In this paper an approach for analysing the potential for implementation of different technology pathways for the European pulp and paper industry (PPI) is presented. The approach is based on detailed technical research and aggregates the knowledge from previous studies to incorporate the whole European PPI. Thus, the potential for different technology pathways can be estimated on a European level whilst still considering important characteristics of individual mills. The usefulness of the approach was exemplified by applying it to a case study of the potential for introduction of carbon capture and storage (CCS) within the European PPI. The results from the case study show that for the European PPI, CCS has an up-hill road in order to be a viable, large scale alternative for reduction of CO2 emissions. If CCS is to be introduced in large scale within the European PPI, large biomass-based point sources of CO2 emissions need to be included when planning for CCS infrastructure and also the infrastructure needs to be built out for clusters emitting <20 MtCO2/yr. OLED device performance is intricately linked to microscopic processes influenced by molecular properties, creating a complex interdependence. Two key material properties in the design of balanced devices are ionization potential (IP) and electron affinities (EA). In this work we discuss how measured quantities relate to relevant energy levels in OLEDs. We present a simulation approach to compute IP and EA, benchmarked against experimental data, to shed light on the complexity of these properties. Abstract: Ge CMOS is very attractive for the post size-scaled Si-CMOS. However, we have to tackle a number of challenges with regard to materials and their interface control. In this paper, we discuss gate stack formation and source/drain engineering, as well as their implications for the performance of n- and p-MOSFETs. Because the Ge interface is significantly degraded by the GeO desorption occurring at a relatively low temperature (∼500°C), it is very hard to control Ge gate stack formation by a simple thermal budget control. In addition, strong Fermi-level pinning at the Ge/metal interface is a big problem in source/drain engineering. After discussing ways to control this desorption and Fermi-level pinning at the interface in both p-FETs and n-FETs, we discuss our current status of both electron and hole mobilities. This document, titled "Intermolecular Charge Transfer for High-Performance Organic Light-Emitting Diodes," discusses the use of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) to achieve high-performance devices. Specifically, the authors designed and synthesized two new molecules, CzPh-1 and CzPh-2, which were found to form deep-blue exciple emission with a triazine-containing molecule, CzTrz, through effective intermolecular charge transfer. The photoluminescence spectra and time-resolved photoluminescence studies demonstrated the TADF characteristics of these materials. This research paper proposes an innovative Energy-Efficient Cooperative Virtual Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) Communication Protocol to address the growing demand for energy-efficient communication in wireless networks. The protocol combines the OLEACH (Optimized Energy-Efficient Cluster Head) Protocol and a Greedy Approach to enhance energy efficiency, data rates, and interference mitigation in cooperative communication. The paper provides a comprehensive analysis, including equations and models, to demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed protocol compared to existing schemes. By integrating the OLEACH protocol with the Greedy Approach, the proposed protocol achieves optimal communication and minimizes energy consumption in wireless sensor networks. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol, called greedy-OLEACH, exhibits a high Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) in low signal-to-noise ratio scenarios, indicating its effectiveness. Furthermore, comparisons with other clustering protocols such as LEACH, greedy-LEACH, and OLEACH reveal that greedy-OLEACH outperforms in terms of data delivery performance and remaining energy levels. This indicates efficient energy management and increased network longevity. The proposed protocol is scalable, robust, and secure, making it a promising choice for future wireless sensor network deployments. Abstract: We have studied Fermi level pinning (FLP) of Hf-based high-k gate stacks based on thermodynamics based on an O vacancy model. Our study shows that FLP cannot be avoided when the system is under thermal equilibrium. O exposure to aim O vacancy elimination is not effective, since O vacancy elimination condition is equivalent to the Si substrate oxidation which leads to the increase in Equivalent oxide thickness (EOT). We also studied the mechanism of FLP induced by the reduction with H2 anneal. FLP with H2 anneal is governed by the O vacancy annihilation reaction by reducing SiO2 interface layer. Abstract: Numerous metal oxides have been studied worldwide as possible high-k gate dielectric candidates for MOS devices on alternative semiconductor materials (Ge, III/V compounds). We will discuss thermal and plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition (ALD) of a few materials, HfO2 and Al2O3. We will spend some attention to characteristic features of the growth process and specific growth precursors as this is known to influence strongly the quality of the layer bulk as well as the interface. Detailed electrical characterization of MOS capacitors build on such dielectric layers, before and after forming gas anneals, shows that these interface modifications can lead to a marked decrease of the smaller interface state peaks close to the edges of the bandgap, whereas the larger mid-gap peaks are barely touched. The results of atomistic modeling of the oxidation of a GaAs surface help to understand the origin of these mid-gap electronic states, which are responsible for the apparent pinning of the Fermi level. A way of determining the flexibility of wood-pulp fibres is developed, which involves i) a precise measurement of the topology of single-fibres by using a confocal laser scanning microscope and ii) the measurement of the elastic modulus of the fibres by using a single-fibre fatigue cell. Reported in this paper are the initial results of tests carried out on black spruce fibres, which have been subjected to three different levels of mechanical refining energy, namely ∼1100, 2300, and 3500 kWh/t. It is found that