Both theoretical and empirical research studies the factors influencing firms' location choices. This paper presents a new viewpoint by considering relationship continuity to explain small‐scale relocations and relocations of small and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs), which represent the majority of firms. The influences of firms' relationships with financing institutions are studied using a two‐stage nested logit model. Consequently, the positive effect of relationships on location choices is revealed and the factors preventing firms from moving are described. The model is valid for estimating relocations to medium‐sized cities, and the influences on shrinking firms as opposed to expanding firms are especially strong. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Percolation theory is used to model intrinsic and relative permeabilities as well as tortuosity in anisotropic carbon paper gas diffusion layers (GDL) and compared with existing results from lattice-Boltzmann (LB) simulations and experimental measurements. Although single- and two-phase characteristics of the carbon paper GDL are mainly affected by medium geometrical and topological properties, e.g., pore-size distribution, connectivity, and pore geometry, analyzing capillary pressure curves implies that the pore-size distribution of the carbon paper GDL is very narrow. This suggests that its effect on tortuosity and wetting- and nonwetting-phase relative permeabilities is trivial. However, integrated effects of pore geometry, surface area, connectivity, and tortuosity on intrinsic permeability might be substantial. Universal power laws from percolation theory predict the tortuosity-porosity and relative permeability–saturation curves accurately, indicating both characteristics not affected by the pore-size distribution. This article presents the use of spliced LCD displays on foldable mobile devices. In order to achieve a perfect spliced display, we need to use a four‐sided narrow border design LCD and visual seamless technology. The article introduces two new techniques for ultra narrow borders and uses these two techniques to overcome the rainbow pattern and textual continuity of the seam edges between two adjacent LCD displays. Highlighting the potential of the social, educational, cultural, economic and physical media on rural communities seemed a gesture of great responsibility to entrust this potential to teachers, particularly primary school teachers in some geographical areas from Braşov, Covasna and Buzau counties. The investigations conducted in the field belong mostly to an inductive qualitative-interpretative paradigm and the results show the mentality and lifestyle which locals have in this area, within the social and community context and which actually define the traditional rural culture in the Romanian villages from the mentioned areas. All these elements were amplified by writing and implementing school-decision optional courses which we can generically call spatial and temporal landmarks of a „Geography education" of the rural South -- East of Transylvania. TT□C is a generic family of effectful, extensional type theories with a forcing interpretation parameterized by modalities. This paper identifies a subclass of TT□C theories that internally realizes continuity principles through stateful computations, such as reference cells. The principle of continuity is a seminal property that holds for a number of intuitionistic theories such as System T. Roughly speaking, it states that functions on real numbers only need approximations of these numbers to compute. Generally, continuity principles have been justified using semantical arguments, but it is known that the modulus of continuity of functions can be computed using effectful computations such as exceptions or reference cells. According to János B. Szabó's latest suggestions, detailed in his two studies, the settlement named Földvár, thgought to have been in the center of the 1526 Battle of Mohács, might be found east of the Borza stream but south of the settlement of Sátorhely, in what is now Croatia. Our response examines the arguments that underpin this claim. The authors' conclusion is that the arguments in favour of the Croatian site cannot be supported by evidences, these statements are based on B. Szabó's misunderstanding. Abstract: This paper is devoted to characterize permutations with forbidden patterns by using canonical reduced decompositions, which leads to bijections between Dyck paths and and , respectively. We also discuss permutations in avoiding two patterns, one of length 3 and the other of length k. These permutations produce a kind of discrete continuity between the Motzkin and the Catalan numbers. This paper provides an empirical study of Italian 'boutique law firms'. By building on seventeen semi-structured interviews with lawyers, the paper explores institutional, professional, and societal features of such firms and their lawyers. The article shows that, while the rise of large law firms triggered a partitioning of the Italian legal field in the past decades, more recently this small, but economically important, sector of the profession revived the classic model of delivering legal services characterised by a strong sense of autonomy and independence, a client-centered but ethically robust approach to legal practice, a close relationship with academic and political environments, and a focus on projecting a professional image of themselves and their firms in society. Purpose: National LCA networks have been supporting the mainstreaming of LCA practice in around a hundred countries. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the factors which contribute to the continuity and relevance of LCA networks as LCA practice becomes more mainstream. This paper addresses the following research questions: what factors enabled the establishment of LCA networks and how is their relevance maintained? How do LCA networks maintain operational continuity? In-depth interviews with national LCA networks were conducted and thematically analyzed. The results analyze the factors contributing to the establishment of LCA networks, as well as offering a unique insight into the factors affecting their relevance over time and contributing to maintaining their operational continuity. While previously LCA networks focused mainly on raising awareness of life cycle approaches, now, they are moving towards providing a coordinated influence on policies and stakeholders. LCA is no longer only an academic method; it has become mainstreamed in business sectors. By offering diverse activities and networking possibilities, LCA networks remain attractive for their members who are willing to pay a membership fee, which secures their long-term viability. The driving force for starting LCA networks was individual experts with an interest in the topic. The formal establishment of the networks allowed greater budgetary resources and, thus, the ability to carry out a broader set of activities that are relevant for different groups of stakeholders. In this paper, we investigate the sufficient conditions that guarantee the stability, continuity, and boundedness of solutions for a type of second-order stochastic delay integro-differential equation (SDIDE). To demonstrate the main results, we employ a Lyapunov functional. An example is provided to demonstrate the applicability of the obtained result, which includes the results of this paper and obtains better results than those available in the literature. We assess that the passage of Economic Notes' property from the founding Bank Monte dei Paschi di Siena to Wiley occurred smoothly, and behind formal discontinuities, a real continuity occurred. Over the years 2012–2019, Economic Notes had starved because the difficulties of Monte obstructed the regular flow of financial support. The survival of the Journal was achieved through editorial innovations through attractive Calls for Papers and the ensuing quality submissions to feed Special Issues. These efforts restored the good health of Economic Notes when its ownership switched, and in the final 3 years considered here (2019–2021), the Journal showed no sign of worsening performance. This conceptual paper draws together the seemingly disparate concepts of business continuity and inclusive design with a two‐fold overarching aim. Firstly, the paper aims to make a case for people‐centred approaches to business continuity planning, particularly in areas of real‐time assessment, building agile and resilient organisations, and new value creation. This is fulfilled by tracing recent developments in business continuity thinking and business continuity management practice, that highlight a shift from a purely functional approach, to a more holistic, embedded, dynamic, people‐centred and strategic stance. Secondly, the paper aims to propose new applications of inclusive design for business impact in general, and business continuity in particular, thereby extending the business case for inclusive design as outlined in British Standards (BS 7000–6:2005). This is fulfilled by highlighting the rationale, value and emergent opportunities in this area. In bringing the two concepts and their respective theory and practice together, the paper also presents recent discussions on the intersection of design thinking and business continuity, which demonstrate the potential value that a design‐led approach can bring to enable people‐centredness and inclusion in the domain of business continuity. Additionally, the paper proposes a first‐level definition of 'people‐centred business continuity' which is considered a steppingstone in the research process for further investigation in both theory and application. We are concerned with interior and global gradient estimates for solutions to a class of singular quasilinear elliptic equations with measure data, whose prototype is given by the p-Laplace equation -- Δp u = μ with p ∈ (1,2). The cases when p ∈ (2 - 1/n, 2) and p ∈ (3n-2/2n-1, 2 - 1/n] were studied in Duzaar and Mingione [J. Funct. Anal. 259 (2010), 379-418] and Nguyen and Phuc [J. Funct. Anal. 278 (2020), art. 108391] respectively. In this paper, we improve the results of Nguyen and Phuc and address the open case when p ∈ (1, 3n-2/2n-1]. Through galleries of graphs and short filmstrips, this paper aims to sharpen students' eyes for visually recognizing continuous functions. It seeks to develop intuition for what visual features of a graph continuity does and does not allow for. We have found that even students who can work correctly with rigorous definitions may not be able to recognize a continuous function from its graph. To help mitigate this problem, these visuals can be used alongside the definitions in analysis courses, and in calculus courses where the same definitions are used. The content is arranged into a series of pictures accompanied by questions, with suggestions for the instructor