In this paper we propose a model to study the learning process of one student during a course. We formulate a stochastic model based on the quality of the teacher's class and the affinity of the student to understand the sessions, under the assumption that previous sessions have some influence in the understanding of the next sessions. The afore mentioned assumption implies that the process is not a Markov process. We derive some recursive expressions for the distribution of the number of sessions that the student comprehends. Furthermore, we study the convergence of this distribution and illustrate its speed of convergence through some numerical examples. Finally, we apply these results to propose a methodology to estimate the quality of this kind of courses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The first section of this paper focuses on the importance of negotiation processes related to research and evaluation. This importance is based on five issues: ethics in production processes, knowledge scope, rigorous inquiry, efficiency of development- oriented findings and strategy to maintain contexts in which research and participant learning can take place. The different phases of the negotiation process are also presented: initial, processing and reporting, the last one of special importance. The requirements, types, characteristics and operation processes of the reporting phase are discussed. The second section of this paper provides in the form of an example a specific case of negotiation from a qualitative investigation about immigrant familie's participation at school. In future society, a great deal will be demanded of people in general, with acquiring knowledge and applying it to different fields being considered to be the major factors influencing development. Nowadays, the new role played by teachers includes adopting different approaches to competence acquisition and assessment, active engagement in managing educational institutions, and collaborative working. Changes to education have been more focused on competence-based education and training in Latin America, especially Chile, which is why this paper is aimed at reflecting on it. The present paper explores the educational potential in the application of techniques, elements and tools from interactive games. At the same time it would expose clear evidences of how these would impact on the learning of users. Videogames are capable of introducing more personalized learning experiences to specific learners, as well as heuristic try-and-error methods that would lead to goal achievements. These knowledge systems, either propositional or procedural, imply a constant search for solutions and alternatives to given problems. What is the nature of this educational videogames? How and to which extent have they been introduced into the education system? What subjects can we really develop in this regard? Neurosciences are a set of disciplines which aims to research the nervous system, focusing on brain functioning in relation with our behaviors. Neurosciences not only address the neurobiological issues of behavior but also rely on cognitive psychology, linguistics, anthropology and artificial intelligence. Neuroeducation, also called educational neuroscience, is an expanding discipline that aims to study brain development and its neurobiological foundations by optimizing teaching and learning process. Through analyzing some classic and current contributions of the neurosciences to the educational area, this paper proposes to review neurosciences' contribution to the educational field, establishing at the same time critical and future ways to get even closer relations between them. Then, we conclude that although the neuroeducation contributions are varied and we expect advances in this area derived from new technologies, we must be cautious and critical when analyzing or putting them into practice, since research must be generated with greater ecological validity, in educational environments with human beings with analysis at different levels, without ignoring the interdiscipline. This paper analyzes the influence of the use of ICT and the importance of teamwork for marketing subjects in business studies. The central theme of this paper is to identify whether the use of ICT in groups enhances the learning of the marketing discipline, as well as students' social skills. At the University of Granada, we conducted a questionnaire to 784 students over three academic years (2006-2009) with the aim of evaluating the influence of using the Markops Online simulator on the student's learning process. The results show how students perceive that the use of these tools, although requiring greater effort than conventional case studies, provides them greater satisfaction, increases their interest in the learning process and helps developing social skills. Introduction: In 2006, the Nursing School of the University of Chile began changing the teaching plan from a learning objective syllabus to one based on competencies; this implementation began in 2013. Objective: This paper aims to present a summary of a research carried out from 2010 to 2013 by the syllabus innovation commission of the Nursing School from the University of Chile in order to implement a syllabus based on competencies Methodology: It presents the different phases that require the integration of different actors, per se; the academic school staff, external teachers to it, employers, graduates and students from the nursing program as well. Conclusions: This experience allowed thinking about some of the paradigm changes required in this process, such as the student at the learning center, with dynamic and proactive participation of them, the agreement on using a different language, with innovative methodologies that aim to a meaningful learning. This paper addresses the concept of inclusion as a characteristic of education from a human development perspective. In this light, it discusses the social state, citizenship rights, and economic hegemony in the context of globalization as forces that promote mechanisms of exclusion, including poverty, elitist policy measures, ethnic discrimination, cultural segregation, and the participation of international organizations in national political and economic decisions, among others. Thus, the paper places administration of the welfare state within a social structure. Also, the paper considers school as an area of interaction between individuals that promotes a humanistic system of education for all people. Moreover, it aims to create a sense of unease in the reader by outlining different theories of inclusion versus exclusion and shedding light on the substantial differences in commitment to education administration at the national level as reflected in different economic, political, cultural, and social