While video games can be helpful in personal development, participating in certain gaming activities may lead to negative effects such as video game addiction. The overuse of computer games, which can lead to reduced quality of life and affect a person's practical skills. Around 3% of adolescents suffer from Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD), there is currently no universally accepted psychometric method. The AICA-S scale was applied to results from 3,901 respondents aged between 11 and 19. During the 2017/2018 school year, a battery of questionnaires in "pen and paper" form was administered to students at primary schools and secondary schools. The respondents were selected from all the regions of the Czech Republic through a random stratified selection to ensure that the respondents were an accurate representation of students across the Czech Republic. The results were obtained using statistical methods such as ANOVA, chi-square tests and t-tests. These results affirm the psychometric quality of AICA-S and note the prevalence of IGD among Czech adolescents. Based on our results, 0.8% of our respondents fulfilled the criteria for an IGD. Evidence is accumulating of the negative impact of the COVID‐19 pandemic and related public health measures on mental health. In this emergent field, there has been little research into the role of risk perception on depressive symptoms and the contribution of health‐care resources to model risk perception and mental health. The aim of this paper is to describe the relationship between individual‐level perception of risk and depression, controlling for a set of confounders and for country‐level heterogeneity. A cross‐sectional and observational online survey was conducted using a non‐probability snowball sampling technique. We use data on 11,340 respondents, living in six European countries (Italy, Sweden, United Kingdom, France, Poland, Czech Republic) who completed survey questionnaires during the first months of the pandemic. We used a fixed‐effect approach, which included individual and macro‐level variables. The findings suggest that a high proportion of people suffering from depression and heightened risk perception is positively associated with reporting depressive symptoms, even if this relationship varies significantly between countries. Moreover, the association is moderated by contextual factors including health‐care expenditure as a percentage of Gross Domestic Product, hospital beds for acute care, and number of medical specialists per head of population. Purpose: We aimed to study the association of educational attainment with occurrence of mental disorders in the Czech Republic.Methods: Data were derived from the CZEch Mental health Study (CZEMS), a cross-sectional study of community-dwelling individuals. Mental disorders were assessed with Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (M.I.N.I.), and information on completed education was acquired as a part of a paper and pencil interview. Logistic regression was used to estimate odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) for the association of educational attainment with all mental disorders as well as with specific groups (affective, anxiety, alcohol use and substance use disorders), stepwise adjusting for socio-demographic, social and health-related characteristics.Results: We studied 3175 individuals (average age 50 years, range 18-96 years; 54% women). Compared to individuals with higher education, those educated below high school graduation had higher odds of mental disorders (OR 2.07; 95% CI 1.58-1.71), even after adjustment for all covariates (OR 1.64; 95% CI 1.21-2.23). Education showed the strongest association with alcohol use disorders, even when covariates were adjusted for, but was not related to anxiety disorders. The association of education with affective as well as substance use disorders was explained by covariates.Conclusions: Interventions aimed at reducing the burden of mental disorders should target individuals with low education. An increasing number of studies have focused on the topic of Roma communities and social exclusion in the Czech Republic, however, substance use has been surveyed only marginally. This paper brings new data on the patterns of substance use among Roma population in contact with social workers (546 respondents). Substance use, including daily smoking and regular excessive alcohol drinking, has been 2–6 times higher among Roma compared to the general population. Current illicit substance use was reported by 1/3 of the respondents (46.7% of males, 17.8% of females) with cannabis (27.1%) and methamphetamine (11.9%) being the most reported substances. The intent of this paper is to provide empirical evidence of determinants on new business formation in the Czech Republic's regions in the period 2003 to 2014. The results suggest that the regions with strong entrepreneurial culture, measured by a high proportion of entrepreneurs in the population, and with a strong presence of foreigners, had higher rates of new business formation. A positive influence of agglomeration economies was observed, and the impact of unemployment was negative. However, the results were not consistent when more advanced legal business forms (especially limited liability and joint-stock companies) had been used in the dependent variable. In this case, human capital was the overriding factor determining regional differences in new business formation rates, while entrepreneurial culture and the presence of foreigners were not significant. Background: Significant declines in adolescent alcohol use have recently been observed in Europe. Growing research has focused on explaining the ongoing changes. The aim of the paper was to analyze to what extent the changes in unorganized leisure-time activities, especially a decline in socializing with peers, have affected recent changes in adolescent alcohol use in the Czech Republic. Methods: Samples of 15–16-year-old adolescents, surveyed in 2011 (N1 = 3,699) and 2015 (N2 = 2,738) ESPAD studies, were analyzed. A structural equation model was constructed for boys and girls separately to test the mediating effect of changes in the frequency of going out with friends on decline in adolescent binge drinking and alcohol intoxication. Results: The decline in the frequency of going out with friends explained a major part of the decline in alcohol use. The mediating effect was confirmed in both binge drinking and alcohol intoxication, and more pronounced among the girls (65.4–99.6%) compared to boys (51.1–62.7%). Conclusion: Recent changes in unorganized socializing with peers have had a significant effect on alcohol consumption among adolescents. Future research should focus on more in-depth analysis of the complexity of the relationship between face-to-face peer contacts, intensive electronic media communication, and adolescent alcohol use. Aim: To assess the perceived health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in hospitalized patients with rheumatic diseases and to determine whether selected characteristics can affect their perceived quality of life. Design: A cross-sectional study. Methods: Data were collected between September 2022 and March 2023 using the standardized instrument to measure HRQoL, namely the RAND 36-Item Health Survey (SF-36). The sample consisted of 170 patients with rheumatic diseases hospitalized in a teaching hospital in the Czech Republic. Results: The average perceived HRQoL was 34.94 (SD = 17.06), indicating poor quality of life. The most highly rated subscale was 'emotional well-being' (56.02 ± 15.71), and the lowest rated subscale was 'role limitations due to physical health' (11.76 ± 28.54). The HRQoL subscales were significantly correlated with Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score, self-care activities, pain severity, age of the patients, and length of hospitalization. Differences in HRQoL were identified based on education, social status, use of compensatory aids, attendance at social events, and history of falls in the past year (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The study contributes to the existing body of knowledge on the subject, but also underscores the importance of considering holistic factors when evaluating HRQoL