To solve the problem of feature selection and error correction after mode decomposition and improve the ability of power load forecasting models to capture complex time series information, a two-stage short-term power load forecasting method based on recursive feature elimination with a cross validation (RFECV) algorithm and time convolution network–efficient channel attention mechanism–long short-term memory network (TCN–ECA–LSTM) is presented. First, the load sequence is decomposed into a relatively stable set of modal components using variational mode decomposition. Then, the RFECV-based method filters the feature set of each modal component to construct the best feature set. Finally, a two-stage prediction model based on TCN–ECA–LSTM is established. The first stage predicts each modal component and the second stage reconstructs the load forecast based on the predicted value of the previous stage. This paper takes actual data from New South Wales, Australia, as an example, and the results show that the method proposed in this paper can build the feature set reliably and efficiently and has a higher accuracy than the conventional prediction model. The load forecasting research for an NPS faces challenges including a high model accuracy, non-sharing of data, and a high communication cost. This paper proposes a load forecasting method for an NPS, based on efficient federated transfer learning (FTL). The adversarial feature extractor is added on the basis that FTL can effectively transfer the parameter features of the non-mask load to the local load data, and make up for the loss of mask load prediction accuracy. In order to improve the efficiency of the gradient compression of federated learning (FL), a depth dynamic threshold compression sensing method is proposed, which replaces the sparse signal in compressed sensing via the U-Net model and achieves an observation dimension reduction through a convolutional neural network (CNN). The experimental results show that the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) and the root-mean-square error (RMSE) of the load forecasting method proposed in this paper are reduced by 9.6% and 2.31 kW, on average, when the load data are covered up to different degrees. Compared with the traditional FL model, the proposed compression algorithm saves 23.5% of the communication cost, without changing the accuracy of the model. In recent times, the power sector has become a focal point of extensive scientific interest, driven by a convergence of factors, such as mounting global concerns surrounding climate change, the persistent increase in electricity prices within the wholesale energy market, and the surge in investments catalyzed by technological advancements across diverse sectors. These evolving challenges have necessitated the emergence of new imperatives aimed at effectively managing energy resources, ensuring grid stability, bolstering reliability, and making informed decisions. One area that has garnered particular attention is the accurate prediction of end-user electricity load, which has emerged as a critical facet in the pursuit of efficient energy management. To tackle this challenge, machine and deep learning models have emerged as popular and promising approaches, owing to their having remarkable effectiveness in handling complex time series data. In this paper, the development of an algorithmic model that leverages an automated process to provide highly accurate predictions of electricity load, specifically tailored for the island of Thira in Greece, is introduced. Through the implementation of an automated application, an array of deep learning forecasting models were meticulously crafted, encompassing the Multilayer Perceptron, Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), One Dimensional Convolutional Neural Network (CNN-1D), hybrid CNN–LSTM, Temporal Convolutional Network (TCN), and an innovative hybrid model called the Convolutional LSTM Encoder–Decoder. Through evaluation of prediction accuracy, satisfactory performance across all the models considered was observed, with the proposed hybrid model showcasing the highest level of accuracy. These findings underscore the profound significance of employing deep learning techniques for precise forecasting of electricity demand, thereby offering valuable insights with which to tackle the multifaceted challenges encountered within the power sector. Short-term load forecasting is an important prerequisite for smart grid controls. The current methods are mainly based on the convolution neural network (CNN) or long short-term memory (LSTM) model to realize load forecasting. For the multi-factor input sequence, the existing methods cannot obtain multi-scale features of the time series and the important parameters of the multi-factor, resulting in low accuracy and robustness. To address these problems, a multi-scale feature attention hybrid network is proposed, which uses LSTM to extract the time correlation of the sequence and multi-scale CNN to automatically extract the multi-scale feature of the load. This work realizes the integration of features by constructing a circular network. In the proposed model, a two-branch attention mechanism is further constructed to capture the important parameters of different influencing factors to improve the model's robustness, which can make the network to obtain effective features at the curve changes. Comparative experiments on two open test sets show that the proposed multi-scale feature attention mixture network can achieve accurate short-term load forecasting and is superior to the existing methods. Electrical load forecasting provides knowledge about future consumption and generation of electricity. There is a high level of fluctuation behavior between energy generation and consumption. Sometimes, the energy demand of the consumer becomes higher than the energy already generated, and vice versa. Electricity load forecasting provides a monitoring framework for future energy generation, consumption, and making a balance between them. In this paper, we propose a framework, in which deep learning and supervised machine learning techniques are implemented for electricity-load forecasting. A three-step model is proposed, which includes: feature selection, extraction, and classification. The hybrid of Random Forest (RF) and Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGB) is used to calculate features' importance. The average feature importance of hybrid techniques selects the most relevant and high importance features in the feature selection method. The Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE) method is used to eliminate the irrelevant features in the feature extraction method. The load forecasting is performed with Support Vector Machines (SVM) and a hybrid of Gated Recurrent Units (GRU) and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). The meta-heuristic algorithms, i.e., Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) and Earth Worm Optimization (EWO) are applied to tune the hyper-parameters of SVM and CNN-GRU, respectively. The accuracy of our enhanced techniques CNN-GRU-EWO and SVM-GWO is 96.33% and 90.67%, respectively. Our proposed techniques CNN-GRU-EWO and SVM-GWO perform 7% and 3% better than the State-Of-The-Art (SOTA). In the end, a comparison with SOTA techniques is performed to show the improvement of the proposed techniques. This comparison showed that the proposed technique performs well and results in the lowest performance error rates and highest accuracy rates as compared to other techniques. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nowadays, electric load forecasting through a data analytic approach has become one of the most active and emerging research areas. It provides future consumption patterns of electric load. Since there are large fluctuations in both electricity production and use, it is a difficult task to achieve a balance between electric load and demand. By analyzing past electric consumption records to estimate the upcoming electricity load, the issue of fluctuating behavior can be resolved. In this study, a framework for feature selection, extraction, and regression is put forward to carry out the electric load prediction. The feature selection phase uses a combination of extreme gradient boosting (XGB) and random forest (RF) to determine the significance of each feature. Redundant features in the feature extraction approach are removed by applying recursive feature elimination (RFE). We propose an enhanced support vector machine (ESVM) and an enhanced convolutional neural network (ECNN) for the regression component. Hyperparameters of both the proposed approaches are set using the random search (RS) technique. To illustrate the effectiveness of our proposed strategies, a comparison is also performed between the state-of-the-art approaches and our proposed techniques. In addition, we perform statistical analyses to prove the significance of our proposed approaches. Simulation findings illustrate that our proposed approaches ECNN and ESVM achieve higher accuracies of 98.83% and 98.7%, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
