CLASSIFICATION of patents, GOVERNMENT agencies, DATABASES, INFORMATION retrieval, INTERNATIONAL relations, INFORMATION resources
Abstract
The article discusses the use of the Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC) system that replaces the patent classification system being used by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The CPC project is seen to eliminate duplicative searches and is also the first step in the development of the Common Hybrid Classification (CHC), a single classification scheme for all patent offices worldwide. CPC's code will be revised continuously to keep apace with rapidly changing technologies.
