The study compared the bibliometric parameters of scholarly communications published in COLLNET Journal of Scientometrics & Information Management (CJSIM) and Journal of Scientometric Research (JSR) from 2012 to 2021. Different bibliometric parameters examined in the study are pattern of output during 2012 to 2021, identification of most prolific countries and their citation impact in terms of Citation Per Paper (CPP), i-10 index and Papers not Cited (PnC). Study also identified prolific institutions and authors and their citation impact besides examining pattern of citation. The study also examined the pattern of domestic and international collaboration. Findings of the study indicate that the pattern of output is inconsistent in both the journals. The output is scattered among 39 countries in CJSIM and 50 countries in JSR. India followed by Iran contributed the highest number of papers in both the journals. Most of the prolific institutions and authors were from India in both the journals. More number of papers remained uncited in CJSIM as compared to JSR. More number of papers were published in domestic collaboration in JSR as compared to CJSIM. However, papers published in international collaboration in both the journals was almost equal. Among all the countries, China published the highest number of papers in international collaboration in CJSIM, but no such trend was observed in JSR. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: This study has two primary objectives. Firstly, it aims to measure the time savings achieved through the digitization of paper forms filled out by nurses in the inpatient care process. Secondly, it seeks to reveal the financial savings resulting from reduced paper consumption due to the digitalization. The Health Information Management System Society (HIMSS)--Electronic Medical Record Adaption Model (EMRAM), which makes stage-based (0--7) evaluations, serves as a tool to measure the rate of technology utilization in public hospitals in Turkey. The study is based on the HIMSS EMRAM criteria for 2018. Bahçelievler State Hospital, a public hospital in Turkey, was chosen as the research facility. In 2017, it was accredited as Stage 6 with HIMSS EMRAM. However, not all its wards have been digitalized. Initially, pilot selected wards were digitized. Therefore, digital and non-digital wards serve together. In this context, 4 wards were randomly selected and time, paper and toner savings before and after digitalization were measured. Method: A table was created in Microsoft Excel,listing the forms used by nurses in inpatient care and the time required to fill them out.The time spent for filling paper-based forms and digital-based forms was measured in randomly selected wards. Result: The analysis showed that digital forms saved more time, paper and toner. For example, filling out the patient history form took 45 min when using paper, compared to 12 min in digital environment. Approximately 27% time savings are achieved only for the patient history form. The total time savings delivered by digitalization for 1,153 inpatients during the year were found as 117 care days, and the savings on total paper consumption was 41.289 pages. For 1,153 inpatients throughout the year, the total time savings from digitalization was 117 care days and the total paper consumption savings was 41,289 pages. In addition, in 4 wards with a total bed capacity of 25, annual paper savings of $1,705.86 and toner savings of $283,736 were achieved. Discussion: This study reveals the benefits of digitalisation in hospitals for nurses. It saves the time that nurses allocate for filling out paper forms with digitalised forms. Thus, it is a good practice example in terms of using the time allocated for form filling for patient care.When we extend this study to Turkey in general, it can be considered that the time savings achieved by nurses by digitizing inpatient forms varies between 10.8% and 13%. The number of nurses working in public hospitals in Turkey is approximately 160,000. Assuming that 60% of the nurses work in the inpatient ward, it is understood that the annual savings achieved by digitizing the forms corresponds to a range of 398--559 nursing hours. The apps for drawing are present in our children's life. Nevertheless, little is known about the impact of mobile technology on the freehand drawing educational activity. There are few works which are contextualised within short periods of time, with teachers who are not theirs and, in some cases, outside the children's classroom. In this paper, we are focussed on the use of technology on freehand drawing activity. Thus, we have compared the graphics produced by 4- and 5-year-old children with paper&crayon in comparison with those with tablet-finger. Children made the drawings during a planned free-drawing activity, in their ordinary classrooms, with their teachers and during five sessions. Assessment of drawings has evidenced tablet feasibility for making graphics. Nevertheless, with the passing of time, quality of graphics (tablet-finger vs paper&crayons), are nearly matched, demonstrating the low impact level technology has on this activity. In addition, if drawings are analysed specifically according to ages, results have shown that both groups have to develop adaptation strategies of visual perceptual skills and fine motor skills for the touch screen in order to obtain the same quality in the drawings made on both support types. Natural and synthetic esters are increasingly being chosen instead of mineral oil for environmental and fire safety reasons. However, their use in power transformers is limited due to insufficiently well-understood ageing processes affecting their properties and the properties of cellulosic materials impregnated with them. The research results presented in many scientific papers prove that the use of esters slows the ageing process of cellulosic materials. This article presents the results of research aimed at answering the question of whether the effect of slowing the ageing process will also occur in the case of insulation with very low initial moisture. The answer to this question will allow us to better understand the role of water in the ageing process of the transformer's insulation system. The thermal ageing process was carried out at a temperature of 150 °C in closed systems. The degree of cellulose polymerisation was taken as a measure of the degree of paper ageing. Great attention was paid to measuring the water content in both paper and electro-insulating liquids at various stages of their ageing. Furthermore, measurements of the properties of electro-insulating liquids were made, which are considered markers of ageing. The test results obtained indicate that in the case of a dry insulation system, corresponding to the initial moisture of the new units, the type of liquid used to impregnate the cellulosic material does not significantly affect its depolymerisation process. However, in the case of paper impregnated with natural esters, a lower dynamic of moisture increase in insulation was observed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: Blood clots are formed when blood vessels are injured. They help stop bleeding and heal wounds, but can also cause serious problems if they block blood flow or break off and travel to other organs. This study investigates how blood clots differ in people with cancer compared to healthy or non-cancerous individuals. This study found that cancer patients have