Millimeter-wave radar-based identification technology has a wide range of applications in persistent identity verification, covering areas such as security production, healthcare, and personalized smart consumption systems. It has received extensive attention from the academic community due to its advantages of being non-invasive, environmentally insensitive and privacy-preserving. Existing identification algorithms mainly rely on a single signal, such as breathing or heartbeat. The reliability and accuracy of these algorithms are limited due to the high similarity of breathing patterns and the low signal-to-noise ratio of heartbeat signals. To address the above issues, this paper proposes an algorithm for multimodal fusion for identity recognition. This algorithm extracts and fuses features derived from phase signals, respiratory signals, and heartbeat signals for identity recognition purposes. The spatial features of signals with different modes are first extracted by the residual network (ResNet), after which these features are fused with a spatial-channel attention fusion module. On this basis, the temporal features are further extracted with a time series-based self-attention mechanism. Finally, the feature vectors of the user's vital sign modality are obtained to perform identity recognition. This method makes full use of the correlation and complementarity between different modal signals to improve the accuracy and reliability of identification. In order to improve the reading efficiency of pointer meter, this paper proposes a reading method based on LinkNet. Firstly, the meter dial area is detected using YOLOv8. Subsequently, the detected images are fed into the improved LinkNet segmentation network. In this network, we replace traditional convolution with partial convolution, which reduces the number of model parameters while ensuring accuracy is not affected. Remove one pair of encoding and decoding modules to further compress the model size. In the feature fusion part of the model, the CBAM (Convolutional Block Attention Module) attention module is added and the direct summing operation is replaced by the AFF (Attention Feature Fusion) module, which enhances the feature extraction capability of the model for the segmented target. In the subsequent rotation correction section, this paper effectively addresses the issue of inaccurate prediction by CNN networks for axisymmetric images within the 0–360° range, by dividing the rotation angle prediction into classification and regression steps. To address the current steel surface defect detection algorithms in practical applications involving low detection accuracy, an efficient and highly accurate strip steel surface defect detection algorithm, DEW-YOLO, is proposed in this paper. Firstly, by combining the advantages of deformable convolutional networks (DCNs), this paper innovates the C2F module in YOLOv8 and proposes a C2f_DCN module that can flexibly sample features to enhance the abilities of learning and expressing defect features of different sizes and shapes. Secondly, the explicit visual center (EVC) is introduced into the backbone network, which enhances feature extraction capabilities and adaptability and enables the model to better adjust features at different levels and scales. Finally, the original loss function is replaced with the Wise-IoU (WIoU) loss function to accurately measure the similarity between the target frames and improve the defect detection performance of the model. The experimental results on the NEU-DET dataset demonstrate that the algorithms proposed in this paper achieved a mean average precision (mAP) of 80.3% in steel surface defect detection tasks, which was a 3.9% improvement over the original YOLOv8 model. For visible and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image fusion, this paper proposes a visible and SAR image fusion algorithm based on a Transformer and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). Firstly, in this paper, the Restormer Block is used to extract cross-modal shallow features. Then, we introduce an improved Transformer–CNN Feature Extractor (TCFE) with a two-branch residual structure. This includes a Transformer branch that introduces the Lite Transformer (LT) and DropKey for extracting global features and a CNN branch that introduces the Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) for extracting local features. Finally, the fused image is output based on global features extracted by the Transformer branch and local features extracted by the CNN branch. The experiments show that the algorithm proposed in this paper can effectively achieve the extraction and fusion of global and local features of visible and SAR images, so that high-quality visible and SAR fusion images can be obtained. In the process of fabric production, various types of defects affect the quality of a fabric. However, due to the wide variety of fabric defects, the complexity of fabric textures, and the concealment of small target defects, current fabric defect detection algorithms suffer from issues such as having a slow detection speed, low detection accuracy, and a low recognition rate of small target defects. Therefore, developing an efficient and accurate fabric defect detection system has become an urgent problem that needs to be addressed in the textile industry. Addressing the aforementioned issues, this paper proposes an improved YOLOv8n-LAW algorithm based on the YOLOv8n algorithm. First, LSKNet attention mechanisms are added to both ends of the C2f module in the backbone network to provide a broader context area, enhancing the algorithm's feature extraction capability. Next, the PAN-FPN structure of the backbone network is replaced by the AFPN structure, so that the different levels of features of the defects are closer to the semantic information in the progressive fusion. Finally, the CIoU loss is replaced with the WIoU v3 loss, allowing the model to dynamically adjust gradient gains based on the features of fabric defects, effectively focusing on distinguishing between defective and non-defective regions. Generalized target detection algorithms perform well for large- and medium-sized targets but struggle with small ones. However, with the growing importance of aerial images in urban transportation and environmental monitoring, detecting small targets in such imagery has been a promising research hotspot. The challenge in small object detection lies in the limited pixel proportion and the complexity of feature extraction. Moreover, current mainstream detection algorithms tend to be overly complex, leading to structural redundancy for small objects. To cope with these challenges, this paper recommends the PCSG model based on yolov5, which optimizes both the detection head and backbone networks. (1) An enhanced detection header is introduced, featuring a new structure that enhances the feature pyramid network and the path aggregation network. This enhancement bolsters the model's shallow feature reuse capability and introduces a dedicated detection layer for smaller objects. Additionally, redundant structures in the network are pruned, and the lightweight and versatile upsampling operator CARAFE is used to optimize the upsampling algorithm. (2) The paper proposes the module named SPD-Conv to replace the strided convolution operation and pooling structures in yolov5, thereby enhancing the backbone's feature extraction capability. To ensure the long-term stable and uninterrupted service of satellite navigation systems, the robustness and reliability of time–frequency systems are crucial. Integrity monitoring is an effective method to enhance the robustness and reliability of time–frequency systems. Time–frequency signals are fundamental for integrity monitoring, with their time differences and frequency biases serving as essential indicators. These indicators are influenced by the inherent characteristics of the time–frequency signals, as well as the links and equipment they traverse. Meanwhile, existing research primarily focuses on only monitoring the integrity of the time–frequency signals' output by the atomic clock group, neglecting the integrity monitoring of the time–frequency signals generated and distributed by the time–frequency