in individuals with rheumatic diseases. Aim. The primary purpose was to map the opinions and experiences nurses acquired during the COVID-19 pandemic, identify significant problems that need to be addressed before the next pandemic, and determine the prestige of nurses before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Material and methods. The design was descriptive and cross-sectional. A representative sample using sociological research methods was conducted using a non-standardized questionnaire. The sample of nurses was constructed using quota sampling; its structure corresponded to the composition of the overall nursing population in terms of age, sex, and region. The sample consisted of 1197 nurses. Results. The most significant changes reported by nurses during this period include increased physical workload (89.6%), changes in social (88.4%), and personal lives (76.7%). According to respondents, the prestige of their profession increased during the pandemic compared to the period before the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the two-tailed t-test, the prestige of the nursing profession increased statistically significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to the pre-pandemic period. Conclusions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, nurses experienced increased physical stress and changes in their social and personal lives. Background and Purpose: Nursing students have an essential role in patient safety. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the face validity, content validity, and psychometric properties of the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture for Nursing Students (HSOPS-NS). Methods: The cross-sectional study was carried out between January and October 2021. The participants were undergraduate nursing students (N = 482) from 16 Czech nursing faculties. Results: Exploratory factor analysis revealed an 8-factor structure, which was verified by confirmatory factor analysis using the optimization process that results in adequate goodness-of-fit indices (root mean squared error approximation =.037; standardized root mean squared residuals =.056; comparative fit index =.935; Tucker–Lewis index =.926; incremental fit index =.936). The internal consistency of a new model was excellent (α =.914). Conclusion: The results indicate that the HSOPS-NS shows evidence of reliability and validity and is a valuable measure of safety culture as perceived by nursing students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: To analyze the psychometric properties of the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (HSOPS) in internal care units at a specific teaching hospital in the Czech Republic. Design: The paper has the character of a cross-sectional validation study. Methods: The study was conducted between November 2015 and January 2016. The convenience sample consisted of 207 registered nurses working in internal care units at a specific faculty hospital in the Czech Republic. Analysis of the psychometric properties of the HSOPS was conducted using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and reliability testing. Results: Acceptable psychometric properties of the HSOPS were verified in our study. We confirmed 12 components of the HSOPS, the same number stated in the original version from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). The reliability of the instrument was evaluated using the Cronbach alpha coefficient, and is considered acceptable. Conclusion: These findings can help healthcare institutions to raise awareness of patient safety culture and to gain a comprehensive overview of the individual dimensions of patient safety culture. Background: This paper provides a first comparative exploratory analysis of our findings from DEMDATA, a collaborative project between Austria and the Czech Republic. Analysed here are data from the residents and the environment assessment protocol.Methods: In a cross sectional study design, residents from randomly drawn and stratified nursing homes were investigated using a common study protocol.Results: From a total resident pool of 1666 persons, 1085 (571 in Austria, 514 in the Czech Republic) persons signed a consent form and participated in the data collection. More than 70% of residents assessed were female and the population was on average 85 years old. A discrepancy between the presence of a medical diagnosis in the charts of the residents and the results of cognitive testing was found. In Austria, 85.2%, in the Czech Republic 53.0% of residents had cognitive impairment. In Austria 80.0%, and in the Czech Republic 56.7% had behavioural problems. With respect to pain, 44.8% in Austria, and 51.5% in the Czech Republic had mild to severe pain. 78.4% of Austrian and 74.5% of the residents had problems with mobility and both populations were in danger of malnutrition.Conclusions: Most of the prevalence rates are comparable with previous studies also using direct resident assessment. Variations in prevalence rates seem to result mainly from the assessment technique (direct cognitive testing vs. medical chart review). The high prevalence rates for dementia, behavioural symptoms, pain and malnutrition indicate an immediate call for attention to further research and practice development. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to evaluate the moderating role of social media influence before and after the trip in Vietnam and Czech Republic. Primary data, gathered during time lag data surveys conducted among international tourists travelling to the Czech Republic and Vietnam, was analyzed with the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) in R. The findings revealed that social media influence with higher level positively strengthened the connection between tourist motivation and the post trip destination image. Furthermore, social media had a significant moderating effect on the relationship between tourist satisfaction and ecotourism loyalty. However, there are strong differences between the destinations of developed and emerging economies. For Czech Republic, as developed economy, social media influence plays a more important role as a value-expressive mechanism at the post-trip stage whereas for the developing economy of Vietnam, social media plays a more important role as an information source before the trip. This study extends the Expectation Confirmation Theory (ECT) by introducing the moderating effect of social media influence, which first time measures this moderating effect before and after the trip accounting for the dynamic nature of the destination image as an antecedent of ecotourism loyalty. Aim. The aim of this multicenter study was to analyze the reporting of the adverse events and health care-associated infections (HAIs) in relation to work environment. Material and methods. This cross-sectional multicenter study was conducted in 14 acute care hospitals throughout the Czech Republic. A total of 105 acute care hospital wards were included in the study. The Practice Environment Scale of the Nursing Work Index was used to assess the practice environment. The questionnaire to assess the practice environment were completed by 805 nurses. The data on adverse events and HAIs were weekly reported. Results. The overall mean number of adverse events including healthcare-associated infections was 27.7 (±36.10) per 100 patients, the most frequent being pressure ulcers and falls. The most frequent healthcare-associated infections were urinary tract, gastrointestinal tract and surgical site infections. Analysis of all adverse events and HAIs failed to confirm a statistically significant relationship between the nursing practice environment and occurrence of adverse events or healthcare-associated infections. Conclusions. Adverse events and healthcare-associated infections are important indicators of quality of care in hospitalized patients. Background: The perception of the quality of care provided by the medical institution to patients is directly affected by the job satisfaction of nurses. The feeling of job satisfaction is caused besides other things by the subjective expectations of employees about what their work should provide them with in return. The aim of the study is to evaluate and compare job satisfaction