higher levels of histones in their blood, which make their clots stiffer and resistant to lysis. Further, clots formed in cancer patients have higher viscoelastic properties, and hence are harder to break down. These findings suggest that cancer patients have abnormal clotting properties that may increase their risk of developing thrombosis, and evaluating these properties can be helpful in detecting cancer. Background: Blood viscoelasticity and plasma protein levels can play an important role in the diagnosis and prognosis of cancer. However, the role of histones and DNA in modulating blood clot properties remains to be investigated. This study investigates the differences in blood viscoelasticity and plasma protein levels among cancer patients, individuals with other diseases, and healthy individuals. Methods: Blood samples were collected from 101 participants, including 45 cancer patients, 22 healthy individuals, and 34 individuals with other diseases. Rheological properties of clots formed in vitro by reconstituted elements of fibrinogen or plasma were analyzed with an Anton Paar Rheometer, USA. Plasma protein levels of D-dimer, TPA, EPCR, fibrinogen, and histone H3 were measured through ELISA. Blood clots were formed with or without DNA and histones (H3) by adding thrombin and calcium to plasma samples, and were evaluated for viscoelasticity, permeability, and degradation. Results: Cancer patients show higher blood viscoelasticity and plasma D-dimer levels compared to healthy individuals and individuals with other diseases. Our in vitro analysis showed that the addition of histone to the plasma results in a significant decrease in viscoelasticity and mean fiber thickness of the clot formed thereafter. In parallel studies, using plasma from patients, DNA and histones were detected in fibrin clots and were associated with less degradation by t-PA. Moreover, our results show that the presence of DNA and histones not only increases clots' permeability, but also makes them more prone to degradation. Conclusions: Plasma histones and DNA affect the structure of the clot formed and induce defective fibrinolysis. Bamboo has being used as alternative raw material for construction, reinforcing fibers, paper production, among other applications. Although its recognized potentials as raw material, there are doubts about its environmental performance compared to traditional wood-based products, including paper production, which hinders bamboo-based paper plants in large scales. This study aims to assess the environmental performance of producing office paper from bamboo. Emergy synthesis (with 'm') and global warming potential indicators are calculated and compared with the traditional eucalyptus paper-based production. Results highlights the importance in including the renewability fractions of each input resources into emergy calculations for production systems with high human-labor intensity such as the bamboo agricultural production. Office paper produced from bamboo has similar renewability (28%), moderate environmental load (3.23 vs. 2.49), and emergy unsustainability (0.34 vs. 0.60) compared to paper produced from eucalyptus, but bamboo showed lower performance for global efficiency (568 vs. 442 sej/ton paper), emergy yield (1.09 vs. 1.49), and emergy investment (10.79 vs. 2.05). Focusing on global warming potential, office paper produced from bamboo releases 98 kgCO 2 eq. /ton paper compared to 56–267 kgCO 2 eq. /ton paper for eucalyptus. Notwithstanding, bamboo-based office paper demands four times more land area of agricultural production than eucalyptus, but it has a positive social aspect by requiring higher amount of direct human labor. This work shows the advantages of using eucalyptus rather than bamboo in producing office paper from an emergy and land demand perspectives, while global warming can still be considered inconclusive. Rapid automatized naming (RAN) is a powerful predictor of reading fluency, and many digitized dyslexia screeners include RAN as an essential component. However, the validity of digitized RAN has not been established. Using a sample of 174 second-graders, this study tested (1) the comparability between paper and digitized versions of RAN and (2) the validity of the digitized version. We found that paper and digital versions were highly correlated, and such correlation was consistent across students' reading levels. Further, the digital RAN predicted children's word reading proficiency as well as the paper version. Moreover, the constructs measured by paper and digital versions of RAN were comparable. Donor human milk (DHM) from a milk bank is the recommended feeding method for preterm infants when the mother's own milk (MOM) is not available. Despite this recommendation, information on the possible contamination of donor human milk and its impact on infant health outcomes is poorly characterised. The aim of this systematic review is to assess contaminants present in DHM samples that preterm and critically ill infants consume. The data sources used include PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL and Web of Science. A search of the data sources targeting DHM and its potential contaminants yielded 426 publications. Two reviewers (S. T. and D. L.) conducted title/abstract screening through Covidence software, and predetermined inclusion/exclusion criteria yielded 26 manuscripts. Contaminant types (bacterial, chemical, fungal, viral) and study details (e.g., type of bacteria identified, study setting) were extracted from each included study during full‐text review. Primary contaminants in donor human milk included bacterial species and environmental pollutants. We found that bacterial contaminants were identified in 100% of the papers in which bacterial contamination was sought (16 papers) and 61.5% of the full data set (26 papers), with the most frequently identified genera being Staphylococcus (e.g., Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase‐negative Staphylococcus) and Bacillus (e.g., Bacillus cereus). Chemical pollutants were discovered in 100% of the papers in which chemical contamination was sought (eight papers) and 30.8% of the full data set (26 papers). The most frequently identified chemical pollutants included perfluoroalkyl substances (six papers), toxic metal (one paper) and caffeine (one paper). Viral and fungal contamination were identified in one paper each. Our results highlight the importance of establishing standardisation in assessing DHM contamination and future studies are needed to clarify the impact of DHM contaminants on health outcomes. Key messages: Research regarding chemical contamination in donor human milk (DHM) is limited and needs to be studied further to draw appropriate conclusions on reducing potential risks for infants.Parents/guardians should be educated on the availability of DHM as a supplemental feeding option and made aware of the current research in the field.DHM use requires further standardisation both within the United States and abroad. This standardisation should ensure that risks are not overemphasised and DHM is a cost‐effective, accessible resource as a short‐term intervention when used appropriately as part of optimal lactation and breastfeeding support. Augmented reality (AR) technology is revolutionizing traditional assembly processes, offering intuitive and interactive guidance that significantly enhances operational efficiency and accuracy. This study investigates the impact of AR on the