the fibre flexibility rises significantly between the first and second energy levels, but it does not change to the same degree between the second and third ones. The described procedure of measuring the flexibility of fibres may be used to establish the appropriate refiner energy necessary for the production of a specific grade of paper. The primary objective of this work is to delve into the intricacies of allylic fluorination reactions through the application of density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The paper presents an in-depth analysis of the soundscape within Sarek National Park, the oldest national park in Europe, situated in Lapland, northern Sweden. The comprehensive acoustic measurements, ambisonic recordings, and 360○ video recordings were carried out during a scientific expedition in the summer of 2020. The aim of the paper is to show the soundscape analysis of carefully selected characteristic locations in various parts of the valley. The paper extensively discusses the findings derived from the recorded data using both classical acoustic methods and the soundscape approach. The classic acoustic parameters, commonly employed in environmental acoustics as well as eco-acoustic indices such as: ACI (acoustic complexity index), ADI (acoustic diversity index), AEI (acoustic evenness index), NDSI (normalized difference soundscape index), BIO (energy level of biophony), amplitude index (M), and total entropy (H) were calculated. To gain further insights, listening tests, facilitated through virtual reality tools, were conducted, enabling participants to engage in soundwalk experiences. By employing a combination of traditional acoustic methods and innovative soundscape approaches, the paper presents a holistic evaluation of the auditory environment in Sarek National Park. The main contribution of the presented research is providing new data from the unique, geographically inaccessible region of the world, the Sarek National Park. Datacenters are the primary driving force behind the energy shift to renewable sources. This shift limits the environmental impact of non-renewable sources and decarbonizes datacenters. However, renewable energy generation fluctuates with time and location, which introduces uncertainty in fulfilling user requests (URs). Thus, non-renewable energy generation continues to power the datacenters to make stability. Recent works direct to the use of renewable energy generation followed by non-renewable generation while assigning the URs to the resources of the datacenters. These works do not model the uncertainty of renewable and non-renewable energy resources and the level of uncertainty. This paper extends the three benchmark algorithms, namely future-aware best-fit (FABEF), highest available renewable energy first (HAREF) and round-robin (RR), by incorporating uncertainty and its level (UNL), and we call them UNL-FABEF, UNL-HAREF and UNL-RR, respectively. The goal of UNL-FABEF is to minimize the overall cost, whereas UNL-HAREF is to maximize the available renewable energy usage. On the contrary, UNL-RR assigns the datacenter to the URs in a roundabout fashion. This paper also introduces the UNL multi-objective scheduling algorithm (UNL-MOSA) to make a trade-off between UNL-FABEF and UNL-HAREF. UNL-MOSA creates a balance between the overall cost and the available renewable energy usage. All four algorithms consider three UNLs of URs, namely low, medium and high, for renewable energy resources. These algorithms are tested using fifty instances of ten datasets with 200 to 2000 URs and 20 to 200 datacenters and compared using five performance metrics: the overall cost, number of used renewable and non-renewable energy resource slots, and uncertainty cost and time. This paper describes a comprehensive energy-related dataset, collected from residential electricity households within an energy community in Ireland, as part of StoreNet project. The data includes local weather parameters and per household power (W) and energy (Wh) components for various aspects such as active power consumption, PV generation, grid import and export, charging and discharging, and the state of charge of energy storage. Additionally, it provides weather data for the location at a 1-minute temporal resolution for the year 2020. The dataset has been validated by comparing measurements that should yield identical results to standard load profiles, with no significant inconsistencies discovered. Validation examples have also been given through the published articles where this dataset has been used to analyse peer-to-peer energy trading benefits for the energy community and decision-making support for aggregators. The dataset aids in understanding patterns in electrical load curves and the duty cycle of energy storage within an energy community. The increasingly extensive use of non-linear loads, mostly including static power converters, in large industry, commercial, and domestic applications, as well as the spread of renewable energy sources in distribution-generated units, make the use of the most efficient power quality improvement systems a current concern. The use of active power filters proved to be the most advanced solution with the best compensation performance for harmonics, reactive power, and load unbalance. Thus, issues related to improving the power quality through active power filters are very topical and addressed by many researchers. This paper presents a topical review on the shunt active power filters in three-phase, three-wire systems. The power circuit and configurations of shunt active filtering systems are considered, including the multilevel topologies and use of advanced power semiconductor devices with lower switching losses and higher switching frequencies. Several compensation strategies, reference current generation methods, current control techniques, and DC-voltage control are pointed out and discussed. The direct power control method is also discussed. New advanced control methods that have better performance than conventional ones and gained attention in the recent literature are highlighted. The current state of renewable energy sources integration with shunt active power filters is analyzed. Concerns regarding the optimum placement and sizing of the active power filters in a given power network to reduce the investment costs are also presented. Trends and future developments are discussed at the end of this paper. In this paper, we investigate the Feshbach resonances of high partial waves and the influence of spin–spin (S–S) interaction on ultracold scattering processes. Taking the N a 23 - R b 87 system as an example, we plot the variations of weakly bound state energy and elastic scattering cross section with magnetic field and with collision energy. We find that the number of splittings in high partial wave Feshbach resonances does not strictly conform to the expected l + 1 (l is rotational angular momentum), and the deviation is attributed to the influence of bound states in other channels coupled by S–S interaction. For different ml (the projection of l on the external magnetic field direction), the effects of S–S interaction lead to different scattering patterns in the incident channels. These results reveal the complex features of ultracold scattering processes in high partial waves caused by S–S interaction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Interior design, a key strategy for boosting home comfort, can have an impact both on the efficiency of interior decorative design and on the level of energy usage. Nowdays, there are still many problems with interior design in China, including illogical design principles, poor material selections, high energy consumption of design schemes, and a failure to adhere to modern low-carbon design principles. The previous papers on the same research field were analysed and modulated a research gap. As people's economic position grows, they place more value on how a home interacts with its surroundings, which can reduce the environmental impact of house design and construction. The increasing reliance on electric vehicle (EV) charging in buildings requires balancing the load from other building systems to support the new demand. This paper uses a study case in a Near-Zero Energy Building (NZEB) educational facility located in the Brazilian Amazon to verify how much the energy efficiency (EE) measures would improve the existing ratings of the building and supply the expansion of EV demand. A comprehensive building energy load and energy performance analysis were conducted in four steps, following the mandatory Brazilian requirements for EE in public buildings, using measured data, computer modeling, and thermoenergetic analyses using OpenStudio version 1.1.0 and EnergyPlus software version 9.4.0. First, the EE retrofit measures were proposed and evaluated, targeting the air conditioning and lighting systems. Subsequently, an equation was elaborated to indicate the maximum level of energy consumption that could be increased without compromising the building's energy performance and NZEB classification. Finally, Open DSS software version 10.0.0.2 was used to simulate the increased availability of EV charging after the retrofit. With the proposed retrofit, the building improved the EE ratings by three levels, and the percentage of the NZEB rating increased by 33.28%. These measures also increased the EV charging load by 20%, maintaining the maximum EE level and the NZEB classification, although EV maximization reduced self-sufficiency by 9.78% compared to the retrofit-only scenario. In the N-body problem, it is classical that there are conserved quantities of center of mass, linear momentum, angular momentum and energy. The level sets M (c , h) of these conserved quantities are parameterized by the angular momentum c and the energy h, and are known as the integral manifolds. A long-standing goal has been to identify the bifurcation values, especially the bifurcation values of energy for fixed non-zero angular momentum, and to describe the integral manifolds at the regular values. Alain Albouy identified two categories of singular values of energy: those corresponding to bifurcations at relative equilibria; and those corresponding to "bifurcations at infinity", and demonstrated that these are the only possible bifurcation values. This work examines the bifurcations for the four body problem with equal masses. There are four singular values corresponding to bifurcations at infinity. To establish that the topology of the integral manifolds changes at each of these values, and to describe the manifolds at the regular values of energy, the homology groups of the integral manifolds are computed for the five energy regions on either side of the singular values. The homology group calculations establish that all four energy levels are indeed bifurcation values, and allows some of the global properties of the integral manifolds to be explored. The extensive application of vibratory roller compaction in construction has resulted in a requirement to increase the effectiveness of compaction. This paper investigated the effect of the moisture content and the compactive effort on the behaviour of granite particles under compaction. Results from experiments showed that particle crushing depends on the level of imparted energy rather than the number of passes. Increases in the moisture content is not noticeably beneficial to the particle crushing with sufficient compaction but will lead to larger surface settlements with the same imparted energy in the studied range. The relationship between energy consumption, environmental pollution, and economic growth has been the subject of intense research over the past few decades. However, empirical evidence remains scarce and with mixed results. This paper throws a new light on the nonlinear impact of environmental degradation on economic growth depending on the level of energy intensity. This study provides an original approach in the context of Malaysia by utilizing an innovative threshold regression approach suggested by Hansen (Econometrica 68(3):575–603, 2000), which allows the data to endogenously divided into two regimes with an exogenous threshold variable. We find strong evidence that environmental degradation has a nonlinear effect on economic growth in Malaysia. In particular, CO2 has a negative effect on growth, but only after the primary energy intensity reaches a threshold level of 91.33 tons of oil equivalent (TOE)/GDP and the final energy intensity reaches 51.56 TOE/GDP, respectively. Our results are robust in terms of ecological footprint. Several policy implications are highlighted which aim to encourage sustainable energy use for sustainable growth in the future. Determination of cosmological parameters is a major goal in cosmology at present. The availability of improved data sets necessitates the development of novel statistical tools to interpret the inference from a cosmological model. In this paper, we combine the principal component analysis (PCA) and Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method