signal generation and distribution subsystem. This paper introduces a time–frequency signal integrity monitoring algorithm based on the temperature compensation frequency bias combination model. By analyzing the characteristics of time difference measurements, constructing the temperature compensation frequency bias combination model, and extracting and monitoring noise and frequency bias features from the time difference measurements, the algorithm achieves comprehensive time–frequency signal integrity monitoring. Experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm can effectively detect, identify, and alert users to time–frequency signal faults. Additionally, the model and the integrity monitoring parameters developed in this paper exhibit high adaptability, making them directly applicable to the integrity monitoring of time–frequency signals across various links. Currently, existing deep learning methods exhibit many limitations in multi-target detection, such as low accuracy and high rates of false detection and missed detections. This paper proposes an improved Faster R-CNN algorithm, aiming to enhance the algorithm's capability in detecting multi-scale targets. This algorithm has three improvements based on Faster R-CNN. Firstly, the new algorithm uses the ResNet101 network for feature extraction of the detection image, which achieves stronger feature extraction capabilities. Secondly, the new algorithm integrates Online Hard Example Mining (OHEM), Soft non-maximum suppression (Soft-NMS), and Distance Intersection Over Union (DIOU) modules, which improves the positive and negative sample imbalance and the problem of small targets being easily missed during model training. Finally, the Region Proposal Network (RPN) is simplified to achieve a faster detection speed and a lower miss rate. The multi-scale training (MST) strategy is also used to train the improved Faster R-CNN to achieve a balance between detection accuracy and efficiency. We live in the era of large data analysis, where processing vast datasets has become essential for uncovering valuable insights across various domains of our lives. Machine learning (ML) algorithms offer powerful tools for processing and analyzing this abundance of information. However, the considerable time and computational resources needed for training ML models pose significant challenges, especially within cascade schemes, due to the iterative nature of training algorithms, the complexity of feature extraction and transformation processes, and the large sizes of the datasets involved. This paper proposes a modification to the existing ML-based cascade scheme for analyzing large biomedical datasets by incorporating principal component analysis (PCA) at each level of the cascade. We selected the number of principal components to replace the initial inputs so that it ensured 95% variance retention. Furthermore, we enhanced the training and application algorithms and demonstrated the effectiveness of the modified cascade scheme through comparative analysis, which showcased a significant reduction in training time while improving the generalization properties of the method and the accuracy of the large data analysis. To address the issue of insufficient extraction of target features and the resulting impact on detection performance in long-range infrared aircraft target detection caused by small imaging area and weak radiation intensity starting from the idea of perceiving target context to enhance the features extracted by convolutional neural network, this paper proposes a detecting algorithm based on AWFGLC (adaptive weighted fusion of global–local context). Based on the mechanism of AWFGLC, the input feature map is randomly reorganized and partitioned along the channel dimension, resulting in two feature maps. One feature map is utilized by self-attention for global context modeling, establishing the correlation between target features and background features to highlight the salient features of the target, thereby enabling the detecting algorithm to better perceive the global features of the target. The other feature map is subjected to window partitioning, with max pooling and average pooling performed within each window to highlight the local features of the target. Subsequently, self-attention is applied to the pooled feature map for local context modeling, establishing the correlation between the target and its surrounding neighborhood, further enhancing the weaker parts of the target features, and enabling the detecting algorithm to better perceive the local features of the target. Based on the characteristics of the target, an adaptive weighted fusion strategy with learnable parameters is employed to aggregate the global context and local context feature maps. This results in a feature map containing more complete target information, enhancing the ability of the detection algorithm to distinguish between target and background. Finally, this paper integrates the mechanism of AWFGLC into YOLOv7 for the detection of infrared aircraft targets. The experiments indicate that the proposed algorithm achieves mAP50 scores of 97.8% and 88.7% on self-made and publicly available infrared aircraft datasets, respectively. A lightweight forest fire detection model based on YOLOv8 is proposed in this paper in response to the problems existing in traditional sensors for forest fire detection. The performance of traditional sensors is easily constrained by hardware computing power, and their adaptability in different environments needs improvement. To balance the accuracy and speed of fire detection, the GhostNetV2 lightweight network is adopted to replace the backbone network for feature extraction of YOLOv8. The Ghost module is utilized to replace traditional convolution operations, conducting feature extraction independently in different dimensional channels, significantly reducing the complexity of the model while maintaining excellent performance. Additionally, an improved CPDCA channel priority attention mechanism is proposed, which extracts spatial features through dilated convolution, thereby reducing computational overhead and enabling the model to focus more on fire targets, achieving more accurate detection. In response to the problem of small targets in fire detection, the Inner IoU loss function is introduced. By adjusting the size of the auxiliary bounding boxes, this function effectively enhances the convergence effect of small target detection, further reducing missed detections, and improving overall detection accuracy. Experimental results indicate that, compared with traditional methods, the algorithm proposed in this paper significantly improves the average precision and FPS of fire detection while maintaining a smaller model size. Through experimental analysis, compared with YOLOv3-tiny, the average precision increased by 5.9% and the frame rate reached 285.3 FPS when the model size was only 4.9 M; compared with Shufflenet, the average precision increased by 2.9%, and the inference speed tripled. It is difficult to visually detect internal defects in a large transformer with a metal closure. For convenient internal inspection, a micro-robot was adopted, and an inspection method based on an image-enhancement algorithm and an improved deep-learning network was proposed in this paper. Considering the dim environment inside the transformer and the problems of irregular imaging distance and fluctuating supplementary light conditions during image acquisition with the internal-inspection robot, an improved MSRCR algorithm for image enhancement was proposed. It could analyze the local contrast of the image and enhance the details on multiple scales. At the same time, a white-balance algorithm was introduced to enhance the contrast and brightness and solve the problems of overexposure and color distortion. To improve the target recognition performance of complex carbon-trace defects, the SimAM mechanism was incorporated into the Backbone network of the YOLOv8 model to enhance the extraction of carbon-trace features. Meanwhile, the DyHead dynamic detection Head framework was constructed at the output of the YOLOv8 model to improve the perception of local carbon traces with different sizes. To improve