assembly of Turtlebots, a complex task representative of industrial applications. Through a comparative analysis involving traditional paper manuals, modified paper manuals, and AR-based manuals, the benefits of AR integration are quantitatively assessed. Participants utilizing AR-based manuals completed the Turtlebot assembly 21.72% faster than those using traditional paper manuals, with a notable reduction in assembly time from an average of 03:00:40 to 02:21:26. Furthermore, the incidence of assembly errors significantly decreased, with AR manual users making an average of 2.25 errors compared to 5 by paper manual users. These findings underscore the potential of AR to expedite complex assembly tasks and enhance the accuracy of these processes. The study highlights the novel application of AR in improving both the speed and quality of assembly in an industrial context, demonstrating AR’s role as a pivotal technology for the future of manufacturing. This paper intricately examines Vhavenda indigenous governance systems in juxtaposition with the modern administrative systems in South Africa. Through a comparative analysis using qualitative research methods and secondary data analysis, the paper reveals nuanced strengths and weaknesses in each framework, suggesting avenues for collaborative synergy and improved service provision in rural areas. Purposive and snowball sampling, along with a focus group discussion, were employed for data collection. Textbooks, academic journals, papers, and online sources were analysed. This empirical research paper conducts a comparative analysis of the recovery strategies implemented and their significance on countries with different economic affluence such as the US and Brazil, during the Great Depression. The most significant measures included the New Deal for the US and coffee valorization for Brazil. This study focuses on examining the recovery strategies adopted by these countries and comparing them which is scarce. The hypothesis for this research is: "The more affluent country (US) has more effective recovery strategies than the less affluent country (Brazil)." By shedding light on the differing experiences of 'rich' and 'poor' nations during the Great Depression, this research provides valuable insights into the challenges faced by countries with varying economic statuses. Prior research papers and Figures were used to calculate the rise in GDP of both countries during the 1929-1939 period, which resulted in Brazil having a 44% increase in GDP and the US 40%, proving the hypothesis incorrect. However, this can be attributed to the importance of tailored recovery approaches based on a nation's development level and specific circumstances exhibiting Brazil's massive economic success. This study is trying to address the critical need for efficient routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) from dynamic topologies that pose great challenges because of the mobility of nodes. The main objective was to delve into and refine the application of the Dijkstra's algorithm in this context, a method conventionally esteemed for its efficiency in static networks. Thus, this paper has carried out a comparative theoretical analysis with the Bellman-Ford algorithm, considering adaptation to the dynamic network conditions that are typical for MANETs. This paper has shown through detailed algorithmic analysis that Dijkstra's algorithm, when adapted for dynamic updates, yields a very workable solution to the problem of real-time routing in MANETs. The results indicate that with these changes, Dijkstra's algorithm performs much better computationally and 30% better in routing optimization than Bellman-Ford when working with configurations of sparse networks. The theoretical framework adapted, with the adaptation of the Dijkstra's algorithm for dynamically changing network topologies, is novel in this work and quite different from any traditional application. The adaptation should offer more efficient routing and less computational overhead, most apt in the limited resource environment of MANETs. Thus, from these findings, one may derive a conclusion that the proposed version of Dijkstra's algorithm is the best and most feasible choice of the routing protocol for MANETs given all pertinent key performance and resource consumption indicators and further that the proposed method offers a marked improvement over traditional methods. This paper, therefore, operationalizes the theoretical model into practical scenarios and also further research with empirical simulations to understand more about its operational effectiveness. Purpose: The purpose of this paper was to extend the current knowledge on the impacts of activity-based workplaces (ABWs) on productivity in knowledge work. It offers more background information that is needed to properly evaluate ABWs' suitability for different organisations. In the results section, ABWs are compared to the cellular and open-plan office types. Design/methodology/approach: This study was conducted using a survey method with 5,841 respondents. The data were collected between 2015 and 2019 from 32 public-sector organisations. Findings: The findings of this paper reveal that ABWs offer clear advantages over the other office types but requires careful design and well-implemented solutions. The superiority between ABWs and cellular offices also depends on workers' profiles and needs and is not for everyone. Practical implications: For practitioners, this paper offers valuable information to compare the three office types: ABW, cellular and open-plan. It also highlights the importance of careful planning and good implementation, which are both essential to making the ABW environment productive for employees. Finally, this paper clearly provides evidence that ABWs and open-plan offices differ in their facilities and productivity. Originality/value: This paper included a unique and large sample with open variables, which are fairly rare in ABW-related papers. Background: Drug repositioning has the potential to reduce costs and accelerate the rate of drug development, with highly promising applications. Currently, the development of artificial intelligence has provided the field with fast and efficient computing power. Nevertheless, the repositioning of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is still in its infancy, and the establishment of a reasonable and effective research method is a pressing issue that requires urgent attention. The use of graph neural network (GNN) to compute the similarity between TCM prescriptions to develop a method for finding their new indications is an innovative attempt. Methods: This paper focused on traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions containing ephedra, with 20 prescriptions for treating external cough and asthma taken as target prescriptions. The remaining 67 prescriptions containing ephedra were taken as to-be-matched prescriptions. Furthermore, a multitude of data pertaining to the prescriptions, including diseases, disease targets, symptoms, and various types of information on herbs, was gathered from a diverse array of literature sources, such as Chinese medicine databases. Then, cosine similarity and Jaccard coefficient were calculated to characterize the similarity between prescriptions using graph convolutional network (GCN) with a self-supervised learning method, such as deep graph infomax (DGI). Results: A total of 1340 values were obtained for each of the two