This paper presents a few ideas, reflections and interrogations regarding education and its relationship with science, in a knowledge-based society, seeking possible answers to questions such as: (1) Is education possible without cognition (scientific knowledge)? Or vice versa? The access to authentical knowledge can be achieved from outside the school? (2) What is the place and role of education and cognition in the contemporary society? (3) How can the school, as a fundamental institution of education, production and knowledge transmitter, be more attractive? (4) What should education (through school) offer beyond the release and assimilation of knowledge? [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