the defect target recognition speed of the transformer-inspection robot, a pruning operation was carried out on the YOLOv8 model to remove redundant parameters, realize model lightness, and improve detection efficiency. To verify the effectiveness of the improved algorithm, the detection model was trained and validated with the carbon-trace dataset. The results showed that the MSH-YOLOv8 algorithm achieved an accuracy of 91.80%, which was 3.4 percentage points higher compared to the original YOLOv8 algorithm, and had a significant advantage over other mainstream target-detection algorithms. In recent years, deep learning has found widespread application in SAR image object detection. However, when detecting multi-scale targets against complex backgrounds, these models often struggle to strike a balance between accuracy and speed. Furthermore, there is a continuous need to enhance the performance of current models. Hence, this paper proposes LRMSNet, a new multi-scale target detection model designed specifically for SAR images in complex backgrounds. Firstly, the paper introduces an attention module designed to enhance contextual information aggregation and capture global features, which is integrated into a backbone network with an expanded receptive field for improving SAR image feature extraction. Secondly, this paper develops an information aggregation module to effectively fuse different feature layers of the backbone network. Lastly, to better integrate feature information at various levels, this paper designs a multi-scale aggregation network. We validate the effectiveness of our method on three different SAR object detection datasets (MSAR-1.0, SSDD, and HRSID). Experimental results demonstrate that LRMSNet achieves outstanding performance with a mean average accuracy (mAP) of 95.2%, 98.9%, and 93.3% on the MSAR-1.0, SSDD, and HRSID datasets, respectively, with only 3.46 M parameters and 12.6 G floating-point operation cost (FLOPs). In order to effectively protect and verify the copyright information of multimedia digital works, this paper proposes a zero-watermarking algorithm based on carrier image feature point descriptors. The constructed feature matrix of this algorithm consists of two parts: the feature descriptor vector calculated from scale-invariant feature reconstruction transform (SIFRT) and the multi-radius local binary pattern (MrLBP) descriptor vector. The algorithm performs a standardization, feature decomposition, and redundancy reduction on the traditional keypoint descriptor matrix, combines it with the texture feature matrix, and achieves the dimensional matching of copyright information. The advantage of this algorithm lies in its non-modification of the original data. Compared to computing global features, the local features computed from a subset of key points reduce the amount of attack interference introduced during copyright verification, thereby reducing the number of erroneous pixel values that are introduced. Object detection is one of the core technologies for autonomous driving. Current road object detection mainly relies on visible light, which is prone to missed detections and false alarms in rainy, night-time, and foggy scenes. Multispectral object detection based on the fusion of RGB and infrared images can effectively address the challenges of complex and changing road scenes, improving the detection performance of current algorithms in complex scenarios. However, previous multispectral detection algorithms suffer from issues such as poor fusion of dual-mode information, poor detection performance for multi-scale objects, and inadequate utilization of semantic information. To address these challenges and enhance the detection performance in complex road scenes, this paper proposes a novel multispectral object detection algorithm called MRD-YOLO. In MRD-YOLO, we utilize interaction-based feature extraction to effectively fuse information and introduce the BIC-Fusion module with attention guidance to fuse different modal information. We also incorporate the SAConv module to improve the model's detection performance for multi-scale objects and utilize the AIFI structure to enhance the utilization of semantic information. The traditional rearview mirror method cannot fully guarantee safety when driving trucks. RGB and infrared images collected by cameras are used for registration and recognition, so as to achieve the perception of surroundings and ensure safe driving. The traditional scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) algorithm has a mismatching rate, and the YOLO algorithm has an optimization space in feature extraction. To address these issues, this paper proposes a truck surround sensing technique based on multi-features and an improved YOLOv5 algorithm. Firstly, the edge corner points and infrared features of the preset target region are extracted, and then a feature point set containing the improved SIFT algorithm is generated for registration. Finally, the YOLOv5 algorithm is improved by fusing infrared features and introducing a composite prediction mechanism at the prediction end. The simulation results show that, on average, the image stitching accuracy is improved by 17%, the time is reduced by 89%, and the target recognition accuracy is improved by 2.86%. High-altitude work poses significant safety risks, and wearing safety belts is crucial to prevent falls and ensure worker safety. However, manual monitoring of safety belt usage is time consuming and prone to errors. In this paper, we propose an improved high-altitude safety belt detection algorithm based on the YOLOv8 model to address these challenges. Our paper introduces several improvements to enhance its performance in detecting safety belts. First, to enhance the feature extraction capability, we introduce a BiFormer attention mechanism. Moreover, we used a lightweight upsampling operator instead of the original upsampling layer to better preserve and recover detailed information without adding an excessive computational burden. Meanwhile, Slim-neck was introduced into the neck layer. Additionally, extra auxiliary training heads were incorporated into the head layer to enhance the detection capability. Lastly, to optimize the prediction of bounding box position and size, we replaced the original loss function with MPDIOU. We evaluated our algorithm using a dataset collected from high-altitude work scenarios and demonstrated its effectiveness in detecting safety belts with high accuracy. Compared to the original YOLOv8 model, the improved model achieves P (precision), R (recall), and mAP (mean average precision) values of 98%, 91.4%, and 97.3%, respectively. These values represent an improvement of 5.1%, 0.5%, and 1.2%, respectively, compared to the original model. As an important part of the power system, it is necessary to ensure the safe and stable operation of transmission lines. Due to long-term exposure to the outdoors, the lines face many insecurity factors, and foreign object intrusion is one of them. Traditional foreign object (bird's nest, kite, balloon, trash bag) detection algorithms suffer from low efficiency, poor accuracy, and small coverage, etc. To address the above problems, this paper introduces the RCDAM-Net. In order to prevent feature loss or useful feature compression, the RevCol (Reversible Column Networks) is used as the backbone network to ensure that the total information remains unchanged during feature decoupling. DySnakeConv (Dynamic Snake Convolution) is adopted and embedded into the C2f structure, which is named C2D and integrates low-level features and high-level features. Compared to the original BottleNeck structure of C2f, the DySnakeConv enhances the feature extraction ability for elongated and weak targets. In addition, MPDIoU (Maximum Performance Diagonal Intersection over Union) is used to improve the regression performance of model bounding boxes, solving the problem of predicted bounding boxes having the same aspect ratio as true bounding boxes, but with different values. Further, we adopt Decoupled Head for detection and add additional auxiliary training heads to improve the detection accuracy of the model. In autonomous driving, environmental perception technology often encounters