to infer the parameters of cosmological models. We use the No U-Turn Sampler (NUTS) to run the MCMC chains in the model parameter space. After determining the observable by PCA, we replace the observational and error parts of the likelihood analysis with the PCA reconstructed observable and find the most preferred model parameter set. To demonstrate our methodology, we assume a polynomial expansion as the parametrization of the dark energy equation of state and plug it into the reconstruction algorithm as our model. After testing our methodology with simulated data, we apply the same to the observed data sets, the Hubble parameter data, Supernova Type Ia data, and the Baryon acoustic oscillation data. This paper reviews observations on processes involving concentration gradients to show that (1) Concentration gradients can do external work during discharge if the system is arranged in a manner that requires it. (2) Work has to be done on the system (i.e. energy has to be added) to create a concentration gradient. (3) Concentration gradients can spontaneously discharge with no change in energy except interaction energy. These three observations are significant since, together, these observations demonstrate an apparent violation of the law of conservation of energy which is resolved by proposing that a probability field is a common element for all concentration gradients. This paper thus introduces two new concepts into thermodynamics: (1) Many spontaneous processes occur because of an increase in probability, not because of a decrease in the energy state of the system. Policies to address climate change have been implemented worldwide in recent years. The core of these policies is to control greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, which primarily stem from the consumption of fossil fuels. Consequently, the implementation of climate policies can affect other energy-related issues, such as energy poverty, a critical element of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This paper uses cross-country data from 2000 to 2020 to study the possible policy spillovers from climate actions to energy poverty. We show that a spillover effect does exist. In other words, a higher number of climate policies is associated with a lower level of energy poverty. The spillover is realized through improvements in energy efficiency, the promotion of renewable energy, and support for innovations. In addition, legislative policies are found to have stronger spillover effects. While the overall policy effects are positive for executive policies, regulations tend to have negative impacts on energy development. There is also evidence demonstrating heterogeneous effects between long-term and short-term policies, and between developed and developing countries. Discovering this spillover effect gives extra motivation for countries to adopt climate policies and actively seek synergies in achieving broader sustainable goals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, the effect of C, N and O atom doping of intrinsic MoSe2 on the adsorption capacity of Ni is investigated based on first-principle research methods. The aim is to analyze whether intrinsic MoSe2 can be doped and modified to improve its adsorption capacity of Ni so that it can be used as a new type of adsorbent material. By calculating and analyzing the energy band structure, density of states, differential charge and optical properties of each system, the conclusions are as follows: the O-doped MoSe2 system has the best adsorption capacity for Ni, and the adsorption capacities of the three systems are in the following order: O>N>C. The bandgap value of intrinsic MoSe2 adsorbed Ni-atom decreases, while the Fermi energy level of the C-doped MoSe2 adsorbed Ni-atom system is located in the valence band, which shows p-type doping. The differential charge of the system was analyzed and the charge transfer of the adsorbed system was increased by C, N and O atom doping, and the O-doped system had the strongest adsorption capacity for Ni. It was shown that the charge distribution between the system and the adsorbed Ni-atom changed considerably after atomic doping, and the bonds between the Ni-atom and the dopant atoms of the C-, N- and O-doped adsorption system were strongly ionic. Optical analysis reveals that C, N and O atom doping improves the charge binding ability of Ni-adsorbed MoSe2 material, which gives it a higher polarization rate and faster electric field response. The absorption of ultraviolet light is greatly enhanced, which can improve the efficiency of solar cells and convert solar energy into electricity more effectively. Overall, the Ni adsorption capacity of atomically doped MoSe2 is improved, indicating that doping can be an effective means to improve the adsorption of Ni-atom by intrinsic MoSe2. The rapid expansion of energy storage integration has not provided sufficient time to strengthen and expand the transmission and distribution network. This issue can lead to PCC congestion in green multi-microgrid (MMG) systems. In these systems, microgrids operate independently and connect to the grid at a point of common coupling (PCC) without sharing operational data with neighboring microgrids. To address this issue, this paper proposes a bi-level optimization model designed to reschedule hydrogen storage systems. The first level allows each microgrid to optimize its energy transactions with the grid and communicates any unbalanced energy to the second level, where a hydrogen management system (HMS) is introduced. The HMS optimizes virtual hydrogen prices to address the PCC congestion and maximize the MMG's profit. These virtual prices are then sent to the first level, allowing the microgrids to reschedule the hydrogen storage systems based on these virtual prices. Finally, the MMG's profit is fairly allocated among the microgrids using the Shapley value method. The proposed method's effectiveness is demonstrated using simulations, which show a six percent increase in MMG profit compared to scenarios that only share PCC capacity while maintaining the data privacy of all the involved microgrids. Potential photovoltaic technology includes the newly developed dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) and bulk heterojunction (BHJ) solar cells. Owing to their diverse qualities, polymers can be employed in third-generation photovoltaic cells to specifically alter their device elements and frameworks. Polymers containing phenothiazine, either as a part of their structure or as a