calculation indicators. A total of 68 prescription pairs were identified after screening with 0.77 as the threshold for cosine similarity. Following the removal of false positive results, 12 prescription pairs were deemed to have further research value. A total of 5 prescription pairs were screened using a threshold of 0.50 for the Jaccard coefficient. However, the specific results did not exhibit significant value for further use, which may be attributed to the excessive variety of information in the dataset. Conclusions: The proposed method can provide reference for finding new indications of target prescriptions by quantifying the similarity between prescriptions. Purpose: Given the magnitude of the literature, a researcher must be selective of research papers and publications in general. In other words, only papers that meet strict standards of academic integrity and adhere to reliable and credible sources should be referenced. The purpose of this paper is to approach this issue from the prism of scientometrics according to the following research questions: Is it necessary to judge the quality of scientific production? How do we evaluate scientific production? What are the tools to be used in evaluation? Design/methodology/approach: This paper presents a comparative study of scientometric evaluation practices and tools. A systematic literature review is conducted based on articles published in the field of scientometrics between 1951 and 2022. To analyze data, the authors performed three different aspects of analysis: usage analysis based on classification and comparison between the different scientific evaluation practices, type and level analysis based on classifying different scientometric indicators according to their types and application levels and similarity analysis based on studying the correlation between different quantitative metrics to identify similarity between them. Findings: This comparative study leads to classify different scientific evaluation practices into externalist and internalist approaches. The authors categorized the different quantitative metrics according to their types (impact, production and composite indicators), their levels of application (micro, meso and macro) and their use (internalist and externalist). Moreover, the similarity analysis has revealed a high correlation between several scientometric indicators such as author h-index, author publications, citations and journal citations. Originality/value: The interest in this study lies deeply in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of research groups and guides their actions. This evaluation contributes to the advancement of scientific research and to the motivation of researchers. Moreover, this paper can be applied as a complete in-depth guide to help new researchers select appropriate measurements to evaluate scientific production. The selection of evaluation measures is made according to their types, usage and levels of application. This paper employs the Panel Vector Autoregression (PVAR) method to examine the dynamic interrelationship between Economic Policy Uncertainty (EPU) and stock market returns. The existing literature has not reached a consensus on the relationship between EPU and stock market returns, and there is a lack of comparative analysis of domestic and foreign EPU. Therefore, this paper is the first to incorporate domestic and foreign EPU, stock market returns, and output into a unified framework, considering the dual impact of domestic and foreign EPU shocks. Additionally, the generalizability of the results is ensured by including a large sample of nine emerging and eleven advanced economies. The main findings are as follows: First, a positive shock to foreign EPU leads to a decline in stock market returns and is stronger than the impact of domestic EPU. Second, a positive shock to stock market returns reduces both domestic and foreign EPU. Third, a rise in stock market returns promotes domestic output growth, while increases in domestic and foreign EPU suppress domestic output growth. The rise of the Internet of Things (IoT) has led to an increased risk of cyber attacks on IoT devices, including botnet attacks. Botnets are networks of compromised devices that can be controlled remotely by cybercriminals to carry out malicious activities, such as distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. The Mirai botnet is one of the most notorious botnets that have caused significant damage to IoT devices worldwide. To protect IoT devices from such attacks, intrusion detection systems (IDSs) are used to detect and mitigate attacks. However, the effectiveness of IDSs against botnet attacks is still a subject of debate, as botnets are becoming more sophisticated and difficult to detect. To address this issue, this research paper aims to analyse and compare the effectiveness of three widely used IDSs, namely Snort, Zeek, and Suricata, against the Mirai botnet. The study involves simulating Mirai botnet attacks in a controlled environment and evaluating the performance of each IDS in terms of detection and mitigation capabilities. The findings of this research can help organisations to select and implement effective IDSs to mitigate the impact of botnet attacks on IoT devices. By understanding the strengths and weaknesses of different IDSs, organisations can improve the security of their IoT devices and reduce the risk of cyber attacks. Content-Based Histopathological Image Retrieval (CBHIR) is a search technique based on the visual content and histopathological features of whole-slide images (WSIs). CBHIR tools assist pathologists to obtain a faster and more accurate cancer diagnosis. Stain variation between hospitals hampers the performance of CBHIR tools. This paper explores the effects of color normalization (CN) in a recently proposed CBHIR approach to tackle this issue. In this paper, three different CN techniques were used on the CAMELYON17 (CAM17) data set, which is a breast cancer data set. CAM17 consists of images taken using different staining protocols and scanners in five hospitals. Our experiments reveal that a proper CN technique, which can transfer the color version into the most similar median values, has a positive impact on the retrieval performance of the proposed CBHIR framework. According to the obtained results, using CN as a pre-processing step can improve the accuracy of the proposed CBHIR framework to 97% (a 14 % increase), compared to working with the original images. This paper begins by investigating a power quality problem in the case study area using monthly energy consumption data, the peak and minimum load of the substation, a fault summary, and the RMS voltage profile of the case study area. The content of the paper comprises three parts: the first involves MATLAB design and simulation of D-STATCOM with a fuzzy logic controller for the selected case study area. The second part entails MATLAB design and simulation of the DVR with a fuzzy logic controller. The final part presents a hybrid of the DVR and the D-STATCOM back-to-back using a DC link capacitor to implement a more recent and effective power quality improvement technique, namely UPQC. In the case of a three-phase fault, the voltage sag in the case study area is 0.6PU, with the remaining 0.4PU drop-down voltage requiring injection using the proposed FACT device for compensation. All proposed power quality problem mitigation techniques inject the required voltage and compensate for