This paper investigates the situation of the Romanian furniture industry in the context of EU integration with a special emphasis on exports. First, the evolution of Romanian furniture exports is analyzed using revealed comparative advantage as a measure of performance. Then, the impact of EU integration on the furniture-producing and exporting companies is assessed in terms of costs and benefits. Finally, some policy recommendations are issued for Romanian firms in the furniture industry based on their present situation and on the challenges imposed by the Single Market of the EU.