of hospital nurses in the Czech Republic in 2011 and 2021 by identifying differences between their personal preferences and perceived saturation. Methods: The respondents are hospital nurses in the Czech Republic in 2011 and 2021. A developed questionnaire was used to determine the job satisfaction factors. The order of factors of personal preferences, perceived saturation and differences between them was compiled. For evaluation was used the Euclidean distance model that enables to capture the order and determine the significance given by the distance in which the factors are located. Results: At the top of personal preferences of hospital nurses, the factors salary and patient care are in the first two places with a similar distance. The salary factor is the most preferred by hospital nurses in both evaluated periods, and at the same time there is the greatest discrepancy between personal preferences and perceived saturation. By contrast, image of profession and working conditions were sufficiently saturated by the employer in both periods, but nurses do not significantly prefer these factors. Conclusions: The salary and patient care (i.e. the mission of the nurse's work itself) are at the top of personal preferences of hospital nurses, with an exclusive position among other factors. We consider it important that the hospital management emphasizes them in the management of hospital nurses. At the same time, the patient care is perceived by the hospital nurses as one of the most saturated factors - in contrast to salary, which is located at the complete opposite pole as the least saturated factor and therefore emerges from the mutual comparison as the factor with the greatest degree of divergence. Aim: To provide initial data regarding country‐specific evidence of workplace violence towards nurses working within the health sector in five European countries. Methods: This is a descriptive and cross‐sectional pilot study, conducted in June 2016. The sample consisted of 260 nurses working in selected health care settings in five participating countries (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Turkey, and Spain). The questionnaire used was adapted from the International Labour Office/International Council of Nurses/World Health Organisation/Public Services International Workplace Violence in the Health Sector Country Case Study—Questionnaire. Results: A large number of participants confirmed that they had been physically attacked or verbally abused in the workplace in the last 12 months. In most cases, the physical and verbal abuse was inflicted by patients and to a lesser degree by relatives of patients, staff members, or managers/supervisors. In the majority of cases, no action was taken to investigate the causes of the incidents. In most cases, participants believed there was no point in reporting the incidents. However, the reasons for not reporting or discussing incidents of workplace violence varied depending on the country. Conclusion: Workplace violence towards nurses is a serious problem internationally, and violence prevention strategies need to be implemented. SUMMARY STATEMENT: What is already known about this topic? The nursing profession is at high risk of workplace violence. However, the problem seems to be severely underreported.What this paper adds? A better understanding of the problem in the social and cultural context, together with data fill information gaps regarding workplace violence in selected European countries.The implications of this paper: On the basis of the data obtained, prevention programmes and recommendations can be established and implemented in nurses' daily lives. Aims and Objectives: The study aimed to investigate differences in assessing implicit rationing of nursing care by Czech nurses with respect to the type of unit and type of hospital. Background: Implicit rationing of nursing care may differ across different types of hospitals and hospital units. Design: This study used a multicentre cross‐sectional study design. Methods: The STROBE checklist for observational cross‐sectional studies was followed for reporting of the research study. The sample included 8209 nurses providing direct care to medical and surgical patients in 14 acute care Czech hospitals. The main outcome was implicit rationing of nursing care as measured with a Czech version of the Perceived Implicit Rationing of Nursing Care (PIRNCA) instrument. Data were collected from September 2019 to October 2020. Results: The most frequently rationed nursing care activity was timely response to patient or family request/need, followed by emotional or psychological support and adequate supervision of delegated tasks. More implicitly rationed nursing care was reported in medical units. Statistical differences were found in rating 25 items and the PIRNCA total score. Nurses from middle‐sized hospitals reported implicitly rationed care more frequently than those from large hospitals. Conclusion: More rationed care was reported by nurses from medical units and nurses from middle‐sized hospitals. Organisational variables (the type of unit and type of hospital) influence the implicit rationing of nursing care in our study. Aim: To examine the overall level of self‐assessed competence of final‐year nursing 'bachelors' degree students in the Czech Republic. In addition, the study aimed at the factors associated with the students' level of competence. Design: A cross‐sectional observational study. Methods: Data were collected with the Czech version of the Nurse Competence Scale from 274 final‐year nursing students of the bachelor's nursing program. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analyses. Results: Majority of the students (80.3%) assessed their level of competence as good or very good. The highest level of competence was assessed in the category of 'managing situations' (VAS mean 67.8) and 'work role' (VAS mean 67.2). Previous work experience in healthcare and successful supervisory experience had a positive association with self‐assessed competence. Students who completed clinical placement during the COVID‐19 pandemic assessed their level of competence as lower than students before the pandemic. No Patient or Public Contribution. Aim: The aim of the study was a transcultural adaptation, linguistic validation, and testing of psychometric properties of the Czech version of the Nurse Competence Scale (CZNCS). Methods: Designed as a cross-sectional observational study. The sample comprised 274 students from third-year bachelor's nursing study programmes at Czech universities. To collect the data, a Czech version of the Nurse Competence Scale was used, containing 73 items grouped into seven subscales. The data was collected between 2018 and 2021. The internal consistency of the scale was assessed using Cronbach's alpha. Content validity was assessed using the Content validity index, while construct validity was tested using Principal Component Analysis. Differences in the assessment of competence were tested using the Mann--Whitney test and Pearson's chi-squared test. Results: The content validity index average for the Czech version of NCS was 0.95, while the content validity index-universal agreement was 0.75. Cronbach's alpha of the Nurse Competence Scale was 0.981. Factor analysis showed a six-factor solution. Conclusions: The Czech version of the Nurse Competence Scale showed good levels of content validity and reliability. The Czech version of the NCS may serve as a useful tool for self-assessment of students' competence in the final years of nursing programs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and purpose: Social engagement is an important active aging strategy to promote older adults' mental health. The purposes of this study were to compare social engagement in older populations around the world and explore associations with mental health outcomes. Materials and methods: An international cross‐sectional survey was conducted from 2017 to 2019. Data were retrieved from The International Social Survey Programme for a secondary data analysis across 30 countries. This study applied the Taxonomy of Social Activities and its six levels as operational definitions for a consistent concept of social engagement for international comparisons. Results: In total, 