the voltage sag in the substation. For instance, D-STATCOM compensates the RMS voltage from 9KV to 14KV, DVR compensates the RMS voltage from 9KV to 14.7 KV, and UPQC compensates the value to 14.9KV. Due to the three-phase fault, the rise in reactive power of the existing outgoing feeder is 13MW. This unexpected rise in reactive power is reduced to 2.6 MW using D-STATCOM, DVR reduces it to 1.2 MW, and UPQC reduces the value below 1MW. The existing power factor of the case study area without any mitigation technique is 0.68. All proposed techniques improve the existing power factor to a more acceptable value. For instance, D-STATCOM improves the power factor from 0.68 to 0.83, DVR improves the value to 0.88, and UPQC, the more accurate power quality mitigation technique, improves the power factor to 0.93. With the rapid development of China's economy and society, the innovation of grassroots social governance has become increasingly important. This paper constructs 35 grassroots social governance innovation samples. Using the TOE theoretical framework and a fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA), this paper analyzes the joint effects and interactive relationships of multiple factors on grassroots social governance innovation performance from three dimensions: technology, organization, and environment. The research reveals that internal environmental openness is a necessary condition for achieving high innovation performance in grassroots social governance, and proposes four grouping models that affect the performance of grassroots social governance innovation. This paper explores the inner logic of grassroots social governance innovation from a histological perspective, and on this basis proposes an adaptive path to enhance the performance of grassroots social governance innovation. This paper explores the knowledge network structure of foreign research literature by applying the qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) method to the field of information science and library science (ISLS) from the perspective of the cocitation of social network actors such as authors, institutions, countries, and literature, and it further reveals the future application trends of this method. [Method/process] Based on 86 journals in the ISLS field that were downloaded from the Web of Science using the QCA method, the social network analysis (SNA) method and the visual analysis tool Gephi are used to analyse the author cooperation network, the research institution cooperation network, the national cooperation network, the cocitation network, the cutting-edge trends, etc., of journal papers. The analysis shows that the QCA method covers a wide range within the field of ISLS, but the research topics involved in this field are not concentrated, and the author cooperation network has scale-free characteristics. The application of the QCA method is still dominant in European and American countries, and China, the USA, and Italy all play key roles in the national cooperation network. Due to their lack of periodontal ligaments (PLs) and the differences between dental implants and natural teeth, it is necessary to improve and generate a new occlusal scheme to prolong the life of implants and prostheses. The age and the sex of patients must be considered because of their effects on the stomatognathic system's physiology. Operators must manage all the changes to obtain good sensations during mastication and a better occlusal scheme for implanting fixed partial prostheses. Dentists should try to protect this type of prosthesis using adjacent teeth and the PL. This is why new digital systems were created. The combination of T-Scan® (digital software for occlusal analysis) and electromyography (EMG) could allow doctors to find areas where it is necessary to act and to find suitable solutions for the problems generated by using conventional methods of occlusal analysis (such as articulating paper). In this study, a new method for establishing occlusion on fixed partial implant prostheses has been created, combining digital systems with conventional articulating paper. This method consists of asking the patient to bite down with different forces and situations in an attempt to achieve Implant-Protected Occlusion (IPO). The use of digital systems has been shown to be more effective than using only conventional systems. This new method allows a safer mode of occlusion which protects implants and prostheses, saving all the differences between them and natural teeth, and increasing the satisfaction of patients. Franchising has played a pivotal role in driving China's economic growth in recent years. With the prominent problem of franchise asymmetry, the protection of franchisees has emerged as a significant concern. This paper conducts a comparative study of franchisee protection practices under franchising regulation in China and certain jurisdictions such as the United States, Australia, and Malaysia. This paper aims to analyze three aspects of franchisee protection, including information disclosure, registration, liability, and relief for violations. To this end, the researchers adopted library data collection methods. Franchisingrelated laws, regulations, rules, and cases are the primary data sources, while journals, books, industry reports, and network resources are the secondary data sources. The results of this study show that although China's franchisee protection is generally in line with international practice, there is still room for further improvement. The authors proposed recommendations such as strictly implementing registration requirements, introducing a disclosure exemption system, specifying the exact duration of the cooling-off period, and diversifying dispute resolution. The primary objective of this research paper is to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the process of developing briefs for Public–Private Partnership (PPP) projects. The study aims to outline the fundamental stages, standard processes, and critical decision points involved in this process. This is achieved through a comparative analysis of briefing frameworks used in three countries that are among the top in the PPP Market Maturity chart: The United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada. The paper discusses the stages and decision points within these countries' briefing processes, highlighting their challenges, similarities, and differences. It emphasizes the fundamental role of effective communication and coordination in PPP projects, which involve multiple stakeholders. By examining these interconnected activities and analyzing the phases, stages, and key processes constituting the briefing process, the study provides valuable insights into the PPP briefing processes in these nations. Effective inventory management is crucial for optimizing resources and ensuring smooth maintenance operations. This paper explores two primary replenishment systems-Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) and Order Level Control-designed to address the challenges posed by demand variability and lead-time uncertainty. The EOQ model determines the optimal order size to minimize total inventory costs, while replenishment systems guide the timing of orders. We analyze the Fixed Order Quantity System (Q System), which maintains a constant order size with variable ordering frequency, and the Fixed Order Interval System (P System), which fixes the ordering intervals but varies the order size. Each