challenges such as false positives, missed detections, and low accuracy, particularly in detecting small objects and complex scenarios. Existing algorithms frequently suffer from issues like feature redundancy, insufficient contextual interaction, and inadequate information fusion, making it difficult to perform multi-task detection and segmentation efficiently. To address these challenges, this paper proposes an end-to-end multi-task environmental perception model named YOLO-Mg, designed to simultaneously perform traffic object detection, lane line detection, and drivable area segmentation. First, a multi-stage gated aggregation network (MogaNet) is employed during the feature extraction process to enhance contextual interaction by improving diversity in the channel dimension, thereby compensating for the limitations of feed-forward neural networks in contextual understanding. Second, to further improve the model's accuracy in detecting objects of various scales, a restructured weighted bidirectional feature pyramid network (BiFPN) is introduced, optimizing cross-level information fusion and enabling the model to handle object detection at different scales more accurately. Finally, the model is equipped with one detection head and two segmentation heads to achieve efficient multi-task environmental perception, ensuring the simultaneous execution of multiple tasks. The experimental results on the BDD100K dataset demonstrate that the model achieves a mean average precision (mAP50) of 81.4% in object detection, an Intersection over Union (IoU) of 28.9% in lane detection, and a mean Intersection over Union (mIoU) of 92.6% in drivable area segmentation. The technology for object detection in remote sensing images finds extensive applications in production and people's lives, and improving the accuracy of image detection is a pressing need. With that goal, this paper proposes a range of improvements, rooted in the widely used YOLOv7 algorithm, after analyzing the requirements and difficulties in the detection of remote sensing images. Specifically, we strategically remove some standard convolution and pooling modules from the bottom of the network, adopting stride-free convolution to minimize the loss of information for small objects in the transmission. Simultaneously, we introduce a new, more efficient attention mechanism module for feature extraction, significantly enhancing the network's semantic extraction capabilities. Furthermore, by adding multiple cross-layer connections in the network, we more effectively utilize the feature information of each layer in the backbone network, thereby enhancing the network's overall feature extraction capability. During the training phase, we introduce an auxiliary network to intensify the training of the underlying network and adopt a new activation function and a more efficient loss function to ensure more effective gradient feedback, thereby elevating the network performance. In the experimental results, our improved network achieves impressive mAP scores of 91.2% and 80.8% on the DIOR and DOTA version 1.0 remote sensing datasets, respectively. Due to the inadequacy in utilizing complementary information from different modalities and the biased estimation of degraded parameters, the unsupervised hyperspectral super-resolution algorithm suffers from low precision and limited applicability. To address this issue, this paper proposes an approach for hyperspectral image super-resolution, namely, the Unsupervised Multimodal Multilevel Feature Fusion network (UMMFF). The proposed approach employs a gated cross-retention module to learn shared patterns among different modalities. This module effectively eliminates the intermodal differences while preserving spatial–spectral correlations, thereby facilitating information interaction. A multilevel spatial–channel attention and parallel fusion decoder are constructed to extract features at three levels (low, medium, and high), enriching the information of the multimodal images. Additionally, an independent prior-based implicit neural representation blind estimation network is designed to accurately estimate the degraded parameters. The utilization of UMMFF on the "Washington DC", Salinas, and Botswana datasets exhibited a superior performance compared to existing state-of-the-art methods in terms of primary performance metrics such as PSNR and ERGAS, and the PSNR values improved by 18.03%, 8.55%, and 5.70%, respectively, while the ERGAS values decreased by 50.00%, 75.39%, and 53.27%, respectively. In recent years, side-channel analysis based on deep learning has garnered significant attention from researchers. A pivotal reason for this lies in the fact that deep learning-based side-channel analysis requires minimal preprocessing of side-channel data. The automatic feature extraction property of deep learning methods drastically reduces the workload for researchers, enabling them to focus more on the core issues of side-channel analysis, namely, extracting sensitive information by attacking devices. However, in prior studies, most scholars have concentrated more on the model construction process, with little research focusing on the choice of optimizers.This paper explores a novel deep learning-based optimization algorithm—CPSGD (combined projection stochastic gradient descent). The algorithm comprises two variants, designed, respectively, for unprotected side-channel analysis (CPSGD1) and desynchronized side-channel analysis (CPSGD2), and their convergence has been theoretically proven. An enhanced YOLOv8 algorithm is proposed in the following paper to address challenging issues encountered in ferrographic image target detection, such as the identification of complex-shaped wear particles, overlapping and intersecting wear particles, and small and edge-wear particles. This aim is achieved by integrating the main body network with the improved Deformable Convolutional Network v3 to enhance feature extraction capabilities. Additionally, the Dysample method is employed to optimize the upsampling technique in the neck network, resulting in a clearer fused feature image and improved precision for detecting small and edge-wear particles. In the head network, parameter sharing simplifies the detection head while enhancing convergence speed and precision through improvements made to the loss function. Lemon, as an important cash crop with rich nutritional value, holds significant cultivation importance and market demand worldwide. However, lemon diseases seriously impact the quality and yield of lemons, necessitating their early detection for effective control. This paper addresses this need by collecting a dataset of lemon diseases, consisting of 726 images captured under varying light levels, growth stages, shooting distances and disease conditions. Through cropping high-resolution images, the dataset is expanded to 2022 images, comprising 4441 healthy lemons and 718 diseased lemons, with approximately 1–6 targets per image. Then, we propose a novel model lemon surface disease YOLO (LSD-YOLO), which integrates Switchable Atrous Convolution (SAConv) and Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM), along with the design of C2f-SAC and the addition of a small-target detection layer to enhance the extraction of key features and the fusion of features at different scales. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed LSD-YOLO achieves an accuracy of 90.62% on the collected datasets, with mAP@50–95 reaching 80.84%. Compared with the original YOLOv8n model, both mAP@50 and mAP@50–95 metrics are enhanced. Dragon fruit stem disease significantly affects both the quality and yield of dragon fruit. Therefore, there is an urgent need for an efficient, high-precision intelligent detection method to address the challenge of disease detection. To address the limitations of traditional methods, including slow detection and weak micro-integration capability, this paper proposes an improved YOLOv8-G algorithm. The algorithm reduces computational redundancy by introducing the C2f-Faster module. The loss function was modified to the structured intersection over union (SIoU), and the coordinate attention (CA) and content-aware reorganization feature extraction (CARAFE) modules were incorporated. These enhancements increased the model's stability and improved its accuracy in recognizing small targets. Experimental results showed that the YOLOv8-G algorithm achieved a mean average precision (mAP) of 83.1% and mAP50:95 of 48.3%, representing improvements of 3.3% and 2.3%, respectively, compared to the original model. The model size and floating point operations per second (FLOPS) were reduced to 4.9 MB and 6.9 G, respectively, indicating reductions of 20% and 14.8%. Given the severe impact of Citrus Huanglongbing on orchard production, accurate detection of the disease is crucial in orchard management. In the natural environments, due to factors such as varying light intensities, mutual occlusion of citrus leaves, the extremely small size of Huanglongbing leaves, and the high similarity between Huanglongbing and other citrus diseases, there remains an issue of low detection accuracy when using existing mainstream object detection models for the detection of citrus Huanglongbing. To address this issue, we propose YOLO-EAF (You Only Look Once–Efficient Asymptotic Fusion), an improved model based on YOLOv8n. Firstly, the Efficient Multi-Scale Attention Module with cross-spatial learning (EMA) is integrated into the backbone feature extraction network to enhance the feature extraction and integration capabilities of the model. Secondly, the adaptive spatial feature fusion (ASFF) module is used to enhance the feature fusion ability of different levels of the model so as to improve the generalization ability of the model. Finally, the focal and efficient intersection over union (Focal–EIOU) is utilized as the loss function, which accelerates the convergence process of the model and improves the regression precision and robustness of the model. In order to verify the performance of the YOLO-EAF method, we tested it on the self-built citrus Huanglongbing image dataset. The experimental results showed that YOLO-EAF achieved an 8.4% higher precision than YOLOv8n on the self-built dataset, reaching 82.7%. The F1-score increased by 3.33% to 77.83%, and the mAP (0.5) increased by 3.3% to 84.7%. Ship detection and identification play pivotal roles in ensuring navigation safety and facilitating efficient maritime traffic management. Aiming at ship detection in complex environments, which often faces problems such as the dense occlusion of ship targets, low detection accuracy, and variable environmental conditions, in this paper, we propose a ship detection algorithm CSD-YOLO (Context guided block module, Slim-neck, Deformable large kernel attention-You Only Look Once) based on the deformable large kernel attention (D-LKA) mechanism, which was improved based on YOLOv8 to enhance its performance. This approach integrates several innovations to bolster its performance. Initially, the utilization of the Context Guided Block module (CG block) enhanced the c2f module of the backbone network, thereby augmenting the feature extraction capabilities and enabling a more precise capture of the key image information. Subsequently, the introduction of a novel neck architecture and the incorporation of the slim-neck module facilitated more effective feature fusion, thereby enhancing both the accuracy and efficiency of detection. Furthermore, the algorithm incorporates a D-LKA mechanism to dynamically adjust the convolution kernel shape and size, thereby enhancing the model's adaptability to varying ship target shapes and sizes. To address data scarcity in complex marine environments, the experiments utilized a fused dataset comprising the SeaShips dataset and a proprietary dataset. The experimental results demonstrate that the CSD-YOLO algorithm outperformed the YOLOv8n algorithm across all model evaluation metrics. Specifically, the precision rate (precision) was 91.5%, the recall rate (recall) was 89.5%, and the mean accuracy (mAP) was 91.5%. Compared to the benchmark algorithm, the Recall was improved by 0.7% and the mAP was improved by 0.4%. Indoor localization has long been a challenging task due to the complexity and dynamism of indoor environments. This paper proposes ULG-SLAM, a novel unsupervised learning and geometric-based visual SLAM algorithm for robot localizability estimation to improve the accuracy and robustness of visual SLAM. Firstly, a dynamic feature filtering based on unsupervised learning and moving consistency checks is developed to eliminate the features of dynamic objects. Secondly, an improved line feature extraction algorithm based on LSD is proposed to optimize the effect of geometric feature extraction. Thirdly, geometric features are used to optimize localizability estimation, and an adaptive weight model and attention mechanism are built using the method of region delimitation and region growth. Finally, to verify the effectiveness and robustness of localizability estimation, multiple indoor experiments using the EuRoC dataset and TUM RGB-D dataset are conducted. Compared with ORBSLAM2, the experimental results demonstrate that absolute trajectory accuracy can be improved by 95% for equivalent processing speed in walking sequences. In fr3/walking_xyz and fr3/walking_half, ULG-SLAM tracks more trajectories than DS-SLAM, and the ATE RMSE is improved by 36% and 6%, respectively. To prevent critical failure of the functional machinery of a ship, condition monitoring technologies have been much studied in recent times. In this respect, securing a fault database is a top priority in technology development. In this paper, we developed a test bed that simulates the LNG (liquefied natural gas) re-liquefaction system installed on LNG carriers to obtain data in various types of faults of ship machinery. To maintain rotor-dynamics characteristics, the structure was scaled based on the critical speed margin of the dynamic system. The developed test bed includes a gearbox and multiple shafts. It can simulate mass imbalance, misalignment, bearing fault, gear fault and impeller fault. To verify the validity of the vibration data obtained from the developed test bed, experiments were conducted on three fault modes: main shaft imbalance, pinion shaft imbalance, and gear fault. The time series data and FFT results were analyzed, and time domain features were extracted and statistically validated. Additionally, a simple diagnosis model was developed using the acquired data to evaluate its performance. The test data show distinct data with respect to fault conditions, and we can expect that the diagnosis algorithm can be developed using the test data. The developed test bed can provide not only for the fault data of a single component of the rotating machine but also for the combined fault data of the total system. In addition, we expect that it will solve the problem of securing fault data in the development of condition diagnosis technology if reliability is verified by identifying correlations by comparing data from the real system and data from the scaled test bed. For airborne radar, detecting a low–slow–small (LSS) target is a hot and challenging topic, which results from the rapidly increasing number of non-cooperative flying LSS targets becoming of widespread concern, and the low signal-to-clutter ratio (SCR) of LSS targets results in the targets being particularly easily overwhelmed by the clutter. In this paper, a novel light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM)-based LSS target detection algorithm for airborne radar is proposed. The proposed method, based on the current real-time clutter environment of the range cell to be detected, firstly designs a specific real-time space-time LSS target signal repository with special dimensions and structures. Then, the proposed method creatively designs a new fast-built real-time training feature dataset specifically for the LSS target and the current clutter, together with a series of unique data transformations, sample selection, data restructuring, feature extraction, and feature processing. Finally, the proposed method develops a unique machine learning-based LSS target detection classifier model for the designed training dataset, by fully excavating and utilizing the advantages of the ensemble decision trees-based LightGBM. Consequently, the pre-processed data in the range cell of