strata. The paper emphasizes the purpose of an inclusive approach to education as part of the effort to achieve quality in education administration. It then defends inclusive education centers, where students' individual learning needs are considered through holistic curriculum development and where ever-changing human interactions are taken into account in order to seek more effective administrative strategies and projects that decisively address changes in education. In this way, problems are solved in an altruistic and holistic manner that implies a dynamic, democratic, and multi-faceted role for the reader, as well as commitment on the part of administrators of educational organizations, and leads to proactive administration. In the early 90s a movement began in education called "brain-based learning" that attempted to link neuroscience and education. However, many in both science and education felt it was untenable to make this leap. While early attempts to bridge the fields sparked controversy, it can now be argued that neuroscience does have a role to play in education reform. This paper explores suggestions for the appropriate training of the Educational Neuroscientist, broad interventions based on Educational Neuroscience that could reform curriculum, and emerging ways the Educational Neuroscientist can inform professional development of educators. This paper describes an educational simulator developed in the software Engineering Equation Solver to simulate the behavior of a vapor compression system. The application is focused on educational purposes, specifically for handling skills in refrigeration facilities by students in engineering careers. Using this simulator, the students are able to analyze easily the influence of the measured parameters (such as the compressor rotation speed, volumetric flow rates and temperature of the secondary fluids) on the energy performance of the facility and its components. The virtual test bench consists of a primary screen showing a general scheme of the vapor compression facility with input and output parameters. From this primary screen, the performance of the main components can be analyzed. Finally, this virtual test bench was tested by engineering students, concluding that the simulator is an interesting tool as improvement and support for learning in different subjects. The practice of qualitative research goes beyond procedures and techniques. In health care it is acknowledged as a specialized area bearing ethical and emotional components. Training in qualitative research implies both intellectual work and the task of molding a character; in other words: a way of being. In this kind of research, the question involves both being and doing. This paper invites to reflect on the training of qualitative researchers. Learning qualitative research is a situated and reflexive social practice in which tacit and formal knowledge must be gathered. There are at least four conditions promoting its learning: 1) time -its study must be constant-2) failure, 3) relationships with others in a collaborative environment and 4) a master acting as a mediator between tacit and explicit knowledge. These conditions occur within the execution of a research project. However, there are three difficulties that educators and students of qualitative research commonly face: 1). the context of training, 2). pre-conceived ideas and 3). the need to sustain the desire to know over time. This paper aims to show the advantages, disadvantages and characteristics of electronic education through the implementation of LCMS (Learning Content Management System). It also illustrate the architecture and components of a learning content integration system through Web 2.0, which can manage learning contents, e-learning contents, learning objects and individual actives such as images, animations and videos. It includes a repository where these components are stored, authoring tools or integration with them, a tool to publish courses, communication and collaboration tools for the task force that developed the course content and the ability to integrate with an LMS. This will seek to integrate CMS and LCMS functionality, Web services, navigation, content, updating and retrieval of information, improving end-user experience in elearning approach. This research paper has two purposes: a) To describe the demographic features, family history, social affective factors and academic performance in fourth-semester students enrolled in day and night courses in the department of Psychology at the university, in order to define the Psychology students' profiles and b) To understand students' relationships between demographic and social affective aspects compared with their academic performance. This research aims to establish the relationship between academic performance and students' affective factors. There is no evidence of prior studies of these affective factors. A questionnaire about associated factors is designed and given to 122 fourth-semester students. The answers, factors, and indices are designed using statistical Winsteps and Rasch models in order to establish the relationship between factors and academic performance. AMOS, which allows the analysis of the relationship between factors and academic performance, is used as a tool to understand the impact of such relationships. The questionnaire given to the psychology students in this study supplied useful information using indices and factors to create psychology students' profiles. The explanation of these factors about student performance is useful when the information is analyzed and takes into account sex and socio-economical levels, and not the whole group in general. In this paper we reflect on the relationship of games, cognitive development and educational processes during a time of profound technological change. Specifically, we consider the role of videogames in knowledge construction and in children's education. By studying both the logic of video games and how players understand them, we can develop interesting ideas for re-thinking theories on knowledge and education. Primarily, this text analyzes the role of video games in the world of play in order to delve into its unique narrative models. Finally, we evaluate their virtual features for learning and education in general, then focusing on the risks entailed. The introduction of video games in education has raised a number of possibilities, but also problems and doubts about the true potential. This built-in progressive scan the classroom process has put on the table a number of problematizations about how and why you can use video games to teach. The purpose of this paper is to make a small mapping on the subject, where we board the notion of serious games and some educational experiences that have used these tools in educational contexts.