system's advantages and challenges are discussed, highlighting their applicability based on demand stability, lead-time consistency, and inventory value. Through a comparative analysis, this paper provides insights into selecting the appropriate replenishment strategy to achieve efficient inventory control, cost minimization, and resource optimization. Stroke is a high morbidity and mortality disease that poses a serious threat to people's health. Early recognition of the various warning signs of stroke is necessary so that timely clinical intervention can help reduce the severity of stroke. Deep neural networks have powerful feature representation capabilities and can automatically learn discriminant features from large amounts of data. This paper uses a range of physiological characteristic parameters and collaborates with deep neural networks, such as the Wasserstein generative adversarial networks with gradient penalty and regression network, to construct a stroke prediction model. Firstly, to address the problem of imbalance between positive and negative samples in the stroke public data set, we performed positive sample data augmentation and utilized WGAN‐GP to generate stroke data with high fidelity and used it for the training of the prediction network model. Then, the relationship between observable physiological characteristic parameters and the predicted risk of suffering a stroke was modeled as a nonlinear mapping transformation, and a stroke prediction model based on a deep regression network was designed. Finally, the proposed method is compared with commonly used machine learning‐based classification algorithms such as decision tree, random forest, support vector machine, and artificial neural networks. The prediction results of the proposed method are optimal in the comprehensive measurement index F. This special issue presents a collection of conversation-analytic and interactional-linguistic studies concerned with the cross-linguistic analysis of requests for confirmation (RfC) and requests for reconfirmation (RfRCs) as two distinct types of polar questions. In this paper, we outline a characterisation of the two actions with reference to their epistemic gradient and their sequential design, which does not take specific linguistic resources as its starting point and thus lends itself to comparative analysis. We review previous research on the linguistic design of RfCs and RfRCs and the responses they invite in different languages before we summarise the main findings of the papers in this issue. Population growth and environmental burden have turned the efforts of cities globally toward smarter and greener mobility. Cooperative and Connected Automated Mobility (CCAM) serves as a concept with the power and potential to help achieve these goals building on technological fields like Internet of Things, computer vision, and distributed computing. However, its implementation is hindered by various challenges covering technical parameters such as performance and reliability in tandem with other issues, such as safety, accountability, and trust. To overcome these issues, new distributed and decentralized approaches like blockchain and smart contracts are needed. This paper identifies a comprehensive inventory of CCAM challenges including technical, social, and ethical challenges. It then describes the most prominent methodologies using blockchain and smart contracts to address them. A comparative analysis of the findings follows, to draw useful conclusions and discuss future directions in CCAM and relevant blockchain applications. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are characterized by heterogeneous traffic types (audio, video, data) and diverse application traffic requirements. This paper introduces three traffic classes following the defined model of heterogeneous traffic differentiation in WSNs. The requirements for each class regarding sensitivity to QoS (Quality of Service) parameters, such as loss, delay, and jitter, are described. These classes encompass real-time and delay-tolerant traffic. Given that QoS evaluation is a multi-criteria decision-making problem, we employed the AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) method for multi-criteria optimization. As a result of this approach, we derived weight values for different traffic classes based on key QoS factors and requirements. These weights are assigned to individual traffic classes to determine transmission priority. This study provides a thorough comparative analysis of the proposed model against existing methods, demonstrating its superior performance across various traffic scenarios and its implications for future WSN applications. The results highlight the model’s adaptability and robustness in optimizing network resources under varying conditions, offering insights into practical deployments in real-world scenarios. Additionally, the paper includes an analysis of energy consumption, underscoring the trade-offs between QoS performance and energy efficiency. Purpose: In traditional methods, a one-directional distance transformation is employed to eliminate the near-singularity in the radial direction. However, when the projection point of the source point is near the boundary of the integral element, the near-singularity in the circumferential direction still exists, resulting in large errors in the numerical results. The purpose of this paper is to propose a bi-directional distance transformation for the elimination of near-singularities in two directions arising from the irregular integral element. Design/methodology/approach: The sources of the circumferential near-singularity caused by irregular sub-triangular element are analyzed in this paper. A bi-directional distance transformation based on the (a, β) transformation is proposed to eliminate the near-singularities in the two directions. The (a, β) transformation is initially introduced to separate the integral variables and streamline the implementation of subsequent transformations. In the transformed (a, β) coordinate system, a new distance transformation applied in the circumferential direction is constructed. Findings: With the proposed method, the radial and circumferential near-singularities are eliminated using two different distance transformations, respectively. Thus, accurate calculations of the nearly singular integrals can be achieved, irrespective of the shape of the integral element. Originality/value: Numerical examples are presented to calculate the nearly singular integrals of different orders over both the linear integral element and the quadratic integral element. Background: Menstruators facing period poverty often struggle with menstrual hygiene and waste management, which can result in harmful short- and long-term health outcomes such as urinary tract infections, yeast infections, and vulvar contact dermatitis. Research indicates that 42% of menstruators in the United States have difficulty affording period products. Traditional methods of distributing period products through social services may unintentionally undermine menstruators' agency, leading to disempowerment and inefficient resource allocation. Period product pantries are a novel approach aimed at addressing period poverty, inequity, and inadequate menstrual health education in the United States. Objectives: This paper aims to examine the development, organization, and implementation of two distinct period product pantry networks in Ohio and New