The present paper collects the results of two different research studies conducted at different times and with diverse actors and audiences, applying the eclectic method. Some of these findings are as follows: communication has changed due to the appearance of new screens (media) and new actors, who have now become "citizen celebrities". The Twenty First Century has arrived, bringing with it changes to our old paradigms. The new subjects act and live together in cyberspace; they select their own media and develop their own content. In this paper we aim to analyze the economic value of information in the network society. We will investigate the changes taking place in the way information is socially distributed following the adoption of the new digital information and communication technologies and the way those changes may affect the economic value of information. The hypothesis we investigate is that the network society, i.e. the social appropriations of the digital technologies, decrease the economic value of information. We analyze empiric economic data relative to the companies that distribute information to study the economic value of information and how the current information abundance affects the way we use it on the social level. The digital information revolution has brought profound changes into our society and life. The prevalence of digital media and Internet has generated great challenges as well as opportunities for innovation. Digital products copyright protection, information content security and security communication make information hiding a new science and art in the information security field. In the steganalysis part, a steganography security statistic attack model and methods for some steganography methods are presented. According to the presented steganalysis model, a steganalysis method based on statistical filtering and complexity is designed. This article examines developments at public-service and state-administered media organizations based on a global sample of country case studies and selected secondary data. Most public-service and state media organizations have experienced a decline in revenue and audience and a tendency to weaken the program remit, but the overall direction of change is not one of uniform, marked, or irreversible decline. Although successful models of public service for the digital age have emerged, recent evidence suggests that neither the weakening of state broadcasters nor their reform into independent public-service media are inevitable results of digitization. This article addresses the usefulness of the concepts public sphere, counterpublics, and cultural citizenship for understanding some of the most popular noncommercial Lebanese, Egyptian, and Kuwaiti bloggers in the period 2009-2010. It compares the political and media landscapes, drawing on semi-structured interviews and the most common blogging themes in these three contexts. While the notion of counterpublics was found useful for understanding some types of blogging community, cultural citizenship stands out as a more flexible, process-oriented concept capturing how bloggers acculturate information and entertainment as sources of empowerment, resistance, and community belonging. The popular bloggers can be characterized as having consumerist, civil society, or formal politics trajectories, each challenging traditional power structures in ways that can be traced to specific national contexts. New media technologies have been lauded for their potential in de-monopolizing gatekeeper power and rejuvenating democracy. This research inquires into how those changes in the media environment are affecting (and being affected by) consultants involved in the production of political communication. Drawing on dozens of in-depth interviews with these elite operatives, this study highlights how strategies are developed, practices are executed, and messages are encoded given increasing fragmentation and narrowcasting. It examines these consultants' roles in managing the news agenda and political discourse by expanding partisan spaces online for content creation and narrowcasting more nuanced, flexible messages to targeted niches. This study investigated the bottom-up technology transmission process in a country with varied levels of technology diffusion, such as Chile. It explored to what extent children teach their parents how to use digital media and proposed a typology of factors related to this process. By relying on a mixed-methods design-which combined interviews with an original survey-and dyadic data, it found that the transmission occurs for all the technologies investigated, although children's influence should not be overstated. This process was more likely to occur among women and people from lower socioeconomic status, and it was also associated with less authoritarian parents and more fluid parent-child interactions. Why was the European Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), initially expected to be easily approved, ultimately rejected? Losey examines the role of civil society organizations in influencing this outcome. He describes how a small core group of national and transnational civil society organizations, supported by a range of communications technologies, played critical roles at different times, often acting more as network nodes than as traditional leaders. They successfully disrupted the ACTA negotiation process, which was seen as an attempt to push previously rejected provisions into law through a different avenue. This article documents the advocacy process beyond the more visible uses of digital media by social movements, and analyzes the less visible networks of civil society organizations in information policy debates.
