This study evaluates the integration of the Professional Capability Framework (PCF) in England's social work education and its potential applicability in the Czech Republic. By conducting a comparative analysis, the research identifies gaps in the Czech framework and suggests tailored adaptations from the English model. Purpose of the article: This paper focuses on the issues of project manager competencies in corporate practice. It presents required project management competencies from the point of view of corporate management representatives - human resource managers. Methodology/methods: The paper introduces the outcomes of the research conducted in the chemical companies in the Czech Republic in 2019. The research involved 514 chemical companies that were active in manufacturing chemical substances; in total, 60 from the addressed number of respondents replied. Scientific aim: The scientific aim of this paper is to summarise the required project management competencies from the point of view of corporate management representatives. Findings: The article presents the most important requirements for the project manager's competencies, project manager selecting tools and tools for enhancing competencies. The specification of requirements on this position and their verification, the selection of project managers and education in area of project management are indicative of one of the possible practical forms of Career Systems for Project Managers. Conclusions: This paper identifies the required project management competencies from the point of view of corporate management representatives - human resource managers and tools usable for project managers' career development. The limiting factor of the paper is the scope of activity of the companies focussing solely on the chemical industry. Implementation of recommended tools and procedures in human resource management can bring a new dimension into corporate human resource management, project management, improvements in relationships in the teams, in the workplace, and broader possibilities of employee development. This paper explores the long-term persistence of interregional differences in self-employment rates. The analysis, based on spatial Durbin error models, was performed for 206 Czech regions from 1930 to 2011. The results obtained supported the 'persistence claim' because regional self-employment rates in 1930 were found to be positively and significantly associated with those obtained in 1991, 2001 and 2011. Moreover, this study contributes to the knowledge about transmission channels of historical entrepreneurial experience. First, a new mechanism related to the career and educational paths of individuals with a pre-socialist entrepreneurial family background is suggested. Second, the newcomers' capacity to absorb knowledge and skills is emphasized as crucial for the functioning of pre-socialist 'entrepreneurial memory'. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In recent years, we can witness a still growing interest in the method, sometimes called Telecollaboration, sometimes Virtual Exchange, not only in foreign language education but also in many other disciplines. Basically, this is a long online communication between groups of students or pupils from different geographical locations and different cultural contexts. The aim of this method is to help students gain intercultural experience and learn more about people from other countries, to improve and deepen their language skills and make them more active in physical mobility, both in formal and informal educational processes. As part of their schooling or academic training, learners also have the opportunity to acquire media competences (the so-called digital literacy), which means key competences for their future career in the globalized world of work. Purpose: This study aims to supplement the international knowledge on factors determining retention in the teaching profession with findings from the Czech Republic. The study aims to answer the question of what factors on the part of schools and teachers are related to teachers' decision to leave the teaching profession, either temporarily or permanently. It also examines the differences between teachers at the beginning and end of their professional careers. Design/methodology/approach: This study presents a secondary analysis of the data collected in a survey of 1,230 Czech secondary school teachers implemented in 2021 in the same schools as the TALIS survey in 2018. The longitudinal design makes it possible to observe the impact of school variables on teachers' willingness to remain in the profession. Data are analysed through logistic regression. Findings: The analysis shows the importance of sufficient financial evaluation, the composition of the student body, instructional leadership, and school innovativeness for the retention of teachers in the profession. The analysis further shows that the factors causing teachers to leave the profession differ for those at the beginning and at the end of their teaching careers. Research limitations/implications: The limitations of the study lie in the fact that this is a secondary analysis. The questionnaires were not designed in accordance with the aim of our study, and so the variables were constructed from existing data to best fit our chosen framework. Practical implications: The results of our analysis indicate that the Czech education policy should focus not only on general increases in teachers' salaries, but also on the adjustment of increases over the course of a teacher's career. The starting salary may be important for retaining young teachers in the profession, while at later stages in their careers their decision to stay may be more influenced by other factors. Our research also showed the importance of leadership. In schools where the principal supports his or her teachers and takes care of their professional development, teachers have a greater tendency to stay in the profession than in schools where the management does not perform this function. Originality/value: The study enriched international knowledge about factors affecting teachers' retention in the profession with findings from the Czech educational system characterized by high school autonomy and low teacher salaries. Investing in Human Resource Management (HRM), particularly in employee development through Further Education and Training (FET) at workplaces is a priority for most organisations. Our paper investigates how the participants perceive the effectiveness of particular FET methods based on an empirical study of 611 respondents from the millennial generation. The investigated sample consists of respondents employed at organisations operating in the Czech Republic. The results reveal that organisations are still regularly using certain traditional methods that do not correspond to the preferences of new employees (millennials) so are perceived as ineffective. The results should be useful for organisations seeking to adopt HRM policy and practice, particularly FET for the changes in the generation of employees. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article tries to evaluate the state of professional development and conceptualization of the issue of violent radicalization with the use of used diagnostic tools for detection of the process of violent radicalization. The author compares the selected models of radicalization and selected tools of radicalization detection used in prisons, while evaluating their application positives and negatives and drawing attention to their specific aspects of practical applicability of security practices. The theoretical framing of the chosen phenomenon of radicalization is based on the political-legal concept of militant democracy, the elements of which are applied to varying degrees in the anti-extremist and anti-radicalization policy of the states of Central Europe, including the Czech Republic. The aim of the contribution is a comparative analysis of the selected detection tools at the micro level, specifically the so-called structured protocols for assessing the risk of extremist violence. The author aims to provide a comprehensive and comparative overview of selected tools used in risk assessment through three dimensions: (1) the purpose of the tools; 2) basic methodology and structure of tools; and (3) the practical results of using these tools. Despite the use of radicalization identification tools, this method of evaluating predispositions to violent extremism is still in its infancy. Reflecting on the research questions raised, we can summarize that the purpose of the compared detection tools is the detection of risk levels that have led or could lead to violent extremism or terrorism in a person serving a sentence. This article deals with the results of two independent primary research studies in the field of the reinvestment activities of companies aimed at supporting employee education and training. Attention is focused on the reinvestment activities of companies and the direction of investment funds to individual areas with an emphasis on employee education and training. The article compares the situation before and after the first wave of the Corona crisis in the Czech Republic. Information on the structure and volume of corporate reinvestment is presented, as is information on reinvestment in employee development through selected training methods. The paper discusses research referring to a primary school teachers' professional performance diagnosis in the Czech Republic, Poland and Bulgaria. The sociological, economic and cultural aspects of young generations have changed significantly over the past two decades. Among the central factors that lead to the occurrence of these changes in the Czech Republic are demographic development, individualization and socio-economic transition. Some researchers argue that the transition to adulthood has become less normative, pointing to an accelerating process of individualization of the life course. In this paper, we explore adolescents' attitudes and opinions (12-15 years) pn the characteristics of future partner, the ideal age of partner, partnerships and career planning in the sense of the timing of life events - moving away from parental home, living together with a partner, participation in the labour market, entry into marriage and parenthood. Both quantitative and qualitative studies will be employed in the analysis - a quantitative survey carried out in the Czech Republic in 2007 and a qualitative study conducted in schools during 2010-2011. The paper focuses on under-graduate teacher education, specifically on its phases, which in the Czech context have not been sufficiently investigated yet: those of on-the-job professional learning and its support (during the so-called Clinical year, i.e., a year-long internship), and of subsequent reflection of the on-site experience back at university. Attention is paid to the forms of support provided by the key facilitators of future teachers' professional development - mentors at schools, i.e. to their roles, strategies and techniques adopted in the collaborative relationship with student teachers, as well as to their operationalisation in the form of specific intervention types. Background: The SARS-COV-2 virus has more than just an infectious role to play in the society. The rapid spread has also led to significant personal, professional, financial and economic recession globally. Health care professionals are getting seriously compromised due to these issues. No published data are available on the indirect effects of COVID-19 on high-risk medical specialties. Otorhinolaryngology is considered as one such specialty. Hence, we designed a national survey to address these issues. Materials and methods: A google questionnaire was sent to all the otorhinolaryngologists in Czech Republic with the help of the Czech Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery to evaluate the problems they encountered during the first wave of COVID-19. Personal, professional and financial losses were also addressed. Online access to the survey was from 15th April 2020 to 26th April 2020. Results: The psychosomatic indirect impact of the disease affected female doctors than males. Burnout syndrome was the most commonly reported problem. Around 44.75% of all doctors had a combination of health, financial and economic as well as professional development and educational issues. Doctors from private practices faced higher financial losses. Conclusions: Our study showed that personal, professional and financial disturbances amongst doctors can lead to more serious consequences. With the lack of drastic measures in improving the support system for healthcare workers, the healthcare systems will fail quickly. Adequate support should be made mandatory by health authorities.