9403 older adults with a mean age of 72.85 ± 6.40 years responded. The highest levels of older adults' social engagement were found in Switzerland, Thailand, and New Zealand. Older adults of a higher age, with a lower educational level, who were permanently sick or disabled, who had no partner, who were widowed or whose civil partner had died, who lived alone, and who had lower self‐placement in society had significantly lower social engagement than did their counterparts. In the regression model, older adults' social engagement positively predicted general health, self‐accomplishment, and life satisfaction, but negatively predicted loneliness and depression. Conclusions: In aging societies worldwide, encouraging older adults' social engagement would be beneficial to promote mental health. Implications for nursing practice and health policies: Community professional nurses can develop strategies of social engagement based on the needs and sociodemographic factors of older adults to improve their mental health. Nurses underwent different models of education during various historical periods. The recent decade in Europe has been marked with educational transitions for the nursing profession related to Bologna Declaration and enlargement of the European Union. This paper aims to explore the situation of clinical placements for student nurses and assess students' satisfaction with the learning environment in four relatively new member states of European Union: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania and Romania. The data for cross-sectional quantitative study were collected during the exploratory phase of EmpNURS Project via a web based questionnaire which utilized a part of Clinical Learning Environment scale (CLES + T). The students evaluated their clinical learning environment mainly positively. The students' utter satisfaction with their clinical placements reached a high level and strongly correlated with the supervisory model. Although the commonest model for supervision was traditional group supervision, the most satisfied students had the experience of individualised supervision. The study gives a picture of the satisfaction of students with the learning environment and, moreover, with clinical placement education of student nurses in four EU countries. The results highlight the individualized supervision model as a crucial factor of students' total satisfaction during their clinical training periods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The development of music therapy in the Czech Republic is closely connected with the development of other arts therapies (AsTs). This cross-sectional study aims to provide a research-based description of the current state of Czech music therapy and offer comparisons with other AsTs. Data were obtained through a modified version of "The Practice in Arts Therapies" questionnaire, which was distributed to arts therapists registered with professional associations in the Czech Republic. From the total sample (N = 144), there were 50 music therapists. The remainder of the sample were drama, dance movement, art therapists, and combinations of these therapies (N = 94). Descriptive and inferential statistics were performed relating to work environment, client groups, and preferred therapeutic trends. Czech music therapy is closely connected to working with special needs populations in social care and educational environments. Practitioners follow humanistic, active/directive and artistic/creative trends. Significant differences were found between music therapists and other arts therapists with regard to the client populations (in their age and type of needs), and therapeutic trends. Czech music therapy has strengths in the area of special needs, but it will be important to achieve further growth, especially in health care. This may have a crucial impact on the formation of a common legislative framework for art therapists. We recommend repeating this survey in the future to see how the university-based program for music therapy will have influenced the profession. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: More than 50% of patients worldwide die in hospitals and end-of-life care is costly. We aimed to explore whether support from the palliative team can influence end-of-life costs. Methods: This was a descriptive retrospective case–control study conducted at a Czech tertiary hospital. We explored the difference in daily hospital costs between patients who died with and without the support of the hospital palliative care team from January 2019 to April 2020. Big data from registries of routine visits were used for case–control matching. As secondary outcomes, we compared the groups over the duration of the terminal hospitalization, intensive care unit (ICU) days, intravenous antibiotics, magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomography scans, oncological treatment in the last month of life, and documentation of the dying phase. Standard descriptive statistics were used to describe the data, and differences between the case and control groups were tested using Fisher's exact test for categorical variables and the Mann–Whitney U test for numerical data. Results: In total, 213 dyads were identified. The average daily costs were three times lower in the palliative group (4392.4 CZK per day = 171.3 EUR) than in the nonpalliative group (13992.8 CZK per day = 545.8 EUR), and the difference was probably associated with the shorter time spent in the ICU (16% vs. 33% of hospital days). Conclusions: We showed that the integration of the palliative care team in the dying phase can be cost saving. Background: Studies performed in Central European countries showed a high prevalence of missed nursing care in various clinical settings before the COVID‐19 pandemic. Aims: The aim of the study was to investigate which domains of the work environment were significant predictors of missed nursing care activities in Czech hospitals during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Methods: A cross‐sectional study was used. The RANCARE guideline and STROBE checklist were followed for reporting in the study. The sample consisted of 371 nurses from four acute care hospitals. The MISSCARE Survey and the Practice Environment Scale of the Nursing Work Index questionnaires were used to collect data. The data were analyzed using multiple linear and logistic regression analyses. Results: Nurses reporting unfavorable environments consistently describe a higher frequency of episodes of missed care. Prevalence estimates of missed care in Czech acute care hospitals during the COVID‐19 pandemic was predicted from the overtime work, the nurses' perception of the "Nursing foundations for the quality of care," and their satisfaction with their current position. Conclusions: Missed nursing care could be mitigated by improving the nurses' work environment. Domains of the nurse work environment are known as structural modifiable factors and their refinement could be a cornerstone for interventions to reduce the prevalence of missed nursing care. Implications for nursing policy: Monitoring the conditions and aspects of the nurse work environment in hospitals and considering nurses' concerns about the work environment on an ongoing basis are important strategies for nurse supervision as well as for policymakers. Background: Dignity is a multidimensional construct that includes perception, knowledge, and emotions related to competence or respect. Attitudes to aging are a comprehensive personal view of the experience of aging over the course of life, which can be influenced by various factors, such as the levels of health and self-sufficiency and social, psychological, or demographic factors. Aim: The purpose of this study was to explore the attitudes to aging of home-dwelling and inpatient older adults, and whether dignity and other selected factors belong among the predictors influencing attitudes to aging in these two different groups of older adults. Research design: Cross-sectional study using a set of questionnaires: Patient Dignity Inventory, Attitudes to Aging Questionnaire, and Barthel Index. Pearson and Spearman correlation analyses and multivariable linear regression were used for statistical processing. Participants and research