Background: The global population is ageing rapidly and there is a need for strategies to promote health and wellbeing among older adults. Nutrition knowledge is a key predictor of dietary intake; therefore, effective educational programmes are urgently required to rectify poor dietary patterns. Digital health technologies provide a viable option for delivering nutrition education that is cost‐effective and widely accessible. However, few technologies have been developed to meet the unique needs and preferences of older adults. Objective: The aim of this study was to explore technology use among older adults and qualitatively determine the content needs and design preferences for an online nutrition education resource tailored to older adult consumers in Australia. Methods: Twenty adult participants aged 55 years and older (95% female) participated in one of four 2‐h participatory design workshops. In each workshop, prompted discussion questions were used to explore participants' technology use and preferences and to explore content needs and design preferences for an online nutrition education resource specific to older adults. Results: All participants were regularly using a range of different devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets and computers) and reported being comfortable doing so. Participants wanted a website that provided general nutrition information, practical advice and recipes. To enhance engagement, they sought a personalised resource that could be adjusted to suit their needs, included up‐to‐date information and allowed for easy sharing with others by exporting information as a PDF. Conclusions: Participatory design methods generate new knowledge for designing and tailoring digital health technologies to be appropriate and useful for the target audience. Specifically, older adults seek an online resource that has large and simple fonts with clear categories, providing them with practical advice and general nutrition information that can be personalised to suit their own needs and health concerns, with the option to export and print information into a paper‐based format. Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has had widespread impacts on the community and has demanded a rapid response from the aged care sector. System changes for infection control have been required including the use of personal protective equipment, lockdowns, visitor restrictions and changes to activities within aged care facilities. Even prior to COVID-19, the high physical and emotional demands of aged care work were recognised. Objective: This study sought to understand aged care workers' experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Using a pragmatic paradigm qualitative data about work experiences during COVID-19 was collected from people employed in different aged care organisations in a range of aged care roles and settings from multiple Australian states. Data was collected using focus groups and interviews conducted online between August-October 2020. Inductive thematic analysis was used to identify key themes in the data. results: Participants included 15 people working across a range of aged care roles including clinical, care and management staff and across both residential and community settings. Five themes were identified which characterised aged care workers thoughts about their jobs during the pandemic. These included intensified procedures and emotional demands, feeling undervalued and detached from the frontline, exposure of existing system deficiencies, recognising teamwork and increased confidence in technology. conclusion: Reflecting on aged care workers' experiences of COVID-19 highlights the need to better support workers and acknowledge their important role in caring for older Australians. This includes at an organisational level by providing supportive environments and access to online resources as well as at the community and policy level by recognising aged care workers as frontline workers. The COVID-19 pandemic has also highlighted existing systemic issues in the aged care sector that need to be addressed for the provision of quality aged care in Australia during the COVID-19 pandemic and into the future. What is already known about the topic? * While the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the global community, it is disproportionately impacting the aged care sector with higher rates of severe illness and death and wide-ranging system changes to prevent and control the spread of the virus. * Prior to COVID-19, aged care work was associated with high job demands and lack of access to resources to support aged care workers in their role. * Survey data on the Australian RACF workforce found workers felt prepared for the pandemic with a wide range of measures to control the spread of COVID-19 but they faced several challenges associated with their additional roles and restrictions. What this paper adds * This paper provides qualitative and descriptive insights into the challenges experienced by the Australian aged care workforce during COVID-19 including increased workloads and intensified emotional demands of their roles while at the same time feeling undervalued by the wider community. * This study has highlighted the need to better support and acknowledge aged care workers in the community through their portrayal in the media and within their organisations by facilitating supportive team environments and providing access to online resources and training. * This paper discusses existing systemic issues that have been highlighted by COVID-19 and the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety and need to be addressed for the wellbeing of workers and the provision of quality aged care. Objective: To explore factors that can influence implementation of a nurse-led model of care for early medication abortion provision in the primary healthcare setting of regional and rural Victoria, Australia. Background: Global research indicates that an increased involvement of primary healthcare nurses in the delivery of early medication abortion provision has the potential to improve abortion access. In Victoria, access in regional and rural areas is restricted despite abortion being legal. A nurse-led early medication abortion provision model is feasible and can potentially improve the