interest are classified using the proposed algorithm, which achieves LSS target detection by evaluating the output results of the designed classifier. Compared with the traditional classical target detection methods, the proposed algorithm is capable of providing markedly superior performance for LSS target detection. With an appropriate computational time, the proposed algorithm attains the highest probability of detecting LSS targets under the low SCR. To address the challenge of distinguishing the health status of bearings, in this paper, a health index (HI) is developed through utilization of the multiple target time-varying black widow optimization–bidirectional gating recurrent unit (MTBWO-BiGRU) model and the Bray–Curtis distance. This index offers a visual representation of the health status of bearings, enabling more intuitive monitoring and prediction. The first step involves utilizing L1 regularization to extract effective features as degradation elements from the current bearing vibration data. Additionally, the characteristics of the initial time window of the vibration data serve as the health features. Next, the HI of the bearing is constructed by computing the Bray–Curtis distance between the bearing's degradation characteristics and health features. The cloud monitoring platform constantly tracks the health of the bearing and employs the MTBWO-BiGRU model to anticipate the forthcoming state of health. The platform generates an immediate alert when the HI of the bearing overtakes the alteration rate threshold and foresees the condition of the bearing. We compare the MTBWO-BiGRU model with the bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) and BiGRU models. The results indicate an accuracy level of 92.57%, which is evidently higher than that obtained when using the other two models. The feature extraction problem of coupled vibration signals with multiple fault modes of planetary gears has not been solved effectively. At present, kernel principal component analysis (KPCA) is usually used to solve nonlinear feature extraction problems, but the kernel function selection and its blind parameter setting greatly affect the performance of the algorithm. For the optimization of the kernel parameters, it is very urgent to study the theoretical modeling to improve the performance of kernel principal component analysis. Aiming at the deficiency of kernel principal component analysis using the single-kernel function for the nonlinear mapping of feature extraction, a dual-kernel function based on the flexible linear combination of a radial basis kernel function and polynomial kernel function is proposed. In order to increase the scientificity of setting the kernel parameters and the flexible weight coefficient, a mathematical model for dual-kernel parameter optimization was constructed based on a Fisher criterion discriminant analysis. In addition, this paper puts forward a swarm intelligent fusion algorithm to increase this method's advantages for optimization problems, involving the shuffled frog leaping algorithm combined with particle swarm optimization (SFLA-PSO). The new fusion algorithm was applied to optimize the kernel parameters to improve the performance of KPCA nonlinear mapping. The optimized dual-kernel function KPCA (DKKPCA) was applied to the feature extraction of planetary gear wear damage, and had a good identification effect on the fuzzy damage boundary of the planetary gearbox. Due to the limitations of traditional retinal blood vessel segmentation algorithms in feature extraction, vessel breakage often occurs at the end. To address this issue, a retinal vessel segmentation algorithm based on a modified U-shaped network is proposed in this paper. This algorithm can extract multi-scale vascular features and perform segmentation in an end-to-end manner. First, in order to improve the low contrast of the original image, pre-processing methods are employed. Second, a multi-scale residual convolution module is employed to extract image features of different granularities, while residual learning improves feature utilization efficiency and reduces information loss. In addition, a selective kernel unit is incorporated into the skip connections to obtain multi-scale features with varying receptive field sizes achieved through soft attention. Subsequently, to further extract vascular features and improve processing speed, a residual attention module is constructed at the decoder stage. Finally, a weighted joint loss function is implemented to address the imbalance between positive and negative samples. Accurate ship object detection ensures navigation safety and effective maritime traffic management. Existing ship target detection models often have the problem of missed detection in complex marine environments, and it is hard to achieve high accuracy and real-time performance simultaneously. To address these issues, this paper proposes a lightweight ship object detection model called YOLOv7-Ship to perform end-to-end ship detection in complex marine environments. At first, we insert the improved "coordinate attention mechanism" (CA-M) in the backbone of the YOLOv7-Tiny model at the appropriate location. Then, the feature extraction capability of the convolution module is enhanced by embedding omnidimensional dynamic convolution (ODconv) into the efficient layer aggregation network (ELAN). Furthermore, content-aware feature reorganization (CARAFE) and SIoU are introduced into the model to improve its convergence speed and detection precision for small targets. Finally, to handle the scarcity of ship data in complex marine environments, we build the ship dataset, which contains 5100 real ship images. Experimental results show that, compared with the baseline YOLOv7-Tiny model, YOLOv7-Ship improves the mean average precision (mAP) by 2.2% on the self-built dataset. Multi-robot Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) systems employing 2D lidar scans are effective for exploration and navigation within GNSS-limited environments. However, scalability concerns arise with larger environments and increased robot numbers, as 2D mapping necessitates substantial processor memory and inter-robot communication bandwidth. Thus, data compression prior to transmission becomes imperative. This study investigates the problem of communication-efficient multi-robot SLAM based on 2D maps and introduces an architecture that enables compressed communication, facilitating the transmission of full maps with significantly reduced bandwidth. We propose a framework employing a lightweight feature extraction Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for a full map, followed by an encoder combining Huffman and Run-Length Encoding (RLE) algorithms to further compress a full map. Subsequently, a lightweight recovery CNN was designed to restore map features. Experimental validation involves applying our compressed communication framework to a two-robot SLAM system. The results demonstrate that our approach reduces communication overhead by 99% while maintaining map quality. Cooperative perception in the field of connected autonomous vehicles (CAVs) aims to overcome the inherent limitations of single-vehicle perception systems, including long-range occlusion, low resolution, and susceptibility to weather interference. In this regard, we propose a high-precision 3D object detection V2V cooperative perception algorithm. The algorithm utilizes a voxel grid-based statistical filter to effectively denoise point cloud data to obtain clean and reliable data. In addition, we design a feature extraction network based on the fusion of voxels and PointPillars and encode it to generate BEV features, which solves the spatial feature interaction problem lacking in the PointPillars approach and enhances the semantic information of the extracted features. A maximum pooling technique is used to reduce the dimensionality and generate pseudoimages, thereby skipping complex 3D convolutional computation. To facilitate effective feature fusion, we design a feature level-based crossvehicle feature fusion module. Experimental validation is conducted using the OPV2V dataset to assess vehicle coperception performance and compare it with existing mainstream coperception