To quantify the impacts, case studies are conducted on the simulation platform for two different scenarios. • The impact on the electric power grid is evaluated in terms of voltage drops, maximum power demand, current, and voltage total harmonic distortion (THD) experienced by the corresponding transformer connected to the charging stations. • The results have revealed that random and fluctuating EV fast-charging loads pose much more intense impacts on the power systems than the normal EV slow charging loads. The era of the electrified transportation system is fast approaching. Although the socioeconomic and environmental benefits of electric vehicles (EVs) have contributed to their large-scale utilization, it has also created a huge load demand on the existing power grids throughout the world. A practical electrical grid of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia has been considered in this work to separately analyze the impacts of constant current (CC) and constant voltage (CV) charging modes upon the grid. Furthermore, design and modeling of three different commercial DC fast charger connections (CHAdeMO, SAE CCS, and ChargePoint Express 200), with separate CC-CV charging modes of the DC fast chargers have been incorporated. To quantify the impacts, two separate scenarios were examined using a simulation platform, with case studies conducted to determine the impacts on the power grid. The first scenario involved three fast charging stations, while the second scenario featured ten stations that were able to charge six and twenty electric vehicles respectively, with various load combinations considered. Each of these scenarios was analyzed under different conditions to evaluate their impact on the grid, using factors such as voltage drops, maximum power demand, current, and voltage total harmonic distortion (THD) for the transformer that was connected to the charging stations. The study results indicated that the power systems were affected more significantly by random and fluctuating EV fast-charging loads, compared to normal EV slow-charging loads. The transition from centralised, fossil fuel-powered generating units to distributed energy resources (DER) represents a significant step forward, offering numerous benefits. However, this shift also presents operational challenges for distribution network service providers (DNSPs) and the electricity markets. In this paper, we introduce our innovative solution for allocating network capacity in the form of operating envelopes, shaped to enhance customer participation in energy and reserve markets. Our approach also provides DNSPs with network support flexibility of DER which can be leveraged to either increase network throughput for market services or postpone network augmentation. This paper proposes an energy offering strategy for wind power producers. A new trading plan is presented through which a wind power producer can employ demand response (DR) to maximize its profit. To consider DR, a new DR scheme is developed here. The proposed plan includes two steps: The first step takes place on a day-ahead basis. The corresponding decisions involve an initial offering schedule and preliminary DR arrangements for the following day. The second step coincides with the day of the energy delivery. A consecutive approach is proposed in which the wind power producer determines its final energy offer during each trading interval. Simultaneously, the required DR agreements for that interval are also confirmed. This approach is repeated until all periods of the day are covered. The proposed plan is formulated as a stochastic programming approach, where its feasibility is evaluated on a case of the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

[Display omitted] To keep the balance between electricity demand and supply as well as infrastructure planning, it is important to accurately forecast the electricity demand. This has become a challenging task due to increasing share of renewable energy and prosumers (i.e. consumers who produce electricity) in the electricity grid. This paper develops a cooperative ensemble framework which divides the forecasting problem into several subtasks based on peak and off-peak conditions. Each subtask is then solved using multiple forecasting models that include classification and regression. The developed framework is finally validated on real-world operational demand across the National Electricity Market (NEM) of Australia. The performance is comprehensively compared against various state-of-the-art techniques in the field, which indicates up to 25.4% mean absolute error (MAE) improvement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