context: 233 inpatients and 237 home-dwelling older adults participated in the research in two regions of the Czech Republic. Ethical considerations: Institutional Review Board approval was received from the authors' university. Findings: The inpatients had more negative attitudes to aging (M = 74.9±10.9; P <0.0001). The predictors of their attitudes to aging were gender and dignity. Women (β = −2.969, P = 0.045) and inpatients with poor dignity ratings (β = −0.332, P <0.0001) had more negative attitudes to aging. The predictors for home-dwelling older adults were education, living arrangement, and dignity. More negative attitudes to aging were found in older adults with lower levels of education (β = 2.716, P = 0.007) who lived alone (β = 2.163, P = 0.046) and rated their dignity as low (β = −0.325, P <0.0001). Discussion and Conclusions: The results of this study add to the understanding that a sense of dignity is an important predictor of attitudes to aging for both home-dwelling older adults and inpatients. Aim: The aim of the study was to examine the psychometric properties of the Czech version of the Surgical Fear Questionnaire. Design: A cross-sectional study design. STROBE guidelines for reporting observational studies were followed for the study. Methods: The study sample consisted of 332 adult patients from the Czech Republic. The Surgical Fear Questionnaire (SFQ) was used to measure preoperative fear. Cronbach's alpha was calculated to test reliability. The construct validity of the SFQ was tested using exploratory factor analysis. Results: Reliability of the instrument as a whole was confirmed by the high value of the Cronbach alpha coefficient (0.813). Two factors were identified for the Czech version of the SFQ in factor analysis. Conclusion: The Czech version of the Surgical Fear Questionnaire showed good validity and reliability and can be used in research and clinical practice. Aim: The study aimed to determine how Czech nurses perceive individual aspects of their work environment, and examined the differences in perceptions of their work environment related to type of hospital, hospital departments, and individual demographic characteristics. The study included analysis of the relationships between nurses' work environment and: intention to leave, satisfaction with current work position, the role of nurse, and work intensity. Design: A cross-sectional descriptive study. Methods: The sample involved 371 nurses working in the internal medicine and surgical departments of four hospitals in the Olomouc region. The Czech version of the Practice Environment Scale of the Nursing Work Index (PES-NWI) was used to collect data. Data were analyzed using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, the Pearson chi-squared test, the Mann-Whitney test, and Spearman's correlations. Results: Nurses from university hospitals evaluated their work environment significantly more highly than nurses in regional non-university hospitals. No significant difference between internal medicine and surgical hospital wards was confirmed. Weak to moderate positive correlations were revealed between nurses' work environment and: satisfaction with the role of nurse, satisfaction with current work position, and satisfaction with team collaboration. Nurses who considered leaving their current job or work position evaluated their work environment significantly more negatively than nurses who did not intend to leave their job. Conclusion: The attributes of nurses' work environment are related to nurses' satisfaction at work and their intention of staying in their workplace. Aim: The aim of the study was to find out whether there was a correlation between satisfaction with supervision and job satisfaction among healthcare workers, and, in addition, whether there is a correlation between satisfaction with supervision and selected demographic data. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The research sample consisted of staff in healthcare facilities who took care of patients / clients, and underwent supervision (n = 234). The McCloskey / Mueller Satisfaction Scale and Manchester Clinical Supervision Scale questionnaires were used. Results: In the case of job satisfaction, a statistically significant correlation was demonstrated between the effectiveness of the provided supervision and level of job satisfaction. When comparing selected demographic characteristics, a significant difference was demonstrated between satisfaction with supervision of psychiatric staff and hospice care staff. No statistically significant difference between the groups of respondents was demonstrated in satisfaction with supervision according to level of education. Conclusion: Our research demonstrated a correlation between satisfaction with supervision and job satisfaction. Satisfaction with supervision, in turn, depends on the workplace of the respondents. Background: Patients with advanced disease may not be invited to participate in research based on the assumption that participation would be too burdensome for them. The aim of this study was to explore how patients with advanced disease and their relatives evaluate their experience with research participation. Method: This study used data from two parts of a larger project. The first dataset was a cross-sectional questionnaire study focused on priorities at the end of life. The second dataset used a longitudinal design with structured interviews on prognostic awareness. In both studies, participants evaluated their experience on a 5-point Likert scale and specified their motivation in an open-ended question. Data were collected in 6 hospitals in the Czech Republic with patients with advanced disease and life expectancy less than 1 year and their relatives. Data were analysed using non-parametric tests and thematic analysis. Results: First dataset consisted of 167 patients and 102 relatives, and second dataset consisted of 135 patients and 92 relatives (in total, 496 respondents). Results were similar in both datasets, with half of the sample (53%, 48%) scoring neutral, and over 30% of the sample identified their experience as interesting. The most significant factors associated with the evaluation were religiosity (p = 0.001) and the type of diagnosis (p = 0.04). Motivation for participation was to improve care, support research, express own opinion, opportunity to talk and trusting relationship. Background: Lifestyle sport activities (e.g. parkour or skateboarding) are considered attractive and beneficial for a long-term commitment to physical activity (PA) and might be a great opportunity for adolescents who do not feel comfortable in an organized or competitive atmosphere. The purpose of the study was to assess whether participation in lifestyle activities is associated with moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA), out-of-school vigorous physical activity (VPA), and sedentary behaviour in adolescents aged 10-15 years, with major demographic variables (sex, age, socioeconomic status) being taken into account.Methods: Data from a research project linked to the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) survey collected in 2017 in the Czech Republic was used. The sample consisted of 679 participants (303 of them girls) and was selected by quota sampling. Chi-square tests were used to assess differences in involvement in lifestyle activities according to sex, grade, and socioeconomic status. Ordinal and linear regression models were used to analyse the associations of participation in lifestyle activities and selected energy balance-related behaviours.Results: Participation in lifestyle sport activities was significantly associated with a higher level of physical activity (MVPA and out-of-school VPA) after adjustment for sociodemographic factors, as was participation in organized sport. No significant associations were shown for sedentary behaviour.Conclusions: Adolescents participating in lifestyle sport activities report being more physically active and, in case of doing multiple such activities concurrently, also spending less time sitting than their peers not involved in lifestyle sport activities. Aim: The study aimed to identify individual health and social care needs and unmet needs in patients with Parkinson’s disease as well as