York. It seeks to compare the advantages and challenges of grassroots versus nonprofit-led models and to provide practical insights for future pantry operators. Design: The study examines two models of period product pantries: a grassroots effort led by three local residents in Ohio and an initiative spearheaded by a nonprofit organization in New York. The design includes a comparative analysis of both models' organization, funding methods, and operational structures. Methods: The authors gathered data on the construction, operation, and usage of two pantry networks, focusing on factors such as accessibility, community engagement, and sustainability. The study employed a combination of qualitative methods, including interviews with organizers, and a review of organizational documents to analyze the effectiveness and scalability of each model. Results: Both pantry networks increased accessibility to period products in low socioeconomic neighborhoods, which are disproportionately affected by period poverty. The grassroots model, while resource-limited, fostered strong community ties and local engagement. The nonprofit-led model benefited from dedicated staff and a more stable funding structure but faced bureaucratic challenges. Despite their differences, both models demonstrated the potential to empower menstruators by preserving their dignity and autonomy. Conclusions: Period product pantries represent an innovative and equitable approach to addressing period poverty and inequity. Adopting a hermeneutic approach and horizontal and vertical interpretation methods, this study primarily explores the metaphysical concept of loveinduced mystic intoxication in the Iranian polymath Mullā Muḥsin Fayḍ Kāshānī's mystic poetry. Secondarily, it discusses the implications of mystic intoxication in the meaning of life. Furthermore, the paper briefly positions Fayḍ Kāshānī's account in the contemporary categories of the meaning of life: supernaturalism, naturalism, and nihilism. Additionally, elucidating the perspectives of the contemporary philosopher John Cottingham, the paper examines Kāshānī's view through Cottingham's philosophy. Central to Kāshānī's poetry, ignited by divine love, the spiritual seeker transcendends their self, getting absorbed into the Divine to the point where they become unaware of their self. This epistemic unawareness is mastī (intoxication) or bīkhudī (selflessness)--which, for Kāshānī, has profound implications on life's meaning. Unlike the "extreme God-centric" view--which situates the purpose of life solely in fulfilling God's purpose--Kāshānī's "moderate Godsoul-centric supernaturalist" view recognizes that while divine love, intoxication, and knowledge infuse more profound depth to the meaning of life, other aspects also add to the meaning in life--like the simpler forms of piety and everyday existence. A framework in which morality is instrumental. Similarly, for Cottingham, life has value and meaning beyond solely fulfilling God's purpose. Nevertheless, while basic pleasures and desires might independently exist and have meaning, higher elements like moral virtue, crucial to life's meaning, are contingent on God's purpose. This paper undertakes a comparative study of two poets from different cultures and eras: Jamil Buthainah, a late seventh-century Arab Udhri poet, and Sir Philip Sidney, an English Elizabethan poet. Based on Jamil Buthainah's Diwan and Sidney's sonnets in Astrophil and Stella, the analysis focuses on four shared thematic threads: the blamers and slanderers, the portrayal of the beloved, the beloved’s eyes, and the speakers’ idealization of their love objects. Rather than seeking to identify any influence of one poet on the other, as there was none, this study highlights the poets’ similar experiences in love—both were deeply in love but did not marry their beloveds. Additionally, both works exclusively address the theme of the speakers’ thwarted love for their women. This paper aims to explore the similarities and differences in how Jamil Buthainah and Sidney loved and expressed their love, examining where their experiences converge and diverge. Recent technological advancements are transforming the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry, focusing on digitalization and automation opportunities as drivers for improvement. In a realm as complex as building permitting, the drive for automation should be anchored in a comprehensive understanding of the process it seeks to transform. Furthermore, analyzing the process from a global perspective is essential for identifying opportunities for improvement. This article addresses the need for a systematic and robust approach to evaluate and compare building permit processes globally. Traditional approaches for process comparisons fail to capture the intricacies of a building permit process. Hence, in this paper, the authors propose and introduce the Process Analysis and Comparative Evaluation methodology, PACE-BP, which was tailored for building permit processes. The proposed method relies on a previously developed framework for process mapping which provides a comparable data set of building permit process maps in different countries. The comparative evaluation is then performed by assessing the maps based on predefined indicators, which are used to compile a representative vector for each process. The computational method for compiling the vectors and calculating the similarity measures between pairs of processes is described in detail. The application of PACE-BP for analyzing and comparing building permit processes in Germany, the US, Israel, and Italy is demonstrated in this paper. Our findings challenge the pursuit of a universal "best practice," emphasizing the need to balance priorities and stakeholder's objectives. The PACE-BP method is a powerful tool for policymakers and stakeholders, providing meaningful insight into existing processes and pinpointing drawbacks and limitations in current practices, while revealing opportunities for improvement. A 360° video offers a more immersive experience, gaining increasing popularity among users. However, enhancing the transmission efficiency of 360° videos under limited bandwidth conditions remains a significant challenge. This paper segments the video into three areas: the attention area, the edge area, and the viewpoint-switching transition area. Based on the segmentation of these three distinct video areas, a novel non-uniform coding transmission method for 360° videos is presented, along with mathematical modeling to define the optimization problem. A heuristic algorithm is subsequently introduced, which adaptively determines the optimal number of tiles and allocates the bitrate for each tile in real time to enhance the user's quality of experience (QoE). In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the design of neural network models for solving math word problems (MWPs). These neural solvers have been designed with various architectures and evaluated on diverse datasets, posing challenges in fair and effective performance evaluation. This paper presents a comparative study of representative neural solvers, aiming to elucidate their technical features and performance variations in solving different types of MWPs. Firstly, an in-depth technical analysis is conducted from the initial deep neural solver DNS to the state-of-the-art GPT-4. To enhance the technical analysis, a unified framework is introduced, which comprises highly reusable modules