dopant, are easy and economical to synthesize, are soluble in common organic solvents, and have the potential to acquire desired electrochemical and photophysical properties by mere tuning of their chemical structures. Such polymers have therefore been used either as photosensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells, where they have produced power conversion efficiency (PCE) values as high as 5.30%, or as donor or acceptor materials in bulk heterojunction solar cells. Furthermore, they have been employed to prepare liquid-free polymer electrolytes for dye-sensitized and bulk heterojunction solar cells, producing a PCE of 8.5% in the case of DSSCs. This paper reviews and analyzes almost all research works published to date on phenothiazine-based polymers and their uses in dye-sensitized and bulk heterojunction solar cells. The impacts of their structure and molecular weight and the amount when used as a dopant in other polymers on the absorption, photoluminescence, energy levels of frontier orbitals, and, finally, photovoltaic parameters are reviewed. A Fourier-transform recording of protactinium in the infrared range is reanalysed with high precision in order to determine the hyperfine interaction constants A and B. Starting with a selection of best lines and least-squares fits of hyperfine structure intervals, large systems of linear equations compare experimental hyperfine peak wavenumbers with a theoretical representation. The theoretical representation is based on Ritz's combination principle and Casimir's formula according to the existing classification. Weighted least-squares fits allow a discrimination between unperturbed and perturbed data such as blended hyperfine structure components. For the first time, the wavenumbers of the hyperfine components of more than 600 lines are fitted using the characteristics of about 250 levels as parameters. When adding adjustable wavenumber-scale correction parameters, global consistency for the whole IR spectrum is obtained with local limits of about 0.3 × 10 - 3 cm - 1 . This demonstrates the high precision in both recording and analysis. The values of the fine structure energies are revised. Standard errors around 0.1 × 10 - 3 cm - 1 for the A constants and 10 - 3 cm - 1 for the B constants and the fine structure energies are achieved. Representative examples illustrate extensive results obtained for atomic protactinium. This high precision facilitates further search for new energy levels, and 20 new levels were presented. Foreword The data presented here are the results of a study carried out at the Laboratoire Aimé Cotton (LAC) at Paris-Orsay in the years 2003 and 2004, when I was there for a research stay. At this time, I worked together with Jean-François Wyart and Annie Ginibre on the re-examination of protactinium spectra that have been measured about 30 years earlier and that were available in the form of a printed list of peak wavenumbers and a printed paper chart of the intensity profile. The spectra had already been analysed, but there was still a lot of additional information that could be extracted from the spectra with time and effort. The review of the data, the selection of the data and the step-by-step optimization of the data set took a lot of time. When I returned to Berlin in 2004, we had made good progress, but in principle, it is like a bottomless pit. We continued together to optimize the data and tried to the finishing touches to it. At some point, we decided that we had reached a 'level of maturity' where the data could be published. We have discussed a lot about how detailed the text should be. This discussion has dragged on over the years and this project has repeatedly been lost in the stream of other everyday tasks. Every now and then there was a small attempt to return to this topic, but it quickly got lost in the daily hustle and bustle. In 2012, we presented the results at a conference. The death of both of them within two years hit me hard. I very much regret that this work was not published earlier. This special volume was the right motivation for me to finally publish this data. I no longer have access neither to the computer programs used at the time, which ran on large computer systems, nor to the original measurement data. I have not been able to find out what happened to the large quantity of paper (printed list of peak wavenumbers anda printed paper chart of spectra). But I have a bunch of input and output files of the calculations that have become a bit jumbled over the years, which contain a lot of information, as well as our unfinished manuscript. The resulting data contain important information for posterity – particularly since the element is radioactive and the experiments to collect laboratory data are unlikely to be repeated any time soon. In the context of carbon peak and carbon neutralization, the Energy Impossible Tri‐ angle may be the key variable that restricts the high-quality energy development in China. Tak‐ ing 30 provinces in China as the research object, this paper established an evaluation index sys‐ tem of energy security and reliability, economic feasibility, green and low-carbon (hereinafter re‐ ferred to as "Security-Economy-Green"). By using the entropy method, coupling coordination degree model and kernel density estimation method, this paper comprehensively studied the de‐ velopment level of energy "Security-Economy-Green" in China from 2005 to 2019, as well as the temporal evolution, spatial differentiation and convergence characteristics of the coupling co‐ ordination degree. The results show that: ① In the aspect of the temporal evolution, from 2005 to 2019, the coupling coordination degree of energy "Security-Economy-Green" has been steadi‐ ly increasing, gradually rising from the mild imbalance level to the near imbalance level, and the polarization phenomenon has gradually weakened, but most of the periods are in the state of "mild imbalance". ② In terms of spatial differentiation, our country energy "Security-Economy)Green" coupling coordination degree shows certain spatial heterogeneity, presenting the spatial differentiation pattern of "high in eastern and western regions, low in central and northeast re‐ gions". No significant rank transition occurred in each region and energy spatial pattern has cer‐ tain locking characteristics or path dependence. ③ As for the space convergence, the nation and four regions have absolute β convergence and conditional β convergence characteristics, and en‐ ergy "Security-Economy-Green" coupling coordination