algorithms. Ablation experiments are also carried out to confirm the contributions of this approach. In low-voltage AC distribution systems, when a series arc fault occurs in a branch with multiple loads operating in parallel, it will be significantly more difficult to identify. Existing arc fault detection methods make it difficult to effectively detect faults occurring in the lower-level branch. This study introduces a novel series arc fault detection approach based on the improved northern goshawk optimization adaptive base class LogitBoost (INGO-ABCLogitBoost) algorithm. Considering the zero-rest, intermittent, and random fluctuation and high-frequency features of the arc current, the zero-rest coefficient, discrete coefficient, harmonic amplitude, and wavelet entropy are proposed to establish the high-dimensional feature matrix of the arc current. The ReliefF feature selection algorithm is used to optimize feature quality and decrease feature dimensionality. Subsequently, the ABCLogitBoost fault detection model is proposed, with the INGO algorithm applied to optimize the model parameters, thus enhancing the model's diagnostic capabilities. The efficacy of the proposed diagnostic model is validated through the construction of a multi-load arc simulation system. The simulation results show that the overall fault diagnosis accuracy of the proposed method reaches 99.01% and can effectively identify the fault load types, which helps to locate the fault location. With the strengthening of worldwide counter-terrorism initiatives, it is increasingly important to detect contrabands such as controlled knives and flammable materials hidden in clothes and bags. Terahertz (THz) imaging technology is widely used in the field of contraband detection due to its advantages of high imaging speed and strong penetration. However, the terahertz images are of poor qualities and lack texture details. Traditional target detection methods suffer from low detection speeds, misdetection, and omission of contraband. This work pre-processes the original dataset using a variety of image processing methods and validates the effect of these methods on the detection results of YOLOv7. Meanwhile, the lightweight and multi-object detection YOLOv7 (LWMD-YOLOv7) algorithm is proposed. Firstly, to meet the demand of real-time for multi-target detection, we propose the space-to-depth mobile (SPD_Mobile) network as the lightweight feature extraction network. Secondly, the selective attention module large selective kernel (LSK) network is integrated into the output of the multi-scale feature map of the LWMD-YOLOv7 network, which enhances the effect of feature fusion and strengthens the network's attention to salient features. Finally, Distance Intersection over Union (DIOU) is used as the loss function to accelerate the convergence of the model and to have a better localisation effect for small targets. The experimental results show that the YOLOv7 algorithm achieves the best detection results on the terahertz image dataset after the non-local mean filtering process. The LWMD-YOLOv7 algorithm achieves a detection accuracy P of 98.5%, a recall R of 97.5%, and a detection speed of 112.4 FPS, which is 26.9 FPS higher than that of the YOLOv7 base network. The intelligent identification of coal gangue on industrial conveyor belts is a crucial technology for the precise sorting of coal gangue. To address the issues in coal gangue detection algorithms, such as high false negative rates, complex network structures, and substantial model weights, an optimized coal gangue detection algorithm based on YOLOv5s is proposed. In the backbone network, a feature refinement module is employed for feature extraction, enhancing the capability to extract features for coal and gangue. The improved BIFPN structure is employed as the feature pyramid, augmenting the model's capability for cross-scale feature fusion. In the prediction layer, the ESIOU is utilized as the bounding box regression loss function to rectify the misalignment issue between predicted and actual box angles. This approach expedites the convergence speed of the network while concurrently enhancing the accuracy of coal gangue detection. Channel pruning is implemented on the network to diminish model computational complexity and weight, consequently augmenting detection speed. In response to the challenges posed by complex background textures and limited hardware resources in fabric defect detection, this study proposes a lightweight fabric defect detection algorithm based on an improved GSL-YOLOv8n model. Firstly, to reduce the parameter count and complexity of the YOLOv8n network, the GhostNet concept is used to construct the C2fGhost module, replacing the conventional convolution layers in the YOLOv8n structure with Ghost convolutions. Secondly, the SimAM parameter-free attention mechanism is embedded at the end of the backbone network to eliminate redundant background, enhance semantic information for small targets, and improve the network's feature extraction capability. Lastly, a lightweight shared convolution detection head is designed, employing the scale layer to adjust features, ensuring the lightweight nature of the model while minimizing precision loss. Detecting small and densely packed objects in images remains a significant challenge in computer vision. Existing object detection methods often exhibit low accuracy and frequently miss detection when identifying dense small objects and require larger model parameters. This study introduces a novel detection framework designed to address these limitations by integrating advanced feature fusion and optimization techniques. Our approach focuses on enhancing both detection accuracy and parameter efficiency. The approach was evaluated on the open-source VisDrone2019 data set and compared with mainstream algorithms. To address the challenges of multi-scale objects, dense distributions, occlusions, and numerous small targets in UAV image detection, we present CMS-YOLOv7, a real-time target detection method based on an enhanced YOLOv7 model. Firstly, the detection layer P2 for small targets was added to YOLOv7 to enhance the detection ability of small and medium-sized targets, and the deep detection head P5 was taken out to mitigate the influence of excessive downsampling on small target images. The anchor frame was calculated by the K-means++ method. Using the concept of Inner-IoU, the Inner-MPDIoU loss function was constructed to control the range of the auxiliary border and improve detection performance. Furthermore, the CARAFE module was introduced to replace traditional upsampling methods, offering improved integration of semantic information during the image upsampling process and enhancing feature mapping accuracy. Simultaneously, during the feature extraction stage, a non-strided convolutional SPD-Conv module was constructed using space-to-depth techniques. This module replaced certain convolutional operations to minimize the loss of fine-grained information and improve the model's ability to extract features from small targets. Experiments on the UAV aerial photo dataset VisDrone2019 demonstrated that compared with the baseline YOLOv7 object detection algorithm, CMS-YOLOv7 achieved an improvement of 3.5% mAP@0.5, 3.0% mAP@0.5:0.95, and the number of parameters decreased by 18.54 M. Due to the limited computing resources and storage capacity of edge detection devices, efficient detection algorithms are typically required to meet real-time and accuracy requirements. Existing detectors often require a large number of parameters and high computational power to improve accuracy, which reduces detection speed and performance on low-power devices. To reduce computational load and enhance detection performance on edge devices, we propose a lightweight drone target detection algorithm, LD-YOLOv10. Firstly, we design a novel lightweight feature extraction structure called RGELAN, which utilizes re-parameterized convolutions and the newly designed Conv-Tiny as the computational structure to reduce the computational burden of feature extraction. The AIFI module was introduced, utilizing its multi-head attention mechanism to enhance the expression of semantic information. We construct the DR-PAN Neck