factors related to them. Design: A cross-sectional study. Methods: The sample comprised 183 Parkinson’s disease patients cared for in four outpatient neurology centers in the Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. Their functional status was assessed with the Hoehn and Yahr Scale, Barthel Index and Schwab and England Scale; their needs for care were evaluated using the Needs and Provision Complexity Scale. The study was carried out from May to December 2019. Results: The highest proportions of unmet needs were identified in rehabilitation, related to both frequency (87%) and intensity (85%), followed by family support (53%), residential respite care (41%), skilled nursing care (36%) and equipment (35%). Unmet needs were associated with greater dependence with regard to activities of daily living, poorer functional status and longer disease duration. Conclusion: Understanding factors that determine the type of unmet needs of Parkinson’s disease patients is crucial for provision of adequate multidisciplinary care. Based on identification of unmet health and social care and support needs, nurses may provide targeted interventions aimed to fulfill the unmet needs and improve the quality of life of patients. Aims and Objectives: To investigate hospital, unit and staff variables as the correlates of missed nursing care (MNC) in Czech hospitals. Background: There is a considerable variability in patterns of MNC across different hospital, unit and staff characteristics. Design: A cross‐sectional study was conducted. The STROBE guidelines for reporting observational studies were followed for reporting of the research study. Methods: A sample of 513 nurses working in nine acute care hospitals was recruited. MNC activities were measured with the MISSCARE Survey. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and univariate logistic regression. Results: Type of unit was confirmed as a significant predictor of MNC. Staff characteristics (nurses' work position, level of education and perceived adequacy of unit staff) and hospital variables did not contribute significantly to MNC. Conclusions: The study replicated the patterns of MNC across different conceptual approaches. MNC was influenced by work environment characteristics rather than individual staff variables. Relevance to clinical practice: The results of this research showed that missed nursing care is influenced by work environment characteristics rather than individual staff variables. Background: Nursing shortages, the substitution of practical nurses for registered nurses, an ageing workforce, the decreasing number of nurse graduates and the increasing migration of young nurses are important factors associated with the hospital safety climate in Central European countries. Aims: The aim of the study was to investigate nurses' perceptions of the safety climate in four selected central European countries (Croatia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia) and to determine the relationship between safety climate and unfinished nursing care. Methods: A cross‐sectional study was used. The sample consisted of 1353 European nurses from four countries. Instruments used were the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture and the Perceived Implicit Rationing of Nursing Care. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analyses. Results: Significant differences were found between countries in all unit/hospital/outcome dimensions. 'Perceived Patient Safety' and 'Reporting of Incident Data' were associated with aspects of 'Organizational Learning' and 'Feedback and Communication about Error'. Higher prevalence of unfinished nursing care is associated with more negative perceptions of patient safety climate. Conclusions: Cross‐cultural comparisons allow us to examine differences and similarities in safety dimensions across countries. The areas with potential for initiating strategies for improvement in all four countries are 'Staffing', 'Non‐punitive Response to Error' and 'Teamwork across Hospital Units'. Implications for nursing and health policy: 'Feedback and Communicating about Error' and 'Organizational Learning ‐ Continuous Improvement' were the main predictors of 'Overall Perception of Patient Safety' and 'Reporting of Incident Data'. Therefore, nurse managers should focus on how to empower nurses in these areas in order to foster a no‐blame culture and effective reporting. Aim: To identify the incidence of workplace violence against nurses in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, its sources, ways of dealing with violence against nurses, the intensity of nurse's psychological problems as a result of their experience of workplace violence. Design: A cross-sectional study. Methods: Workplace Violence in the Health Sector Country Case Study - Questionnaire was used. The sample consisted of 526 nurses from selected healthcare settings in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Data was collected from June to November 2016. Results: Verbal as well physical violence against nurses is a frequent phenomenon in nurses' workplace in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. We identified statistically significant difference in verbal aggression from patients and higher intensity of nurse's psychological problems as a result of patients' aggression. In both countries, we have found an incomplete problem solution by the management of healthcare facilities. Conclusion: Verbal as well physical violence against nurses is a frequent phenomenon in the workplace of Czech and Slovak nurses. To ascertain quality of life in patients with ulcer affected diabetic foot (UADF), and to establish whether there was a relationship between respondents' gender, age, duration and type of treatment for DM, duration of treatment for and etiology of wound, intensity of pain, degree of UADF, method of off-loading pressure on the foot, and quality of life. Design: A crosssectional study. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 167 patients with UADF. The data were acquired using the SF-36 and Wound-QoL questionnaires. Exploratory Regression analysis was used during the study as a descriptive technique. The model was realized using the ENTER method. Results: Of the patients who participated in this study, 68% were men and 32% women, their average age was 65 years, and the length of DM treatment was 19 years, with variations in DM treatment, UADF intensity, etiology, and size and degree of UADF, according to Wagner classification. Based on the values of beta coefficients, we can state that according to the SF-36, the main negative predictors of quality of life are: 1) DM treatment; 2) pain intensity; 3) age; 4) wound etiology; and 5) use of wheelchair. Whereas, according to the Wound-QoL, the main negative predictors of quality of life are: 1) DM treatment; 2) pain intensity; 3) size of the wound; 4) age; and 5) use of crutches. Conclusion: Although the results of the two models are similar in certain respects, there are also differences, explained by the fact that two different conceptions of measuring quality of life, with different scoring systems, were involved. Background. The fear of falling (FoF) refers to a lack of self-confidence that normal activities can be performed without falling. FoF represents an important psychological factor at an older age. Objectives. This study aimed to analyse the factors associated with FoF in a sample of community-dwelling older Czech adults. Material and methods. A cross-sectional study was performed in 2017-2018. The Falls Efficacy Scale-International and the Short Physical Performance Battery were completed by 349 older adults with (n = 140) and without (n = 209) dementia. Fisher's exact test, analysis of variance and logistic regression models were used for statistical analyses. Results. Cognitive impairment, age and physical frailty were significantly associated with higher FoF. In three models of linear regression, associations between FoF and physical frailty were found. The first model demonstrated that physically frail older adults had a higher adjusted risk of FoF compared to less physically frail individuals [odds ratio (OR) = 11.91; 95% confidence interval (CI): 7.17- 19.78]. In the second model, high FoF was discovered in physically