degree will eventually converge to the same steady state level over time. The region with a low coupling coordination degree grows faster compared to the high, and the regional gap is narrowing. Taken together, there is indeed a certain Energy Impossible Triangle problem in our country at present, but according to the trend, this problem is being gradually alleviated. In order to achieve the "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" goals, we must vigorously develop renewable energy power generation. As the penetration of renewables progressively escalates, the corresponding demand for battery energy storage systems (BESS) within the power grid rises concomitantly. This paper presents an innovative optimization approach for configuring BESS, taking into account the incremental variations in renewable energy penetration levels and BESS charge‐discharge cycles. Employing incremental analytical techniques and pivotal metrics such as capacity elasticity, the proposed method determines the optimal penetration rate and corresponding BESS capacity outcomes for deploying energy storage systems. An example analysis of a rural power distribution benchmark is carried out by using the method in this paper, which proves the effectiveness of the method in this paper. This methodology was substantiated through its application to a case study of a rural power distribution benchmark, thereby validating its efficacy. Energy storage systems play a crucial role in the overall performance of hybrid electric vehicles. Therefore, the state of the art in energy storage systems for hybrid electric vehicles is discussed in this paper along with appropriate background information for facilitating future research in this domain. Specifically, we compare key parameters such as cost, power density, energy density, cycle life, and response time for various energy storage systems. For energy storage systems employing ultra capacitors, we present characteristics such as cell voltage, cycle life, power density, and energy density. Furthermore, we discuss and evaluate the interconnection topologies for existing energy storage systems. We also discuss the hybrid battery–flywheel energy storage system as well as the mathematical modeling of the battery–ultracapacitor energy storage system. An exhaustive review of the measured rovibrational transitions of the $ ^{16} $ 16 O $ ^{12} $ 12 C $ ^{32} $ 32 S isotopologue of carbonyl sulphide is undertaken. A comprehensive analysis of data from 100 papers is carried out using a consistent set of harmonic oscillator quantum numbers which are recommended for future studies. A corrected compilation of 14,071 OCS transitions is then subjected to a Measured Active Rotational-Vibrational Energy Levels (MARVEL) analysis, resulting in 5729 empirical energy levels. The carbon trimer, $ \hbox {C}_3 $ C 3 also known as propadienediylidene, is a quasi-linear molecule with an unusual electronic structure and a very flat bending potential in its ground electronic state. $ \hbox {C}_3 $ C 3 is an important species in astrophysics and carbon plasmas. Observed transition wavenumbers within and between the $ \tilde {X}\,^1\Sigma ^+_{\rm g} $ X ~ 1 Σ g + and $ \tilde {A}\,^1\Pi _{\rm u} $ A ~ 1 Π u states of $ \hbox {C}_3 $ C 3 are extracted from 21 papers and then subjected to a Measured Active Rotational-Vibrational Energy Levels (MARVEL) analysis: a corrected list of 4940 transitions are inverted to yield 1887 empirical energy levels. Uncertainties for these levels are determined using a newly implemented bootstrap method. These levels will provide input for developing a full spectroscopic model for $ \hbox {C}_3 $ C 3 which can used to generate a line list for the $ \tilde {X}\,^1\Sigma ^+_{\rm g} $ X ~ 1 Σ g + and $ \tilde {A}\,^1\Pi _{\rm u} $ A ~ 1 Π u states. Planar microwave bow-tie diodes on bases of selectively doped semiconductor structures are successfully used in the detection and imaging of electromagnetic radiation in millimeter and submillimeter wavelength ranges. Although the signal formation mechanism in these high-frequency diodes is said to be based on charge-carrier heating in a semiconductor in a strong electric field, the nature of the electrical signal across the bow-tie diodes is not yet properly identified. In this research paper, we present a comprehensive study of a series of various planar bow-tie diodes, starting with a simple asymmetrically shaped submicrometer-thick n-GaAs layer and finishing with bow-tie diodes based on selectively doped GaAs/AlGaAs structures of different electrical conductivity. The planar bow-tie diodes were fabricated on two different types of high-resistivity substrates: bulky semi-insulating GaAs substrate and elastic dielectric polyimide film of micrometer thickness. The microwave diodes were investigated using DC and high-frequency probe stations, which allowed us to examine a sufficient number of diodes and collect a large amount of data to perform a statistical analysis of the electrical parameters of these diodes. The use of probe stations made it possible to analyze the properties of the bow-tie diodes and clarify the nature of the detected voltage in the dark and under white-light illumination. The investigation revealed that the properties of various bow-tie diodes are largely determined by the energy states residing in semiconductor bulk, surface, and interfaces. It is most likely that these energy states are responsible for the slow relaxation processes observed in the studied bow-tie diodes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The existing battery management systems perform many functions, such as simply monitoring the battery's voltage, current, and temperature for the most basic and compensating energy imbalances between battery cells for the most advanced systems. In this last example, the function balancing helps protect the battery from obtaining a better lifespan. However, these systems with such functions remain complex because they involve techniques specific to power electronics and energy conversion. The number of components, implementation complexity, and cost increased. The work presented in this paper fits directly into this context. The main objective is to provide a solution to the problem of battery management and careful pack cell balancing. The proposed system aims to balance the battery pack cells based on the intermediate state of charge by charging or discharging the imbalanced cell. The integration of renewable energy sources in the European power system is one of the main