structure, which obtains weak features of small targets with minimal computational load. Wise-IoU and EIoU are combined as new bounding box regression loss functions to adjust the competition between anchor boxes of different quality and the sensitivity of anchor box aspect ratios, providing a more intelligent gradient allocation strategy. Extensive experiments on the VisdroneDET-2021 and UAVDT datasets show that LD-YOLOv10 reduces the number of parameters by 62.4% while achieving a slight increase in accuracy and has a faster detection speed compared to other lightweight algorithms. Predicting remaining useful life (RUL) is crucial for tool condition monitoring (TCM) systems. Inaccurate predictions can lead to premature tool replacements or excessive usage, resulting in resource wastage and potential equipment failures. This study introduces a novel tool RUL prediction method that integrates the enhanced northern goshawk optimization (MSANGO) algorithm with a bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) network. Initially, key statistical features are extracted from collected signal data using multivariate variational mode decomposition. This is followed by effective feature reduction, facilitated by the uniform information coefficient and Mann–Kendall trend tests. The RUL predictions are subsequently refined through a BiLSTM network, with the MSANGO algorithm optimizing the network parameters. In the context of power-line scenarios characterized by complex backgrounds and diverse scales and shapes of targets, and addressing issues such as large model parameter sizes, insufficient feature extraction, and the susceptibility to missing small targets in engineering-vehicle detection tasks, a lightweight detection algorithm termed CER-YOLOv5s is firstly proposed. The C3 module was restructured by embedding a lightweight Ghost bottleneck structure and convolutional attention module, enhancing the model's ability to extract key features while reducing computational costs. Secondly, an E-BiFPN feature pyramid network is proposed, utilizing channel attention mechanisms to effectively suppress background noise and enhance the model's focus on important regions. Bidirectional connections were introduced to optimize the feature fusion paths, improving the efficiency of multi-scale feature fusion. At the same time, in the feature fusion part, an ERM (enhanced receptive module) was added to expand the receptive field of shallow feature maps through multiple convolution repetitions, enhancing the global information perception capability in relation to small targets. Lastly, a Soft-DIoU-NMS suppression algorithm is proposed to improve the candidate box selection mechanism, addressing the issue of suboptimal detection of occluded targets. The experimental results indicated that compared with the baseline YOLOv5s algorithm, the improved algorithm reduced parameters and computations by 27.8% and 31.9%, respectively. Due to the limited computational resources of portable devices, target detection models for drone detection face challenges in real-time deployment. To enhance the detection efficiency of low, slow, and small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), this study introduces an efficient drone detection model based on YOLOv5s (EDU-YOLO), incorporating lightweight feature extraction and balanced feature fusion modules. The model employs the ShuffleNetV2 network and coordinate attention mechanisms to construct a lightweight backbone network, significantly reducing the number of model parameters. It also utilizes a bidirectional feature pyramid network and ghost convolutions to build a balanced neck network, enriching the model's representational capacity. Additionally, a new loss function, EloU, replaces CIoU to improve the model's positioning accuracy and accelerate network convergence. Experimental results indicate that, compared to the YOLOv5s algorithm, our model only experiences a minimal decrease in mAP by 1.1%, while reducing GFLOPs from 16.0 to 2.2 and increasing FPS from 153 to 188. (1) Background: Small objects in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) images are often scattered throughout various regions of the image, such as the corners, and may be blocked by larger objects, as well as susceptible to image noise. Moreover, due to their small size, these objects occupy a limited area in the image, resulting in a scarcity of effective features for detection. (2) Methods: To address the detection of small objects in UAV imagery, we introduce a novel algorithm called High-Resolution Feature Pyramid Network Mamba-Based YOLO (HRMamba-YOLO). This algorithm leverages the strengths of a High-Resolution Network (HRNet), EfficientVMamba, and YOLOv8, integrating a Double Spatial Pyramid Pooling (Double SPP) module, an Efficient Mamba Module (EMM), and a Fusion Mamba Module (FMM) to enhance feature extraction and capture contextual information. Additionally, a new Multi-Scale Feature Fusion Network, High-Resolution Feature Pyramid Network (HRFPN), and FMM improved feature interactions and enhanced the performance of small object detection. (3) Results: For the VisDroneDET dataset, the proposed algorithm achieved a 4.4% higher Mean Average Precision (mAP) compared to YOLOv8-m. The experimental results showed that HRMamba achieved a mAP of 37.1%, surpassing YOLOv8-m by 3.8% (Dota1.5 dataset). For the UCAS_AOD dataset and the DIOR dataset, our model had a mAP 1.5% and 0.3% higher than the YOLOv8-m model, respectively. To be fair, all the models were trained without a pre-trained model. Small object detection in traffic sign applications often faces challenges like complex backgrounds, blurry samples, and multi-scale variations. Existing solutions tend to complicate the algorithms. In this study, we designed an efficient and simple algorithm network called StarCAN-PFD, based on the single-stage YOLOv8 framework, to accurately recognize small objects in complex scenarios. We proposed the StarCAN feature extraction network, which was enhanced with the Context Anchor Attention (CAA). We designed the Pyramid Focus and Diffusion Network (PFDNet) to address multi-scale information loss and developed the Detail-Enhanced Conv Shared Detect (DESDetect) module to improve the recognition of complex samples while keeping the network lightweight. Experiments on the CCTSDB dataset validated the effectiveness of each module. Compared to YOLOv8, our algorithm improved mAP@0.5 by 4%, reduced the model size to less than half, and demonstrated better performance on different traffic sign datasets. It excels at detecting small traffic sign targets in complex scenes, including challenging samples such as blurry, low-light night, occluded, and overexposed conditions, showcasing strong generalization ability. The core task of target detection is to accurately identify and localize the object of interest from a multitude of interfering factors. This task is particularly difficult in UAV aerial images, where targets are often small and the background can be extremely complex. In response to these challenges, this study introduces an enhanced target detection algorithm for UAV aerial images based on the YOLOv7-tiny network. In order to enhance the convolution module in the backbone of the network, the Receptive Field Coordinate Attention Convolution (RFCAConv) in place of traditional convolution enhances feature extraction within critical image regions. Furthermore, the tiny target detection capability is effectively enhanced by incorporating a tiny object detection layer. Moreover, the newly introduced BSAM attention mechanism dynamically adjusts attention distribution, enabling precise target–background differentiation, particularly in cases of target similarity. Finally, the innovative inner-MPDIoU loss function replaces the CIoU, which enhances the sensitivity of the model to changes in aspect ratio and greatly improves the detection accuracy. Experimental results on the VisDrone2019 dataset reveal that relative to the YOLOv7-tiny model, the improved YOLOv7-tiny model improves precision (P), recall (R), and mean average precision (mAP) by 4.1%, 5.5%, and 6.5%, respectively, thus confirming the algorithm's superiority over existing mainstream methods.
