The South African Reserve Bank (the Bank) turns ninety in 2011, which makes it the fourth-oldest central bank outside Europe. This paper reviews the institutional history of the Bank since 1921. The conclusion is that the institutional structure of the Bank had to be revised periodically to ensure alignment to changing domestic and international developments and challenges. Abstract
The article provides information about Absa Bank, the leading bank in South Africa and which won the predictive analytics category in the Society for Information Management paper competition. The bank won the category for its business intelligence and data warehousing practice and has been recognized for its Information Management Group for its management and use of information. To further highlight Absa Bank's excellence in information management, its operations were compared with other business intelligence and data warehousing in North America and Europe.