goals set by the European Union. In order to ease this integration, in recent years, Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) have been introduced that aim to increase the exploitation of renewable energy at the local level. This paper presents an Energy Management System (EMS) for an industrial microgrid owned and operated by a greentech company located in the north of Italy. The company is a member of an REC. The microgrid is made of interconnected busbars, integrating photovoltaic power plants, a fleet of electric vehicles, including company cars and delivery trucks supporting Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G), dedicated charging stations, and a centralized battery energy storage system. The industrial site includes two warehouses, an office building, and a connection to the external medium-voltage network. The EMS is designed to optimize the operation of the microgrid and minimize the operating costs related to the sale and purchase of energy from the external network. Furthermore, as the company is a member of an REC, the EMS must try to follow a desired power exchange profile with the grid, suggested by the REC manager, with the purpose of maximizing the energy that is shared within the community and incentivized. The results demonstrate that, when minimizing only costs, local self-consumption is favored, leading to a Self-Sufficiency Rate (SSR) of 65.37%. On the other hand, when only the adherence to the REC manager's desired power exchange profile is considered in the objective function, the SSR decreases to 56.43%, net operating costs increase, and the energy shared within the REC is maximized. With the daily use of liquid cargoes such as crude oil and their derivatives, the global transportation of liquid cargoes has developed rapidly. Liquid cargoes are mainly transported via tankers and pipelines. In the liquid terminal, the handling operations and internal transportation operations are conducted using oil transfer arms and pipelines, and the pipeline path of the cargo is selected using valves. The number of times a valve opens and closes and the length of pipeline paths are the main factors that affect handling time and cost. In addition, different types of valves have different operating costs and levels of operating energy consumption. At this stage, most of the valve selection work is still manually completed, which consumes a lot of time and generates high labor costs, and the actual operation efficiency is low. In this paper, the cargo unloading pipeline path is the main research object, the problem of oil transfer arms–valves–pipeline (PAVP) is proposed, and a dual-objective model is established, accounting for total time in port and the unloading cost of the vessel. An NSGA-II-Dijkstra hybrid algorithm is employed to solve the PAVP, and the improved algorithm (INIIDA) is designed to improve the solution speed via an adaptive dynamic probability based on the Pareto level and heaps in the shortest path. The results show that the INIIDA could better address the PAVP than the NSGA-II-Dijkstra hybrid algorithm. Innovative fusion algorithms are employed to improve the efficiency of port operations. Dual-energy CT (DECT) imaging has broadened the potential of CT imaging by offering multiple postprocessing datasets with a single acquisition at more than one energy level. DECT shows profound capabilities to improve diagnosis based on its superior material differentiation and its quantitative value. However, the potential of dual-energy imaging remains relatively untapped, possibly due to its intricate workflow and the intrinsic technical limitations of DECT. Knowing the clinical advantages of dual-energy imaging and recognizing its limitations and pitfalls is necessary for an appropriate clinical use. The aims of this paper are to review the physical and technical bases of DECT acquisition and analysis, to discuss the advantages and limitations of DECT in different clinical scenarios, to review the technical constraints in material labeling and quantification, and to evaluate the cutting-edge applications of DECT imaging, including artificial intelligence, qualitative and quantitative imaging biomarkers, and DECT-derived radiomics and radiogenomics. This paper describes an effective operating strategy for electric vehicles (EVs) in a hybrid facility that leverages renewable energy sources. The method is to enhance the profit of the wind–thermal–EV hybrid plant while maintaining the grid frequency (fPG) and energy level of the EV battery storage system. In a renewable-associated power network, renewable energy producers must submit power supply proposals to the system operator at least one day before operations begin. The market managers then combine the power plans for the next several days based on bids from both power providers and distributors. However, due to the unpredictable nature of renewable resources, the electrical system cannot exactly adhere to the predefined power supply criteria. When true and estimated renewable power generation diverges, the electrical system may experience an excess or shortage of electricity. If there is a disparity between true and estimated wind power (TWP, EWP), the EV plant operates to minimize this variation. This lowers the costs associated with the discrepancy between actual and projected wind speeds (TWS, EWS). The proposed method effectively reduces the uncertainty associated with wind generation while being economically feasible, which is especially important in a deregulated power market. This study proposes four separate energy levels for an EV battery storage system (EEV,max, EEV,opt, EEV,low, and EEV,min) to increase system profit and revenue, which is unique to this work. The optimum operating of these EV battery energy levels is determined by the present electric grid frequency and the condition of TWP and EWP. The proposed approach is tested on a modified IEEE 30 bus system and compared to an existing strategy to demonstrate its effectiveness and superiority. This paper investigates the threshold voltage shift (ΔVTH) induced by positive bias temperature instability (PBTI) in silicon carbide (SiC) power MOSFETs. By analyzing ΔVTH under various gate stress voltages (VGstress) at 150 °C, distinct mechanisms are revealed: (i) trapping in the interface and/or border pre-existing defects and (ii) the creation of oxide defects and/or trapping in spatially deeper oxide states with an activation energy of ~80 meV. Notably, the adoption of different characterization methods highlights the