frail adults age ≥ 80 (OR = 11.41; 95% CI: 6.50-20.04) and women (OR = 1.97; 95% CI: 1.08-3.59). In the final adjusted model, physically frail older adults had a higher FoF compared to less physically frail adults (OR = 10.02; 95% CI: 4.24-23.70), and higher education lowered the FoF score (OR = 0.57; 95% CI: 0.34-0.96; p = 0.034). The usage of mobile health (mHealth) applications is rapidly increasing. This research has been aimed mostly at reviewing existing mHealth apps and their functionality. However, studies from users' perspectives are rather scarce. This exploratory study addresses that gap and, using cross-sectional survey data, seeks to reveal the socio-demographic and individual characteristics of users who utilize specific functions of mHealth apps. The data were collected via an online survey through websites oriented toward eating habits, exercising, dieting, and weight loss. From the original sample (1002 users; M = 24.8, standard deviation = 6.9; 81.6% females), the final sub-sample of 406 participants aged from 13 to 39 years (M = 23.8, standard deviation = 5.3, 86.9% females) who reported usage of mHealth apps was examined. The analyses revealed demographic and individual differences in predicting usage of various functions of mHealth apps. The drive for thinness was associated with functions for weight monitoring and planning functions. Excessive exercise was associated with weight monitoring, socializing functions, and functions for planning and monitoring goals. These findings imply that mHealth apps should be individually tailored to incorporate components such as risk-specific warnings or the provision of information related to seeking professional help for at-risk audiences. Aim: The aim of the cross-sectional study was to assess attitudes of nursing students towards the elderly and to determine whether they are influenced by their age, field, type and current year of study. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The research sample comprised 459 nursing students (nursing assistants, and nursing students on a bachelor's and master's degree course). To collect data we used the Kogan's Attitude towards Old People Scale (KAOP) which is designed to measure attitudes toward the elderly. Good psychometric properties were found in the Czech version of KAOP (Cronbach alpha > 0.7). Results: The attitudes towards the elderly were quite balanced; 55% of nursing students reported a slightly positive attitude and 42 % demonstrated a slightly negative attitude toward the elderly. The highest KAOP score was recorded in students on the master's degree course. A statistically significant difference was found in students' attitudes towards the elderly according to their level of education (p < 0.01) and age (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Nursing education should include programs and interventions focusing on improving attitudes of students towards the elderly and their motivation for working with them. Background: Acute methanol poisoning leads to optic neuropathy and necrotic lesions of basal ganglia (BG) and subcortical white matter. Survivors of methanol poisoning exhibit long‐term executive and memory deficits. Associations between brain volumetry parameters and cognitive sequelae of methanol poisoning are not known. The aim of our study was to identify long‐term associations between the cognitive performance of survivors of methanol poisoning and the volume of the brain structures that are selectively vulnerable to methanol. Methods: We conducted a cross‐sectional follow‐up study on a sample of patients (n = 33, age 50 ± 14 years, 82% males) who survived acute methanol poisoning during methanol mass poisoning outbreak from September 2012 till January 2013 in the Czech Republic. A battery of neuropsychological tests and brain magnetic resonance imaging were included in the clinical examination protocol. Specific brain structures (putamen, globus pallidus, nucleus caudatus, and frontal white matter) were selected as regions of interest, and their volumes were estimated using the MorphoBox prototype software. Results: In robust multiple regression models, sustained visual attention performance (as assessed by Trail Making Test and Prague Stroop Test) was positively associated with BG structures and frontal white matter volumes (Wald = 9.03 to 85.50, p < 0.01), sensitivity to interference (as assessed by Frontal Battery Assessment) was negatively associated with frontal white matter volume (Wald = 35.44 to 42.25, p < 0.001), and motor performance (as assessed by Finger Tapping Test) was positively associated with globus pallidus and frontal white matter volumes (Wald = 9.66 to 13.29, p < 0.01). Conclusions: Our results demonstrate that smaller volumes of elements of BG–thalamocortical circuitry, namely the BG and frontal white matter, relate to attention and motor performance in methanol poisoning from a long‐term perspective. Aims: There is evidence that young people are less satisfied with their lives when they are unemployed or working in precarious conditions. This study aims to shed light on how the life satisfaction of unemployed and precariously employed young people varies across welfare states with different labour market policies and levels of social protection. Methods: The analyses are based on representative cross-sectional survey data from five European countries (Denmark, the UK, Germany, Spain and the Czech Republic), corresponding to five different welfare state regimes. For economically active young adults (N =6681), the prevalence ratios of low life satisfaction were estimated through multivariate logistic regressions. Results: In all five countries, unemployed young adults presented a higher prevalence of low life satisfaction. When we compared employees with people with permanent and temporary contracts, the former were more satisfied with their lives only in Germany and the UK, examples of conservative and liberal welfare regimes, respectively. Experience of unemployment decreased young adults' life satisfaction only in Germany and the Czech Republic, examples of a conservative and an eastern European welfare regime, respectively. In almost all countries, young adults with low economic self-sufficiency presented a higher prevalence of low life satisfaction. Conclusions: There are nuanced patterns of employment type and life satisfaction across European states that hint at welfare state regimes as possible moderators in this relationship. The results suggest that the psychological burdens of unemployment or work uncertainty cannot be overlooked and should be addressed according to different types of social provisions. Aim: The aims of the pilot study were a) to compare the amount, type, and reasons for missed nursing care in the Czech Republic and Slovakia; and b) to investigate the psychometric properties of the Slovak and Czech versions of the MISSCARE Survey. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: For measurement of missed nursing care The Missed Nursing Care (MISSCARE) Survey was used. The sample consisted of 226 hospital nurses in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Results: The internal consistency of Part A measured by Cronbach alpha was 0.939 for the Czech version and 0.945 for the Slovak version of the MISSCARE Survey. The average score for missed nursing care was 1.64 ± 0.51 for the Czech Republic, and 1.99 ± 0.83 for Slovakia. Shortfalls in labor resources were cited as the chief reason for missed nursing care in the countries surveyed. Conclusion: Psychometric testing showed that the Czech and Slovak versions of the MISSCARE Survey are reliable and valid tools, and can be used for measuring missed nursing care. A healthy lifestyle habits in adolescents consist of healthy eating patterns and active ways of spending leisure time. This study aimed to examine the relationship between organized leisure-time activities (OLTA) and eating habits in adolescence. Data from the 2013/2014 Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) study on 10,494 Czech adolescents aged 11-15 years was used. The associations of participation in OLTA with ten specific eating habits were analyzed using logistic regression. Involvement in any type of OLTA was associated with higher consumption of daily