This paper proxies Knowledge Management (KM) enablers as strategy and leadership, organisational culture, employees, IT and establishing a special unit in charge of KM. By surveying small and medium enterprises in Taiwan, the results indicate that the four enablers of strategy and leadership, organisational culture, employees and establishing a special unit in charge of KM are significantly and positively associated with non-financial performance in the learning and growth perspective, internal process perspective and customer perspective. The outcomes of the learning and growth perspective and the internal business process perspective have mediating effects between the KM enablers and the performance in the customer perspective. This paper thus recommends that small and medium enterprises set up infrastructures of KM to increase the performance in the non-financial perspective. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and other legislation enacted worldwide, effective information technology (IT) governance has become an imperative for many companies. To maintain effective supervision for keeping their organisation on track with its business strategy, top management need to understand their evolving roles in governance over IT by adopting relevant frameworks to assist the design and evaluate the performance of the company's IT systems. One commonly used framework is COBIT (control objectives for information and related technology) which provides guidelines and best practices to design and evaluate the performance of IT systems. For the purpose of sustainable development, green management has become an important social issue for many companies. Substantial scholarship has focused on corporate green behavior. However, little is known concerning how corporate green behavior is influenced by environmental uncertainty. This paper was aimed at analyzing the influence of perceived environmental uncertainty on the adoption of green practices for small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs). We conducted a questionnaire survey on SMEs in Taiwan and concluded that environmental uncertainty has a significantly negative influence on the decision to adopt green practices for SMEs. This paper examines the influence of leadership style, organisational structure, and market orientation upon export performance in order to provide suggestions for Taiwan's Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to improve their export performance by adjusting and adopting controllable, external, and internal factors. The empirical findings from 132 Taiwan's SMEs suggest that: (1) when instrumental leadership style is adopted, organisational structures exhibit higher formalisation, centralisation, and departmentalization; when supportive or participative leadership style is adopted, organisational structure exhibits lower formalisation, centralisation, and departmentalization; (2) leadership style, organisational structure, and market orientation all have impacts on export performance. Since the service-oriented ERP systems have become essential to SMEs, the service quality of IS characteristics and the user's internal expectations are considered the key factors of ERP success. With the purpose of understanding how service quality influences user's satisfaction through psychological constructs, based on the Social Cognitive Theory and the framework of D&M IS Success Model, this study starts from the point of service quality to create a conceptual research model. The model and relevant hypotheses are tested in a survey of 205 Taiwan SMEs with the ERP system. The results show that the most significant linkages between service quality and psychological factors are tangibles and personal outcome expectations, responsiveness and assurance and performance outcome expectations, and tangibles and performance outcome expectations. Nevertheless, only the construct of responsiveness and assurance has a significant positive correlation with computer self-efficacy. Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) play a vital and pervasive role in the current development of Taiwan's economy. Recently, the application of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems have enabled large enterprises to have direct contact with their clients via e-commerce technology, which has led to even fiercer competition among the SMEs. This study develops and tests a theoretical model including critical factors which influence ERP adoption in Taiwan's SMEs. Specifically, four dimensions, including CEO characteristics, innovative technology characteristics, organizational characteristics, and environmental characteristics, are empirically examined. The results of a mail survey indicate that the CEO's attitude towards information technology (IT) adoption, the CEO's IT knowledge, the employees' IT skills, business size, competitive pressure, cost, complexity, and compatibility are all important determinants in ERP adoption for SMEs. The authors' results are compared with research on IT adoption in SMEs based in Singapore and the United States, while implications of the results are also discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