on how to guide students in their learning. The design allows students to make their own discoveries and connections. The investigations crescendo to a surprising fact: that almost all continuous functions are differentiable nowhere! Featured Application: This research can be applied to path planning and automatic obstacle avoidance of drone in low altitude complex environments. As various fields and industries have progressed, the use of drones has grown tremendously. The problem of path planning for drones flying at low altitude in urban as well as mountainous areas will be crucial for drones performing search-and-rescue missions. In this paper, we propose a convergent approach to ensure autonomous collision-free path planning for drones in the presence of both static obstacles and dynamic threats. Firstly, this paper extends the jump point search algorithm (JPS) in three dimensions for the drone to generate collision-free paths based on static environments. Next, a parent node transfer law is proposed and used to implement the JPS algorithm for any-angle path planning, which further shortens the planning path of the drones. Furthermore, the optimized paths are smoothed by seventh-order polynomial interpolation based on minimum snap to ensure the continuity at the path nodes. Finally, this paper improves the artificial potential field (APF) method by a virtual gravitational field and 3D Bresenham's line algorithm to achieve the autonomous obstacle avoidance of drones in a dynamic-threat conflict environment. In this paper, the performance of this convergent approach is verified by simulation experiments. The simulation results show that the proposed approach can effectively solve the path planning and autonomous-obstacle-avoidance problems of drones in low-altitude flight missions. This theoretical paper takes as its starting point a question posed by Alvarez: 'how does a sense of a durable object get built up?'. The paper considers one dimension of the earliest processes of post-natal primitive psychic life and organisation, relevant to Alvarez's question: the formation and development, at a micro level, of an internal sense of duration of object and self, leading to a sense of continuation and continuity; and how over time this in turn forms a foundation for the experience of 'going on being' and sense of self. Sander's concept of 'organized states of consciousness' in earliest post-natal life is drawn on to elucidate the prerequisite for the development of a sense of duration. The role and significance of 'biorhythmicity' and rhythm in infancy are discussed, in relation to the development of a sense of duration. The development of a sense of duration is in turn linked to the development of a sense of time. Observational material from an Emotional State Assessment of a Looked After infant in foster care, and clinical material from the four times weekly individual psychotherapy of a Looked After two-year-old, are used to illustrate the development of a sense of duration. Expressing head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) in the spherical harmonic (SH) domain has been thoroughly studied as a method of obtaining continuity over space. However, HRTFs are functions not only of direction but also of frequency. This paper presents an extension of the SH-based method, utilizing hyperspherical harmonics (HSHs) to obtain an HRTF representation that is continuous over both space and frequency. The application of the HSH approximation results in a relatively small set of coefficients which can be decoded into HRTF values at any direction and frequency. The paper discusses results obtained by applying the method to magnitude spectra extracted from exemplary HRTF measurements. The HRTF representations based on SHs and HSHs exhibit similar reproduction accuracy, with the latter one featuring continuity over both space and frequency and requiring much lower number of coefficients. This paper presents a model of the continuous structure of Cognition based on several theses proposed by Charles S. Peirce in his youth and in his mature period. In this model, cognitions are discontinuous parts on a continuum and a cognitive process becomes "individually-synthetic," as a hypostatic abstraction from discontinuous transformations of informational fluxes in the continuous course of experience. That is, they are salient regions or neighborhoods on a continuum rather than points, and the relations of succession and precession among them are inferential, fluid, time sensitive, and goal-directed. First, this paper will outline the theses found in the young Peirce's work, which inspire a conception of continuous Cognition. Two questions will be raised regarding such a conception: (1) at what point does a particular act of cognition conclude? and (2) how should we characterize individual cognitions? To address these questions, the paper will later introduce the concept of continuity that Peirce developed in his mature years. The synthetic character of the continuum leads to the formulation of the concepts of neighborhood and synthetic individuality. These notions support the conception of a continuous model of Cognition in which the relations of succession and precession between individual finite cognitions are explained. The paper ends with a brief reflection regarding the possibility of developing this model of continuous Cognition as a theory of extended cognition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