breakfast, fruit, and vegetables and a lower intake of soft drinks. Participants in non-sport and sport and other activity reported lower rates of unhealthy eating habits (e.g., lower rates of eating crisps and eating in front of the TV or computer). Participation only in sport was related to more frequent eating at fast food restaurants but less frequent snacking in front of the computer and intake of crisps.Conclusion: Participation in OLTA was associated with healthier eating habits (e.g., consumption of fruit and vegetables) and a lower occurrence of unhealthy eating habits (e.g., consumption of soft drinks). Alternatively, our findings indicate that non-participation in OLTA can serve as an indicator of an unhealthy lifestyle in adolescence. Blatant dehumanization has recently been demonstrated to predict negative outgroup attitudes and behaviors. Here, we examined blatant dehumanization of Muslim refugees during the 'Refugee Crisis' among large samples in four European countries: the Czech Republic (N = 1307), Hungary (N = 502), Spain (N = 1049), and Greece (N = 934). Our results suggest that blatant dehumanization of Muslim refugees is (a) prevalent among Europeans, and (b) uniquely associated with anti-refugee attitudes and behavior, beyond political ideology, prejudice, and--of particular relevance to the refugee crisis--empathy. We also find that blatant dehumanization of Muslim refugees is significantly higher and more strongly associated with intergroup behavior in the Eastern European countries (especially the Czech Republic) than in Spain and Greece. Examining a range of outgroup targets beyond refugees, our results further illustrate that blatant dehumanization is not purely an ethnocentric bias: while individuals across contexts feel warmer towards their group than all others, they rate several high-status outgroups as equally or more fully 'evolved and civilized' than the ingroup. Our research extends theoretical understanding of blatant dehumanization, and suggests that blatant dehumanization plays an important and independent role in the rejection of Muslim refugees throughout Europe. Aim: The pilot study aimed to determine the association between burden and depression in caregivers caring for dementia patients. Design: Quantitative research; a cross-sectional study. Methods: Data were collected using a set of standardized questionnaires. Patients' performance in activities of daily living was assessed using the Barthel scale. The subset for caregivers included the Zarit Burden Interview, Caregiver Strain Index and Beck Depression Inventory. Results: The pilot study sample comprised 100 lay caregivers of dementia patients. More than 50% of caregivers of patients with moderate to severe dementia experienced moderate to severe burden as compared with those caring for individuals with mild or minimal depression. The median burden scores were 54 and 38 in caregivers with and without depression, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in burden scores with respect to depression. There were positive correlations between depression measured with the Beck Depression Inventory and both Zarit Burden Interview scores (0.4898) and Caregiver Strain Index scores (0.3379). Conclusion: The pilot study results confirm that caregivers are at risk for the development of depression associated with burden of care for dementia patients. Aim: The objective was to determine whether hazardous substances are safely stored in households. Design: A descriptive cross-sectional study was performed. Methods: The sample comprised 300 parents of children attending 20 selected kindergartens. A non-standardized questionnaire developed by the study authors was used. Statistical analyses were carried out using the general linear model, chi-square test, Wilcoxon test, binomial distribution, Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann- Whitney U test. Results: Parents act to prevent unwanted cases of child poisoning in the home setting. There was a statistically significant difference in how household substances were stored (p < 0.001). The largest group of hazardous household substances were cleaners (2,644), of which 676 (26%) in the reach of children. A total of 5,550 hazardous substances were found in households, including 1,215 (22%) items that could be accessed by children. There was a statistically significant differences (p = 0.0484) in the number of substances in the reach of children between parents with the lowest level of education and those with tertiary education. The field of education, type of housing and place of residence had no effect on the proportion of substances unsafely stored in the home setting. Conclusion: Parents keep household substances out of the reach of children to prevent unwanted cases of poisoning. There are substances, however, that are not considered as toxic by parents. Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of BMI on the timing of permanent tooth emergence in Czech children.Objectives: In this cross-sectional study, 1370 Czech children were examined. The age, gender, weight, height, all emerged permanent teeth (except third molars) of each child were all recorded. A tooth is defined as having emerged when at least any part of it has penetrated the gingiva.Methods: A logistic regression model was used to calculate the median emergence age per tooth for both genders separately and BMI was used as a factor variable to detect statistically significant differences in the times of tooth emergence within pairs of BMI groups. The data were statistically processed using IBM SPSS Statistics 23 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL).Results: Statistically significant differences were found for the following permanent teeth (using the FDI two-digit system): 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 41, 44, 45, 46, 47, 33, 35, 37, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27 for girls and 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 41, 43, 44, 45, 22, 25, 32, 34, 35, 36 for boys. These teeth were observed to emerge earlier in obese children. A similar correlation (although not statistically significant) was observed between the time of emergence of the remaining teeth and the BMI of the child.Conclusion: The data in this research highlight significant differences in emergence times of permanent teeth due to the influence of BMI in Czech children. Abstract: Purpose: Comfort promotion plays a significant role in end‐of‐life patient care. The objective of this study was to determine the utilization rate of comfort supporting nursing activities in end‐of‐life patients in an institutionalized environment in the Czech Republic in relation to the age of the registered nurses (RNs), length of work experience, education level, and type of workplace. Design: A cross‐sectional, descriptive study was designed. A questionnaire with Likert scales included 31 activities of dying care and spiritual support interventions. The sample comprised 907 RNs working in 49 institutions in nine regions of the Czech Republic. The Kruskal‐Wallis test, Mann‐Whitney U post‐hoc test with Bonferroni correction of significance, Spearman's correlation analysis, and logical regression model were used for statistical evaluation. Findings: The least frequently implemented activity by RNs was “Show the patient's willingness to discuss death” and the most frequent activity was “Threat to the patient's dignity and respect.” The highest utilization rate of nursing activities was reported in the physical dimension, while the lowest utilization rate of nursing activities was in the social dimension set. Significant predictors for the high utilization rate of physical dimension set activities were hospice care departments, long‐term care facilities (LTCFs), and the age of RNs. Hospice departments were also a predictor of high utilization rate of activities in the psychological, spiritual, and social dimension set activities. Conclusions: With the exception of hospice departments, RNs used activities encouraging psychological, spiritual, and social comfort for end‐of‐life patients less frequently than the physical dimension. Clinical Relevance: RNs in hospitals and LTCFs focus insufficiently on the spiritual and psychosocial comfort of end‐of‐life patients.