current situation. Study design and methods: An online three-round classic Delphi method was used. This paper reports the qualitative findings. Non-probability sampling techniques were used to recruit a panel of professional experts. Data from the three questionnaires were collected and analysed using thematic analysis. Factors influencing model implementation were categorised into the Capability, Opportunity, Motivation-Behaviour framework. Results: A total of 24 medical and other health professionals participated. They identified a range of factors that can hinder model implementation, including a lack of affordable medication abortion education, no remuneration for nurse-led early medication abortion provision, and concerns related to stigma and support. Discussion and conclusion: Understanding and addressing barriers to model implementation may enable the development of primary healthcare nurses' role in the delivery of early medication abortion provision to improve abortion access. Impact: To improve abortion access in Victoria's under-served regions, the potential of nurse-led early medication abortion provision was explored. Barriers to model implementation relate to a lack of medication abortion education and funding, professional support and stigma concerns. The study identified a range of support elements that would enable primary healthcare nurses to develop new roles and responsibilities in the delivery of medication abortion services. What is already known about the topic? * Evidence indicates that appropriately trained primary healthcare nurses can provide early medication abortion and associated tasks as effectively, safely and satisfactorily as physicians. * Nurse-led early medication abortion provision is a worldwide recognised strategy to overcome the shortage of early medication abortion providers and to improve equity in access to abortion services. * The legal climate of Victoria allows qualified registered nurses to independently administer physician-prescribed early medication abortion drugs to women. Home telemonitoring has been used as a solution to support the care of individuals living with chronic disease. While effectiveness of telemonitoring have been widely studied, more research is needed to understand the perceptions among patients and clinicians in incorporating telemonitoring into their daily routine and practices. This paper presents an investigation of patients’ and clinicians’ experiences in a care augmenting telemonitoring service, their perceived impact delivered through the service, and clinicians’ perceptions on how the service was introduced in their organizations. This work was embedded in a large multi-site trial of home telemonitoring using a mixed method approach for evaluation. Interviews with clinicians involved in the study were conducted at multiple time points during the trial. Questionnaires were administered to clinicians and patients at the end of the trial. Results showed that both patients and clinicians recognized the benefits of patient empowerment through telemonitoring, and patient-clinician interactions. Results identified the needs of a dedicated telemonitoring clinical care coordinator role, guidelines that translate telemonitoring services into clinical pathways and engagement of different healthcare providers, especially general practitioners, to support the integration of telemonitoring into chronic disease management programs and long-term organizational strategic plans. Background: Using reflection tools benefits the ongoing development of clinicians. However, there is a paucity of instruments appropriate for reflection in audiology clinical education, despite the availability of such tools in other disciplines. This paper describes a tool - Improving Quality in Practice Placements - Allied Health (iQIPP-AH) Student Guide - for promoting self-reflection. Material and methods: A prospective, cohort study in Master of Audiology Studies students (n=23). The tool was applied as an assessment task within a clinical placement course, followed by descriptive analysis of quantitative responses and thematic treatment of qualitative responses. Results: Less than 75% of the cohort reported completing tasks associated with: (i) pre-reading in preparation for clinical placement; (ii) participation in team activities during placement; and (iii) provision of feedback to practice educators and universities post-placement. Major qualitative themes included lack of established learning goals, willingness to seek educator feedback, willingness to network and engage with other staff, desire to strive for independence, need for resume writing, improvement in clinical skills, and the intention to continue with reflection and proactivity. Up to 52% of students intended to take further action in relation to the tool's Quality Indicators. Conclusions: The iQIPP-AH Student Guide has the potential to be a useful reflective tool for students in audiology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

There is a dearth of scholarly analysis and critique of the Australian newsprint media’s role in the medicalization of child behaviour. To begin to redress this lack this paper analyses newsprint media’s use of metaphors that re/describe and construct realities of ADHD with a medicalizing effect. The interdisciplinary team used theFactivaTMdatabase to locate and review 453 articles published in Australian national and metropolitan newspapers during the decade 1999–2009. Data analysis involved generating statistical descriptions of the dataset according to attributes such as: date, state, newspaper titles and author names. This was followed by inductive analysis of article content. Content analysis revealed pervasive and striking use of metaphor in newsprint media reporting of ADHD content, especially when describing health professionals, educators, parents and children. This collection of metaphors was striking, and while the metaphors deployed were varied, this diversity seemed underscored by a common functionality that increased the risk that child behaviour was explained using medicalized knowledge. We contend that these metaphors collectively and coherently functioned to simplify and delimit meanings of children’s health and behaviour to favour depictions that medicalize problems of children and childhood.