decoupled from existing MWP solvers. Subsequently, a testbed is established to conveniently reproduce existing solvers and develop new solvers by combing these reusable modules, and finely regrouped datasets are provided to facilitate the comparative evaluation of the designed solvers. Then, comprehensive testing is conducted and detailed results for eight representative MWP solvers on five finely regrouped datasets are reported. The comparative analysis yields several key findings: (1) Pre-trained language model-based solvers demonstrate significant accuracy advantages across nearly all datasets, although they suffer from limitations in math equation calculation. (2) Models integrated with tree decoders exhibit strong performance in generating complex math equations. (3) Identifying and appropriately representing implicit knowledge hidden in problem texts is crucial for improving the accuracy of math equation generation. Finally, the paper also discusses the major technical challenges and potential research directions in this field. To ensure unmanned vehicles can perform a sortie mission quickly, efficiently, safely and reliably after receiving the command, it is necessary to calculate the sortie mission reliability of the shipborne unmanned vehicle group before loading. Aimed at the layout and sortie characteristics of an unmanned vehicle group, a sortie mission network model and a calculation method for sortie mission reliability are designed in this paper. Firstly, this paper uses space partition to parallel search for equal-length minimal paths based on the two-terminal network reliability. Secondly, this paper adopts the sum of disjoint products to process the equal-length minimal path set, innovatively proposing a calculation method for the sortie mission reliability of the shipborne unmanned vehicle group. Finally, the sortie mission reliability for three typical cases was calculated and compared with the Monte Carlo method. The comparative analysis indicates that the proposed method is both accurate and efficient, thereby corroborating its scientific validity and practical effectiveness. This study fills the gap in the field of sortie mission reliability and lays a theoretical foundation for subsequent research. In order to reveal the impact of hydrodynamic conditions on the transport and diffusion of pollutants in Liaodong Bay in China, this article uses MIKE21 to establish a numerical model to simulate the hydrodynamic mechanisms of tidal currents and residual currents in Liaodong Bay. The model has been calibrated using observation data from 10 stations, and the simulation results of the tidal currents, Euler residual currents, Lagrangian residual currents, and particle tracking in Liaodong Bay have been calculated. Subsequently, a comparative analysis is conducted based on the abovementioned data and measured data, exploring the impact of hydrodynamic conditions on the transport and diffusion of COD in Liaodong Bay. The research results in this article indicate that high concentration COD areas are mainly concentrated in the coastal areas around the estuary of the Liao River and the Daliao River, and river input is the main source of COD in Liaodong Bay. The Euler residual circulation can form COD enrichment in some areas, which is significantly higher than the background concentration, and the large-scale transportation of COD after entering Liaodong Bay is determined by the Lagrangian residual current. The particle tracking results in the estuarine area can effectively characterize the actual transportation of pollutants. The results of the Lagrangian residual flow and particle tracking in the bay indicate that river pollutants are mainly transported to the west bank after entering Liaodong Bay. The distribution of a COD concentration of 1.5 mg/L confirms this finding. The research findings presented in this paper offer valuable insights into the spatial distribution and transportation mechanisms of pollutants. Background: The bed bath is an important part of nursing care. There are few studies evaluating the effects of traditional and dry bed baths on patients. Aim: This study was performed with the aim of investigating the effect of traditional and dry bed baths given to intensive care unit patients on the patients' hemodynamic parameters, the duration of the bathing procedure and the cost of consumable items. Methods: This was a randomized crossover clinical trial and a prospective study. The study was conducted in a General Surgery Intensive Care Unit with 22 intensive care patients aged 18 and over, who had a nursing diagnosis of bathing personal care deficiency. Each patient was given two types of bed baths at an interval of 24 h: a traditional bed bath and a dry bed bath performed with single‐use tissues. Immediately before each bath, in the 5th, 10th and 15th minute of bathing, immediately after bathing and 30 min after bathing, body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate and peripheral oxygen saturation measurement changes over time were compared within the group using the Friedman test. The Wilcoxon signed ranks test was used to compare the variables of bathing duration and bathing consumable item costs between the bathing procedures. Results: It was found that at the completion of traditional and dry bed bathing, the participants' body temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and breathing rate parameters were statistically significantly lower than before bathing, whereas peripheral oxygen saturation values showed a significant increase (p < 0.05). It was found that the dry bed bath took a statistically significantly shorter time than the traditional bed bath and that the cost of consumable bathing materials was less (p < 0.05). Conclusions: It was concluded that traditional and dry bed baths given to intensive care patients affected their hemodynamic parameters and that the dry bed bath was superior to the traditional bed bath in that it took less time and that it cost less. Aim: The aim of this study is to describe and evaluate how nurses caring for COVID and non‐COVID patients assess changes in their work and in nursing activities during the two waves of the COVID‐19 pandemic. Methods: Two cross‐sectional surveys were conducted for Estonian nurses working during the first and second waves of the COVID‐19 pandemic, using The impact of COVID‐19 emergency on nursing care questionnaire. Based on convenience sampling, the data were collected among the members of professional organizations, unions and associations. Responses from the first (n = 162) and second wave (n = 284) were analysed using descriptive statistics, Fisher's exact test and McNemar's test. Results: The COVID‐19 pandemic changed the working context during both waves for nurses caring for COVID and non‐COVID patients. Changes were considered to a greater extent during the second wave, when Estonia was severely affected, and by nurses caring for COVID patients. During the second wave, the number and complexity of patients increased, and nurses caring for COVID patients performed fundamental care, nursing techniques and symptom control significantly more frequently compared to nurses caring for non‐COVID patients. Conclusion: Taking care of COVID patients is demanding, requiring nurses to perform more direct patient care. However, the pandemic also increased the frequency of activities not related with direct patient care. Summary statement: What is already known about this topic?