distinct roles of these mechanisms. Moreover, the study demonstrates consistent behavior in permanent ΔVTH degradation across VGstress levels using a power law model. Overall, these findings deepen the understanding of PBTI in SiC MOSFETs, providing insights for reliability optimization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs), which are constructed using organic–inorganic combination resources, represent an upcoming technology that offers a competitor to silicon-based solar cells. Electron transport materials (ETMs), which are essential to PSCs, are attracting a lot of interest. In this section, we begin by discussing the development of the PSC framework, which would form the foundation for the requirements of the ETM. Because of their exceptional electronic characteristics and low manufacturing costs, perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have emerged as a promising proposal for future generations of thin-film solar energy. However, PSCs with a compact layer (CL) exhibit subpar long-term reliability and efficacy. The quality of the substrate beneath a layer of perovskite has a major impact on how quickly it grows. Therefore, there has been interest in substrate modification using electron transfer layers to create very stable and efficient PSCs. This paper examines the systemic alteration of electron transport layers (ETLs) based on electron transfer layers that are employed in PSCs. Also covered are the functions of ETLs in the creation of reliable and efficient PSCs. Achieving larger-sized particles, greater crystallization, and a more homogenous morphology within perovskite films, all of which are correlated with a more stable PSC performance, will be guided by this review when they are developed further. To increase PSCs' sustainability and enable them to produce clean energy at levels previously unheard of, the difficulties and potential paths for future research with compact ETLs are also discussed. Server energy consumption constitutes a significant portion of the overall energy usage in cloud data centers. Achieving energy optimization through tuning server parameter configurations is of paramount importance for energy conservation within cloud data centers. However, due to the diverse and dynamic nature of mixed workloads in cloud servers, achieving highly energy efficient server parameter configurations often necessitates continuous adjustments and optimizations in response to workload fluctuations. To tackle this challenge, this paper introduces an energy-efficient optimization method for cloud servers tailored to scenarios with mixed workloads, known as Energy-aware Parameter Tuning for Mixed Workloads (EPTMW). This method dynamically performs joint tuning of CPU frequency and system kernel parameters based on the operational status of the real-time workloads. Additionally, we evaluate EPTMW using benchmark workloads from BenchSEE and SERT. The experimental results demonstrate that EPTMW can enhance energy efficiency by 28.5 % compared to the energy efficiency level achieved under the default server parameter configuration, all while maintaining server performance. Urban energy issues have attracted global attentions due to the key role in controlling climate change. As one of the world's largest metropolises, Beijing has been focusing on improving urban energy performances to achieve green transition and sustainable development during the past decades, for which purpose the measurement and decomposition of energy performance is of vital importance. In this paper, exergy is introduced as one of the indicators under the frame of index decomposition analysis. An hierarchical framework is constructed to reveal the contributions from different level of urban energy system to overall energy performance. Beijing's energy and exergy consumption and intensity are then analyzed and compared from the city and sector level during 2008–2017. Results suggest that Beijing's city and sector-level energy performance has been improving during the last 10 years and technical improvements contribute significantly from both energy and exergy perspectives. Meanwhile, changes from Beijing's industrial structure and energy supply structure display neutral contributions, which probably indicate the underestimation of structural contribution is caused under the IDA framework. Aluminum powder particle size (D50) is quite important for how to improve the energy release level and formulation design of aluminized explosives. In this paper, four experimental samples of CL-20-based aluminized explosives with aluminum powder particle sizes including 2, 13, 24, and 43 μm were designed. The experiments were carried out through an underwater explosion tank and compared with explosives containing lithium fluoride of the same particle size. The results show that the burning of aluminum powder promoted the shock wave propagation and bubble expansion. Aluminized explosives have a lower and then higher decay rate than lithium fluoride-containing explosives. For the experimental range of aluminum powder particle sizes, with an increase in D50, the peak shock wave pressure first increased and then decreased, reaching the maximum at 24 μm; the shock wave and loss energy gradually increased, while the bubble energy, energy utilization, and underwater explosion total energy all gradually decreased. To a certain degree, the energy output structure can be regulated by adjusting the D50 under the premise of constant total energy of explosives. The experimental results improve our understanding of how D50 affects the underwater explosion parameters of aluminized explosives, which is of great significance for improving their energy utilization. In a previous paper [B. Poirier, J. Chem. Phys. 121, 4501 (2004)] a unique bipolar decomposition Ψ=Ψ1+Ψ2 was presented for stationary bound states Ψ of the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation, such that the components Ψ1 and Ψ2 approach their semiclassical WKB analogs in the large-action limit. The corresponding bipolar quantum trajectories, as defined in the usual Bohmian mechanical formulation, are classical-like and well behaved, even when Ψ has many nodes or is wildly oscillatory. A modification for discontinuous potential stationary scattering states was presented in a second, companion paper [C. Trahan and B. Poirier, J. Chem. Phys.124, 034115 (2006), previous paper], whose generalization for continuous potentials is given here. The result is an exact quantum scattering methodology using classical trajectories.
